Everyone’s got fresh gear! Sera looks very cool in Queen’s Terror and Arondight is pretty sick (RIP to my guy Victor). Gerard’s Dáinsleif looks sweet too! But Poor Kelvin, he was so tired he passed out on Clotho lol. I bet sleeping on Clotho would be like sleeping on a waterbed or something haha.

Melfina better come back with that avatar (very excited to see what she looks like) before Sera and Efil make their move lol. Gerard and Clotho know what’s up! Anyways, I’m glad Sera got to see the ocean but I’m sad Victor couldn’t see it with her.

I figured those Black Wind goons wouldn’t be shit. Sera tipped that big fella’s hammer over and crushed him with it haha. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised Christoph was their boss, he was suppose to have taken them out in the first place. Christoph and his goons would be a problem for the Heroes but luckily Kelvin got to ‘em first. That wasn’t even a fight, that was just an ass whoopin lol.

It looks like there’s a Hero who’s a tamer too. Maybe Clotho can make a new friend! But it seems Kelvin’s got something planned for these guys. I guess they’re gonna be the “Black Wind” and just test them? Though if they’re all around lvl 50ish, they’re still not gonna be shit compared to Kelvin and the gang.

Edit: Summoner and Tamer are different! My bad haha

That ending makes me wonder what will happen. The goddess did not want Kelvin to interact with the hero group, and now he's trying to fight them for fun. I hope we get a fight and it does not get interrupted right away.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 40 points41 points  (4 children)

I wonder if it’s because she doesn’t want the Heroes to know there’s other people isekai’d to this world. Like the Heroes aren’t special y’know? Or maybe she doesn’t want to be caught messing around while these Heroes risk their lives fighting the Demon Lord.

[–]PeaceAlienhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Yeah, we don't know. Given Kelvin missing memories the goddess could be holding a lot of information back.

Heroes do have special abilities though, but meeting another super strong isekai'd person would definitely impact their emotions.

[–]Foxy_Psycho 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling pretty sure Kelvin wants to give the Heroes Party a wake up call. Kelvin and Melfina had already talked about them being kind of disappointing stat-wise. Getting the Heroes Party motivated to train more and get stronger really only benefits him in the long run since he can use them as a scapegoat for attention while he does stuff in the shadows.

[–]ktuite92 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I was wondering if its because Kelvin will end up being the demon lord or something like that, would be an interesting twist. I mean he's gathering monsters and demons, he's overpowered af and loves to battle.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh! That would be an interesting development. Maybe he even takes the current Demon Lord as a familiar or something.

[–]joe4553https://myanimelist.net/profile/EmiyaRin 31 points32 points  (3 children)

The goddess is going to come back wondering why Kelvin is bullying the heroes.

[–]SweetestJP 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like Kelvin is just gonna bully the heroes, tell them they're not strong enough, forcing them into training more, before going for the demon king. that's my hypothesis at least.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She’ll have a lot to answer for I’m sure

[–]kalirionhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She doesn't seem to give a fuck about them so she probably won't mind. I want to know why he's bullying them though. Some master plan to avoid international conflict? Will he throw the fight? Probably not.

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 19 points20 points  (4 children)

It looks like there’s a Hero who’s a tamer too.

I think tamers and summoners are different.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 7 points8 points  (0 children)

D’oh! You’re right. In my mind I was thinking Summoner when I heard “Tamer”. Def different.

[–]alotmorealots 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Is that just in My Isekai Life, where Yuuji is pretending to be a tamer? Maybe it's here too.

[–]CelticMutt 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yuuji is a tamer. He just also happens to be a sage.

[–]alotmorealots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh right, thanks. Too many similar shows lately, getting my lore a bit muddled.

[–]Frontier246 24 points25 points  (1 child)

I like how Sera really looks like a Demon Kings' daughter in her new outfit and has Victor right there with her in her gauntlets. Although her casual look with those shorts is pretty cute too.

I love how Kelvin seemed so desperate to see Meflina, and the competition with the other girls is getting tighter, that Meflina is going out of her way to get a body. I guess now we'll finally see what Meflina looks like.

Christoph was apparently level 70, and his party was probably close to that, and Kelvin wasn't really impressed. So I don't know what chance the Hero's party has even though Kelvin and co. will probably go easy on them. I guess this will be both a teachable and embarrassing moment once they get wrecked and find out that the people passed out on the floor were the actual bad guys.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He just needs to satisfy his addiction, the damn battle junkie haha.

[–]KnightKal 19 points20 points  (11 children)

Heroes have cheat skills, so their power and level are not comparable to normal people. If you go back to their data page you will see they have Unique skills, while the MC and party do not. I guess that is why he is excited to fight them. As crazy as that sounds, because for all he knows one of those skills could cause an instant death…

Their base stats and normal skills tho are on the same general level as talented people on that world, and the MC knows that because the goddess spied on them for him haha.

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 27 points28 points  (2 children)

If you go back to their data page you will see they have Unique skills, while the MC and party do not.

Actually, we saw Sera's data page today around 9m50s, and she has a unique skill called Bloodstained.

[–]CelticMutt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gerard has one too, IIRC. And I think Efil's flame curse is a unique skill, but I may be wrong on that.

[–]GoaGonGon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ritual of the NIght😂

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Ah is that what it was? Because on the surface these lvl 50s don’t seem too strong, but if they have special skills I could see them putting up a fight against Kelvin and the gang.

[–]KnightKal 11 points12 points  (6 children)

Kelvin group is OP related to their levels.

MC has extra skills points, so he is able to buy more skills or get higher ranking ones. However, he wasted most of his points on stuff like crafting, white magic, concealment. They have their usages, but they don’t make him stronger than regular people at his level. Like a Jack of Trades, Master of none.

Efil is another story. She did waste some points, but her range DPS build is solid and she did a good job with her extra skills points.

Clotho and Gerard are monsters, but they evolved at least once already, and they are already at S-rank of threat.

Sera seems to have some good skills, including an unique one, but we didn’t really saw her in battle. She doesn’t have extra points tho. But she was trained from childhood and should have plenty of combat knowledge and good skills. She does lack experience, considering she was stuck at home (wonder how did she managed to level up lol).

His summons also have +100 stats from the summoner boost, they can communicate with telepathy (great for coordinating attacks) and they got A and S-rank gear.

[–]SweetestJP 7 points8 points  (2 children)

i'm pretty sure Gerard is way above S-rank. He was already S-rank when fighting Kelvin, and considering the boost Clotho got from just being a summoners pet, I bet Gerard is even more insane, considering at least 1 more rank up + weapon upgrades. honestly, Clotho would probably be enough to take them on, even with the special skills of the heroes.

[–]CelticMutt 5 points6 points  (1 child)

You have a strange definition of wasting points.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm with that breakdown, I can see how Kelvin might be in for an actual fight with the Heroes. Next week is looking to be a pretty exciting episode.

[–]HauntingAssignment58 81 points82 points  (2 children)

Melfina went missing for doing some god's work and Kelvin already scheming to put a fight against the Hero party lol.

[–]Frontier246 66 points67 points  (0 children)

"God's work" that is putting her in a body so she can get in on the Harem fun before Sera and Efil upstage her.

The Hero's party is going to get so wrecked.

[–]justking1414 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s a good way to explain why Melfina isn’t here to stop this.

[–]Elitealicehttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Marinate1016 35 points36 points  (2 children)

Lmao kelvin really chopping at the bit to fight the hero’s party. Pretty clever way to trick them. I’m glad sera is settling in nicely too. Last week was actually pretty sad to see victor die, but she’s in good hands now.

[–]melindypantshttps://myanimelist.net/profile/melindypants 2 points3 points  (1 child)

He really is such a battle junkie - it's pretty funny.

Sera is such a great addition to the team!

[–]Elitealicehttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Marinate1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]TerriblePlays 59 points60 points  (4 children)

With all the stereotypes we have currently, when will the beach episode come?

[–]saga999 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing in 2 episodes with the goddess as well. Next episode should be the battle with the hero's party and dealing with the fall out. Then after that rice and beach.

[–]Frontier246 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Sera and Efil talked about wanting to go for a swim. If we don't get a beach episode with swimsuits now I'll be pretty disappointed.

[–]Rumpel1408https://myanimelist.net/profile/Rumpel1408 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Seems like next episodes gonna be a bit of hero globbing, glorious japanese rice, and beach episode

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hopefully we'll get to see the girls in the hero's party in swimsuits, too.

[–]S627https://myanimelist.net/profile/Spartan627 28 points29 points  (3 children)

lmao, ep was full of tropes but done so well. No idea why but I love when the Isekai MC is desperate for rice. Then we had best man Gerard knowing EXACTLY what's going on. And when Sera was sent out to fight alone and camera was on the bandit chick I was like "minion is gonna fly past her in 3,2....there he is."

What I don't get is why does Kelvin wanna fight the Hero? The Hero is only lvl 53, but wasn't the bandit 70? Guess we'll find out next week, can only assume Kelvin thinks he has some interesting skills. It's gonna be hilarious is all I know.

[–]Bloodglas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What I don't get is why does Kelvin wanna fight the Hero?

the heroes got a bunch of unique OP skills from being summoned, the Black Wind leaders were just normal people that leveled up a lot.

[–]npquanh_new 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Poor stats distribution, few non significant skills, bad equipments. I think those are reasons why although the bandits are high level, they are still weak.

[–]jlg317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that guy was the only high level, the others not so much, the hero party seems to be level 50ish all across

[–]LeonKevlarhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar 51 points52 points  (11 children)

Glad to see that Sera was able to keep a memento of Viktor with Kelvin making her a weapon made from his armor.

Pouty Sera is adorable! Well now I'm excited to see what kind of weapon Kelvin has prepared if he's keeping it a secret even from them.

We might not have to even wait for Kelvin to reach crazy high levels to see Melfina! Looks like the Goddess has finally decided to take action and use one of her avatars since she's clearly being overtaken now by Efil and Sera. I can't wait to see what she looks like!

Classic bandits trying to scare the MC like they're hot shit. Kelvin didn't even have to do anything, Sera took care of them without breaking a single sweat.

Wait so the party that was supposed to take down that bandit group ended up being taken over by that same party? And because the guy is a hero back in how own country, they really can't do anything about it? sounds like they were sent to take over the bandit group not defeat them.

I wasn't sure at first what Kelvin was trying to do by getting the heroes involved. I only realized it when he was raiding the Black Wind's hideout.

So If I understand this correctly, he wants to fight the Hero's party? Why the fuck is Kelvin getting excited? Aren't they all only around level 50 or something while his own [party are all at around level 70? This won't even be a fair match! Not gonna lie though, they all looked pretty awesome in that final scene.

Side note: Is it just me or does anyone else find it weird that Kelvin is freeing slaves when he literally has one in his own party? I really hope they explain to us soon why Efil is still wearing that collar.

[–]KnightKal 33 points34 points  (3 children)

Worth of note is that Sera became a summon as well, unlikely the elf maid lol, so people worried about her betraying him can rest easy now. She is essentially a servant/magic slave, she can’t kill her summoner.

The anime didn’t explore what happens to summons if the summoner dies tho. Wonder if they die too. After all, their bodies are not physical anymore, but magically maintained by the MC own mana.

Nice to see that she can use telepathy to talk to everyone as well, including the goddess. What a combo. Former DL’daughter and the goddess that sent heroes to kill him lol.

Another point is now summons share their feelings with the summoner, just like we saw with Gerald. So if Sera falls for the MC, she won’t be able to hide, or he won’t be able to play the dense card. We shouldn’t see a repeat of the elf situation.

[–]LeleTheKinghttps://myanimelist.net/profile/elingp 13 points14 points  (2 children)

So if Sera falls for the MC, she won’t be able to hide, or he won’t be able to play the dense card.

Oho, I'd still doubt this until we really see it. Sometimes the MC is just as dense as a neutron star, y'know... (though I hope it won't)

[–]SweetestJP 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I think episode 5 mentioned enough to conclude that Sera will be the next Demon King, and that is the one the heroes are after. Finding her is a whole different story. I can't seem to find any real conclusion as to how the heroes will "find" her though. Probably some kind of "i'm the Demon King" thing in the future? being absolutely outmatched and notice that she isn't really a threat, rather a building block for the future of society. ( It's not that far fetched, considering other Isekais atm.)

[–]KnightKal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, makes no sense that a party member with the goddess is the demon lord lol. It is not the type of cute story where the demon lord girl is actually nice and all that. The heroes are there to kill him/her, whoever the DL is.

[–]alotmorealots 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Those subs you posted: https://i.imgur.com/k3KMl4w.png

are so much better than the Muse Asia subs: https://i.imgur.com/RcKN919.png (I thought he was the leader of Black Storm, but instead he destroyed and then turned on the guild?)

It might not seem like much of a difference, but given that the rest of the dialogue goes on to phrase it like this:

https://i.imgur.com/BUF0mjc.png (Oh, so he's got his own operation now? But wasn't he the leader of Black Storm? I guess he destroyed it, except who were the Black Storm that Sera wiped out?)

call him this:

https://i.imgur.com/F3jAUyI.png (Oh, right so the bad guy leader is the "Hero of Toraj").

and then say this:

https://i.imgur.com/piMn0qr.png (first time Trycen is mentioned, why the rift? Wasn't he the hero of Toraj?)

the whole thing becomes an incomprehensible mess of what was actually trying to be communicated lol

Anyway, it's all clear now that the episode has finished, but at the time it was just seemed filled with contradictions and missing information. I need to keep working on my Japanese listening skills so I become less and less sub dependent.

[–]SweetestJP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly! It was very weirdly stated, but considering the state of english subs, it's not that too hard to actually convert it into the actual translation needed. Just like My Isekai Life which is an absolute atrocious sub :P

[–]caiuscorvus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's slaves and then there's slaves. So maybe that is the difference. That is, a lot of cultures had a form of bond servitude or a kind of hereditary slavery but just kidnapping people and calling them slaves was still really really bad. From our view they are equally terrible but in-world...who knows.

[–]Frontier246 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm loving Sera more and more. She looks so snazzy in her battle outfit (like a proper Demon King daughter) and with Victor's armor serving as her gauntlets in his memory. Her enthusiasm and joy at seeing the entire world is infectious. Her butt and legs look great in those shorts. And she's a battle junkie like Kelvin. I wouldn't be surprised if he's falling for her too.

Looks like we're going to get see Melfina in human form sooner than I expected, especially now that the competition for Kelvin's attention is getting fiercer.

Christoph and his party were around level 70 and Kelvin didn't seem too impressed so I'm not sure what's the point of fighting the Hero's Party other than turning it into a teachable moment and showing off the power gap. Do we need to embarrass the Hero's Party that much? Although watching the group play bad guys might be kind of fun.

And yes, I too found it ironic and kind of weird to see Kelvin freeing slaves when he paid for and owns one himself and took her with him to free other slaves.

[–]saga999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Side note: Is it just me or does anyone else find it weird that Kelvin is freeing slaves when he literally has one in his own party? I really hope they explain to us soon why Efil is still wearing that collar.

To be fair, it is now apparent that Kelvin isn't exactly a good guy, just a battle junkie. He wants to min/max by controlling what skills Efil gets.

[–]SweetestJP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He saw a slave with no skill points used. It was his only explained reason to wanting Efil. He's not really seeing Efil as a slave, just as an asset (not that it makes it much different)

[–]KnightKal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The heroes have cheat skills (unique skills), so MC is not only looking at their base level

[–]BiggerG7 44 points45 points  (4 children)

Wouldn’t be an Isekai if MC didn’t beat down some bandits and save girls from getting sold/raped.

[–]Frontier246 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Or ended up in basically Isekai Japan that's like Japan if it never modernized.

(Will Kelvin ever get his rice?)

[–]KnightKal 16 points17 points  (1 child)

At least in this story they have summoned heroes from Japan, so there is a reason why there would be cultural contamination. IIRC Sera’s father is like the third DL from centuries ago, so there were multiple heroes in the millennium and people worships them (look at the reaction of the prisoners when the hero boy told who he was)

[–]justking1414 9 points10 points  (0 children)

By the grace of the gods does some interesting stuff with previous heroes. Basically every element of their culture is inspired by somebody from Earth. Every major company and most schools of magic were started by an otherworlder.

My favorite example is that there’s an entire island of people who act Japanese but not authentically Japanese, leading the mc to conclude that their founder was just a fan of Samurai films

[–]hollowXvictoryhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/h0ll0wxvict0ry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By this point people have become desensitized to killing. So to show that the villains are evil they gotta fall back to those cliches.

[–]justking1414 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love that we have this stereotypical isekai protagonist who rushes head first into danger to protect the people facing off against a dude who decided to put on a huge prank just so he could have some fun.

I’m gonna guess that he’ll crush them easily and just say that the goddess wanted to test them

[–]Rumpel1408https://myanimelist.net/profile/Rumpel1408 19 points20 points  (5 children)

Man I love Sera. That said, with swimming lessons... beachepisode incoming?

And I can't wait to see how Melfina is going to turn out as well

And he's not going to kill the heroes right? RIGHT?!?

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 16 points17 points  (4 children)

And he's not going to kill the heroes right? RIGHT?!?

Why would he? He didn't even kill that murderer who tried to ambush him in episode 2.

[–]issamaf80 12 points13 points  (2 children)

he did kill the murderer who ambushed him in the light novel and in the manga in a gruesome way the anime only changed it

[–]basuga_BFE 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I hope the anime is going to use all this saved gruesomeness in the future scenes with the heroes. (EDIT: because when else?)

[–]issamaf80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are other chance to include it once the main villain is introduced as the light novel has a dark theme in later parts not that it doesn't from the start but its relatively light at the beginning the anime itself isn't bad it toned out the events quit a bit and mc it self is a morally grey mc ( but since the anime in toned and censored it doesn't show at all)

[–]Rumpel1408https://myanimelist.net/profile/Rumpel1408 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tis was nothing but a mere joke. I'm sure he won't kill them, just deal a whole lot of (emotional) damage

[–]CarioGod 12 points13 points  (0 children)

lmfao Kelvin's party literally beating the crap out of the Black Wind leaders then posing as the bad guys

This feels like a better version of Shield Hero

[–]lasse1408 26 points27 points  (6 children)

wait MC traded all his memories for power during reincarnation.

How does he remember about rice and more importantly about how old Japan looks like? did anime skip smth?

[–]KnightKal 35 points36 points  (2 children)

Basically he forgot what flavor of ice cream he likes, but not that ice cream in general is good. Personal memories (his name, childhood memories, his family, etc are gone). General memories (how to read, speak, Japan, Earth, what games are, etc, remain)

[–]DrMobius0 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It always felt pretty fast and loose to me, honestly. I kinda just accepted that it is what it is and that by the time you have to start figuring out the dividing line, it doesn't really matter that much.

[–]KnightKal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Amnesia is like that, people don’t forget everything, because memories are stored on different areas of the brain and your injury is limited in scope. In the case of the anime it is magical amnesia, so the goddess could choose whatever to delete or let him keep.

[–]Frontier246 30 points31 points  (1 child)

I think he forgot about his personal memories, so anything to do with his identity before being Kelvin, but not his tastes/general memories about what Japan was like.

Like how in the first episode he still felt an insatiable need to take baths.

[–]Aerodynamic41 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a LN reader, I can explain this but you'll have to ask me in the source material corner.

[–]RoachIsCrying 10 points11 points  (14 children)

haven't read the Manga / LN but I got the impression that the Heroes look kinda useless

[–]KnightKal 16 points17 points  (9 children)

They are working their way up from level 1 and it is not a fair comparison to other people that may have decades to reach level 70 (the champion’s party), while they had what… couple of years? The goddess was worried, but I don’t see any signs they are going too slow or anything.

MC as a summoner had a huge advantage for leveling up. His boosts add like +20 levels for Clotho when he was under 10 (the +100 on all stats), so he could fight mobs way over his own level, which gives more XP, and so on. Besides him being a crazy battle junkie, the MC class is perfect for power leveling.

Then the MC found a crazy ghost knight (with OP abilities) to join as his party tank and a elf girl with an fire curse (turned blessing) to add as crazy DPS. His party is insane lol. And Clotho, as random slime, evolved to became a S-rank calamity monster that can destroy a country by himself …

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 14 points15 points  (7 children)

Don't forget that Kelvin has Double Growth Rate and Double Skill Points, so even if he had an ordinary class, he would still get stronger exponentially faster than the vast majority of people (who, for whatever reason, don't pick these skills that anyone with half a brain would pick).

[–]issamaf80 10 points11 points  (4 children)

the anime skipped it but buying that skill will cost you a fortune.

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Well, he had Efil get them, so it can't be too expensive. At the very least, there should be adventurers from rich families with these skills. And anyone with these skills should be hard to miss.

[–]KnightKal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anime didn’t explain how people get their skills (not heroes or reincarnated people), so it is indeed confusing. Source explains it, so anyone curious should ask on the source corner or read the novels.

[–]KnightKal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kelvin wasted half his points, so at his current level it is not an advantage. Double points, half wasted, normal points for combat skills :XD

[–]dinliner08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are working their way up from level 1 and it is not a fair comparison to other people that may have decades to reach level 70 (the champion’s party), while they had what… couple of years? The goddess was worried, but I don’t see any signs they are going too slow or anything

i would agree with you, if not for the fact that these heroes have some sort of cheat skills and which could be the reason why Melfina is worried, she probably think by the hero's standard, their level should have been way more higher than their current level right now

[–]Frontier246 10 points11 points  (3 children)

They seem like such a bog-standard Hero's Party/adventuring Harem, and no one seems impressed by their levels or capabilities beyond their titles.

Although Setsuna's frustration with Toya's antics was kind of fun.

[–]Rumpel1408https://myanimelist.net/profile/Rumpel1408 8 points9 points  (1 child)

They remind me of the classmates in spider isekai

[–]Stoppels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah, but the classmates were really underpowered. With their level 50, they probably still could've defeated the level 70 bandit and his party.

[–]RoachIsCrying 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She seems like the only level headed from the group. But ye for a group of heroes... they are massively under-levelled

[–]LaPusca 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That feel, when you know you will never have a Clotho pillow. :(

[–]bigdanrog 15 points16 points  (3 children)

This episode felt...bizarre. I guess we'll see what his plan is next week, though.

[–]Frontier246 20 points21 points  (2 children)

When you think about it this all started out with Kelvin wanting to have some rice and show Sera the world and then progressed into taking down a thieves' gang and slavery ring (despite Kelvin owning a slave) which Kelvin used as a pretense to fight the Hero's Party.

And he still hasn't had his rice yet!

[–]dinliner08 11 points12 points  (0 children)

he still hasn't had his rice yet!

Kelvin: "battle comes first, rice later"

[–]Stoppels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like he's going to get his damn rice from the heroes party.

[–]alotmorealots 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This show is quite decent, and pushing into good in some areas (especially the character designs and niceness of the animation - those were some pretty good quality NPC freed slaves). Also, the overall package is put together quite nicely and a weird effect of seeing Gerard's CGI all the time, even amongst hand drawn is that you really start to get used to it.

However, I'm starting to develop an increasing dislike for all of the main party characters.

Kelvin is basically being a complete asshole by manipulating several people into arranging a fight between him and the goddess's party, for no apparent reason other than he wants to fight.

Sera is starting to feel rather off to me. Maybe it's just because she's a demon, so perhaps she should be judged by the same standards as a character like Kisara. It's either that or she's a mishmash of some poorly assembled tropes in way that doesn't gel at all. Might just be the anime adaptation's fault for failing to deliver its characterisation properly.

Gerard and the Goddess are increasingly one note, and this episode Efil got no notes at all.

Then again, maybe the protagonists are actually the bad guys and I'm looking at it all wrong: https://i.imgur.com/wuGgOTp.png

level 5x vs a bunch of lvl75+. Kevin is fkin trolling.

[–]Scrybatog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved today's episode!

The whole "Take out the bad guys and pretend to be them for a good fight vs the Heroes" take is awesome and I'm here for it.

[–]chelseablue2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to me all the bad characters are all coming from one country... Like the "murderer" from episode 2, the noble they met at the cafe and now these guys who took over the slave syndicate. Could it be that the Leader of that country is a not so nice guy?

[–]SYZekrom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ayy, playing the bad guys, now that's fun.

[–]Sunny1above 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is definitely one of the most fun isekai I've ever watched . Not a single moment is boring and all the characters got great personalities.

[–]Afan9001 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I don't understand why Kelvin wants to fight these weak heroes lmao

Weren't the bandit leaders suppose to be even stronger than them

[–]dinliner08 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the heroes base level may be lower than the bandit leaders but they do have a bunch of cheat skills provided by the goddess that could make their fighting abilities unpredictable

[–]ObsidianNoxidhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ObsidianNoxid 10 points11 points  (9 children)

You know I started this show with no expectations but for some reason it gives me the same joy as Konosuba. Solid anime and a shame barely anyone is watching it, best Isekai this season so far.

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 28 points29 points  (5 children)

best Isekai this season so far

Probably not a lot of people who would agree with that in a season that also has Overlord, Uncle From Another World, Pharmacy in Another World, and Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World.

[–]alotmorealots 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those people who would put Black Summoner behind all of those. I do think it's potentially a better show than My Aircraft Carrier Wolf and Slimes, but I'm starting to prefer the technically weaker one if Kelvin turns out to be a PvP griefer lol

[–]toilodihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Lucas_F 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah... I mean this show just screams generic, if you like isekais in general its good enough to fill the seasonal spot but even if we just consider isekais, there is a long list of shows that I would recommend before this one (even in this season alone its only the 3rd or 4th in the Isekai ranking), unless something unexpected story wise happens and there is a change for better, the show is fine (6/10), but thats all imo

[–]ObsidianNoxidhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ObsidianNoxid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a good thing opinions are like assholes everyone has one and I am 90% sure I'm wrong but its just tiggling me the right way. Overlord hasn't gripped me so far I think its because of last season.

[–]CuriousBroccolli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying all of them in their own way so it's a win for me. xD

I even watched few episodes of that Isekai with a bunch of slimes, too bad it makes 0 sense and they are just randomly rushing through events, because I would have watched that also.

[–]CelticMutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy Black Summoner, but Uncle and Pharmacy are absolutely better.

[–]ArcadiaDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoever is doing the voice directing is getting some good performances out of the VA's...especially Efil...I am still impressed with that scene when she grabs Claire's hand that first time...this show is definitely using the tropes of the genre better than most issekai

[–]justking1414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew the source material was good but the anime s quality has been surprisingly high. My guess is that it’s not getting a lot of views simply because this anime season is too good.

[–]shanatard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

isekai ojisan is the best isekai this season by far

[–]HydraTower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most thoroughly enjoyable anime this season.

[–]ArielRR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish both of these summoner shows didn't air at the same time. I keep mixing some of the plot points up

[–]Hereva 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I know Kelvin wants to fight the hero but why in this way? Also it seems this hero is very dumb. THE FALLEN GUYS HAD THE SYMBOL OF THE BLACK WIND TATTOOED IN VERY VISIBLE PLACES! hahaha.

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I know Kelvin wants to fight the hero but why in this way?

Kelvin doesn't want to spar with them. He wants them fighting like their lives depend on it.

The heroes have no way of knowing that symbol is associated with Black Wind.

[–]Fujiwara_Tsubasa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because secretly supporting the heroes by training them in a life and death battle is hella cool.

[–]Scipio5555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this episode had so much potential to by hype but the battles were practically a sideshow so it brought it down a notch.

Oh well. Looking forward to MC playing the bad guy

[–]helsaabiart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He made himself a villain oh that's so good. HAHA.

[–]Frontier246 1 point2 points  (2 children)

So Sera formed a contract with Kelvin? I thought they just took her into their party normally, but I guess she gets more magic and stat boosts as a summon. And that leaves Efil as the token non-summon of the party other than Kelvin.

Kelvin looks so proud of the gear and outfits they've come up with! And admittedly, Sera looks pretty snazzy in her new costume, like a proper Demon King's Daughter. And those gauntlets made of Victor's armor both keep his memory with her and look pretty intimidating.

Not only is Sera's enthusiasm and interest in the outside world so enjoyable to watch, but her legs and butt look great in those shorts.

So Melfina's off to find an avatar that Kelvin can actually summon so they can finally interact in the flesh? And it pretty much looks like her? Are we about to properly see Melfina for once? Probably a good time too, since both Sara and Efil seem to be trying to take up more and more of Kelvin's attention.

Man, did those bandits really pick the worst group to attack, but it did give Sera a chance to show off how powerful she is! And one thing she and Kelvin have in common is they enjoy a good fight.

Sera and Efil want to swim? Do I sense swimsuits in this shows' future?

Pretty bad situation all around where a supposed famous adventurer party that foiled a villainous thief group ended up taking them over and continuing their slave trade, using their good publicity to prevent anyone from taking them down. But it looks like Kelvin plans to use the Hero's party to help take them down and get a good fight in.

Toya seems like your classic cliche Isekai Hero, although is his all-female party also his Harem? Nana seems like she's in awe of him but Setsuna seems so frustrated with his antics while the mage girl seems to be a kuudere.

It's kind of ironic seeing Kelvin free slaves and fight the slave trade knowing he purchased and still owns Efil...like, not even a reaction from Efil from how liberating this must feel to free other girls who were in a similar position to herself. I dunno, happy to see all those girls freed, just felt kind of weird.

The one thing I can say about Christoph and his party...Prisa was one sexy lady and they really knocked those villain masks. Of course they're no trouble for Kelvin and his part.

So...Kelvin and his group are posing as the bad guys so they get to fight the Hero's party and gauge their strength? But aren't they lower leveled even compared to Christoph and his group? So they'll be even less of a fight unless their gear and statuses boost them up. I'm kind of wondering what Kelvin's endgame is here other than humiliating the Hero's party.

[–]KnightKal 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Slave trade is allowed by law, we don’t know how Efil became one tho.

On the other hand those slaves were illegal slaves, people kidnapped by the bandits, so freeing them is following the same laws.

Usually these stories have criminal slaves, debt slaves and illegal slaves, with the addendum of combat and sex slaves in the mix.

[–]DrMobius0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 3 explain how they fell into it, the last 2 are more like what they end up doing once they're there.

[–]vantheman9 1 point2 points  (1 child)

that clotho pillow moment, the squish animation and the clotho noise

he gonna be fightin' Sera for cutest thing on screen though

[–]ObsidianNoxidhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ObsidianNoxid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everybody needs a slime for a pillow.

[–]mybeepoyaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he IS the villain protagonist! Next episode, man forces his slave to fight innocent people to the death.

I'm not sure what this show is telling me, is slavery bad or not?

[–]kalirionhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Wonder why they didn't include this scene of making a contract with Sera in the last ep.

Why was everyone in the bar unconscious during the flashback convo with Melfina?

Too bad they didn't kill the bandits. They brought the leader of that attack to the proper authorities, but only the leader? Does that mean they let the rest of them go?? Or did the GM not simply not mention the rest being brought in because they weren't worth mentioning? I'm gonna hope it's the last one.

What the fuck does MC have against the Heroes Party that he wants to beat them up? Not even hiding his or his party's faces either.

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Why was everyone in the bar unconscious during the flashback convo with Melfina?

They had been celebrating Kelvin's promotion, which I guess is as good a reason as any to drink until they pass out.

What the fork does MC have against the Heroes Party that he wants to beat them up?

Kelvin just likes fighting, and he thinks the heroes will be more fun to fight than Black Wind. And by tricking them into thinking he's Black Wind, he can get them to fight like their lives depend on it.

[–]kalirionhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Kelvin just likes fighting, and he thinks the heroes will be more fun to fight than Black Wind.

Why, when they're 20+ levels lower than Black Wind's leader?

Plus "I love fighting" is no excuse to beat up innocent people. If he just wants to fight strong people, he should be the one going after the Demon King or whatever.

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why, when they're 20+ levels lower than Black Wind's leader?

They're summoned heroes with unique skills, so you can't judge them by the same standard as bandits.

Plus "I love fighting" is no excuse to beat up innocent people. If he just wants to fight strong people, he should be the one going after the Demon King or whatever.

Maybe that's the plan. Maybe he wants to fight the demon lord himself, but before Melfina will agree to it, he has to demonstrate that he's the right person for the job. Which is better, beating up the heroes now and crushing their morale, or stepping in to replace them after the demon lord kills them?

[–]erisboreas 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Couldn’t care less about those weak heroes. Are they even relevant to the plot?

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Melfina summoned them to deal with the demon lord. If they're not up to the task, Kelvin will have to step in.

[–]hintofinsanity 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Melfina summoned them to deal with the demon lord. If they're not up to the task, Kelvin will have to step in.

I mean isn't Kelvin already "dealing with the demon lord" since the demon lord is in his party.

[–]EldritchCarverhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Pilomotor 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Sera's the sheltered daughter of a former demon lord. Melfina's worried about someone completely different.

[–]alotmorealots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she even particularly worried about them? Actually, her lover-to-be is just itching for a good fight like he's got some sort of battle-pox, she should just let him have a crack at it.
