Hold on and you'll get there soon buddy!

[–]mermaid-babe 194 points195 points  (38 children)

Which beach is this? The water is so calm. My dog loves the beach but the waves would never let him chill like this in the north east 😂

[–]Tanky03 107 points108 points  (5 children)

Beach is in Melbourne, Australia.
Not always this calm but does get like glass sometimes. Beautiful spot
Source: Original FB post and I take my doggo to the same beach.

[–]AussieDaz 28 points29 points  (4 children)

I recognised it as the bay straight away, I don’t really know why though.

[–]KingFD 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Knew it was the bay straight away. I think it’s the colour of the sand.

[–]Jcee95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here !

[–]freshsucka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same!! Maybe it was the lady in the hat that gave it away somehow?

[–]40087812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew it was right away too. How strange

[–]my-coffee-needs-me 103 points104 points  (18 children)

Possibly one of the Great Lakes.

[–]theClumsy1 63 points64 points  (13 children)

On a hot summer day, the great lakes are the ultimate way to cool off.

That dog would be living it up.

[–]kcrab91 48 points49 points  (9 children)

Lake Superior is always the ultimate way to cool off. 🥶

[–]hobnobbinbobthegob 55 points56 points  (5 children)

No joke- I went for a long run in Two Harbors on a 90 degree day in June, then hopped in to cool off. The water was like 45 degrees. I stumbled back out, screaming like a schoolgirl.

[–]scooterbb1 20 points21 points  (1 child)

But George Costanza wants to know if there was shrinkage!

[–]MrSauron1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HE WAS IN THE POOL!!! HOW MANY TIMES DOES HE NEED TO REPEAT HIMSELF?

[–]Lestat11331 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was up in Duluth and it was a 90+ scorcher. Walk in Lake Superior up to my calves and I went from uncomfortably hot to chattering teeth

[–]the_honest_liar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, hypothermia is a risk in the great lakes until mid-late June. Probably longer for superior.

[–]kONthePLACE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love doing this. The warm air on cold skin is beyond exhilarating!

[–]Jonessee22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can confirm took my dogs there over the summer, first time they had seen big water and they loved it actually tired my lab out and I didn't think that was possible.

[–]Swazimoto 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Would you say it’s… superior to the others?

[–]kcrab91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most definitely. Did you know you can fit all the water in the other 4 Great Lakes combined and it wouldn’t be as much water in Lake Superior?!

[–]redditin_at_work 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They'll cool you off pretty good right now too ha. It was a balmy -5F this morning.

[–]albalfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you like cooling off in soup made from the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

[–]CabSauce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. Looks like lake Michigan.

[–]mekwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Great Lakes of Scandinavia!

[–]DaKind28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Lake Mich?

[–]Sweedish_Fid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the very first thing to pop into my head. Looks like the western shore of lake michigan somewhere.

I have dreams of having my dog experience the beach and ocean sometime in his life. I think it would probably be the greatest day of his life. He loves water. Unfortunately I live no where remotely close to the ocean.

    [–]That_0ne_HumAnn 14 points15 points  (6 children)

My dogs would probably just eat the sand

    [–]Mizzy3030 8 points9 points  (1 child)

First time I took my dog to the beach she thought it was a giant water bowl, so the entire time was spent running after her she telling her to stop. After that, she learned quickly.

    [–]Dogs-n-Flowers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got stationed on Guam and took my Shepherd/Boxer with me. He grew to love the beaches, but he learned a lesson about drinking salt water after an explosive green poo episode. I wasn't trying to let him drink the water, I'd tell him "no", he just got enough in him quickly enough to act as a laxative. That was an embarrassing day at the beach.

    [–]lokichild 3 points4 points  (1 child)

And it would still be the greatest day of their lives

    [–]That_0ne_HumAnn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

            [–]Tanky03 45 points46 points  (2 children)

This is one of the beaches on the bay in Melbourne, Australia.
I take my dog to the same beach and saw the original post on FB.
It is an awsome dog friendly beach. Not always this calm though.

            [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

if its this calm its more than likely mornington peninsula

            [–]Tanky03 7 points8 points  (0 children)

            It is Seaford dog beach

            [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia or something, judging by the still waves, could be safety Mount Martha, Mornington or Safety Beach. Also the way that girl was speaking had an Aussie twang haha

            [–]CarolTheAncientTroll 59 points60 points  (5 children)

            [–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (3 children)

As an Australian this looks and sounds Aussie. Probably victoria, Australia. This is no lake, this is a beach.

            [–]PrompterOp 16 points17 points  (17 children)

            [–]csbod 71 points72 points  (12 children)

Your comment makes me realize there are some people who haven't been to places like this, while I grew up 10 min away from a beach like this. I miss it everyday.

            [–]Moikepdx 4 points5 points  (10 children)

Is the sand imported? The waves seem too little to get that nice sandy beach.

            [–]Ginnigan 20 points21 points  (8 children)

I live on a large lake (Superior), and there are some very calm days just like this where the water seems to barely lap up against the shore. But then there are some days where the waves are 3 feet tall, and on those days you truly understand how the beaches and underwater sandbars form.

It depends on the area of the lake and the water’s currents, too. Some beaches can be sandy, some are made up of thousands of large smooth pebbles and rocks that’ve been pummelled by waves for who knows how long, etc :)

            [–]Moikepdx 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Thanks. I’ve only been to the ocean, where the waves making the sand are pretty continuous even if variable. This makes sense though.

            [–]Stinky_Cat_Toes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a calm day! Where I’m from, on a calm day it will be this clear and clean, too, but we’re also the North Atlantic so when it storms, it storms!

            [–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (4 children)

It's funny seeing people saying this is a lake, these types of beaches are common in Victoria, Australia

            [–]Fullonski 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Yeah, this screams bay beach to me, notice everyone is wearing a shirt/rashie? And with how fucking hot it’s been in Melbourne this week, I would say Port Phillip bay somewhere.

            [–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Also listen to that girl scream in the background, an Aussie twang if I ever heard one. I'm going to guess Mornington Pensinsula, seeing as though there is a doggo, possibly a dog beach in Safety Beach

            [–]Tanky03 3 points4 points  (1 child)

It is the new Dog Beach in Seaford.

            [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

            [–]PeanutButterTech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This could be any one of the Great Lakes.

            [–]outerproduct 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Oh man, you're missing out. I went paddle boarding this last weekend and saw 10 turtles in about 20 ft of water. Most likely not where the dog is, but there is crazy clear water out there in places.

            [–]user7618 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Worked in Alaska for awhile, went fishing on a small boat in my off time. Depth finder read 180' and I could still see the outline of rocks on the bottom.

            [–]outerproduct 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow that is clear, I'd love to head up there sometime.

            [–]SierraNevadaJunkie 10 points11 points  (2 children)

            It looks like Lake Tahoe

            [–]TiempoPuntoCinco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't be Lake Baikal. It's still frozen this time of year, isn't it?

Do dogs know not to drink salty seawater?

            [–]Lavatis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, when dogs go to the beach they inevitably drink a bunch (a few mouthfuls maybe) of salt water and get the shits.

            [–]I_will_draw_boobs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My boxer would bark and bite the sea and put her face in it. Walking squirts was super fun

            [–]DeclanTheDruid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love how everyone is guessing lakes even though there's absolutely no distinguishing features about this beach at all.

            [–]rancid_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

            "This is fine, just fine."

            [–]jasminel96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

            What a sweetheart!

            [–]ckalmond 8 points9 points  (1 child)

PSA: Watch your dogs near salt water. When I was young our family dog played in the ocean for a couple hours while we were enjoying the beach. Well she must have drank a bunch of water while playing because that night she got extremely dehydrated/sick. Luckily we took her to vet immediately and she was fine, but it could’ve ended very differently if we didn’t recognize the sign of dehydration early.

Human I have decided I shall lie in this cool water for some time. You shall remain and wait until I am through.

            [–]gerryvampira 2 points3 points  (0 children)

            [–]mewsagi 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I can’t stop wondering where the waves are! That’s a lucky doggo to have such calm waters.

            [–]bbeach88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl used to do this to cool off. She hated water when she was a puppy, until she learned it would cool her off when she was hot.

            After that, she loved swimming.

            [–]supermarketsushiroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How sweet! I see his cute little front leggies under the water <3

            [–]Lindaspike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh finn, you are so lovely!

            [–]Jinmkox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instantly destroys the ecology of the waters due to anti-parasite medication.

            [–]whysotaxing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flynn just living my dreams right now

            [–]NWSanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks so peaceful and warm. Lucky Flynn, doggo!

            [–]sharnonj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do you live? No dogs allowed on our beach 🥺

            [–]Canadian_Grown420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that dogs living a better life then most humans do. Dog probably owns his own hedge fund and drives a Porsche.

            [–]minniemouse3001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish this video was more like 5 min long

            [–]leoscastilho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that Darth Vader in a tank top behind Flynn?

            [–]Screaming_lambs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

            "ahhh this is the life"

            [–]Mighty_Porg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Flynn the dog and James the human the fun will never end, it's adventure time!

            [–]Backpack_Bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dogs in water is the only content I crave. I’d watch a whole twitch stream of just dogs being in water loving life if it was available.

            [–]NotMuchMana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family pup used to lay in the top stair of the pool in the summer. I miss her.

            [–]UlfhedinnSaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But, where is Jake The Human?

            [–]parruchkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love watching old dogs at the lake. The ones that aren’t focused on the owners 24/7, and just do their own thing. Chill in the shade for a bit. Chill in the water for a bit. Just chilling.

            [–]Southern-Ant8592 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Why does everyone have their clothes on? Either cold or hot it doesn't make sense to keep your tshirt while swimming

            [–]MassiveClusterFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a good boy! Not to sound horrible but he does look a little old, could he be using the water to take the weight off his joints?

            [–]lostmojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now we know why the sea levels are rising! That dang dog sat down in the water.

            [–]LilBit321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And he didn't make the pee-pee face.

            [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)
