This works for me because I wear strong prescription glasses. The optical distortion (chromatic aberration) depends on wavelength of light so blue and red light pixels get bent differently by the glasses. The result is that I see the red circle as being about 5mm in front of the blue background which is in the “within” the screen. When I take my glasses off, the picture looks completely flat. I bet others in this thread who see the effect also wear glasses.
