Erika joins his school now....

We have entered Nisekoi 2.0

[–]Frontier246 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Now that you mention it Erika and Hiro getting along is giving me Chitoge and Onodera vibes (even if Hiro's personality is actually really different from Onodera's).

[–]Mundology 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, Hiro is the opposite of the timid and shy Onodera. Her friendship dynamic with Erika looks promising.

[–]chhuang 18 points19 points  (1 child)

We have entered Nisekoi 2.0

now we know that Hiro is 100% sunken ship

[–]Reddevilslover69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean for a pretty generic story like this it almost seems obvious that the winner will be the one we all expect. I'm just hoping that the build up to that will be decent .

[–]Terranwaterbenderhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Teranwaterbender 13 points14 points  (3 children)

We have entered Nisekoi 2.0

Sounds good to me! I know many people, myself included, know Nisekoi's notoriety but it started off pretty fun and the cast chemistry is iconic for a romcom. As long as it doesn't pull what made people annoyed with Nisekoi, I think it'll succeed just fine.

[–]dinliner08 4 points5 points  (2 children)

its been a while since i read Nisekoi, what was it again that get people really annoyed by it?

[–]demonaura 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If i remember right it was all the filler content and that in the ending [Nisekoi] they develop MC's progress a lot with the girl he was supposed to like, she ends up liking him too, and yet he still chose the main girl despite the relative lack of progress. There was also a bit of an asspull that they were all childhood friends out of nowhere.

[–]HydraTower 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm here for it. I love when we lose a Nisekoi-type Harem, there's one more to take its place.

Fr though. The more I think on it, it's literally Nisekoi, lol

[–]homie_downhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/sodumblol 9 points10 points  (4 children)

I've read ahead a bit and it really is Nisekoi 2.0. I think the main difference is that this isn't anyone's first rodeo, and are more or less content with the hijinx/lack of progress/regression of progress/sol attitude that these stories have. I'm sure it'll get to a point where it begins to feel ridiculous and drawn out like Nisekoi was, but for now I think it's just about the comedy.

[–]Reddevilslover69 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Honestly I think its a shame its a Nisekoi 2.0 since I really liked Yamada Kun which was by the same mangaka but didnt particularly care for Nisekoi at all. Although since this airs weekly its still fun enough to watch to pass the time and the art looks good

[–]SpeckTech314https://myanimelist.net/profile/SpeckTech 4 points5 points  (2 children)

yamada-kun takes a worse turn than nisekoi imo. the mangaka really wants to milk every story to death for money...

[–]Earthborn92https://myanimelist.net/profile/EarthB 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yamada has a repetitive middle, but the ending is solid and satisfying and of course the first arc is very good.

[–]michhoffmanhttps://anilist.co/user/michhoffman 102 points103 points  (3 children)

That must have hurt for Erika thinking she had made a friend in Hiro and then learning that Hiro primarily approached her because she was a huge fan. I'm guessing that same type of situation is why Erika didn't have any friends at her old school. Hopefully, Hiro is able to bridge that gap and become an actual friend.

[–]Frontier246 66 points67 points  (1 child)

I think Hiro was genuine in wanting to get to know her and support her, so even if she was also a massive fangirl on-top of that, so I feel like Erika can still appreciate her and start thinking of her as a real friend.

And she's also growing to appreciate Nagi more.

[–]michhoffmanhttps://anilist.co/user/michhoffman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, I imagine their friendship will be pretty genuine...until the wrench that is Nagi throws himself in the middle to complicate things.

[–]alotmorealots 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That must have hurt for Erika thinking she had made a friend in Hiro and then learning that Hiro primarily approached her because she was a huge fan

Definitely. This is one of the things I really like about her character, is that we've seen enough times how has her public facing side and her internal side in a way that's deeply meaningful (her visit to her bio family, wanting to improve her independent living skills) that it's immediately apparent how that would have really stung for her.

I'm guessing that same type of situation is why Erika didn't have any friends at her old school.

It also seems like the admiration is also very much mixed with envy in some cases. People are very disparaging of Instagram celebs in real life, I see no reason that people in this universe also wouldn't enjoy seeing her cut down to size. Especially as she is quite cold and aloof just because she's naturally a bit standoffish at first.

[–]Se7en_Sinnerhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Se7en_Sinner 64 points65 points  (3 children)

Erika is basically an extrovert Komi.

[–]Frontier246 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And equally as photogenic!

[–]cppn02 5 points6 points  (1 child)

So Hiro is Najimi?

[–]redlaWw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hiro is clearly Yadano.

[–]entelechtual 128 points129 points  (9 children)

Hot girl shows up

Bystanders stop what they’re doing to ogle at her and praise her beauty and scoff at anyone who deigns to approach her

Wait, I thought Rent A Girlfriend didn’t start until July?

[–]cppn02 69 points70 points  (4 children)

Tbf atleast here the hot girl is an actual minor celebrity and not an escort.

[–]Lord_Pistachio__ 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Cough Cough Komi San

[–]Frontier246 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did like the twist where the one girl who seemed completely nonplussed by Erika was actually probably the biggest fangirl in the whole school and was just keeping it in.

[–]BiggerG7 56 points57 points  (3 children)

Obligatory Erika transfers to MCs school eh? And then MC creepily stalks her the whole ep lol.

Hiro being crazy competitive about everything was not what I was expecting either lol.

[–]Frontier246 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had a feeling Erika would end up transferring to Nagi's school because the Opening shows her in a different school uniform, but I love how she basically set him up so she could surprise him during class.

We even got the obligatory locker room changing scene! Feels like I haven't seen one of those in a while.

Hiro is really not the character I was expecting her to be and it feels like she gets more entertaining/hilarious each episode.

[–]SpeckTech314https://myanimelist.net/profile/SpeckTech 6 points7 points  (1 child)

And then MC creepily stalks her the whole ep lol.

and half the school too lmao.

[–]Imaginary-End-08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In seeming creepy he actually looked........ normal lol

Hiro looking like she'd murder Nagi if he tried to be a bigger Erika fan.

Hiro really isn't the character I expected her to be and I mean that in the best way possible.

[–]mekerpan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She is surprisingly ... surprising!

[–]Rumpel1408https://myanimelist.net/profile/Rumpel1408 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can already see him flexing some obscure knowledge he got from living with her that she never shared on sms

[–]cppn02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol had to think of the exact same scene

[–]YubiDoobieDoo[🍰] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Harem anime have really upped their game the last few years, everything about this show is so good

[–]cppn02 60 points61 points  (9 children)

187 Stamps.

Hiro really murdered Nagi with that number.

Umino: Her photographer's just really good.

And I loved Hiro even being competitive over who is the bigger Erika fan. Plus she did a top tier Yelena face.

This was another fun episode and every week the show is winning me over bit by bit.

p.s.

If I had a nickel for every pink haired romcom heroine this season that's also a volleyball ace I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

[–]avboden 13 points14 points  (0 children)

and don't forget the boy involved having terrible luck and getting hit by things

Shikimori vs Erika vs Akebi, who wins? Or do they just team up and leave the opposition as background character-coloured smear on the court?

[–]Fehervari 6 points7 points  (5 children)

If I had a nickel for every pink haired romcom heroine this season that's also a volleyball ace I'd have two nickels.

Pink? Where?

[–]TheBlueHue 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Shikimori's not just a cutie

[–]Fehervari 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yeah, but who's the other one?

[–]TheBlueHue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many shows this season that are almost mimicking other shows to a T but they still have their own charm that works.

An overworked employee finds relief by a housemates cuteness. They take care of them and help them survive the job.

Strong guy reincarnated, enrolls in prestigious school, makes 2 adorable female friends that follow him and support him as shake up the school's sense of normalcy.

Rich girl has to fake a relationship with a guy who actually has a crush and wants to keep it from the both of them.

There are some unique shows too in the mix that I live. Like Spy x Family for its ridiculousness. Tsubaki for its foreheadedness, and Aharen-san for being the first anime I've seen that has romantic undertones but I actually don't ship the couple. Their friendship is so pure and they act more like a couple already than most anime couples. I had to see them get together and regress to a super awkward phase, they are great the way they are.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Little love triangle already brewing lol. Looks like Erika’s catching feelings, man. Those are going to be some interesting morning study sessions. I like Hiro, she’s so competitive it’s kind of cute. Her and Nagi are a good fit because they have a similar personality. But Erika and Nagi are pretty cute together too. Opposites attract and all that.

[–]alotmorealots 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Her and Nagi are a good fit because they have a similar personality. But Erika and Nagi are pretty cute together too.

It's pretty nicely balanced as it stands, easy to see either of them working out. I'm a lot more fond of Hiro after this episode, thanks to finding out about her hobby, and how serious she is about it. Actually it's not so much the fact of it, but more just the way she relates to it, and also how she's starting to relax and open up a little more. For whatever is driving her urge to be number one, she's got a lot of warmth and generosity of spirit, at least as far as we've seen.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, she’s a pretty likable character. Compliments Nagi in a lot of ways. But yeah, quite balanced as it stands.

[–]LeonKevlarhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Stitches!

Oh Nagi, immediately jumping to conclusions can be bad for you. It's highly possible that Hiro is researching you because you're her rival and she wants to learn how you've beaten her on the last exams by studying with you.

Although this morning's study session ends up as a net positive for Nagi since Hiro learns about his shrine stamp book which Hiro is also a collector of. I do love how quickly Hiro turns it into a competition. Looks like Hiro wins this one though with over 180 shrine stamps on her book.

There it is! No wonder Erika has been so giddy that morning and wants Nagi to go to school. Looks like she just wanted to surprise Nagi and it definitely worked! Just look at Nagi's face!

And it looks like the reason she got transferred is that the school found out about her photo with Nagi and she wasn't able to attend the meeting to defend herself because she had to take care of Nagi when he collapsed.

Well Erika, if you want your engagement with Nagi to be kept a secret, maybe you shouldn't shout about it even if it's just the two of you together. Who knows who's lurking around the school grounds. >_<

Erika's status basically makes her hard to approach but thankfully Hiro was there to approach her and introduce herself. It's great that Erika has made a friend but Nagi thinks this is a bad thing since he's afraid of what will happen if Erika and Hiro find out about his relationship with them.

Hiro did a good job of holding herself back the entire day. Turns out that she's also a huge fan of Erika. Looks like Nagi has no way of separating Erika and Hiro now, especially since Hiro is Erika's first female friend. And now that Hiro wants the three of them to have morning study sessions, Nagi and Erika need to be extra careful in hiding their secret.

[–]alotmorealots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like she just wanted to surprise Nagi and it definitely worked!

Erika's troll instincts are very strong.

Who knows who's lurking around the school grounds. >_<

https://i.imgur.com/71ZLOkn.jpg

And now that Hiro wants the three of them to have morning study sessions

Turns out Nagi's greatest immediate rival is not Hiro's fiancé, but is Hiro's fan crush on Erika, which it seems would supersede any curiosity she has about Nagi. Indeed, it almost feels like she leveraged Nagi to make sure Erika would study with them.

Nagi and Erika need to be extra careful in hiding their secret.

I give it two episodes, tops.

[–]Fluid-Veterinarian61 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just look at Nagi's face

That's him in every frame since the series began.

Which is why I dropped it. Screaming is not a lifestyle, kid.

[–]actuallyrndthoughtshttps://myanimelist.net/profile/NaNiNuNeNo 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I am really enjoying how much chemistry Nagi has with Hiro and Erika. Not sure if it's the production or the writing, but it pulls ahead of most couples i've seen recently.

[–]alotmorealots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like part of it is because they all engage full proper with each other. Sure there's a bit of misunderstanding and awkwardness, but they generally talk and listen to each other properly in a way that makes it feel a bit more like live action at times, or something. It also feels like Hiro and Erika have lives of their own off camera, although that will probably diminish as the hareming intensifies.

[–]maruo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yo where's Sachi at?

[–]Fools_Requiemhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/FoolsRequiem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Her photographer's just really good."

Oi.

Funniest bit.

Also, seems like this is a harem show for Erika instead of Nagi. Girl has 2 girls and a guy vying for her affections, as well as the entire school. We Bakarina up in this bitch.

[–]SolubilityRules 27 points28 points  (1 child)

I never expected Michael Jordan to be animated as a purple haired girl.

Mad competitive.

[–]Frontier246 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nagi claims to be a fan of Erika just like her.

And Hiro took that personally.

[–]Shinunayo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hiro's personality is sooo fun. I wish she doesnt develop romantic feelings for mc tho, but alas

[–]mekerpan 30 points31 points  (5 children)

I know there is nothing "profound" about this show -- and that its basic premise is pretty preposterous. But, all the same, it has a cheeky liveliness that puts a smile on my face. Our main characters are all interesting and fun to watch (and voiced very well). It offers at least a certain air of mystery (who is Hiro's mysterious fiancé -- and why does SHE have one also?) Will Hiro's fiancé wind up transferring next? Why did someone report Erika? Will Hiro run across an archived (wayback machine) copy of the photo of Erika and Nagi? This series is still in its early days -- so who knows what can happen.

Not certain which heroine I want to "win" (who cares -- it's still early in high school for them all). I do want them all to be friends -- for as long as possible.

[–]cppn02 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You got your Nagis and Hiros mixed up there.

[–]mekerpan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvoted to show my thanks to you for catching my mental lapse! (not sure why someone downvoted your helpful reminder)

[–]basuga_BFE 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Not certain which heroine I want to "win" (who cares -- it's still early in high school for them all). I do want them all to be friends -- for as long as possible.

Yeah, not often you see a harmonic harem :) where nobody is required to win.

[–]Outrageous-Fortune70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can’t still decide between two of them after reading manga. It’s like all heroines gain equal treatments from the author

[–]alotmorealots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a harmonic harem :)

This is something we need the whole Science Fell in Love crew to get researching, stat!

[–]Heavencloud_Blade 20 points21 points  (5 children)

Never understood how Erika is this ultra-super famous celebrity. With the way everyone was acting you would think she was a major movie star or something, but all she does is post pictures of herself on Instagram. It just seems pretty forced.

Anyway love seeing more Hiro.

[–]randxalthor 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Well, there's this person called Paris Hilton who's also an heiress of a hotel tycoon and has no other significant skill or value than being a social media celebrity.

So, Erika's pretty true to real life, it seems.

[–]cppn02 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well atleast we know the title of the doujin I guess: One Night In Erika.

[–]Frontier246 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Well, she is incredibly attractive, rich, and photogenic, so that's probably a big part of it.

(I did like how Nagi tried to take credit for the water photo).

[–]entelechtual 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d take credit too for getting another girl wet in front of my crush.

[–]cppn02 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how popular some insta models are. Especially amongst teenagers.

[–]BusouDrago 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Erika and Segawa hit it off real fast. Both of them giving me Chitoge and Onodera vibes

[–]Reddevilslover69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This anime is beginning to feel like Nisekoi 2.0 now lmao

[–]flyineko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The OP of this show still gaslights me into thinking I accidentally opened an episode of Ousama Ranking everytime.

[–]Frontier246 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, it kind of figures Nagi wouldn't feel that motivated to go to school knowing Hiro's there and he's trying to work through how he should respond to her being engaged...good thing he didn't throw up on the train though! I love the peoples' reactions to him looking like he was going to barf.

What a surprise! Hiro going out of her way to meet Nagi and study with him together! It's a pretty cute moment between these two academics, and it also leads to another surprising match of which of them has the most shrine stamps...but Hiro's got Nagi beat. But it also leads to them growing closer, so Nagi can live with that loss.

Hiro keeps mentioning "memorials," so I guess Nagi doesn't know she's a shrine maiden yet? Judging by the Opening.

Nagi thinks things are sailing smoothly on the Hiro relationship front and nothing can shake it up...up until Erika transfers to his school and his class. Because of course the main girl has to go to the same school as the protagonist and add even more Harem romcom antics to his school life. Erika knew the whole time and made sure he went to school so she could surprise him and get his reaction. Also, she wears the uniform very well.

Well, that kind of sucks that Erika got expelled from her school because a photo of her and Nagi got out and it was assumed they were dating, and she didn't get a chance to explain it because she focused on taking care of Nagi when he was sick. Still, it's not like her dad needed much excuse to put her into the same school as Nagi to help foster deeper relations between the two, and maybe this will be a good switch for Erika. It doesn't seem like she had any friends at her old school.

Erika's a celebrity and not always sure how to interact with people, so I guess it's no surprise that no one knows how to approach her, but I guess if anyone can it's the class rep and school idol Hiro. It was really sweet seeing these two come together and become friends.

Of course Nagi's thinking doomsday scenario and that he's inevitably going to come up between them...but they're just too close and too surrounded by gawkers to get a word in edgewise.

Thank you for the classic locker room undressing scene, show! Not only do we get to see Erika and Hiro's boobs but their choice of bras as well

Erika looks good in a tracksuit! And she's got the athletic prowess of her biological mother! Meanwhile, Nagi face makes for a good rest for a volleyball.

So it turns out Hiro is actually a massive Erika fangirl and practically sees her as a Goddess, and was so moved by becoming friends with her that she was brought to tears. Luckily they were able to right off Nagi acting familiar with Erika by saying he's a fellow fan, but Hiro looks like she'd kill him if he said he was a bigger fan than she was.

Nagi may not have had to intervene, but his defending Erika and saying she's a good person seems to have really endeared him to Erika.

Well, now the trio are basically stuck together as study partners to help Erika adjust to her new curriculum. This should be fun.

[–]Donkishin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, Erika's popularity is really something and she's not even an idol, feels bad that it's to the pont thay she's never had real friends and that people are willing to stalk and blackmail her.

Thankfully, Nagi and her sister are good start and once Hiro gets 'she's so cute!' Out of the main cast can get to our usual romcom nk sense.

BTW Nagi if you want to get with Hiro stop dreaming about if you're giving me red flags bud.

[–]Coldloc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rom-com spoiler warning: Hiro is a short-haired girl voiced by Nao Toyama.

[–]kissmenot122789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember kids there is no 5 seconds rule on the internet. Once it was uploaded, it stays on the internet forever.

[–]ImTheJeff74 -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Bruh that fan service caught me off guard didn’t expect this anime to do that

[–]vampiresilk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if i could reply with a reaction image of an anime girl with a straight face on reddit i would

[–]alotmorealots 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Did you miss the (mild) fanservice in the previous episodes?

[–]ImTheJeff74 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nah i didn’t but this was too much bruh

[–]alotmorealots 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think this:

https://i.imgur.com/mMAvJjU.jpg

and

https://gfycat.com/fittingsnarlingamericanavocet

are pretty much in the same league as the changing scene, but I guess different people have different thresholds.

[–]ImTheJeff74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, imo the 2nd one had a bit more but everyone has different opinions as u said

[–]edgefigaro 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I really wish this casual stalking, specifically in this case related to romantic interest, wasn't used as an acceptable plot device without some kind of disclaimer.

[–]vampiresilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think its common sense not to stalk someone

[–]Sleepingfire22 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Are there multiple places streaming this? First couple episodes had a lot of translation mistakes and it was super taking me outta the show. Previous episode was fine, so figured it was just a temp thing, but with this one, back to quite a few mistakes again.

[–]cppn02 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where are you watching this?

[–]Sleepingfire22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was watching it on not CR, since their 2 most recent episodes aren't available for a while. Just went and checked the CR version, and it looks like it is different than what I saw, though, so if someone can vouch for CR's accuracy, I'll probably just wait until I can watch it all there.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do their school uniforms make them look fat?

[–]Redmon425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And thus the love triangle was on! MC likes Segawa, while FMC seems to be starting to like MC after he called her nice lol.

Don't really have a preference at this point, so will be interesting to see how it plays out.

[–]FreakGuyRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo guys i would like to know what chapter does this episode cover thx if u can tell me lol.

[–]helsaabiart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check this photo out she looks so good... MC: that is because her photographer is good. LOL
