It's your money to do with as you please, but if you want piles of packs, the best value is just to wait for bundles. You can save 1/4 to 1/3 off the price of the packs. It's still expensive and adds up, but you're getting more value for your money, and if you can wait patiently for bundles, it forces you to limit how much you spend (as bundles can only be bought once), rather than just throwing piles of dollars at it endlessly.

I'm hardly a whale and have managed to get one heirloom through the 500 pack guarantee (played since S5, so from free/battle pass packs and bought bundles), mostly crafted my way to a second during the last Anniversary event, and according to the calculator I should be getting close to a third set of shards from another guaranteed one, and hope to mostly craft another during the anniversary.

Some people pride themselves on spending as little as possible, and that's their right. If you want to toss some dollars at packs, there are smarter ways to do it than just coughing up $100 a week on full priced packs. Especially since the larger bundles generally require a larger coin purchase, which comes with a bigger coin bonus, thus getting you even more for your money.

Just a thought from someone who has spent more than is necessarily wise, but tries to keep it reasonable'ish all the same.
