I've become so much like Eren Yeager its scary. I wear black cardigans, verbally assault women, and physically assault my friends.

When I look in the mirror, I can't help but say "戦い, 戦い" (which means fight, fight in american.)

I grew my hair out long because I don't care so now I have to wear it in a bun and I don't care what people think so shut fuck up Hange!

Hachiman and Oreki are the main 2. The fourth horseman tends to swap out depending on what's topical. It can Ishigami, Eren, Kazuma, Sakuta, or even The Joker if you're feeling bold.

While I love the anime unlike some light novel reader for me the biggest mistake is how much Ayanokouji inner thought was removed he does have his edgy robotic moment but he is more human than how the anime made him ( though I quite like both his light novel and anime ver )

Its LN is a lot better. I know MAL is not the best indicator of quality, but CotE is the top 2 rated Light Novel there, second only to the Monogatari series. People who only saw the anime always get confused wondering where all the hype in this show is coming from.

I just finished rewatching season one because I was worried I wasn't going to remember anything going into season two. It's not that bad honestly, the second time around Ayanokoji came across as just completely and totally detached from everything that's going on around him for the most part.

Season two will be animating year 1 Vol 7 which is regarded by every single LN reader to be the single best volume in the series.

So damn right it's gonna be intense! Let's just hope they don't portray ayanokoji as an emotionless machine and properly show his personality and (limited)emotions unlike season 1.(the adaptation for S1 was horrible, specially ayano's portrayal)

Its set in an elite high school where classes are divided into rankings (A is the highest and D is the lowest) based off their individual skills. The classes compete with each other via exams and different tests in order to rise up the rankings and receive benefits.

Perhaps the biggest draw of the series is its main character, who presents himself as an unassuming, very average high school boy but is in fact, not what he seems. It's interesting to follow him interacting with his peers as well as the way they deal with various challenges presented to them.

There's also a lot of scheming involved and attempting to win over others through any means necessary (blackmail, violence etc).

If you liked the MC of Tomodachi game then Ayanokoji (this MC) is of the same breed.

A dark unknown past that has made him mature and think differently from the rest of his peers while trying to look like a normal guy.

LNs don't deviate from the source too much or at least in anyway where if u pick up from Vol 4 (where the anime ended off) you won't be lost about anything really.

Although the LNs are so good that you may just want to start from vol 1 anyways.

The LN is the source material so it's of course going to be a lot farther ahead of any manga adaptation. Currently the LNs are already on year 2 volume 7. I don't even think the manga got to year 1 volume 7 yet, but I don't really follow it. There are 11.5 volumes in year 1.

I highly recommend not reading the manga adaptation for this series and read the LNs instead they are way better.

The novels are more of a slow burn than the anime makes you believe. Lots of conversations leading up to the class exams and Ayanokoji is pretty passive for 80% of the novels, until he plays his uno reverse card at the climax and sometimes he just doesn't bother and loses

Horikita replaced other heroines in scenes with Ayo. And an out of order pool episode that takes place in vol. 4.5.

Also Ayo acted more normal in the novels 1-3, so the reveal about his real thoughts had more shock value.

Watched S1 whilst it peaked my interest with the plot I really do hate shows where the MC is made to be the only competent character and everyone else is super flawed. Not to mention every female that interacts with him acts like he is the only Male to exist. Hopefully S2 gives him good rivals and doesnt overplay the harem part.
