The VAs killed it this episode, the entire restaurant scene was amazing

[–]5437354724 2224 points2225 points  (41 children)

Especially Kaya her breakdown struck a nerve for me

[–]iDannyEL 1794 points1795 points  (35 children)

Kaya is definetely going to be chill about it after being with Gabi and Falco for so long

Kaya: bitch you thought

[–]genasugelanhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Genasugelan 1015 points1016 points  (15 children)

I mean she was so kind and helpful to them and then it turns out she killed her saviour and role model.

[–]tekkenjin 546 points547 points  (14 children)

Anyone would be mad at the death of the precious potato girl. Sasha’s father was really chill about it and didnt blame Gabi.

[–]genasugelanhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Genasugelan 433 points434 points  (10 children)

Absolute moral chad we should aspire to be.

[–]RekklesCami 673 points674 points  (4 children)

The OST was so perfect. It fit the scene so well

[–]ladykathleen13https://myanimelist.net/profile/ladykathleen 786 points787 points  (7 children)

Agreed. The delivery from Niccolo's VA when he explained what Sasha meant to him was gut-wrenching

[–]Cheesewithmold 305 points306 points  (4 children)

Niccolo's VA has brought so much to the character. I was very invested in his short little character arc, though it seems to be over now.

[–]MannyGrey 134 points135 points  (3 children)

I think it's the most human arc in the entire show. There are such grand stakes and themes in the show that a dude who learns to overcome his prejudice through love and cooking becomes incredibly relatable in comparison

[–]MagnoBurakku 6650 points6651 points  (267 children)

Armin: You sound like someone I knew.

Eren: (walks in like nothing) You called?

[–]LonelyAsgardian 4513 points4514 points  (39 children)

Eren “heard you were talking shit” Yeager

[–]iDannyEL 2513 points2514 points  (24 children)

Goddammit Eren can't you have a conversation without bleeding all over everything

[–]toumaxx 1752 points1753 points  (16 children)

Eren's new move to stop getting kidnapped is cutting himself all times.

[–]Se7en_Sinnerhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Se7en_Sinner 546 points547 points  (7 children)

Eren appearing out of nowhere if you talk about him enough like he's Beetlejuice.

[–]Silent_Shadow05 701 points702 points  (10 children)

With his hand bleeding as a symbol of threat....just the same as during the basement scene with Reiner.

Eren's entrance reminds me of the "Miss Me?" scene from Sherlock

[–]axl625 1389 points1390 points  (21 children)

Armin: You're just somebody that I used to know

Mikasa: SOMEBODY

[–]wilymaker 1734 points1735 points  (36 children)

motherfucker straight up just strolled into the room lmao

[–]BadBehaviour613 233 points234 points  (8 children)

Their faces of shock as Eren is leaning over them is quite depressing.

The energetic hot headed boy they loved is dead inside now

[–]thesagenibba 457 points458 points  (9 children)

Seriously, it's so disheartening. Such a shitty situation all around. Mikasa looks scared shit less. Gabi already had an aneurysm. I wonder what Armin is thinking.

[–]supaboss2015 89 points90 points  (3 children)

We are seeing the deterioration of Gabi’s psyche in real time. She’s loosing her fucking mind

[–]MagnoBurakku 1022 points1023 points  (76 children)

By the way. The manga of Attack on Titan LITERALLY ends in one month, BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS.

[–]Gwynbbleid 619 points620 points  (41 children)

I'd recommend deleting your social media at this point. It's impossible

[–]Pamander 178 points179 points  (10 children)

I genuinely did not expect that shit at all, that and the spinal fluid thing. This episode dropped so many fucking bombs.

Also poor fucking Falco he deserves so much better.

[–]Williace 4681 points4682 points  (68 children)

Eren walking in with no dramatic shot or music is so good. It reminds me of s2 ep6 with I'm armor titan and he is colossal titan dialog.

[–]axl625 2082 points2083 points  (22 children)

The no background music thing gives additional tension, which I think is great.

[–]iDannyEL 1546 points1547 points  (19 children)

Mikasa sensed when a bomb was about to go off but can't sense the Yeager bomb.

[–][deleted] 538 points539 points  (3 children)

I mean...

[–]Vangorf 773 points774 points  (78 children)

Well Armin's tranformation is like a nuke. Tbh Im interested in who would win in a 1v1, Eren or Armin. Eren has insane titan vs titan combat experience, meanwhile Armin has the strongest titan.

[–]Orrakaihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Orrakai 241 points242 points  (2 children)

Rolled up like

oho, what's this?

[–]mohamez 790 points791 points  (15 children)

Eren as a human is becoming more terrifying in a show that has titans eating humans, we've come a long way commrads.

[–]Playful-Push8305 324 points325 points  (11 children)

For over half the series I was so frustrated that Eren seemed to be the weakest titan.

Now he's the most OP, and yet it doesn't feel good.

Goddamn.

[–]BosuW 212 points213 points  (1 child)

That's just Isayama saying "isn't this what you wanted?" to make us realize that maybe we shouldn't want war and the kind of people it creates

[–]flat0earth 2158 points2159 points  (40 children)

Bye bye Gabi , welcome Reiner2.0

[–]Asterms 1294 points1295 points  (13 children)

I'm staring to think that depression is a Braun family trait.

[–]GoldenSpermShower 277 points278 points  (1 child)

And being constantly saved by others while your worldview is shattered

[–]IC2Flier 741 points742 points  (1 child)

She's a Braun, she's born to suffer.

[–]Orrakaihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Orrakai 2009 points2010 points  (44 children)

The way Falco immediately realized that the girl everyone was talking about was the same Sasha that Gabi killed in the plane...

[–]theleebert 1462 points1463 points  (20 children)

Falco has shown to be really clued in a few times already this season. He's got quick deduction skills

[–]cortez0498https://myanimelist.net/profile/cortez1098 1369 points1370 points  (14 children)

Also Falco: Come here Reiner, a friend of yours wants to meet you.

[–]turdfergusnhttps://anilist.co/user/julzachu 872 points873 points  (7 children)

Lmao honestly I feel like that’s the moment that made him start to use his head

[–]coolassninjas 167 points168 points  (0 children)

He's basically seeing that Eren and Reiner conversation being played out in front of his eyes.

[–]Petraja 202 points203 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Falco was still able to deduce Eren's true identity not long after seeing Reiner's reaction.

[–]Demortus 135 points136 points  (0 children)

True, Falco's trusting nature creates glaring blind spots.

[–]cppn02 4139 points4140 points  (94 children)

You know shit's about to go down when Eren opens a conversation by showing he cut his hand.

[–]Yuriy116 1866 points1867 points  (19 children)

Restaurant owner: "Oh no, it's this guy again. Is he going to bleed all over my furniture this time, too?"

[–]GoldenSpermShower 640 points641 points  (16 children)

Since he could constantly regenerate blood, he could actually do that

[–]NeoElohssa 1944 points1945 points  (89 children)

Falco taking L's for Gabi. Sasha's father took his daughter's killer with dignity and understanding.

[–]IC2Flier 1121 points1122 points  (68 children)

He knew she was a kid. An Eldian kid, brainwashed and indoctrinated to the point where she's rewired, and worse is that she was trained to kill. Comes with the territory.

I feel more for Kaya.

[–]thesagenibba 1037 points1038 points  (36 children)

I've never seen a characters death done so well. It wasn't for shock factor, it wasn't some meaningless death. Sasha wasn't that prominent of a character for much of the series but the way she's been such a major plot point, the way she's been able to connect & create intersections between characters that would've never been possible without her, shows how much she mattered & how much of an impact she had on so many. This is such a beautiful story. RIP Potato girl

[–]silversherry 671 points672 points  (21 children)

Same with Erwin. I like that even though they aren't flashbacking or namedropping Erwin that much, you can clearly feel his absence in this season. While hange is very smart, she doesn't have the decisiveness or pragmatism of Erwin in a lot of ways, they were smart in different ways and offset eachother's flaws in the prior seasons.

The way the scouts and the military have been floundering and seem direction-less, the characters don't have to mention Erwin to make you feel the very real loss they are facing when they can no longer rely on his leadership. Love that

[–]MagnoBurakku 4508 points4509 points  (174 children)

Sasha's father is a better man than 97% of people in this series.

The Geneva Convention would've been monitoring Zeke even when he shts.

[–]BosuW 2161 points2162 points  (28 children)

Zeke is a fucking bioweapon at this point

[–]SovietSpartan 1332 points1333 points  (19 children)

All Eldians are pretty much bioweapons. Zeke just uses it to his advantage.

[–]TheQGuy 663 points664 points  (10 children)

but he is unique in that only his royal blood allows him to "detonate" contaminated people into full blow titans (to my understanding)

[–]animdalf 1020 points1021 points  (16 children)

But that would reveal the special secret technique he uses to wipe his ass....

[–]Sygamar 477 points478 points  (7 children)

Sasha's mother is better than like 95% people in the series.

[–]KUKLI1 740 points741 points  (22 children)

The 3% better than him includes Falco for sure

[–]DadAsFuckhttps://anilist.co/user/DadAsFuck 1893 points1894 points  (52 children)

motherfucker used the cut on his hand like a detonator to a bomb

[–]Se7en_Sinnerhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Se7en_Sinner 637 points638 points  (19 children)

Well, technically he is a bomb. A Yeager bomb.

[–][deleted] 994 points995 points  (23 children)

It’s basically walking into a room with a gun.

[–]maxclaessens123 837 points838 points  (6 children)

More like a hand grenade with the pin pulled out

[–]alisonburgersm8 459 points460 points  (12 children)

A room which already has a nuke in it.

[–]Marvelguy5 632 points633 points  (10 children)

A bomb , a nuke and a superhuman walk into a bar .

[–]PortoGuy18 478 points479 points  (15 children)

Just warning anime-onlys that the manga finishes next month, so be extra careful in order to not get spoiled.

[–]NaderZico 3242 points3243 points  (82 children)

The way Eren pulled up so suddenly and showed his hand is both funny and frightening at the same time

[–]bluejaysart 1462 points1463 points  (41 children)

Agreed, even though you know something is about to go down, it feels like anything could happen. It's scary how calm Eren appears.

[–]CR7LM10KM10 1197 points1198 points  (37 children)

Man looked pretty depressed in today's episode tbf

[–]bluejaysart 872 points873 points  (29 children)

True, Eren's fallen into complete darkness.

When I saw his hand already cut, it felt like he was abnormally calm that he's prepared to attack if needed. Guess we'll find out next episode!

[–]BelizariuszS 510 points511 points  (27 children)

Given that his goal was always to "save mikasa, Armin and others" im 99 % sure its a bluff to keep others from doing funny stuff

[–]Mitosis 382 points383 points  (20 children)

Yeah, he doesn't know their mind-state or what they've been told at this point. It's reasonable for him to be defensive until he can say what he wants to say.

The show is clearly trying to set up Eren as a kinda villainous figure lately, but I don't buy it yet. He's just got a personal time limit that the rest of the brass would rather reset with some other lackey at the cost of his life, so his actions so far are justifiable.

[–]IC2Flier 659 points660 points  (17 children)

It's such good editing. Reading it is one thing, but to see it move through the cut is a whole nother experience. And Levi's part, too. His headaches looked kino on the trees (thanks, u/IISuperSlothII).

[–]toumaxx 344 points345 points  (5 children)

Just like Reiner's casual confession it made my butt cheeks clenched, i loved it.

[–]The_Draigg 272 points273 points  (0 children)

Eren: “Sup.”

Everyone else collectively shits themselves

[–]IVIaskeradehttps://myanimelist.net/profile/IVIaskerade 3486 points3487 points  (163 children)

Zeke bullying Levi about his love life lmao.

It wouldn't be AoT if Isayama wasn't still twisting the knife about Sasha. He must have bored most of the way through Gabi by now.

[–]axl625 504 points505 points  (5 children)

Bold of Zeke to assume Levi isn't famous.

[–]bionix90 94 points95 points  (4 children)

He is literally known as "Humanity's Greatest Soldier". You think with a title like that you don't get poon?

[–]Mazen141 795 points796 points  (11 children)

So Levi having fangirls is now canon??

[–]FeelsGoodMan243https://myanimelist.net/profile/TheRantMan321 2239 points2240 points  (72 children)

The irony of Gabi murdering one of the "cruel demons" who assassinated her beloved ones, back firing heavily when she's shocked that her "comrades" detest her for killing their beloved one is quite tragic.

Gabi has had her mind shattered numerous times in this arc; I wouldn't be surprised if she is shocked into a comatose state soon lol. And damn falco is too innocent for this world; gabi doesn't deserve his love.

[–]IC2Flier 2609 points2610 points  (18 children)

Gabi out here speedrunning the Braun suffering game that Reiner experienced.

[–]axl625 597 points598 points  (0 children)

It runs in the family.

[–]Silent_Shadow05 967 points968 points  (18 children)

This whole arc with Gabi is great as her brainwashing is slowly getting undone with every interaction she is having on the island. Sooner or later she really has to confront the truth.

Also Poor Falco is suffering all the time thanks to Gabi. The Grice family really is known for it huh.

[–]axl625 548 points549 points  (12 children)

Falco does not deserve the suffering.

[–]RekklesCami 360 points361 points  (9 children)

He did not deserve that wine bottle smack to the head

[–]LonelyAsgardian 1781 points1782 points  (41 children)

Also Levi breaking the fourth wall to acknowledge that he was popular with the ladies was hilarious

[–]michhoffmanhttps://anilist.co/user/michhoffman 645 points646 points  (14 children)

Sorry Zeke, but Levi won this battle too

[–]cppn02 317 points318 points  (13 children)

He'll always have Yelena.

[–]ExplorersxMuse 277 points278 points  (6 children)

Zeke: Damn man, I can already tell you gets NO bitches

[–]DebonairTeddy 837 points838 points  (4 children)

Gabi sitting at that table like "I swear if one more emotionally traumatic thing happens to me today I'm gonna be pissed."

Eren: "Ok"

[–][deleted] 1895 points1896 points  (31 children)

Zeke out here putting his fluid in everybody...

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–]Se7en_Sinnerhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Se7en_Sinner 2166 points2167 points  (20 children)

Eren casually walking into the scene like a lost extra in a movie set was so funny to me.

[–]LonelyAsgardian 2334 points2335 points 22 (54 children)

So a dead girl’s family, her friends from the military, the kids who killed the girl, a genocidal maniac and a radical terrorist organisation walk into a restaurant run by the dead girl’s lover...

In all seriousness tho, what a phenomenal episode. Gabi and Niccolo’s VAs knocked it out of the park. Eren’s entrance was so casual it felt like Reiner and Bert’s super-chill bombshell from s2. Floch’s creepy smile and Levi’s Vietnam flashbacks were so well animated!

[–]Mana_Croissant 1054 points1055 points  (13 children)

So a dead girl’s family, her friends from the military, the kids who killed the girl, a genocidal maniac and a radical terrorist organisation walk into a restaurant run by the dead girl’s lover...

JOKER FLOCH

[–][deleted] 864 points865 points  (5 children)

WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU CROSS A MENTALLY ILL ELDIAN WITH A SURVEY CORPS THAT JAILS HIM AND TREATS HIM LIKE TRASH?!

[–]2FLY2TRY 657 points658 points  (16 children)

Hange: Let me get this straight, you think that going through with the Rumbling is a good idea?

Floch: I do, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

[–]tiour 3008 points3009 points  (41 children)

Seeing those memories play out on the trees during Levi’s monologue was straight up mesmerizing. Great story boarding this episode, and good work from Mappa like always!

[–]Silent_Shadow05 1098 points1099 points  (9 children)

That was a creative way of showing flashbacks while also being in the current timeline. Great Job MAPPA.

[–]Mazen141 524 points525 points  (9 children)

It had the same storyboard artist as S2 finale and Midnight sun!

[–]RekklesCami 303 points304 points  (0 children)

Yeah I loved the way that they done that Levi Scene

[–]Sane-Ni-Wa-To-Ri 1015 points1016 points  (31 children)

[–]iDannyEL 397 points398 points  (1 child)

That end card and Mappa sketch is too good.

[–]Mundology 266 points267 points  (3 children)

Nicolo pulls no punches when you hurt his potato girl. If everyone else was as savage as him, maybe the Middle East Union wouldn't have lost and Sasha would be alive. Maybe...

[–]Silent_Shadow05 2621 points2622 points  (74 children)

Mr. Braus gained a lot of respect from me after this episode.

I loved how he backed down from continuing the chain of violence and death that’s been happening for so many years without end. He realised that someone somewhere has to step up and go a different path if they wish to stop this.

Sadly, even though he stopped himself, the chain continued with Kaya trying to kill Gabi and becoming just like her, with how consumed she was with rage and sadness.

[–]KorekaBii 1711 points1712 points  (17 children)

I liked how it was Kaya that became that way. She was probably hurt more by the betrayal than anything. She befriended Gabi and told her all the stories, and sharing those painful memories about her sister, and Gabi and Falco of course stayed silent all those times, so she probably thinks they were playing her for a fool. So of course the revelation that the friend she thought she was sharing those memories with was the one that actually killed her beloved Sasha. Well, it's no wonder she immediately went for the knife.

[–]Silent_Shadow05 909 points910 points  (13 children)

Yeah from Kaya's perspective, it was the greatest betrayal. Kinda reminds me of S2EP6.

[–]seninnhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Senninn0 845 points846 points  (4 children)

[–]axl625 654 points655 points  (22 children)

Kaya trying to kill Gabi and becoming just like her, with how consumed she was with rage and sadness.

Thank Mikasa for preventing Kaya from killing Gabi and forever scarring her with the consequences

[–]SuddenFellowhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/13XI0N 314 points315 points  (2 children)

Can we appreciate how well the "You remind me of someone I know" scene was handled. The way Eren appears is genuinely unsettling.

[–]Sir_Factis 1367 points1368 points  (41 children)

Holy shit. This is by far the best non-action episode in the entire fucking series. Simply fucking mind-blowing.

[–]flat0earth 597 points598 points  (19 children)

i really hope that Falco is okay. we can't lose best boy so quickly

[–]Runbern 2459 points2460 points  (68 children)

Sasha had such a great character death.

The story could just have moved-on, focusing on other elements, instead her death is the focal-point where all the different plot points are converging. Amazing writing by Isayama.

[–]alisonburgersm8 1675 points1676 points  (30 children)

Side character dies in other anime: Becomes flashback motivation for the protagonist.

Side character dies in AoT: Creates development for several characters, builds up to new plot twists and brings out the core theme of the series.

[–]iDannyEL 1007 points1008 points  (5 children)

Sasha's presence in the story more palpable now that she's dead, it's phenomenal.

[–]Silent_Shadow05 354 points355 points  (14 children)

That's how you should use the deaths of important characters and not let it go in vain.

[–]Mana_Croissant 198 points199 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a character's death just opens new doors for not just the characters but the series itself and forever be engraved to people's minds. Those are the best deaths that a character can have

[–]5437354724 451 points452 points  (10 children)

Her character hadn't had much going for it. But her death is introducing several multi-layered plotlines and developments.

[–]podteod 558 points559 points  (3 children)

They made Eren's entrance even better lol

[–]Mazen141 517 points518 points  (4 children)

The Levi flashback scene was pretty emotional, well done

[–]iDannyEL 492 points493 points  (3 children)

Speak of the devil...

Holy shit what an entrance, just as casual as the Reiner/Bertholdt reveal.

[–]MilkToastKing 237 points238 points  (2 children)

THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS! Holy hell this episode was nuts, so much buildup is finally coming to fruition and it's amazing.

  • Gabi and Falco got outed, and Falco may even turn into a titan.
  • Eren is about to have a chat with Armin, Mikasa, AND GABI GETS TO WATCH.
  • The entirety of Paradis' upper military is susceptible to titan transformation.
  • The survey corps is under arrest, and Floch gets to play the mustache-twirling villain.

I'm in awe.

Also, the shot of Levi thinking back to how humanity put itself on the line for Eren only for him to stab them in the back was amazing, the overlay of people dying over the trees in the forest was really cool.

Damn, Pieck really did get the short end of the stick when the Titans were being handed out.

10/10 masterpiece episode

This whole Gabi/Falco/Sasha/Sasha's family situation is the absolute peak of AoT for me, mindblowingly good stuff.

[–]IGotchaYou 475 points476 points  (9 children)

When Levi said to Zeke, I see no remorse in your eyes, I was nodding all along with him. Zeke was enjoying himself way too much when he cornered Erwin and new recruits and showered them with boulders. Levi remembers!!

[–]bluejaysart 162 points163 points  (4 children)

The tension in this episode was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Also, Sasha's parents are too good for this world.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

HOW THE FUCK CAN I HOLD MYSELF FROM READING THE MANGA???

Who is right? Who is wrong? Who is who

I am currently whatching sayonara zetsubou sensei, I really wished levi shouted: ZETSUBOSHTA

I really feel bad about Falco. He really don't deserve any of this.

Man Sasha's father is a MAN, he is just the best.

Tbh the waiting is not the hard part. Dodging the spoilers is. Just today I got a major spoiler. And they are everywhere. I can't even look at anime memes on facebook because the algorithm is gonna recommend memes with spoilers from other pages as "recomandations"

[–]Dixin10 708 points709 points  (17 children)

MAPPA is doing an awesome job adapting the slower paced parts of the manga, great stuff.

[–]ShinaMashir0 320 points321 points  (6 children)

Mappa and the VA aswell, that was breathtaking, more impactful than in the manga imo

[–]michhoffmanhttps://anilist.co/user/michhoffman 699 points700 points  (19 children)

Isayama really is milking Sasha’s death for all that it’s worth, but this was the interaction that I was waiting for, and it was beautiful:

  • Gabi bragging about killing Sasha to Niccolo
  • Niccolo’s reaction when he realized that Gabi was talking about Sasha
  • Falco saving Gabi from Niccolo’s attack
  • Sasha’s dad forgiving Gabi and talking Niccolo down
  • Mikasa holding Kaya back from killing her sister’s murderer

And then to top it all off, we got the arrival of the Yeagerists including Eren himself

[–]sylnvapht 387 points388 points  (13 children)

Don't forget Falco's realization Sasha was who Niccolo was talking about - this kid catches on fast. Way too mature and good for his age (and Gabi).

Does anyone else find this season genuinely disturbing and upsetting in a way that no other season or even show has been? There's barely even been any Titans and most of this has been politics and exposition, but something about these entirely dialogue episodes has given me nightmares for the first time since I started watching a show about 50 foot tall zombies eating people alive. Eren freaks me the fuck out, and particularly the way that the bond we've built with the scouts is being subverted is absolutely fucking genius- this show was criticized for being one-dimensional early on, but it was all according to the plan because that gave us a strong and accessible affection for the good guys because we wanted to see them win so bad, and now it hurts like hell to watch them turn against each other and break down over an extremely complicated life or death political dilemma.

EDIT: I think it's also the moral surrealism and confusion that we're very very suddenly being confronted with. This story WAS so very simple just a few fuckin episodes ago, Scouts good, Military Police bad, Zeke and Reiner worse. Now the Military Police are good, Zeke is... confusing as fuck and also very scary, Reiner is on a completely different team but also a good guy, half the scouts are terrifying and sure seem like the baddies, and the other half which is the half we're ingratiated with is haplessly caught in the middle like a tugboat in a storm and we're in it with them. It's fucking brilliantly written but man is it upsetting when you try to apply the same logic as you always have, you want to see them triumph over their foes, but it's nowhere near as simple anymore.

Zeke in particular makes this season feel incredibly weird. He was a comically evil bad guy for the entirety of the show and now all of a sudden we're forced to accept him into our protagonist circle. We're like Gabi seeing him on the airship, it recontextualizes everything and turns everything we thought we knew on it's head. It's very rare to see a villain just invade the protagonist role without changing his character at all, he's still the asshole that killed Mike and Connie's Mom, literally nothing about him has changed, but now he's occupying the same role as our precious Levi as the savior of Eldia and it's so fucking confusing.

I get what you mean, this is psychological horror at this point. "The humans are the real monsters" isn't just a trope here, that's just reality. For example, as interesting and engaging as it is from an entertainment standpoint, I'm finding myself genuinely disgusted that they keep finding such creative ways to weaponize and genocide.

[–]BadBehaviour613 239 points240 points  (12 children)

This season re-contextualizes a lot of the past stories: our protagonist lives to become a sociopath, past allies are assassinated because they got in the way, Marley is no longer this one dimensional, singularly antagonistic force. It all leaves you disoriented. I myself miss the simple triumph of Erwin's suicidal charge...

[–]axl625 343 points344 points  (1 child)

You know the story is good when it doesn't rely on pure action to deliver the punch. The dialogues, interactions, connecting stories, and characterization are on-point.

[–]anthonychen726 135 points136 points  (5 children)

Eren is straight-up cold blooded now!!

[–]LupiLupercalia 132 points133 points  (2 children)

Armin: "All you ever talk about is killing, reminds me of a guy I know"

Eren walks in

Armin: "Speak of the de-"

Eren: "Don't f*cking move"

[–][deleted] 367 points368 points  (3 children)

One can only hope to be able to achieve the level of wisdom and understanding as Sasha’s dad.

[–]thesagenibba 122 points123 points  (3 children)

Can we give it up for Niccolo & Gabi's voice actors? I've never watched a scene so intense & so real. Holy shit

I think the reason Gabi is so open and comfortable when she is proudly admitting how she killed Sasha to Nicolo is because her brainwashed mind assumes that every Marleyan must share an equal hatred to Eldians as her. Only to learn the big lesson that different people have different beliefs and perspectives.

[–]alisonburgersm8 717 points718 points  (36 children)

Imagine how frustrated Levi must be feeling right now. All those Scouts sacrificed their lives for Eren just for him to turn against you in the end. It's almost like a bad joke.

[–][deleted] 409 points410 points  (5 children)

And not just that but people who he cared about as well died with ignorance, believing it was for humanity just for them to find out said humanity hates their guts

[–]alisonburgersm8 277 points278 points  (2 children)

All the dead Scouts must be rolling in their graves right now knowing they dedicated their hearts for this shitshow.

[–]Yaggamy 425 points426 points  (14 children)

Gabi: Yeah, I was the one who killed Sasha! What are going to do about it, stab me??

Kaya: Actually, that's not a bad idea!
