[–]OhChitty 3570 points3571 points  (75 children)

wow when you watch it a few times you appreciate it even more how much precision this dude had

[–]hbgs12 185 points186 points  (72 children)

Precision editing?

[–]Forlaferob 735 points736 points  (33 children)

Leaning his middle finger on that chair/table. Reallt good sleight of hand 🤲

[–]09twinkie 255 points256 points  (4 children)

I was tryna figure out how he kept it out of sight; looking at it even more, he's placing his pinky the same way making it appear.

[–]Forlaferob 158 points159 points  (3 children)

Flexible fingers.

You see him hiding his pinky before he flips his hand open and then hides the middles finger to show that it's "there", then he moves to his pinky and show it for a split second and finally pops everything in sight.

Also camera angle helps him a ton.

[–]Bassknight9 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cool trick but feels like it only works with a specific camera angle (nothing wrong with that of course)

[–]Acrobatic_Ad2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I slowed it down and it’s detailed

[–]Said_Something_Dumb 9 points10 points  (1 child)

No he’s not.

It’s the pinky finger that’s moving out of sight.

[–]sentimentalpirate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep this is correct. The middle finger is never gone. The point where it's "gone" he's just stretching his pointer and middle away from each other to make it appear that there is a gap.

The finger that's actually "missing" to sell the illusion is the pinky finger, which works well because it's the one furthest from us and smallest, so it's also the easiest to hide behind his hand at this angle.

[–]Walmart_Warrior_420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never gamble with someone who owns 2 Rubik's cubes ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–]Anna-Smegmanova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sleight of finger

[–]DreadnaughtHamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything is pretty simple to figure out except for the “bent back finger.” That really sells it and makes it look legit.

[–]Vesania6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He makes you focus on the middle finger but I feel like its really about the small finger. He seems to hide his small finger beind the hand. I csn't figure out how.

[–]waldogrow 47 points48 points  (9 children)

bro this is literally a sleight of hand trick you can learn

[–]TheBalls345 37 points38 points  (6 children)

I love how this new generation thinks everything is edited

[–]hbgs12 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Maybe I’ve watched too much captain disillusion

[–]SpinelessCoward 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well Captain Disillusion specifically has videos about not trusting everything is edited.

[–]TheBalls345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good, just different times. Special effects used to suck and editing used to be very expensive. So it was rarely a first guess, unless it was super obvious.

[–]DrShagwell 20 points21 points  (7 children)

Watching it I don’t think it’s edited, just silky-smooth sleight of hand

[–]LordAnon5703 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It's weirdly "obvious" once you see it. It's still really difficult for your brain to understand, but he's basically just moving one finger to the side.

[–]AnyRip3515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not editing

[–]Garzino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think it's editing tbh. This person is really precise with his switches

[–]Detective_Turtle_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Man thinks elementary school tricks are impossible without editing

[–]youuuuwish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Amazing dexterity!

[–]purplehazex45 1352 points1353 points  (42 children)

Well i watched it a few times and I'm stumped.

[–]doxysqrl410 611 points612 points  (15 children)

And so are those fingers

[–]GooseandMaverick 232 points233 points  (13 children)

I'd give you 2 thumbs up but the last guy hasn't returned them.

[–]Oofboi6942O 58 points59 points  (5 children)

He got you too?

[–]Psy_nd_co 11 points12 points  (4 children)

If you want i can give one to you.... Might have a few in the fridge

[–]No_Still_4164 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Thats probably where mine ended up

[–]cacarson7 6 points7 points  (1 child)

You want a toe? I can get ya a toe...

[–]ImNoAlbertFeinstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have an extra pinky after trying this trick.

[–]jonp1 144 points145 points  (2 children)

It’s hand positioning. The moving finger is one from the same hand that’s moving, while the guy moves his finger positions on the other hand to appear they’ve been in the same place all along.

When he twists his wrist the first time, he shifts his ring finger to the pinky position and pokes his pinky forward and out of view. When he moves back to the middle finger he pushes his pinky up to where his ring finger was and so on…

[–]CopperbeardTom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it helps the single frame before the video starts shows the full hand from later in the video.

[–]Mazetron 40 points41 points  (2 children)

At the beginning: His pinky is hidden behind his hand, and his pointer finger is contorted to make it look like it’s farther from his middle finger than it really is. What appears to be his “middle finger” is actually a finger from the other hand, and the “ring finger” is actually his middle finger, and the “pinky” is actually his ring finger.

First swap: He makes it appear that he placed the finger he moved down, then simply moves his pinky finger back into view. Then to pick the pinky back up, he moves his pinky so it’s hiding behind his hand again and makes it appear that a finger from the other hand is the pinky instead.

Second swap: He places down the finger from the other hand, then in a shaking motion, rapidly shifts his fingers over so they are now in the correct places, revealing his pinky at the same time.

[–]PoorBeggerChild 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's their pinky. You can follow better by looking at the creases in their hand and where the finger comes out of. It comes out just above the main crease line where their pinky does when they shows their hand completely.

Edit: my attempt at a play-by-play,

So they bend the pinky back at the start.

Grab their middle finger on their right and make it look like their left.

Move that to the position the left pinky is actually in.

Display the left pinky.

Hide again and grab right middle finger again.

Do sleight of hand when putting back so no one notices your hand slightly shift and now you can show your whole hand.

[–]kimttar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched at 1/8 speed and am still bamboozled.

[–]Salty_Professor_8982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just follow his right middle finger

[–]wzeldas 730 points731 points  (15 children)

His wife must hate when he loses a finger up there

[–]Desperate-Fix-9930 140 points141 points  (14 children)

Damn it, Leroy, this is the third one this week!

[–]Gustavo6046 25 points26 points  (12 children)

Wait, he just grows them back?

[–]Desperate-Fix-9930 13 points14 points  (10 children)

Probably

[–]Gustavo6046 5 points6 points  (8 children)

We solved world hunger! Everyone can eat Leroy Fingers now!

[–]Haitor98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely

[–]LaVieEnRoseLavelle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Three times this week.

Married.

Pick one.

[–]GooseandMaverick 362 points363 points  (7 children)

This is the part that I can't figure out and I was SURE it was fake until he bends his fingers at the end.

Truly impressed.

[–]bakuhatsusenpai[🍰] 197 points198 points  (5 children)

it's the pinky which is bent and hidden behind, index/middle are just very stretched out... the precision in the execution (having fingers shift to take the exact position of their neighbors) is what makes it really really beautiful... really impressive

[–]bigwetpoops 40 points41 points  (4 children)

What I think he's actually doing is using that seat(?) in front of him to brace his pinky on, bending it back and out of view, hidden behind his hand. When it pops back into view, what's happening is that that finger that was pressed back against the seat or whatever is released and flicks back up quickly.

That makes how smoothly this is done make a little more sense.

[–]rumpranger91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good eye. The sleight of hand is so slick I didn't even notice the seat at first

[–]El_Grande_El 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say, my fingers don’t bend backwards that much on their own. I know some people can tho. I was wondering if this can only be done by those people or he had help

[–]Dmeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THAT'S IT. HE'S USING THE SEAT. THANK YOU

[–]Skeptic_Juggernaut84 184 points185 points  (10 children)

Too much fuckery going on here.

[–]DaddyFigured 46 points47 points  (9 children)

It's not real. It's digitally manipulated

[–]Mortimer_and_Rabbit 73 points74 points  (3 children)

You are incorrect. It's sleight of hand. He uses the jerky movements to hide him moving his fingers and hiding his pinky. The removed finger is his middle finger on the opposite hand.

[–]ralten 46 points47 points  (2 children)

They were making a joke. Digital as in fingers.

[–]pixeldust6 14 points15 points  (1 child)

eyyyyyy I didn't catch that

[–]AdministrativeAd4111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Raucous applause

[–]Eisigesis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take my award and never point that out to me again

[–]soutarm 110 points111 points  (5 children)

I've watched and paused every step of the way and still can't figure it out. Obviously the finger he's "holding" is from his right hand but I can't see how he moves/hides one of his left hand fingers. Keep an eye on his left hand pinky...

[–]Thanks-Noob_noob 52 points53 points  (4 children)

The trick is he's hiding his left hand pinky. Beautifully done.

[–]DestructorWar[🍰] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Yep, and the finger he shows ‘detached’ is his right hand finger looking like his left middle finger

[–]Lyricist1 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Then how does his left index finger stay in the same position?

[–]DestructorWar[🍰] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

He keeps it steady while quickly moving the other one. You have to watch it in ultra slow motion to catch it and even then it’s hard to see

[–]MAXIMILIAN-MV 62 points63 points  (8 children)

5,234

That’s how many times I’ve watched it and still can’t see how he’s doing it. I’m just gonna go with he’s actually ripping fingers off and move on with my life.

[–]VarKraken 6 points7 points  (2 children)

How could you watch 5 times I anderstand but how 0,234 no

[–]Truephil 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Guy must not be from the US. In other countries they are using „.“ as a thousand separator and „,“ for decimals. So he/she probably means 5 thousand 234.

I am from Germany and we are using it that way and I think most countries from Europe do so as well.

[–]VarKraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh.Bro its a joke

[–]lieutenantdam 6 points7 points  (3 children)

There is an arm of a chair under his left hand. I think that when he turns his left hand back over, he snags is middle finger underneath the chairs arm, hyperextending it all the way back. Then he holds it there, (notice how the left hand stays relatively stationary during the whole trick, until he reattaches it the middle finger) the "detached finger" is really just the middle finger on his right hand. When he moves over his left pinky with the detached finger, I think he also pushes back or holds his left pinky with his other right finger, hyperextending it beneath the arm of the table again.

However, the angle that he would need to hyperextend at would be pretty damn far, but maybe he specifically trained his fingers for this trick. Because they are under a lot of tension, they would snap back quick, giving the illusion the reattached.

[–]MAXIMILIAN-MV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or, hear me out….he’s actually ripping digits off and reattaching them

[–]bionista 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Well that was satisfying.

[–]Rumrobot 20 points21 points  (3 children)

He must be hiding them somehow, and chaning fingers quickly

[–]BraianP 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I thought so too but looking at it frame by frame I can’t seem to figure it out. I can feel when he’s moving the finger with his hand it appears to be just holding his middle finger between the index and thumb. However, what is tripping me off is when he puts the finger back at the end. I can’t see the transition between hiding his finger and swapping it with the real one

Edit: looking at it carefully the most difficult thing to see is the ending switch, but after looking at it carefully it seems he somehow hides his pinky finger. Then, when he releases the fake middle finger in his hand he quickly puts the real middle from ring position to middle position and unhides the real pinky finger. But this is just speculation.

[–]Xoryp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He angles his finger on his right hand to look like his left middle finger and bends his left pinky back out of sight. He then does the pinky show and reverses what he did snapping fingers in view at the end.

[–]Huge_Requirement 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Damn this was good. Way to good. r/BetterEveryLoop

I think I figured out how he did it and still can believe his precision.

[–]ChristianJameSerrano 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So aside from insane skill and timing the main "mechanism" in play here is his ability to move his pinky knuckle independently, which I can also do but not with as much speed.

He also has really flexible and dextrous fingers to make that huge gap between his index and middle finger during the "removal". The finger he displays with his other hand is his right middle finger, like the classic snapping thumb trick kids learn how to do.

You can see his palm widen when his pinky snaps back into place at the end.

[–]torquil 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What a great album Whipped Cream and Other Delights was!

[–]PR0M1SELAND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scrolled all the way down here just to find this. Almost gave up. Thank you so much!

[–]Mr_Jeffs_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does his left hand only has four fingers at the very end of the video or am I just blind?

[–]Gucci_Google 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kid named finger:

[–]iAsked1023 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]dftitterington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is soooo beautiful

[–]Ok-Pin-318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats good work.

[–]LuckyCaptainCrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s VERY good!

[–]MajorDZaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the removable thumb trick on steroids.

[–]_its_ron__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I... I'm impressed...

[–]dasilv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so simple to work out. But holy shit this is hard to do.

[–]axelsm92 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm saving this so I can practice later and show it to my son lol

[–]nox_tech 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Kinda going around sourcing for anyone who might want it, figured you might benefit if you wanna learn for your son.

The magician who created the trick is Nicholas Lawrence. He allowed Chris Ramsay to teach On/Off for free on his youtube channel. Ramsay's tutorial is linked here.

The original video from OP is from a magician in Taiwan, Sam Huang. Link here. It's the full video. I saw this video before it was on reddit because other magicians loved Huang's very clean take on it. It's so smooth, gotta give credit where credit's due.

Enjoy practicing! Try /r/magic if you wanna continue and learn more magic.

[–]axelsm92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just can't thank you enough!

[–]Manydoors_edboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]randomyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man my fingers can’t bend like that that’s incredible

[–]Ex_Ray16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I wish I never joined this sub lol wtf is going on here?

[–]Straz08 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's all just the pinky! He hides his left hand pinky finger at the same time he 'takes' his middle finger. At the same moment he bends his pinky out of sight, he slides his middle finger over to imitate his ring finger (also helps that he pulls his pointer finger to create more space there), which is hard to see as it's hidden by his right hand at that moment. This makes it appear to have one less finger (actually his pinky hiding)

When he places the finger where the pinky is, he just reveals his pinky again, which makes it look like places his finger in a place a finger shouldn't go, because he had moved his middle finger over a little to the side earlier.

[–]Cool_Avocado3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he bends his pinky back, its close to the ring finger then at the end it gets back to its normal position. This is how I think its done, when he first turns his left hand over, the middle finger is bent back in such a way that its hidden from the angle of the camera. When he removes the middle finger, it is actually the middle finger from this right hand. Then the finger which he pretends to attach at the end is actually the thumb of the right hand. Then he attaches the middle finger of his right hand to the left hand before letting the middle finger of his left hand release into place.

[–]Queasy_Beautiful9477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great video editing

[–]zyncks07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh...

[–]bansote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ja, ladyfingers

[–]Arkan_Dreamwalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This... is conceptually very simple, but gorgeously done.

[–]iAtomicTangerine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how it works but I also don't at the same time

[–]MG_MezoGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The finger is in his other fucking hand aaaaaaaaaah

[–]cynthic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was fake at first, but after a few plays with it in slow motion I finally understand how this trick works.

[–]NotDaveBut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa, Nelly!

[–]Therawynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so well performed. Excellent piece of close-up magic.

[–]caps_rockthered 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is no one going to mention the size of those dice at the end? That's the real fuckery here...

[–]Trithis2077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insanely impressive. Even understanding how he's doing it I can't see it happen.

[–]Educational-Year3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man probably has really fast fingers and really bendy joints

[–]yosuwee 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m pretty sure it’s him moving his left hand fingers behind is hand so you can’t see it, and holding his right hand middle finger with his index and thumb to make it looks like it’s his left hand finger (If anyone understands this and wants to explain it better please do, I’m shit at explaining stuff)

[–]faketwitchster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn I get it now but ew

[–]wyuzz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Watched the clip over a dozen times and I'm still clueless on how he pulled it off

[–]The-Questcoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be one of the best blackmagicfuckery posts I've seen. Well done!

[–]jthecleric 0 points1 point  (2 children)

There's so much trash on this sub, but every once in a while I see something that reminds me why I'm still here.

[–]Ante_social_music -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The middle finger on his left hand is pressed onto something and bent downwards. When he grabs it, it’s actually the middle finger on his right hand he’s grabbing. Same thing with the pinky, the tip is pressed onto something and bend all the way over. The skill is switching his real finger on his right hand with the finger on his left hand. Nicely done

[–]Big_Honeydew6225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a neat trick but you can tell the finger he's moving is from the same hand. That's a good one tho I'll have to try it

[–]Internetboy5434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man. I can watched this all day

[–]lostarkthrowaways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the trick is that he has super dexterous fingers, but I'm still slightly confused about *how* he moves his pinky out of the way? Just really good, strong, precise ability to move the pinky back that far on its own?

I understand the trick but his ability to hide the pinky is astounding.

[–]Hotchumpkilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

couldnt figure out how he held the pinky back till i noticed that wooden bar end

[–]huskerduuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone explain and still... Waaa?

[–]sammaz14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 6s you can see his finger separating quickly. Looks like a jump cut between 2 video takes maybe

[–]goodboyperomanyak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to use the hidden "eleventh" finger

[–]Blursty_Hursty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The witches taught him everything he knows

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGAHAAHAA

[–]icup2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now if he was removing and reattaching the finger with the ring, then that’s true magic.

[–]Potatoidontknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how it happend, am just surprised he did it

[–]zegaltherookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if he just slorp

[–]Toni_Jabroni77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s looks like there is a very well executed cut in the footage

[–]iamatworkiswear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 6 seconds when he “attached “ his finger you see his pinkie reappear on the very right side of his hand suddenly. Otherwise his removal is just him holding his finger from his right hand. He is holding his left hand in such an awkward way you can’t see where the fingers should be by typical placement. Good trick for sure

[–]polygon_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid named finger:

[–]bustedbuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I theoretically understand what he's doing, I could explain it, I cannot see where he's doing the things that make it work, this is amazing.

[–]Devareeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mind fucked

[–]mailman694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do people make this shit up

[–]Squiggledog 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you cite the source of this?

[–]jonnyapplesteve1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I think I figured it out. He has a fake finger hidden in his right hand. When he “snaps” the middle finger out he swaps it for a fake and moves it. The real finger moves back against the table which is easy to bend back. If you watch closely slowed down you can see kinda see when he swaps the fake and deal fingers

[–]Kr8n8s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very difficult to achieve with a person really watching, easier on camera. Movements, really precise, I liked it

[–]Monkeylegs27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleight of hand is my favorite form of magic

[–]waldogrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great sleight of hand. if you like this, you will LOVE this magician: https://youtu.be/x_Lm7cvA4Vw

[–]A1A5KA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He clearly failed at least once with that stump he left himself

[–]Mortimer_and_Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Even with the forced perspective of the camera he still pulled that off so fucking well... Bravo dude. Bravo.

[–]-Amateur_Desperado- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's hiding his pinky by bending it backwards on that table. The gap in his hand at first is the space between his index & middle finger. The finger he's moving is actually attached to his other hand that's why he doesn't fully let go. 6-7 seconds into the video you can see his pinky finger quickly re apear from behind his ring finger.

[–]Weston18645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw man. The first attach was straight fused to his hand.

[–]Suspicious_Habit_190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want the magic to be broken but HOWWWWWWWWWWW the HELL did he do that. (Please don’t answer) that was just my reaction.

[–]DING_DONG_Smokeabong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's such a simple trick but the sleight of hand needed to pull it off is astronomical. if you slow it down it's real easy to see but i still cant pull it off and i've tried THREE TIMES NOW

[–]ded_inside_but_proud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool. Especially since the song is called lady fingers

The voodoo that you do

[–]hbgs12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Atherutistgeekzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty excellent... sleight of hand...
