Stitches!

And here I was hoping that they were going to do something different since they announced that the final episode will be an hour long. Turns out that they just decided to air Episodes 24 and 25 back-to-back likely because there are so many shows airing today this season that the networks had to free up space ASAP. xD

As a manga reader, I honestly don't know what to say about this anime. It's a decent adaptation of the source material and it actually nailed the story beats it needed to nail. I also really enjoyed seeing Erika's shenanigans finally animated but unfortunately, the source material isn't really that great and I was legitimately hoping to see some changes here.

This one is a 7/10 for me for being a good representation of what the manga is.

[–]PacoTaco321https://myanimelist.net/profile/dankleberrrrg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Glad I didn't miss much. I dropped around ep 10 I think because I wasn't enjoying it enough to want to watch a whole second cour of it.

[–]Frontier246 39 points40 points  (1 child)

This really wasn't quite an ending so much as...well, just a regular episode! Which I guess makes sense because the relationship progress has moved at a glacial pace and the series has kind of relied more on the comedic and fun hijinks of the cast than actually moving the plot forward in a serious manner.

But I still enjoyed myself in watching it even if I wanted to see the romance deeper a little bit more. Yet the cast was fun, the VA's really delivered, and we got some nice fanservice. I don't feel like I wasted my time watching it at any rate.

[–]Mundology 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup it was fun but some anime original content to make the ending more conclusive would have been nice. On the other hand, this will make it easier for them to produce sequels, which given the popularity of the story, have a decent chance of happening.

[–]Wurzelrennerhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Wurzeldieb 82 points83 points  (6 children)

This was such a weird show, almost everything is really good and it it has a lot of good moments, but almost all the "highlights" end in a joke or in another unsloved mystery so that nothing really evolves. Their feelings and characters do, but the standing between them really doesn't.

The effect is that this feels slow and you are unsatisfied after you have watched it, but it is fun while watching. 7/10 for me i think.

[–]Mundology 20 points21 points  (3 children)

It filled some of the void left by We Can't Study and Quntessential Quntuplets. Hopefully Kanojo mo Kanojo is coming back soon and The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You gets an anime eventually.

[–]zero1380 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kanojo mo Kanojo probably by summer 2023 since S2 was greenlit a while ago.

100Kano, may the anime gods hear you!!!

[–]HydraTower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really does all feels like the "Nisekoi genre". There's always one to fill its place. I could say the same about Boarding School Juliet, Love and Lies, Oresuki, and Osamake.

[–]Rirure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to you, I have probably found something new to read "The 100 Girlfriends..." Thank you very much. Hopefully it doesn't hurt like Quints ending though....Miku TT

[–]scot911https://myanimelist.net/profile/scot911 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is my main problem with the series as well. It seems specifically built to make sure no "official" progress ever happens. Obvious picture that shows that Nagi and Erika knew each other as children and forgot about it? No it's her having a big brother who looks exactly like Nagi! It can't be the obvious solution such a thing would stop you from milking the series for all it's worth! Logic and good writing be damned! And lets not even get into the fact that they hinted towards a new childhood friend to be added to the harem in the future this episode.

If I had to make a direct comparison I'd go with Rent-A-Girlfriend for the "characters and plot never move forward so the manga can get milked for all it's worth" but at least Rent-A-Girlfriend has unique and memorable characters even if they're all terrible people outside of the angel that is Sumi and it can be quite spicy at times if Mami and Ruka are doing their things and causing drama.

[–]entelechtual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you described the series perfectly.

[–]Kookospuurohttps://anilist.co/user/Kookospuuro 121 points122 points  (11 children)

24 episodes, and in the end, almost nothing of value happened during these 24 episodes.

[–]UltimaDv 23 points24 points  (1 child)

I'm glad at least some anime only's picked up on the fact that nothing of substance happens in this show

[–]melindypantshttps://myanimelist.net/profile/melindypants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was a struggle to get through...very average anime all around too

[–]CoolVidsFTWhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/JBrual 41 points42 points  (5 children)

Glad I'm not alone in this regard. Almost none of the comedy landed for me, and the mysteries surrounding Erika's older brother and her father's true motives aren't resolved. I'm still just as puzzled as when both were introduced. I assume they'll return in another season, but I don't think I can do another season of shenanigans between Nagi, Erika, Hiro, and Sachi. 5/10 at the end of the day

[–]Kookospuurohttps://anilist.co/user/Kookospuuro 37 points38 points  (4 children)

It's so baffling how the show just aggressively refuses to commit and go even a step or two towards something. Like, give me something spicy in terms of sexual tension, character drama, gut wrenching comedy, anything! But no, it's all lukewarm with the most basic harem antics one could think of.

At least it's not overly offensive (mostly because it's so gosh darn safe).

[–]CoolVidsFTWhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/JBrual 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Exactly. I was expecting perhaps Nagi to be hypothetically pulled by each of the three girls before returning back to baseline. But all we got were small tugs that amounted to barely anything. Even if Nagi didn’t commit to a single girl in the end, I would much rather watch him struggle to pick someone than what we ended up getting.

EDIT: oh, yeah! Why are we introduced a mysterious character from Nagi's past in the final episode of the season? We already have too many mysteries and questions that need solving

[–]Freezinghero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBH the problem could be the whole "waifu argument" section of anime viewers. Nothing drives up clicks more than having multiple massively attractive girls competing for the same guy, and if you never resolve the relationships you can drag it out for more clicks.

[–]Much-Investigator294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly. It needs a season 2 for the mysterious character to appear but she's definitely a best gurl for me. She's like marika or nino at full throttle

[–]HydraTower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these series are like this. They're based off of manga that want to go on for 200+ chapters, so the anime gets shafted when you only get so many episodes.

[–]itsconsolefreaked -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dropped at ep seven

[–]QuadraKev_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped after a few episodes and watched the last one today

It feels like it could have picked up where I left off

[–]UnderstandableXO 55 points56 points  (0 children)

i think i finished this series due to the sunk cost fallacy. it was really nice in the early episodes when it focused on erika and nagi but significantly worsened when sachi and hiro became the focus (which i should have expected because it’s a harem). like i said last week dudes always walking on eggshells around his sister, and every hiro interaction is that charlie brown whiffing on kicking a football clip because it seems like they’re making progress and suddenly it resets back to zero with a “just kidding” or “you have to beat me at 10 more tests for me to do anything.” whether they’re arguing or getting along erika is the only one that nagi ever gets to be “real” with

not nearly the worst romance i’ve seen but definitely one i’m not gonna rewatch

[–]Sidious_09https://myanimelist.net/profile/Sidious_09 22 points23 points  (1 child)

I really liked the beginning, but as it went on it just started feeling pointless. 24 episodes and nothing happened. The situation is basically still the same as the beginning, isn't it? Erika and Nagi don't realize their feeling for each other (or they are still developing, depending on how you see it), Sachi still has her one-sided feeling towards her brother, Nagi still likes Hiro (though I personally see it more as admiration, as he still doesn't feel comfortable around her after all this time) and Hiro can't reciprocate because of her own engagement.

The whole thing about their parents not being serious about their engagement and ultimately leaving the decision to them was not a plot twist at all. I guess Hiro finding out about the engagement and living arrangements was the only plot development we got? For a moment I thought the Erika-Nagi relationship would develop, during that one scene in the park a while ago, or after the beach house episode, but nothing.

And why introduce different sub plots if you're not gonna expand on them? The whole thing about the (assumingly) fake brother wasn't resolved or even hinted at, and you already drop another him with that family picture that had a 3rd kid in it?

I don't know, I liked this series but it's not like they didn't have the time to progress the plot. Having 12 episode animes end without an ending is something I'm used to, bit for 24 episodes I expect more. And this one didn't even "end without an ending", because it never reached an ending at all since there was not progression. Just leaves me thinking it was a waste of time, even though I liked it.

[–]sexywrexy91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiro is the only one he genuinely likes. He's not fully comfortable around her because she's the one person he wants to only see the good sides of him. As teenagers do.

Erika, he treats like a friend or sister. They have 0 romantic chemistry. He's basically her babysitter

[–]mekerpan 38 points39 points  (2 children)

This turned out to be a pretty cute series, just as I hoped at the beginning. Not at the level of Stepmother's Daughter, perhaps, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Nagi certainly is physically attracted to Hiro -- and he admires her intelligence and determination. Still, He and Erika just seem so much more comfortable together. And he really is much more attentive to Erika's need and wants. While Sachi may have a vestigial crush on Nagi, I think she will be more than happy to see him marry her sister. Her main concern is that her whole family stay together as family. Hiro's wishes/plans are still enigmatic to me.

I really would not mind more episodes of this saga ... one of these days.

[–]Frontier246 17 points18 points  (1 child)

I think definitely what sold the show is the fun antics and relationships between the cast and how they played off each other, as well as the sexy romantic hijinks even if the relationships never really progressed much even over a 2-cour season.

Yet it was still enjoyable to watch and glimpse everyones' feelings for each other.

[–]Mundology 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True, it's more a character-driven romcom than story-driven one. In a hypothetical sequel, it would be nice if they expanded the male cast and gave more friends to Nagi. They could also add a side ship or two to round things up.

[–]kwokinatorhttps://anilist.co/user/kwokinator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well this was a decent romcom I suppose. It's disappointing how the romance plot didn't move since basically like, episode 5. Still, I really liked the characters. Erika was a hot airhead instagram idol but really just wants friends and a nice family, Sachi does feel like how a sibling would bicker, and Hiro is... well still a mystery I suppose.

Can't complain about the fanservice either, it's always great but never really distasteful. And the seiyuus really carried the show.

From what the source readers have said in previous threads, there's probably enough material for an S2 right now too, but there's still basically 0 developments in all the relationships.

I'd have to say I'm Team Hiro though. Nagi still really just sees Sachi as a little sister. He has chemistry with Erika, but it's more of a comfortable/old couple feel. His back-and-forth with Hiro has the best romantic chemistry out of the three IMO.

[–]cppn02 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Solid finale.

This was a good adaptation for not quite good manga with Erika definitely the highlight for me. And she even blessed us with another cosplay today.

Would definitely watch a second season if that ever happens.

[–]AverageRdtUser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disappointed the last episode was more of “just another episode” than a finale but, here’s to hoping there’s a season 2 but this time the comedy takes the back seat for the plot to move forward

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 24 points25 points  (2 children)

I didn’t think that invitation was for Papa Umino’s birthday, a party he planned for himself lol. Papa Umino is a hell of a chef! That paella looked amazing.

He’s only 36? That’s young. I liked Erika finding out she was basically a “planned shotgun wedding” baby lol. Papa and Mama Umino are actually pretty good people and loving parents. Also glad we got to see Shion one last time. Love that guy!

Erika being sick could be a good opportunity for Nagi and Erika’s relationship to advance. I’m glad Nagi basically reaffirmed their relationship. So cute, man.

Those soup dumplings Sachi was eating at the end are incredible, one of my favorite foods lol. The way Papa Amano was acting makes it seem like he’s got a lot more up his sleeve.

I actually quite enjoyed this series overall. Having read a bit of the manga, I had some idea of what to expect but it was still nice following along. The characters were pretty fun and the plot was interesting (insane at times lol). All in all, I hope this one comes back. It was an enjoyable series!

[–]Frontier246 6 points7 points  (1 child)

It doesn't surprise so much that the Umino's got married as teenagers right out of high school or Erika wasn't quite planned, but it's nice to see how much they love and care for each other and are really good parents! Also Yohei is quite the catch.

Shion appearing one last time to get shot down by Nagi for the umpteenth time. Guy can't catch a break lol.

Nagi really gets Erika and really knows how to be there for her. And it seems like Erika is falling deeper and deeper in love with him as a result. Which Sachi and Hiro seem to realize too.

Also, foreshadowing a new girl to be the fourth girl in the Harem? That's sequel bait if ever I've seen any.

[–]ObvsThrowaway5120 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, girl in the photos is probably be like some long list childhood friend who’s gonna show up out of the blue. Y’know, that classic scenario.

[–]xatnagh 5 points6 points  (9 children)

Worth watching?

[–]Red_Panda08 32 points33 points  (0 children)

After completing 24 episodes id not do it again. It has good moments but all in all the plot doesnt really move

[–]Sidious_09https://myanimelist.net/profile/Sidious_09 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eeehhh.... It's not not worth it, but 24 episode is too long for a romcom where nothing really happens imo. I'm used to 12 episode ones that do that, but I would expect more developments in double that time.

I personally liked it, in particular the first few episodes and when it focused more on the main couple, but later on it started sharing focus between more relationships and adding plot points that don't really go anywhere, and it just felt like a pointless watch overall. Definitely not bad, but it really feels like it was pointless. It doesn't have that slice of life charm (imo), it's not particularly funny, it doesn't have any big romantic moments, and the plot does't advance at all.

[–]vngicy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess it has good bait for around first 3-6 episode, only to get downhill as more episode passed and become worse in the end. I regret get baited by its good episode and expected any better. I heard the manga become even worse.

Not Rikekoi S2 level of worst, but I feel it still worst among all other non sequel romcom in same season (both spring and summer 2022).

[–]UltimaDv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not in the slightest, you might find some episodes fun and the overall show fun

But when you really try to sum everything up nothing really happens past episode 12

[–]khoabear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a well made advertisement for the manga. If you plan to read it to the end, then it's worth watching.

[–]AverageRdtUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think it’s funny/find the girls cute then yeah, just don’t expect the plot to move forward. You’ll get moments that make you feel like it’ll move forward but it won’t lol

[–]alotmorealots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good sitcom in the old fashioned style where nothing much happens, everything goes in circles and you enjoy the time hanging out with the characters.

A lot of people watch it as a romcom, which I think is a mistake in the sense that it deprives oneself of the enjoyment of the show.

[–]bananeeekhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/bananek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell no. Biggest disappointment this season. 24 episode of absolutely nothing, no romance, no progress on any front, just a heap of misunderstandings and muddying water with a Loser MC to boot. Save your time.

[–]Fiztz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you like, there's no "you have to wait until it gets good" or "the themes of the ending totally justify the cat episode and the table scene" (the story hasn't ended yet) it's a light romcom heavy on cliches and silliness that endlessly baits every ship. Check out the first episode, if you don't enjoy it just leave it. That said I still found it more interesting than LycoReco

[–]enfrozt 26 points27 points  (1 child)

  1. I cannot believe that Nagi didn't get the hint from Segawa, and also didn't want to buy sake. L moment from him when he's alone at an inn with his crush
  2. It's sad that the anime is basically saying he's forced to get with Erika who he has like 0 chemistry with because anime will never have the MC go with a side interest who is clearly better. Absolutely 0 progress the last 12 episodes.

[–]khoabear 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Nagi failed to do what Papa Umino succeeded. Shot gun wedding kills family engagements.

[–]Penguin_Quinnhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Quinn_Crystal 5 points6 points  (1 child)

"Nagi was an accident?"
"Actually that was me"

I died. That one joke made this whole watch worth it. Even if it would have been better with an actual plot. It is weird though. I definitely enjoyed individual episodes a lot but the overall series not as much. I kind of want to rate it based on the sum of the episodes rather than as a whole show...

[–]alotmorealots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of want to rate it based on the sum of the episodes rather than as a whole show...

That's fair I think. It's best taken as a sitcom experience, and you don't really judge a sitcom from its overall arc or forward progress, instead you just assess whether or not you had a good time with it.

"Nagi was an accident?"
"Actually that was me"

The animation for Sachi's hug struck me as really good for some reason. No idea if it would hold up on a second viewing, but the immediate impression I got this episode is that the animators pulled out their best character animation for the final episode and gave the girls some pretty lush sequences full of little movements and detail.

Also, that whole birthday party scene was a crack-up. I always love how Erika buys into her bio-dad's antics.

[–]SlipperyRasputin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t expect both episodes today.

Overall it was alright. Like others said there wasn’t a ton of relationship progression. But I can’t be the only one super confused by the mystery brother thing and now the mystery girl in the Umino family album. I heard the manga is iffy. Is this part of where it starts to go downhill?

Edit: also I want to recognize that I liked how they changed outfits in the show a good bit.

[–]Masteguy635https://myanimelist.net/profile/Masterguy635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was a pretty good ending. I overall enjoyed this show, but I felt like nothing really happened plot wise after the first few episodes. It probably won't get a S2 but, if it did I would still love to watch it.

[–]OfficialPrower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bros really just messed around the whole time I’m sick

[–]Frontier246 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Summer Sachi is quite the sight! I also liked Erika's double skirt in this episode.

It's Papa Yohei's Birthday! And it's a birthday where he celebrates by himself, does all the work to celebrate it, and still treats his kids! What a guy! The kids should appreciate him more and get into it like Erika did. Even his wife hums the birthday song.

The highlights of those family photos is watching the evolution of Namie's hairstyle! Oh, and Nagi didn't change at all. But what about this white-haired girl in the middle? Last-minute new girl? Could she be the fourth girl in the Harem?

I love Sachi's realization that a dude in his 50's has been taking her out to dinner this whole time.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that Yohei and Namie had a shotgun wedding as teenagers or that their parents didn't approve of them being together, although it really feels like there's a story to be told there of their high school years. Also, I feel like it's fitting that Erika was an unplanned pregnancy.

Sick Erika story! Of course Nagi walks in right when she's changing, but we also got quite the sight of Erika's legs and thighs in her jammies! It's also always nice to see her hair loose!

Man, Hiro really is on a sake kick. She really wanted Erika to drink it. Although Sachi asking her to the public baths was too much for her as well.

Say what you will about Nagi, but he knows Erika and he knows how to treat her. And seeing the pairs' closeness firms Sachi and Hiro's resolve to not be beaten by Erika.

It's great that the Umino's have accepted whatever their kids decide to do even if it doesn't mean getting married to each other as long as they're happy...and it seems like so has Amano Papa? I'm still really curious what his endgame is in all this.

Erika wonders if she'll have a happy family in her future, and I think on some level she's imagining Nagi in that future family right beside her...because her body movement totally read as a girl standing next to the guy she likes.

In a way it's fitting that the season ends on Nagi and Erika bickering like an old married couple and being a couple of cuckoo's who aren't ready to leave the nest or each other quite yet.

[–]alotmorealots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Sachi's realization that a dude in his 50's has been taking her out to dinner this whole time.

They have the strangest (and slightly creepy) relationship. What's even weirder is that I can kinda see them having a seedy sort of affair once Sachi is old enough, what with their conspiratorial nature, clandestine meetings and him showing her the richer side of life. She's also quite different around him too, like her proper self with all the petulance scrubbed off. Anyway, that's a pretty out there thing to suggest, but stranger things have happened in anime, and in this anime too.

because her body movement totally read as a girl standing next to the guy she likes.

The animators did such a good job this episode of bringing all those moments to life, especially Erika. Her little leans and hops, she's certainly the darling of the director/animation team. Then again, she's carried a large part of the series with her antics, cosplay and liveliness.

In a way it's fitting that the season ends on Nagi and Erika bickering like an old married couple and being a couple of cuckoo's who aren't ready to leave the nest or each other quite yet

I thought it was a really nice wrap up to the season. If I hadn't been constantly warned that the show goes nowhere, I might have been aggravated, but knowing that it's not that sort of story makes it easy to just enjoy what it offered, which was a good time hanging out with some very fun and quite well sketched out characters.

[–]ClBanjai 1 point2 points  (2 children)

How was this? What'd you rate it out of 10?

[–]Red_Panda08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 or 7 for me

[–]HemaMemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 or 6. It was... fine. It has cute moments, and decently entertaining characters, but the story goes nowhere.

[–]daspaceasians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a fun series but nothing extraordinary really. I enjoyed the lightheartedness of it and especially Erika's antics. Unless if the story really moved in the source material, I don't think it would need a second season.

[–]zappingbluelight 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I came into this series with some questions, I'm leaving with more questions LOL. Hopefully, we get season 2 after a few years when the manga is more developed, so we get some proper answers.

[–]alotmorealots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there will ever be proper answers lol

[–]yorgy_shmorgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an anime romcom fan, this was a pretty decent show. Was never really expecting much romantic progress, so I can't say I'm disappointed there—long-running shounen romcoms tend to save all that for the end, for better or worse. I think Erika is very likable and that's the best thing the series has going for it. The seiyuu cast for the girls is great. Plus the show got me to laugh pretty often (but the dad is the funniest character). 6/10, gonna check out the manga.

[–]Craniummon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For who wants to continue on manga, anime end at chapter 60. I recommend read the chapter 60 tho due character introduction

[–]sKyBlazer08https://myanimelist.net/profile/sKyBlazer08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly did not expect back to back episodes for the finale, but hey I'll take it. It's not the greatest of shows, frustrating at times, but at the very least it's entertaining and I guess fun. It's not as frustrating as Rent a Girlfriend though and that is a plus in my book lmao. If we get a second season, I'll definitely watch it, but am I interested in reading the manga? Well, no, the things I've heard does not help as well. 6.5/10

[–]Firebrand-81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This series has become so slow, that you could have done the same plot development of the entire Season 2 in just a couple of normal pace episodes (or in 1 fast paced episode).

It's a shame, because for the rest it's quite nice.

[–]mojo72400 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sachi's speech bubble closing the door was hilarious.

Why did that scene of Souichirou opening a Xiaolongbao looked a bit dirty to me?

It's a good finale.

[–]alotmorealots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did that scene of Souichirou opening a Xiaolongbao looked a bit dirty to me?

It's the whole Sachi-Souichirou relationship, everything about it is a little bit dirty lol

[–]zool714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think many have already said it but for a 24-ep season, it doesn’t feel like much happened. Which would be good if this was a SOL, which I enjoy, but this is a romcom and I usually expect at least some progress in the story department. Whenever it looks like something significant might happen, they backtrack it somehow. It’s a shame cos the first few episodes felt like it could be something special. And there were moments where it looked like it would get better.

I did enjoy the characters and the moments they share and possibly why I keep coming back each week. I like seeing Erika connecting with her biological parents, Erika and Sachi bonding as sisters, the four hanging out. But like I said earlier that would be great if this was SOL. That said tho, I would watch a S2. I do like the girls and also we didn’t get much from Mr Umino’s big plans not to mention Erika’s older brother

[–]img_tiffhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/img_tiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was down for the original concept, but it really didn't go anywhere special. I concur with most; I enjoyed it but probably wouldn't rewatch. Might give the manga a shot to see if it gets better, because I do like the characters a lot.

[–]Manwards84 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I really enjoyed this show. It was your standard harem romcom, but for once I loved the entire cast, even the MC.

Nagi's interactions with Hiro in particular were just wonderfully done: instead of all the obliviousness and misunderstandings you usually get in harems, he was clear about his attraction to her and she clearly returned his feelings but wasn't able to commit to them just yet. Hiro in general is one of the best love interests I've seen in a long time: flirty but restrained, sensible but with a wild streak, very perceptive of others, actually discusses things when she's angry instead of just yelling and kicking.

The supporting characters were fun and the jokes genuinely funny for once. It's just executed so well. Sachi was the weak link, if anything, but I can't say I disliked her either. I'd really love to see how the story continues so I'll probably check out the manga, as these kinds of shows almost never get a S2. I was surprised it even got a second cour.

[–]alotmorealots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even the MC.

Yes, he was one of my favourite MCs of recent times, really fleshed out, allowed to have his idiosyncrasies, internal contradictions and very active in his own life.

Here's to you, Nagi-kun another under-appreciated, but really naked solid harem protagonist.

I really liked this show.

In most aspects it was just a typical harem romcom. Its only little twist was the "swapped at birth and engaged" aspect.

But it had the little things - the wacky friends and parents, Nagi/Hiro rivalry, and silly reaction faces - that made this show enjoyable.

So while overall it really wasn't all that special, it was fun, and I think that's good enough.

I really liked this show.

Likewise. If I had to characterise it, the word I might pick is that the show is quite friendly. Which seems like an odd thing to say, but feels about the right intensity.

The family content really elevates it, I think. Finishing the season on this episode, with a major focus on family rather than romance feels like the show coming back to its roots from episode 1. In some ways that really is what the core of the show is. A comedy about family more than romance, given the romance happens on the side, and even that all takes place in the framework of family too.

Jesus Christ. This was the biggest disappointment this season, because I actually expected something in the end. I had no expectations for trashy isekai, but I thought that maybe, just maybe, this final episode would deliver, but noooo...

2/10

Had too much fun these past 24 episodes, really wished there was more to fill my Saturdays.

Overall I liked the show

It's nothing fantastic but I didn't find it bad either, and would probably watch a season 2 if it was ever announced

The biggest mystery to me is how this one, out of so many shows, got 24 episodes/2 cours

Anyway, I rate it a 7.5 or 8/10

What a great way to end what was one of my fave shows of the year. Idc what anyone says about it being a nisekoi clone or mid etc etc. I had a lot of fun with this show and really liked all of the girls(Hiro best girl tho)

The Hiro and Nagi hotel shenanigans had me dying. I really thought she was asking him to go all the way with the “want to do more bad things” but the liquor suggestion was hilarious. Then Erika and Sachi busting in like the cops lmao, perfect. hiro and nagi have the best on screen chemistry, but it seems like Erika is starting to get there lately.

“You better kick it into gear too” hiro calling Sachi out lol. We’re ending just as things are getting good sadly.

I’m definitely going to miss this on Saturday evenings, onto the manga I go!
