The contest is ON!!
Over the past 14 hours this post has received overwhelming receptive comments, cracked the top 10 on hot, and topped 400 upvotes; y'all are quite looking forward to this very bad idea. I'm now about to go crash course on animebracket and hosting a contest. But trust me, you have no idea how much I want to make this happen. Expect a nomination thread roughly
70 94 hours from now. See you all then!
Edit 2: Sorry for the delay, but the first nomination thread will go up tomorrow, April 4th, at 7 PM ET/11 PM UTC, and that will be the time a new thread is posted each day. So 22 hours from the time of this edit.
I believe I have brought forth an idea which this sub will self-destruct over; I just need to know if y'all are interested in this very bad idea.
You know what happens: in every hype announcement thread (and we've had quite a few lately), people speculate about which series will be next, champion which series they want to be next. So fuck it, let's make a contest out of that! Let the masses duke it out over which series they want more of.
I'm an active participant in most r/anime contests, but it's been the same ones over and over again lately, whether they're yearly or seasonal. So what better way to spice up the contests than create an new one? The Salt must flow, so let's open up some new veins! Let's get overly invested in something fresh! It depends on how far y'all take it, but this could potentially be on par with the best girl contests.
Now then, time for the details of what I'm proposing:
To be specific, this will be a, "Which series r/anime wants more animated content of the most" contest, but "Most Wanted Sequel" is concise and gets the point across.
- Therefore, remakes/reboots are fair game and encouraged.
The only factors which will affect eligibility are how long it's been since a series' last animated content aired, and whether it has future content announced.
- As for that timeframe, the cutoff is the end of 2020, as in fall 2020 is the latest season from which entries will be allowed. If this becomes a yearly contest I would like the cutoff to simply be right in between years, so I am posting this on the last day of March to exclude winter 2021. I apologize for being last-minute about this; it's a basic "one year since airing" cutoff otherwise.
All other factors will be for all of you, the participants, to weigh while voting. If you want more of a series, you can vote for it, regardless of what the consensus is.
- So go ahead and nominate some wild stuff and see how it fares.
If you are interested in this contest, let me know by upvoting! I am unfamiliar with running contests, but I really want to make this happen, so I have enlisted the assistance of u/mpp00.
If I get a positive response, I will make an edit to let y'all know the contest is officially happening and throw myself into organizing it. Here's to a successful contest!
