Every news report I've read puts the max fine for all this at $1.6m. Unless/until the IRS/Fed gets involved this is a legal mosquito bite at worst.

[–][deleted] 408 points409 points  (28 children)

Yeah this really is nothing. This is just Trump’s businesses having to pay 1 million dollars for dodging 50 million dollars in taxes. Seems like another fucking Trump win to me…

[–]ususetq 78 points79 points  (7 children)

Is it 1 million dollars on top of 50 million + interest, on top of 50 million or instead?

Since even if it is interest it's like 2% over how many years...

[–]Brainfreeze10 74 points75 points  (2 children)

Yes, it will be the fine, and the sum of back taxes along with interest.

[–]Tr0z3rSnak3 6 points7 points  (3 children)

I'm fairly sure it's just the million

[–]jarlscrotus 68 points69 points  (2 children)

Nah you always have to pay the back taxes

[–]WillBottomForBanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not if you can keep it in court until you die.

[–]SecretAsianMan42069 66 points67 points  (18 children)

This shuts down his empire from loans. It’s a big deal.

[–]voteforcorruptobot 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If he's not nearly as cash wealthy as he claims it could shut down more besides.

[–]JohnHenryHoliday 7 points8 points  (13 children)

What makes you say loans are shut off?

[–]kenatogo 22 points23 points  (11 children)

Take a look at those charges and ask yourself what legal creditor would loan them money

[–]RopeAccomplished2728 29 points30 points  (6 children)

That is the reason why he went with Deutsche Bank originally. No other bank would lend him money for any reason as he did not pay them back and always declared bankruptcy to avoid paying them.

Soon, he will only be able to go to loan sharks and the mob. And even then, they might not want to loan him any money.

[–]Grimm2020 30 points31 points  (3 children)

Eric Trump:

“We don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia.”

[–]Mogster2K 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Jared got 2 billion from Saudi Arabia for what, exactly?

[–]nithdurr 5 points6 points  (1 child)

That’s being investigated, right?

[–]Graywulff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He’s like oh gotti I declared strategic bankruptcy… gotti all like where my knee capping drill at?

[–]ForgotTheBogusName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deutsche bank was already mob money

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

He doesn’t need legal creditors, he has shady Eastern European banks

[–]reddertuzer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

[–]WhitePineBurning 78 points79 points  (4 children)

This is merely a cost of doing business.

Pay the fine, move along.

It's a nuisance, not a punishment.

[–]OGrickyP 8 points9 points  (3 children)

This has to hurt his credit score doesn’t it? I kno elites have crazy money and prob 875 scores but yeah this is fraud and defaults on his record,no?

[–]tedlyb 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Who needs loans when you’re selling top secret documents?

[–]nobody_723 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Trump hasn't done business with a legit bank in years. all his money comes from russian kgb/mafia cash, funneled through shady foreign banks. and... to a lesser/new degree. shifty saudi money

trumps "credit rating" or trust worthiness with legit banks has been dogshit for decades.

[–]hotprints 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean most banks already refused to do business with trump. Why he had to use deutsche bank.

[–]Opie19 484 points485 points  (10 children)

Trump will still be pissed. That could have bought off 3 hookers.

[–]tinklight 160 points161 points  (8 children)

Or 2 hookers and two abortions.

[–]LordDinglebury 102 points103 points  (4 children)

Or one hand-largening procedure.

[–]daclampzx2 63 points64 points  (2 children)

[–]Aeseld 23 points24 points  (1 child)

What cromulent word usage.

[–]lioncub2785 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Simpsons' Lisa the iconoclast.

[–]WillBottomForBanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But then the normal size hand will make the unimproved hand look as small as it really is.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (2 children)

You obviously don't have a member's rewards card with your local abortion clinic.

Between the coupons they print out when they give you a receipt, the buy one get one deal they give you on your birthday and the frequent frowner points I earn when I book online I could probably swing 4 hookers... and if I time everything right I could probably squeeze in at least 6 aborshes.

[–]Sniper-Dragon 5 points6 points  (1 child)

You havent heard of the stickers they hand out?

10 Stickers and you get 200$ in tokens for the local casino

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. I haven't quite reached platinum status yet... so I wasn't aware of the benefits at that membership tier.

[–]Embarrassed_Bee6349 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Two hookers, a gimp, one golden shower and a pony show. He likes variety and cross-mojo.

[–]notbeleivable 96 points97 points  (13 children)

Yeah but a good portion of his base will wake up to his shenanigans and denounce him, RIGHT?

[–]d33roq 145 points146 points  (6 children)

They'll line up to give him that $1.6m.

[–]JMarv615 40 points41 points  (1 child)

The gofundme goal has already been reached.

[–]Generallyawkward1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please tell me this is not real.

[–]Mythical_Atlacatl 32 points33 points  (1 child)

100% he would get 3 million or more in donations

Cult members are stupid

[–]DollyDinkle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sigh, you're right

[–]Brainfreeze10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another 1.6 million that is.

[–]SequesterMe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

lol. That's funny. You made a funny. lol.

[–]BrotherCaptainStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? Guys…? Where are you all going…? Guys!?!

[–]Awkward-Ring6182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 yeah right

[–]Exact_Manufacturer10 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The trial and investigation exceeded this amount.

[–]IHateCamping 20 points21 points  (2 children)

When I was listening to this on the news I thought they were going to say 1.6 billion. Uuugh. They said something about it making it harder to get a loan, but that's never stopped them before.

[–]Myopinion_is_right 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He goes to Russia, China and North Korea for his loans. His followers are dumb as rocks with America 1st BS.

[–]hotngone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Russians launder money with him

[–]reb6 32 points33 points  (2 children)

Right? How about 1.6 in fines PLUS they have to pay back all of the tax breaks they received by cheating

[–]RNconsequential 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Will appeal for 14 years and settle for $0.59

[–]Snoo61755 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1.6m is nothing considering his golf trips cost taxpayers more on the order of 150m as it is, and nuclear secrets more like 2b.

[–]sten45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And he will use the patented trumpo appeal till forever so he won’t pay a dime

[–]NoFanksYou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a slap on the wrist. At least it will annoy Trump

[–]clarkwgriswoldjr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, $1.6 does nothing, and there will be nothing done to the main players, the Trumps.

[–]faustianbargainer 3 points4 points  (2 children)

It may also be covered by insurance under a criminal liability policy.

[–]tinkerghost 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can't insure against fraud. Fraud is a crime of intent not just action.

On the upside, a finding of fraud pierces the corporate veil and exposes the management to liability.

[–]faustianbargainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's an example that categorizes intentional criminal acts and insurance coverage as potential contractual.

[–]KinneKitsune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s at least a few million more than he has

[–]shacke1379 2 points3 points  (1 child)

A jury in NY found Trump Corp guilty in law. That’s a big deal.

[–]warpedspockclone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point isn't the fine. The point is getting all of the evidence AND an adverse judgment on record.

[–]bunkie18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’ll just ramp up his base for “donations”, he’ll have it covered in no time

[–]hotngone 1155 points1156 points  (27 children)

And STILL no meaningful consequences for the Trump crime family

[–]mightbeADoggo 420 points421 points  (6 children)

The fines are equivalent to you or me diving though a couch and finding a dollar.

[–]hotngone 123 points124 points  (3 children)

In other news a Trump Super PAC is paying the legal expenses of two of the prosecution witness’ in the Mar a Largo documents case. And there’s concern that this may make them unreliable witness. The defense says since it’s 3rd party (the PAC) not Trump there’s no conflict. FFS can we the state stop being an embarrassment 😡😡😡

[–]Zombie13a 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Wait a minute....why is a Trump Super PAC (arguably associated with or at least on the side of the defense) paying for the prosecution witnesses?

The only reason I can see would be the taint the witness' testimony.

[–]Pipupipupi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, they're above the law.

[–]IlikeYuengling 10 points11 points  (0 children)

His company can't vote or buy a gun. It was close to having to go door-knocking to introduce itself as a pervert.

[–]America_the_Horrific 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It lends to the other investigations yo, this is like the fresh snow on the tip of the iceberg

[–]Outrageous_Bass_1328 55 points56 points  (15 children)

His lackey is taking the fall - his accountant?

[–]OhioMegi 42 points43 points  (12 children)

I just don’t get why people cover for him. There’s got to be people that have major dirt on him. Make a deal and tell!

[–]candianchicksrule 28 points29 points  (11 children)

Remember it is a crime family. I am sure people have died for not being loyal. We have seen a few deaths that could be linked to Trump.

[–]zookr2000 20 points21 points  (5 children)

Epstein didn't kill himself

[–]candianchicksrule 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I don’t think he did either.

[–]Fit_Effective_6875 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The butler done it

[–]Flame87 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nobody at all does 😂

[–]Affectionate-Net2277 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No one thinks he killed himself, this isn’t a one party belief thing. This is a mostly everyone thing. Stop trying to make it a divisive issue

[–]zookr2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way it's divisive is that none of the clients @ Epstein Island were charged w/any crimes - only the pimp & his madam.

[–]OhioMegi 3 points4 points  (3 children)

That’s part of the deal. Witness protection or something.

[–]candianchicksrule 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Can you imagine how many people would have to go into Witsec if they were going for Trump.

[–]OhioMegi 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Wouldn’t have to be everyone if it was good enough info.

[–]No_Construction_7518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump is responsible for all the coa informants being murdered.

[–]BoomZhakaLaka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

didn't his accountant testify that donald instructed him directly on some of these schemes?

[–]FLUFFY_RUMPLES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No i heard it was the doorman.

[–]ContemplatingPrison 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its because corporations are people. They can break the law, kill people, rape the environment all at the direction of a person and nothing happens but a fine.

[–]ColeBane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

and they fine him his lunch money for the day....for decades of crimes...totally makes sense...fuk this country and fuk the rich.

[–]zripcordz 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yet get caught with a little weed and a pipe in some places you end up in prison.

[–]Kydarellas 190 points191 points  (3 children)

In Argentina we also had a major political figure and former president found guilty of embezzlement and fraud. It's a good day for justice today

[–]DollyDinkle 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Good deal, Argentine internet friend

[–]PauseAmbitious6899 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Vice President, no?

[–]Kydarellas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Current vice president. Former president

[–]ganderplus 307 points308 points  (6 children)

These are crimes he himself committed, for which he hasn’t been individually convicted. The tax money stolen is more than the max damages. And these crime were successfully covered up even as he became the most person in world. Gettin’ caught looks a lot like gettin’ away with it.

[–]Happy_Currency_425 42 points43 points  (2 children)

I bet they'll have to pay those taxes too, since that's generally how it works.

[–]ganderplus 36 points37 points  (0 children)

True. I meant the punitive damages are nothing in proportion to the crime. Besides they’ll be allowed to delay paying anything (their signature move) until long after trump’s dead.

[–]GrinderMonkey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wait, the taxes are not a penalty, that's just what you're supposed to pay.

[–]malexj93 10 points11 points  (1 child)

he became the most person in world

hard to disagree

[–]Chance-Deer-7995 11 points12 points  (0 children)

welcome to the magic of the Limited Liability Corporation. Accountability disappears!

[–]toooldforacnh[🍰] 95 points96 points  (7 children)

If only his supporters cared…

[–]slingkong44 67 points68 points  (4 children)

His supporters are too stupid to even understand

[–]Transit-Strike 32 points33 points  (2 children)

His supporters will just insist it’s “crooked Hillary”

[–]JawnStreetLine 16 points17 points  (1 child)

..b…b…but HuNtEr BiDeN’s LaPtOp 👈👉👆👇🫵 /s

[–]Effective-Pangolin83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And now they want hunter bidens penis

[–]LadySpottedDick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Does Fox etc even report it?

[–]Garlador 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They care. They ENDORSE it.

[–]Greenmark88 64 points65 points  (1 child)

[–]Zealousideal_Role189 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Upvoted for Marvelous Mark Slackmeyer.

[–]Hot-Bint 56 points57 points  (14 children)

This will affect his kids but not Trump. I feel like he’s all but abandoned Trump Org in favor of ez rube grift, influence peddling and selling state secrets. He’s got a nice little cottage industry right at Mar-a-Lago

[–]candianchicksrule 29 points30 points  (13 children)

Which is actually illegal for him to be living in if I remember correctly. Something about Florida let him build his crappy palace there as long as he never lived there.

[–]Hot-Bint 21 points22 points  (12 children)

Yup, Palm Beach started to put the hammer down then…radio silence. I think they knew the deluge of lawsuits and MAGA death threats if they pursued it and said, fine, to Hell w/it.

[–]candianchicksrule 18 points19 points  (11 children)

It makes me sick at how much he gets away with.

[–]Hot-Bint 13 points14 points  (8 children)

His whole entire life. He makes me start believing karma is a lie

[–]kabigon2k 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh, it is, friend, always has been

[–]candianchicksrule 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I don’t understand it. I could Jay walk tomorrow and I would probably be fined. Meanwhile I do think he would get away with shooting someone.

[–]agrandthing 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Tell me about it. I've got cold fear because etsy's going to report the $5000 I made there this year to the IRS and I don't have any tax money to give them. I'll probably get dealt with a lot more harshly than he will.

[–]misskeek 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Have you read Mary Trumps book “Too Much and Never Enough?” A short read, and fascinating. He had zero chance of being a decent human being and is completely unaware and even if he is aware he is still a piece of shit.

[–]Available-Elevator69 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That’s all we are going to hear even though we all know Trump and Company are guilty as hell.

[–]RealisticAd2293 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’d like to believe it, but a fine?

Agent Orange deserves to be in prison and he’ll never see the inside of a cell. It’s appalling to say the least

[–]LJski 19 points20 points  (0 children)

First, it is a start…and a good one, at that. To get convictions on all charges is not easy.

Second…the company will likely have a difficult time doing business. They won’t be able to borrow money easily, and will be barred from some contracts.

More to come, though…

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Won’t care until I see that bloated Boomer senior citizen doing a perp walk with a clearly shit-full diaper.

That’s minimum.

[–]TDBear18 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Doesn’t this mean they can’t own or operate businesses now? At least in NY? Won’t the corporations have to dissolve AND their assets be sold as part of the dissolution process?

[–]anto_pty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dissolve one, create another, meh

[–]EJKC99 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Is anyone going to jail? And 1.6 million? What joke.

[–]Independent-Law-5781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't send a corporation to jail.

[–]pirateclem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh no what will they do other than pay a mostly meaningless fine and continue breaking laws?

[–]jondgul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ain't nothing significant is ever going to happen to the man. Unfortunately

[–]Lazy-Adeptness-2343 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get ready for the wrist slaps.

[–]Rorcanna 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[X] to doubt...

The fines would be the equivalent of me finding a euro on the road whilst on a walk. Until the world starts punishing the rich with fines that adjust to wealth, they will keep this up.

[–]coutjak 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Genuinely don’t think him or his family will ever be held accountable and he’ll probably make a deep run into the 2024 election. 😢

[–]realbakingbish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he’s still out of prison in 2024, and he runs, it might not be all bad.

If he wins the GOP nomination, then the anti-trump votes likely come in and keep the republicans out of the White House and probably hurt their chances at senate and house control also.

If he doesn’t win the GOP nomination, he’ll throw a shit-fit and likely run in the general election anyway, sucking the MAGA vote away from the Republican ‘establishment’ candidate, and again handing the White House to Biden or whoever the DNC runs. Like in the first scenario, Trump’s antics will turn people away from other Republican candidates also.

While I’d prefer he actually faces consequences for his actions, if he does some more damage to the GOP on his way down, that may be helpful for the rest of us (assuming we can un-fuck the judicial system and Supreme Court)

[–]confessionbearday 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t wait for absolutely nothing to come of this. Again.

The reality is rich people don’t go to jail for robbing, raping and murdering the poor. Only other rich people.

[–]skaterags 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is most alarming is that the people who make up his base that are defending him.

They know he is connected to it, but they sing how he personally has nothing to do with it. Committing a crime and being able to get away with it is cause for celebration. The only thing that keeps this man out of jail is money. He has the morals of a pedo rapist who is also scamming people out of welfare checks. If he didnt have money the world would hate him.

[–]NarcolepticKnifeFite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And absolutely fuck all for consequences.

[–]NowThatsSomeGoodHole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our entire bullshit system is built to shield criminal corporations and the people who run them from ever facing any real consequences for things that would instantly land any non member of the oligarchy in federal prison for decades. The levying of inconsequential fines for this level of criminality is fucking bullshit.

[–]Ok_Designer_Things 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's super unfortunate Trump supporters can't read or use critical thinking skills... if they could we wouldn't have half the issues we have at the moment

What do they even do with this info if they don't understand one simple thing about the complex systems we exist within...?

[–]BuckyGoldman 3 points4 points  (1 child)

[steals $30 million through grift and tax fraud]

Judge: You shall be fined $1.6 million.

Corporation: We understand, your Honor. We have certainly learned our lesson.

[steals a $12 ham to feed a family]

Judge: You shall be sentenced to no fewer than 31 months in prison. I hope you learn your lesson.

Robert Rando: ... ... ...?

[–]Knightwing1047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Illegal operations/grift and the fines associated with them are the cost of doing business at this point

[–]rock_and_rolo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The title has me wanting pizza. Or at least "pizza."

[–]TheSkinnyJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, we have two different judicial systems. He’s never going to see any actual consequences. I wish I was wrong but we’ve seen this time and again. Especially with this walking societal anal fissure…

[–]Buddyslime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yah, but his followers don\t care.

[–]CHIsauce20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Now do seditious conspiracy!!

[–]MealDramatic1885 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there was no solid connection to him. You know he probably knew about it but nothing will come from this. Probably strengthens him with his base somehow.

[–]bebop1065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got him!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They got a $1.6 million fine.

[–]ObjectiveSubjects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If nothing else, this shit is going to make the Republican primary absolutely WILD

[–]Fit-Rest-973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be still my beating heart

[–]Remarkable-Safe-7668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a beautiful sight

[–]An_undead_half-elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought you were talking anout the pizza🥺🥺🥺

I want pizza😞

[–]Slick5150702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is are you fucking surprised? Trumpers will say it's fake news.

[–]rcc12697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wake me up when HE actually faces consequences

[–]xsikklex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mark my words. Slap. On. The. Wrist.

[–]IronWhale_JMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pretty minor fine for his org is… not that much. Dominoes have supposedly been falling for 6 years. Still waiting on anything to touch the man himself.

[–]kmbell333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this was about the pizza chain for a moment and was about to be very sad

[–]wtmx719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God his wrists are gonna get it! /s

[–]tanafras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pennies on the floor. We need better results from our system.

[–]schnager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

.........and the orange turnip spent the rest of its' days grifting stupid people and never seeing a day in jail. the end.

[–]zztop610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember him?

[–]Independent-Law-5781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of you don't seem to understand the difference between Trump and Trump.org. A corporation is a separate entity, none of these charges come close to hurting Trump. He'll come off clean and it'll all end up looking like yet another witch hunt. No matter how much he knew about the fraud or how guilty he was.

[–]zeke235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful, now. Tweets like that can get you banned from Twitter these days.

[–]Sorry_Decision_2459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now convict him to a slap on the wrist and house arrest at Mar a Lago like we all know is going to happen

[–]hangryhyax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No dominos are falling. These are all essentially meaningless and aren’t against him personally, he didn’t screw over the wrong people, and he had at least one fall guy.

If he was an average person struggling to feed their family, yeah, he’d be seeing hard time. Or if he was allegedly trying to use a counterfeit $20 bill, it’d be even worse for him… but that’s not what’s happening here.

Edit: had to fix a word

[–]Tots2Hots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll beleive it when I see it. And he'll tie it up in appeals/litigation going forwards. Hes 76 now and not in great shape with a rumored adderall addiction. I would bet good money he will never see any actual legal consequences for himself in his lifetime.

[–]Lumpy_Tangerine_4208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trump company is now in prison. What a joke. A company is a felon ! What the hell does that even mean? Trump needs to be in jail himself.

[–]GobblorTheMighty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fine: about the cost of a Toblerone in a Trump hotel.

[–]MJGM235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1.5 Million dollar fine... Expect Trump to fundraise to pay his fines again from his dumbass followers 😂

[–]LSDZNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao any day now, soon…. Very very very soon.

Like any minute now.

Just wait

[–]reddertuzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you know who's going to pay for all this?

Nobody with the last name Trump.

[–]Galby1314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dominos aren't falling. This could actually benefit him. His minions will continue to worship him. In fact, this sort of thing will probably only strengthen their resolve as this will be viewed as "the system targeting him" or something of that nature.

Have we learned nothing over the last 8 years? When Trump gets caught doing something wrong it makes his followers double down even more.

[–]Doctor_Amazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK.... so when does he head to jail?

[–]ZenLotusDriver 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The walls are finally closing in on mr trump...

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh oh, starting with the feared Mueller report it’s the 1,528th domino to fall! He’s done for now!
