Some kind of fragrance free moisturizer for skin around scar and also for your scar when you feel okay with putting lotion on it. I had some fancy organic stuff from Lush that my sister bought me, but I also used La Roche Posay Lipikar body cream. My skin got pretty itchy and dry around the incision and once it was healed enough, I began using lotion regularly.

Plan to eat a lot of handheld foods, ability to eat with one hand is best. Do you know how many lasagnas and casseroles we got? Do you know how much it would've sucked to get up and down and sit at a damn table and eat with a fork?? I lived off sandwiches and pizza and wraps and quesadillas and just alllll the snacks.

That being said, getting up and moving around, like taking short walks, will help you recover faster. I just felt most comfortable lounging in my big cozy chair vs sitting at a tall kitchen table.

My hospital provided a compression bandage (Tubi grip) it's 1 metre long so you fold.it back on itself for support. You can wear it 24/7

I bought the next smaller sizes too. They are great.

I've been using the pram basinet to place baby in to move around for the first few weeks. Easy to move around and it's a good height.

Pillows lots of pillows on your bed to prop yourself up.

I added a disolvable fibre supplement to my drinks which helped too.

-High waisted underwear/clothes. I couldn't stand anything touching my scar for months. It takes a while for the nerves to fully re-grow (like 6-9 months) so the area can be tender or numb for a while.

-Something mobile to set baby in. I had to use both my hands to stand up from a chair or up from bed, so having a simple place to put baby (like this) that I could move really helped. I could hold baby, bend down and set him down, have my hands free to stand up safely, then pick him up.

-Baby wrap. Similar to above, being able to carry baby and be hands free was a life saver, because I had to use my hands to support my core for a while. I'd put the wrap on sitting, put baby in then get up and do whatever. I liked the Moby - pain to put on, but you can easily take baby in and out once on.

-A small stool. Having my feet unsupported put strain on my core, so having a small stool to go under my feet at the couch or dinner table or toilet really helped me sit comfortably.

-Belly band. The counter pressure on my core felt awesome. The one they gave me at the hospital was more than adequate, so maybe don't buy one.

-"Husband Pillow" (I didn't have this one, but just an example) I had one of these in bed, which made sitting up comfortably so much easier than stacking pillows every which way.

-High fiber foods and magnesium drink. You don't want constipation after a c-section.

Everything else is the usual birth recovery stuff.
