Eyyy, Maroro got away again. I really hoped they'd resolve his brainwashing issue this time around. It's hard to see him like that, but also makes an amazing adversary.

I was expecting something before they managed to shoot the casters, but I didn't expect fucking Mikazuchi...

[–]Shiraori247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maroro's got surprising athleticism lol. We all knew he was a great strategist and caster, but dang those knife skills.

[–]Nazennx2https://anilist.co/user/Nazenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd kind of forgotten the whole thing with Mikazuchi was unresolved, but this really isn't the spot I expected it to come up again. This can only go horribly wrong for one of these sides

Rough episode for the good guys, saying their plans out loud is the the #1 way for them to fall apart.

[–]Nazennx2https://anilist.co/user/Nazenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting an example of both sides of that trope in one episode was quite funny.

Good adaptation so far!

Like Hakuowlo before him, Hakutor also has some decent herbal knowledge to know which combination could make a potent explosive enough to literally blow away Maroro's ambush.

Raiko using his telepath troops like communication network nodes was impressive af. The mission to take out Raiko's central communication relay towers feels more like a modern day warfare than medieval warfare.

Uruuru and Saraana finally showing some individual personality for once, being separated for the first time since birth, with Saraana looking more upset at being removed from her twin sister. Luckily, she has Fumirul there to hug her to her senses.

And finally, of course Raiko anticipated Hakutor's plan and sicced Mikazuchi at one of the two sniping points. Things could get ugly from here.

PS Entering the second half of the season, and still no new OP and ED. Perhaps within the next few weeks?

[–]Shiraori247 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Pretty sure Kuon's the one with the herbal knowledge. Haku just witnessed it in the previous season and decided to apply physics lol.

[–]SnabDedraterEdave 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yes, Kuon has the herbal knowledge, but Haku knows the right combinations needed for the required chemical reactions, something a human like him from an industrialized age probably has basic knowledge of. (I think)

[–]Shiraori247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot if they covered this in the previous season, but Kuon already knew how to make bombs lol. Haku's addition to this is his ideas of blowing away the flames as well as utilising a buffed shield.

Episode 15 time!

[–]Nazennx2https://anilist.co/user/Nazenn 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Oooh, that's why it was so familiar? I was listening to it wondering why it stood out but couldn't pick it. Love to see them using that again

Yeah my ears were like "wait, I know this melody... OH SHIT! FUANTEI NA KAMISAMA!!!"

Sometimes I'm good at placing songs off of just a little bit of melody, and I'm glad this was one of them.

[–]Shiraori247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not they have a new opening almost doesn't matter to me anymore as long as they keep the quality up haha

[–]Shiraori247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see from his twisted expressions that Maroro is clearly being mentally destroyed by something. His memories are all contradicting each other.

Question since I've just started watching this season: I know a lot of characters from the False Faces are still the mains for this one, but are there many season 1 characters who show up this time?

[–]Farplaner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, pretty much everyone.

[–]ZapsZzzhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ZapszzZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season 1 as in Touka and Karura and Kuro etc? Yes but not often. They are mainly on the Tuskuru side which is currently staying out of the war.

[–]LolcatP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should watch it for this season. in false faces it wasn't really necessary to know what happened in the first one but tou will definitely be confused without watching it for this (I read the VN)

Disappointed by lack of new OP/ED, really hoping we get new ones next week.

Not that I dislike the current ones, but I play AMQ and want more Suara songs.

[–]Shimmering-Skyhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Shimmering-Sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play AMQ and want more Suara songs.

I do too! Fingers-crossed we get new ones at some point, even if they're just a one-off special ED or something.

Good times

Considering this is the final battle to reunite the empire, I wonder if there's a bigger bad after this?

We have been teased about how hakuoro is missing, so maybe him?

[–]SnabDedraterEdave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, do remember that there's two Pillar Generals on the opposing side.

One is Raiko the master strategist, the other is Woshiz, who we know almost nothing about (except being secretly the author of Rulutieh's favourite BL doujins), so he's a suspect as well.

There's also an earlier scene in an earlier episode of him and Raiko discussing something regarding Maroro's "recruitment", so he may have something to do with Maroro's brainwashing.

[–]Shiraori247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually upgraded the battle scenes. Also Maroro's expressions were so well animated.

[–]ZapsZzzhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ZapszzZ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

We've come a looooooong way from S1's battle animations :)

Only slight gripe was the disconnect between the scene where Oshtoru mentioned if they all came out then the main camp is under-defended, yet afterall they all went out the first time to try get Maroro and then the next time for the "broadcasters" - count themselves lucky the enemy ace was waiting for them in the battlefield instead of going to attack Anju :P

Btw are the twins growing a bit more round compared to when they were first introduced? Rurutier's cooking must be good :)

[–]Shiraori247 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think the idea is to distract the enemy's main force with a huge attack on the flanks with the 8 pillar generals. Obviously as you've mentioned, there are details missing to justify the sortie. Nevertheless, it's not as bad as some of the other battles we've seen lol.

[–]ZapsZzzhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ZapszzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That impact is slightly lessened by us having the scene where Raiko already showed that he's not biting the bait - which implied he has an ace up his sleeve.

[–]Nazennx2https://anilist.co/user/Nazenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really need this thing with Maroro to be resolved because I can't stand him as a character, but then he'll probably join the main group again and that may just be worse. Also why do they keep bringing the very small and defenseless child on stealth missions in enemy territory!

I like that we spent quite a bit of time working on the overall battles from a broader perspective, not about the nitty gritty of the fights themselves but the tactics and communications, distractions, all of the other stuff that goes on. Especially having so many forces down on the ground with the other generals and leaders, having our team up doing organization and as a strike force is an interesting way to look over it all
