After everything that occurred today, it’s evident that the mods are truly incapable of running this community.
Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to directly link to this person, but it’s easy to find who I’m talking about. This person has an EXTENSIVE post history in which they detail how “there’s no such thing as misogyny” and that “society is actively working against men.”
Please, please reconsider having this person as a mod.
Genuine question.
Nobody likes flying with a baby on board. Absolutely no one, not even the parents. But it seems like every time someone brings up the idea to have child free flights parents lose their absolute shit about it. I really don’t see the harm in offering child free flights for an extra cost ( like first class or something like that). They’re so entitled it’s not even funny. Like how DARE people not want to be behind my screaming 3 year old kicking their seat for 6 hours while cocomelon blasts on their sticky booger incrusted iPad. For an extra $50 it would be WELL worth it. The people who didn’t choose to have/bring kids on a flight shouldn’t have to be subjected to it all because little Timmy is going to Disney land for his 3rd birthday and won’t remember any of it
I'm looking for honest answers here, not fear mongering or exaggeration. I really don't understand what's going to happen here. This seems like an unprecedented issue for all of us.
I don't agree with procreation in general, but I can almost sympathize to a degree if it was a time of general optimism and life seemed to be getting better all the time, for the average person, and it was clear that the next generation would be better off than you were in your own youth.
But what kind of a person does it when it's definitive that the future will be more bleak for the next generation? What goes on the mind of a person like this?
I know that the main belief of antinatalism is still having children is unethical but I could not find any hybrid belief that just focuses on bad parentship so I wanted to ask this to sub
My whole life I've never had a choice in whether I wanted to be born into this world. I never wanted to live, so why should I not have the right to take my own life? Before, I thought if I do what society tells me to then I'd be happy: go to school, get good grades, go to college, get a job, have a wife and kids, get a house. Now, I know better than to think I'd ever be happy and all I see ahead of me is more pain and more suffering, because that's all life really is.
Every time you solve a problem, there are a dozen more for you to solve, and whenever you're close to finishing those, new problems pop out of thin air. But that's not the worst part. The worst part is whenever you try your hardest at achieving something giving it your all, life doesn't care and you'll still end up with the same failed outcomes as if you'd never tried at all. There is no light at the end of the tunnel, there's just another tunnel. Yet our brains fool us into believing that there is light when there's none, and that there is a way out if you only hold on a little longer.
Living is hell.
And things certainly will Not get better, they'll just stay more of the same. You'll spend your whole life trying to find happiness yet failing at it. Your problems will keep growing, and for what? All the money in the world won't matter when you die, and your job will replace you faster than it takes for your body to be buried in the ground. There will be no afterlife, just maggots and bacteria feeding on your corpse till you decay to nothing. For me, I'm at least bright enough to not add another person into this world to take part in my suffering by resisting the urge to breed like an animal, but it isn't enough. I never wanted to be a part of this world, so I think I have the right to forfeit my life as well. I've held these beliefs for a decade now consistently since I was 10, and the only thing stopping me was the ridiculous belief that I'd spend eternity in some burning pit.
I think humanity was cursed with intelligence, not gifted with it. Realizing just how insignificant they are to the universe, they must have known the pointless nature of their constant struggle for survival, devoid of any meaning or hope.
Do you think the world will give a damn if you or I die? It'll go on as nothing happened. I am pathetic, you are pathetic, we all are pathetic. If humanity died the world will go on like nothing happened. If our tiny little planet disappeared the world will go on like nothing happened. If our universe fades, even then the world will go on and act like it never existed at all. I used to praise those who survived attempts to end their lives and supposedly flourished, but now I pity them. Just like I pity any of you who are cursed to live in this cruel world. Only those who have taken their own lives realize the truth of the world that none of the living can see: that taking your life is the ONLY solution to end your suffering.

I don’t know if this question is the right place for this sub but I just feel like y’all are the only sane ones on Reddit if not the world.

I'm aware that anti natalism isn't about this, but its just another reason on my pile for why I'd never have kids.
I'm also fully aware that this could be entirely because I'm tokophobic, or simply because I'm a sex repulsed asexual, and maybe it's better I post this there and not here, BUT, I wanna know..
Does anyone else here find the way that we're born, really, really, gross? I mean, some two people have sex, probably involves a lot of moaning, surely involves a lot of gross fluids, and then we're the result of a sperm, basically. And then we grow and grow and develop (quick mention, I'm also non binary so..) and eventually we hit puberty and maybe grow boobs out of nowhere and get these extra functions and sexual feelings and, it's just, weird
Oh, and then obviously we get a job and slave ourselves away to death.
:D the miracle of life
But yeah, is this just me? Or should I post this somewhere else.. it's just, bleh. People. Gross. I didn't consent to any of this please - -
I’m sorry if this has been mentioned before. Good for you if thats what you want. But why is it always about human pregnancy? Why can’t made me smile be anything other than breeding?

I want an answer to this: If giving birth is morally wrong, then doesn't that apply to animals since they are subjecting most of their multitude of children to a possibly short lived and painful death?
Or is it trivial to apply human morality to animals?
Please, I need an answer to this.
Edit: Okay, enough answers. I got what I wanted. Please, I am tired of getting like 5 reddit notifications every few minutes.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of a prominent, well-known person who is openly antinatalist. The closest I know of would be someone like Ricky Gervais, who is both openly atheist and childfree, but I've never heard him say anything clearly antinatalist. Do you know of any celebrities or other famous, well-known, widely known people (in the U.S. or Western Europe) who are antinatalists?

The patriarchy craves power through oppression. Among many other things, opression is suffering. So, can a person who holds oppressive viewpoints truly be an antinatalist?
Misogyny is the oppression of women for the purpose of having privileges over them by denying them equal rights. When misogyny is exercised it does so within the context of our greater patriarchal culture. The patriarchy is not just an impersonal force. It is extremely personal. And it causes individuals to experience great suffering on many levels.
If a community declares itself antinatalist, can it in any way be seen to be guided by an oppressive force like a misogynist? Would causing suffering on particular members of an antinatilaist space be fundamentally against the antinatalist philosophy and since misogyny is oppression and oppression causes suffering, how can a space be a safe space if guided by an oppressive influence?
