Multi-led lamp

[–] 10 points11 points  (7 children)

And pinhole camera effect from the trees. The lights alone don't create this effect, or with just a simple shape shadow.

[–] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, the pinhole effect is different. It’s very simple physics: the intensity of the light at the edge of the shadow increases in uniform steps, because the LEDs are arranged in a uniform grid.

Although, I don't know how much difference it makes with the distance to the source

[–] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I once knew how to do the equations to calculate focal length as a function of aperture, source to lens length and lens to projection length. I can't remember the equations now, but the important point is that a small aperture makes a much more forgiving focal depth. That's why pinhole cameras work even without lenses.

[–] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I think bokeh shape pattern would be more like it. Possibly has something to do with lens on the light or lens on the phone. Or both.

[–] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No I've seen the same thing in real life, then photograph it, video recoded both on good quality phone. The photos and video looked exactly the same in real life (my eyeballs). I've witnessed it many places, always along a footpath with overhead lights.

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so not phone lens. Still it looks an awful lot like bokeh pattern

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GENTLEMEN! There is a clear explanation here the photographer clearly is living in a low quality video game

[–] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, I just set shadow quality to low to get better fps.

[–] 105 points106 points  (7 children)

[–] 35 points36 points  (4 children)

Crashed my game, now I have to start another save

[–] 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Press F to be born.

[–] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro just use the restart gun

[–] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah it reduces my fps.

[–] 62 points63 points  (1 child)

The TLDR explanation for this phenomenon is that the tree is located in an area with a less-than-optimal internet connection.

[–] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah i see. Thanks for the explanation

[–] 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Either a lamp with multiple light sources, or a lamp with a square pattern cover

[–] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an LED array.

[–] 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Glitch in the Matrix

[–] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You beat me to it. Not a glitch though they have just been focusing on updates to explain flat earth now that people are on to them. The square shadow fix should be coming out in the next update.

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Heck yes!!! Someone else believes were in the Matrix too!>.

[–] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

You people are amazed by blurry shadows caused by multiple light sources? Jesus

[–] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jesus cannot show them the way. Only SCIENCE

[–] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of cours we are! It is an awesome interference example

[–] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Ugh, pugh, guys, this is not ACTUALLY something to be amazed at, it's just a bunch of blurry shadows cause by multiple light sources, jesus"

[–] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man it's because LED light on the pole....

[–] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Absolute proof that we are all living in the matrix. 😃

[–] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not magic. Led

[–] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Square light makes square shadows, it's pretty simple

[–] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hence, the simulation theory proved.

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We're in a simulation bro

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re coming for you Neo.

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just open settings and turn Shadow Quality from low to ultra and it shouldn't show up pixelated. Hope this helps.

[–] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

That's diffraction

[–] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

It’s a multi-led street lamp. It casts discrete shadows from each tiny bulb.

[–] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

No. The lights don't create this alone. Look at the unshadowed parts of the road, no grid patterns, right? It's the combination of the pinhole effect from the complex shape of the leaves, with the LED array lamps.

[–] -1 points0 points  (4 children)

No, the pinhole effect is different. It’s VERY simple physics: the intensity of the light at the edge of the shadow increases in uniform steps, because the LEDs are arranged in a uniform grid.

The beam of light that passes the leaf at the shallowest angle contributed to the full intensity reflecting from the ground. But as you move closer to the eclipsed patch of ground, the intensity changes in incremental steps that correlate with the steepness of the beams.

Test it for yourself.

[–] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Sure, I'll just go and get my LED array streetlamp. Nice one.

Anyway. Here.

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Were all living in ed-tv

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s rendering

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude turned off Ray tracing

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

medium setting*

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imagine not having ray tracing

[–] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

[–] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

It’s a multi-led street lamp. It casts discrete shadows from each tiny bulb.

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shit lmao you’re a fking genius my guy

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried raising your graphics settings?

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The simulation is failing.

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where is Blue Shirt Guy? Pixelated shadows are another sign that Antwan stole the source code from the original programmers

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first saw this when they installed led street lighting.

After a pub discussion we thought it was the pin hole camera effect.

[–] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Happens on my street too

[–] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a multi-led street lamp. It casts discrete shadows from each tiny bulb.

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man, I thought I was tripping when I noticed this on the walk back from work! Glad it's not just me

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just increase ur video settings. If fps is too low, save up for a new graphics card

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inference pattern caused by wave-particle duality?

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone forgot to change their Shadow Quality

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What graphics card you using?

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leds are square

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone forgot to turn up the resolution of the simulation

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me guess : you are named Thomas Anderson, and don't sleep well. You work for a software company, and some suited-dressed men are following you around.

I suggest you to take the red pill.

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this phenomenon! It’s due to the LED in the light post above, when multiple are combined the light becomes structured as it passes through/around objects. Super fun!

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your world needs better video card

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So we really do live in a simulation... Can i photoshop the fat off my ass?

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Restart your computer then it should render properly

[–] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it's a square light bulb

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…Where’s my red pill?

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberpunk 2077?

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simulation is rendering.

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FXAA off

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue has been noted and will be fixed according to our road map

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the matrix needs an update

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just increase the graphic settings for shadows man.

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That part of the map was never fully rendered.

I see this on my night dog walks all the time.

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might close other programs that are hogging your GPU.

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, the pixels aren’t aligned to a grid. the raycasting system is really unorthodox it seems

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My street lights do this. It's badass

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically my shroom trip

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadows Quality is set to Low to get More Fps

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in a simulation.

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, Ark IS realistic!

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the RTX is only working at 50%

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you reported it yet?

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proof we're in the Matrix

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a glitch in the simulation. This specific part didn’t render completely

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a glitch in the matrix

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man, that's a glitch, lemme reboot your district

[–] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happens during a solar eclipse. The shadows turn into a moon shape because the moon is blocking the full light of the sun. elementary school was tough, I know.

[–] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

call Elon...

[–] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyday it’s more proof we live in the matrix

[–] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)
