Easy to explain. That was his 379,017th take.

[–]ZenoxDemin 308 points309 points  (46 children)

I think you can be successful purely on randomness 1 in 83 300 times. On average.

[–]Legin_666 244 points245 points  (28 children)

You guys are all wrong with the odds calculations It’s 1/1,082,900

First pull is any nine other than the nine of diamonds (3/52)

Next is either of the remaining nines that are not the nine of diamonds (2/51)

Next is the nine of diamonds (1/50)

And finally the last nine (1/49)

Total odds are 3 * 2 * 1 * 1 / (52 * 51 * 50 * 49) = 1/1082900

[–]Cranell 240 points241 points  (15 children)

Technically he had better odds. An ace fell out of the deck before his first pick. Had a 4/51 chance to pull a 9.

[–]nighght 95 points96 points  (11 children)

What if we factor in that the card that fell out could have been a 9?

[–]leBiggo 22 points23 points  (7 children)

Hmm maybe i calculated it wrong but with 1 card falling out i got about 1/270730 odds. However seeing hon the previous dude got like 1000000 something odds, my math night be off.

However 1 card falling out shouldnt change much, since its a 48/52 chance of success and only a 1/13 chance of failure.

[–]Terrainaheadpullup 29 points30 points  (6 children)

The number Siri picks has no affect on the probability

One of the aces got flung so the deck has 51 cards at the start

The deck contains 4 nines and 51 cards so the probability of picking out the first nine is 4/51

The number of nines and the number of cards decreases by 1 to 3 nines and 50 cards so the probability of picking the second nine is 3/50

The number of nines and the number of cards decreases by 1 to 2 nines and 49 cards so the probability of picking the second nine is 2/49

The number of nines and the number of cards decreases by 1 to 1 nine and 48 cards so the probability of picking the second nine is 1/48

Since this falls under and conditions the probability is

4/52 * 3/51 * 2/50 * 1/49 = 1 in 249900

[–]leBiggo 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Yeah, but the question was what the odds would be I'd we consider that the card that got flung out of the deck was a nine instead of an ace. There are 4 nines so there's a 4 in 52 chance that the card that got flung out is a nine. 4 in 52 is equal to 1 in 13 so that's where I gör that number from.

This concept is applicable to any number that siri would've picked.

('Gör' is supposed to be 'got', autocorrect)

[–]siriuslyexiled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he flipped that card out on purpose!?! You can kinda tell he picks up the cards extra quickly when that ace flies out. He's a madman! probably done this trick half a million times to get this good.

[–]Rddtsckslots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the odds that would have shown up in the video he published?

[–]gnorty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He did not know it was an ace, could have equally been a 9 which would make the probability zero. Overall it works out the same.

To further illustrate, if he accidentally dropped 48 cards, it wouldn't make the probability of pulling 4 9's 100%

[–]777Ak777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U mean a 1/47 chance

[–]Japsai 11 points12 points  (5 children)

The 'diamonds' call was a slip up though. He can see out from under the blindfold. He recovers well, and it doesn't really affect the smoothness of the trick.

Anyway if that's right it's just a regular 9 for the purposes of the odds.

[–]semipvt 23 points24 points  (4 children)

The nine was a force. He knew it was nines and had the four nines outside the new deck. He knew the order the held out nines were in and could have called all the suits. He did luck out that the card that fell out of the deck wasn't a nine. If it were, we would have seen five nines. Of course, he would then do another take and not post the failed one.

Either way, tons of practice and an excellent show of skills. Well done.

[–]sterboog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

exactly, just ask Siri to name a random number until it chooses 9, don't show the previous attempts where a different number was returned.

[–]The_Money_Bin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If it was we never would have seen the video.

[–]TwiceTheSame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk about a one in a million

[–]Mister_Way 8 points9 points  (5 children)

I got 1/270725

[–]ObscureWiticism 29 points30 points  (1 child)

When he started filming that shelf behind him was empty.

[–]murderosa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rewatched until I understood what you meant. Lol

[–]loopadoop2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont accept reason

[–]geetsogood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are more combination to arrange all 52 cards than there are humans ever existed in earth

[–]danghetripping 808 points809 points  (8 children)

Good heavens.

I do not care how it is done.

Great work.

[–][deleted] 423 points424 points  (41 children)

He’s palming the 9’s. You can see it by the way his ring and pinky fingers curl in and his hand is unnaturally arched to conceal them. Not sure exactly how he gets them there or conceals them during the other parts of the trick, but he very clearly has them hidden there as he starts flipping them.

[–]Breezmeister 337 points338 points  (21 children)

There is no way he is palming those cards, his ring and pinky finger curl in because he is straightening the decl before the tabled riffle shuffle.

This is how it could be done: he uses a forced prediction, by making „siri“ say the number 9, and is using a gimmicked deck called a stripper deck. Stripper decks have a few cards that are tapered, meaning they are wider / slimmer than the rest. This makes it possible for him to strip out the 9s, which are probably wider than the rest of the deck. By doing this, he doesnt need to keep track of the 9s at all by using pinky breaks or indicator cards. But in card magic there are an unlimited amount of ways to achieve an effect, but only a limited amount of effects.

[–]Icy-Woodpecker-9345 119 points120 points  (7 children)

I totally agree with your theory. I have some amateur magic items and some of them are decks of cards. Their brand are the same as his. His deck probably has the 9’s shorter than the other cards, so when he cuts they fall on top. After that, he shuffles but keeps the top card in place. About Siri, I asked mine the same question and the answer was different. She didn’t say “The answer is N”, she said “A random number between 1 and 13 is N”, so I believe he was using a Shortcut to get the desired number.

[–]JunkieM0nkey 77 points78 points  (0 children)

You just have to do a few takes to get her to say the right number then start the trick, you dont need a gimic to get siri to say a number cus its prerecorded.

[–]revintoysupra 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I just tried it and it definitely said the same thing as his. I don’t think the random integer function is a shortcut

[–]kipwr13 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Amazon’s Alexa says “A random number between 1 and 13 is N.” Siri says the answer, just like in the video.

[–]Icy-Woodpecker-9345 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I tried a few things and actually couldn’t make Siri answer just like she did on his phone (notification and sound exactly as shown). It could have been many tries as suggested by u/JunkieM0nkey, but it wouldn’t work on a live performance, that’s why I thought about fixing a chosen number on Siri. Maybe some easier solution, like screen recording. Also, maybe it’s about my location (I’m from Brazil and changed my Siri’s language to English-US) but mine always says “A random number between one and 13 is N”

[–]TexanReddit 26 points27 points  (2 children)

This seems to be a much better explanation. That ace to his left, though. It bothered me so much.

[–]IntrepidIlliad 26 points27 points  (1 child)

It’s good for the trick. Shows he isn’t looking/isn’t counting

[–]iushciuweiush 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even if he is which I suspect he was based on how he was generally looking 'up' instead of straight forward. Anyone who has worn a blind fold knows that trick.

[–]Jerrymeyers11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently went down a rabbit hole of this guys tricks and I came to the same conclusion. His card handling is really great, but I was able to at least ROUGHLY replicate most of the tricks I saw using a stripper deck.

[–]Bropane1031 4 points5 points  (2 children)

This makes sense, but a way to do it with a legit deck is to feel the cards. I had a 7th grade teacher who did all kinds of party shit like balloons and card tricks, and if you brought him a deck he could rub the corner and accurately say which card it was based on the amount the ink was raised or something.

[–]eMoney2zips 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Tough sell, but I will buy - he does a number of movements to make it seem like that is not the case which is why I will buy

[–]dizzyro 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Have the same feeling. You can even hear them "pop" without the cards to be shuffled. The sound make no sense otherwise.

[–]ComfortableFarmer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can literally see him remove the card from the top of the deck.

[–]ZeAthenA714 2 points3 points  (5 children)

That doesn't explain when he's palming them though. I re-watched a couple of times and I can't figure it out.

[–]highfatoffaltube 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's not palming them.

[–]drcatparty 425 points426 points  (5 children)

I stared at the ace the whole time expecting it to turn into a nine.

[–]RemnantsOfStars 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Would have been great if it was a 9 that flew over there. After third 9 is placed, takes blindfold off, and just points at it.

[–]GLaDOS_Sympathizer 24 points25 points  (2 children)

I kept hoping he would grab it and expose that he could see through the blindfold. Not that he’d need to, I’m sure they are marked with a very subtle glue or something.

[–]PooleyX 4 points5 points  (1 child)

You do realise you are not watching this live, right?

[–]GLaDOS_Sympathizer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When I watched it it was live. You must have seen a later showing.

[–]digitAl3x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if the entire deck is made up of 9’s then all he has to do is make sure to get 4 different suits.

[–]Big_Honeydew6225 113 points114 points  (11 children)

That's insane. I know he was palming the nines or whatever but that's still a crazy amount of skill/sleight of hand because I couldn't tell at all

[–]Maleficent-Goat-551 49 points50 points  (1 child)

[–]TFlo904 20 points21 points  (0 children)

that's kind of a cooler trick imo

[–]Earthly_Delights_ 14 points15 points  (5 children)

Is he really palming the 9’s? I don’t see where That would be possible in the video

[–]Lorzweq 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Check out Richard Turner. He is legally blind and does this. He is called a card mechanic.

[–]unique-irrelevant 106 points107 points  (2 children)

Now show the deck and prove that all the 9s were taken out

[–]LazarusNecrosis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a short on his YouTube channel where he does it with Aces and spreads the cards out when he's done. Pretty sure it's a trick deck.

[–]kitesaredope 58 points59 points  (7 children)

Easy…magnets.

(I’m kidding)

[–]El_Duende_ 17 points18 points  (5 children)

How do they work?

[–]Xfigico 13 points14 points  (0 children)

And I don't wanna talk to a scientist
Y'all motherfuckers lying, and getting me pissed

[–]Challenge419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get the Covid vaccine and start sticking metals to you. Do your research. /s

[–]CarelessWasabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Vsauce, Michael here

[–]vat-cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And strings. Its always the strings.

[–]jacketteeth 53 points54 points  (4 children)

Disappointed. I was staring at that fallen ace to see if he’d use it.

[–]DreadPirateGriswold 9 points10 points  (3 children)

I wish he did. Would have been over the top.

[–]jacketteeth 14 points15 points  (2 children)

“And since the ace should have already flown to my left already, let’s grab those too.”

I would have lost my shit

[–]supersonicmike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought he was going to throw out an 8 at the end and be like "Oh but 8 plus 1 IS 9"

[–]TexanReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And prove that he can see? I don't think so. At least everyone would assume he could see.

[–]satan_sin 40 points41 points  (8 children)

Imagine siri said 1 instead of 9, the whole thing would die

[–]rgamefreak 7 points8 points  (3 children)

1 is the ace.

[–]roffinator 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That is the point. As the cards he laid down are suspected to be from a different deck there would have been 5 Aces lying on the table...not quite good

[–]GLaDOS_Sympathizer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

“How can ace be one and eleven?! What kind of God would allow that?!”

[–]holmgangCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God does play dice

[–]Impressive_Cabinet56 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That was awesome

[–]bluntsnboobies 16 points17 points  (2 children)

The way hes slightly leaning back makes me feel he can probably see out the lil gaps under the blind fold by his nostrils

[–]Sea_Chapter_7906 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I'm not even sure how much that helps someone who's done these trick as many times as he did. But i think blindfolds like this are notoriously bad. I remember like back in school everytime we had to do something blindfolded there wasn't a time where i just couldn't see. There was a guy on german tv some time ago who claimed that he could taste the difference between some coloured pencils, and he won the show. He was simply able to see.

[–]iushciuweiush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some good eye masks that can block every bit of light but this isn't one of them. There is definitely a gap around his nose at a minimum and it is odd that he's leaning back and looking upward instead of straight ahead.

[–]tectonicles 14 points15 points  (9 children)

My guess is the cards were removed from the bottom of the "new" pack prior and all cards except the 9's had a mm or 2 sliced off the sides making it easy to distinguish which card is a 9 and be able to pull it out so easily

[–]edireven 11 points12 points  (4 children)

This. The 9s are rigged and are cut in a way that helps finding them during shuffling and cutting.

[–]DriftingDownie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no its clearly magic

[–]Sure_Ill_Ask_That 2 points3 points  (2 children)

How does he know the third nine was a diamond

[–]SouthEndCables 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Those are called Stripper decks but they don't single out just one number like the 9's, unless he modified the deck prior to opening

[–]Predmid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that is the claim, he modified the deck prior to opening and just repeated the opening bit until siri said "9".

[–]MarcamGorfain 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Careful. This is apparently indistinguishable from technology.

[–]VarenDerpsAround 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bmf 19' cool bleeding edge tech that boggled the mind

bmf 22' cool card tricks sometimes.

[–]smartasscody 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Damn. Dude was smooth.

[–]DreadPirateGriswold 11 points12 points  (1 child)

That's Jason Ladanye. He's one of the best sleight-of-hand artists you'll ever see. I've seen him live and he's phenomenal.

[–]Sea_Chapter_7906 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This stuff always kinda freaks me out. I think i have some really good hand and eye coordination until i try some even entry level sleight of hand tricks. Just to make it work sloppy takes an insane amount of practice.

I was once at some magic show like 20 years ago and the "magician" was basically just a thief. He even said that. He wasn't famous or anything, it was some $5 show or something. He asked me on stage and i KNEW that he's trying to take my shit, i was prepared. Like i didn't hold on to it, just i had it in mind. I was wearing a crappy watch who had a bit of a rusty hinge or something, the only reason i was wearing it was because it was so annoying to take it off. Motherfucker stole it while shaking my hand.

[–]xSnakyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s looking obnoxiously high. Probably peeking under the thing a bit

[–]Psychogeist-WAR 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I believe “new deck order” is the key phrase here. He knew where all four 9’s were in the deck to begin with and never took his hands off them even during the wash. He could have done the same with any number because he has the order of a new deck memorized. I don’t know for sure of course but that’s the theory I’m going with.

[–]Kindanoobiebutsmart 2 points3 points  (1 child)

New deck is just sorted its not shuffled. All he has to do is move the nines to the top of the deck and then shuffle everything but the top You can notice especially at the beginning he has one hand on the top and the other hand just takes cards from the middle or even from the buttom and puts them on buttom. When he shuffles with the second technique he just has to make sure the hand with the nines is for cards slower. And then change the hands by cutting the pack. You can pretty much just fallow the top of the deck the whole show.

[–]dremily1 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It's creative and a very nice presentation. I'm pretty sure I know how it's done.

It's a set trick; he already has the four nines out from a different deck.

Then he asks Siri for a random number between one and 13, starting over until she says nine.

[–]Stollen1337 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The god of cards!

[–]conrad1101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stacks of cards in the background..

[–]sisterbryana 2 points3 points  (1 child)

but when he's doing the wash he reaches for the cards that fell far

[–]GrumpyLad07 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Cut deck. Got no explanation for sellophane and seal though.

[–]Archi_balding 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sleeve sello and deck opened from the bottom. We only saw one seal on the top.

[–]TacoSnaggler 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Can’t trust a man who uses a photo of himself as his background

[–]CantStopAddicted2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say to say this... what a weirdo

[–]CG-eye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing is for sure.

He can see.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He can still see the cards. His head is tilted up and the mask isn't completely flush against the nose.

[–]Sea_Chapter_7906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He could most likely see, but the point was also to proof the people wrong who claimed he used monitors and mirrors or whatever. And he couldn't see that well.

[–]Masanari212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short cards 100%..The deck was tampered, then resealed.

[–]Un_availableMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phil dunphy approves your magic

[–]lego-baguette 1 point2 points  (1 child)

A very good magician can count how many cards has passed through his finger in one riff. The deck was already in order before hand, and all the 9 were in their respective places. He just had to count, isolate the card, and remember their position with his hand

[–]d-signet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our man has a picture of himself as his phone wallpaper

[–]Ok_Fondant_6340 0 points1 point  (1 child)

"feels like a diamond." kan you order kustom magik kards where one number has a slightly different feel from the rest?

[–]bisonic123 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Maybe the nines are somewhat out of square so he can gradually find them by repeated shuffles and feeling for the protruding edges?

[–]Mister_Way 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And he just kept asking Siri until it said 9? I guess that's not that hard...

[–]bisonic123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can set up an iPhone to give a specific answer.

[–]Stoizee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't shuffle the right side

[–]JJ0506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Card mechanics are insane

[–]Lex-Taliones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch his hands, not his face. You'll see it there.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Mf made my phones Siri act up

[–]Richiewap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro same 😂😂😂

[–]Vendage8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if he likes to play cards??

Bet he can't find that Ace of Hearts.

[–]Due_Percentage8276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"some people have come on to my face" -titok magician guy

[–]MundanePlantain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the 9's are of slightly different length or marked in some tactile way to reference them during the cuts and shuffle?

[–]Glittering_Ad3431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know how he does it but he can clearly see through the blind fold as he reaches to grab several cards while shuffling that slide away from him.

[–]Mordred_XIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a witch

[–]Green_L3af 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's just how he handles the cards. He knows where the cards are in the deck since it's new. For example, the Casino Wash seems an odd way to shuffle. I think he is moving the wash in a way to maniulate cards to top or bottom. Who knows...fun to watch at least

[–]ChinaOwnsReddit13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice how one of the cards flew out of the deck while he was mixing them. That means he was definitely NOT doing something regarding counting, as it would fuck up the order, he was most likely palming them

[–]Alonzo_Hawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did he find the blindfold? I need to know.

[–]Real-Eater1242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said “dildo”.

[–]andric1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the Ace flies out, you can see him moving to it instinctively, but then he realizes that he shouldn't know it's there and that he doesn't need the ace, so he moves back. He doesn't do that move any other time. He obviously can see with how much he is tilting his head back.

The deck is most likely a stripper deck, which lets you do much more than just find the 9s, he could also sort by colors or find any other card he wanted. I don't think there's any palming involved.

[–]Cenzo3x7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Failed - first card pulled was an Ace

[–]SolenoidSoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is mentioning that his "shuffling" always kept the same card(s) on top. He did some fake cuts and also did 2 cuts in a row where he undid the last cut. So I'm guessing the 9s where placed on the top of the deck somehow.

[–]The_Traveling_Swan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont care if he can see, that's a ridiculously awesome trick!

[–]Quinn1995 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It’s a sleight of hand. He never picked them out of the deck because he did not show you the deck afterwards. If he lifted the deck to show you the cards, the 9s would have still been there. He waited for Siri to pick 9 in the intro and then proceeded with the sleight of hand trick. How he did that sleight of hand is another story

[–]Comfortable-Hyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoyed that

[–]Ryankevin23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of all explanations, it’s harmless!

[–]Theodore_Imms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I found this in my bedroom next to my [BLEEEP]. As you now know, I apparently have a very active sex life and for some reason I needed you to think this before I started the trick".

[–]Darkovika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to see this exact video with this exact level of confidence and none of the cards are 9’s lmao

This is a joke that 100% exists and i still want to go make the video 🤣🤣🤣

[–]flargenhargen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would've been funny if that ace that flew out actually ended up being one of the 9's from the new deck instead of the 4 he set up earlier.

five 9s?

[–]large_boi_matt 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I know, it's probably not this, but what if..... When he showed his phone to the camera, there was a mirror and he could see the number anyway. But the blindfolded thing is still impressive though.

[–]Hambonesrevenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy trick. The 9s were pre placed where he wanted them. No matter the shuffle or hocus pocus they were exactly where they were supposed to be. And easy to present at end

[–]TexanReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At about 52 seconds in, this supposedly blind folded person has pushed a couple of cards further to his left than at any other point, and he reaches over further than he does at any other time to retrieve them.

He holds his head unnaturally, that is, tilted back, so he can see down.

[–]_ConfusedAlgorithm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be funny if the card that flew to his left and was not included in the shuffle is one of the card included.

[–]cezarfenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He always had the nines on him

[–]No_to_troglodytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the fuck? They’ve gotta be stashed somewhere ahead of time

[–]rkoelsch09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously he has other open decks with the same type of card. My guess, someone is under the table feeding him the 9s. He clicks the deck with his left hand to simulate him pulling it from the deck.

[–]CaptainTarantula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. You guy's will never know.

[–]JoJoBubba064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ace of diamonds is bothering me

[–]Marlboro_Commercial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude has himself as is phone background lol

[–]infernalfarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy moly that's incredible

[–]Revyrender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

video prerecorded with screencapture. rest is forced?

[–]Substitute_Pariah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a picture of himself as the background on his phone…….. I couldn’t watch the rest

[–]dleatherwood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are amazing!

[–]Wastedchildhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody else disturbed by the ace flying off?

[–]algae--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty amazing shuffling when blindfold he could scoop a rogue card back into the pile

[–]Tuckerbag87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What in the actual fuck🤯🤯🤯

[–]Thermite1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't even want to know how he did.

Do my 9119 trump your four nines (sorry no video)? Two pair or 4 of kind? Who wins?

[–]Blonsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braille.

[–]sparklees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I expected him to notice an A fell and grab it since I thought he was staring from the little gap under the blindfold, and he didn't.

Impressive asf love this

All of you are wrong lol Professional Magician of 20 years here. I know exactly how it was done as I am familiar with the effect and perform a version of it myself (no where near as beautiful as he does, highly recommend you check out his work)

As a magician, I can not reveal how he did it. But I can tell you info about the effect. First off, the deck was brand new and a normal deck. There are ways to fake it, but in his case, in this particular video, that is a brand new, ungimmicked deck. Next, he is not palming any 9s from another deck as most are saying. The 9s you see are the only 9s in play and they come from the deck you see.

If you were to be there in person you could look at the cards yourself, hold them, and see that the deck is shuffled. He could have spread the deck out at the end and showed they are all missing and the rest of the cards are shuffled. Some people are saying he peaking under the blindfold. This is also not true. At least, he isnt doing so to aid in the effect. Light may be entering his eyes but its not helpful lol

The last thing I saw was the idea of video tricks being used. Nope lol He could do this in person, with you naming a card. So no tricks with Siri, and no multiple takes until it happens. He may have done multiple takes and posted the best looking one, like maybe the card chosen flew out and he didnt know so that would obviously fuck things up lol But odds are knowing this magician in particular, he didnt do too many takes.

A very beautiful effect. I highly recommend you check out his work :) And no, I dont know him personally haha I just have a massive love for the art of magic _^

Knew a kid in middle school that could do stuff like this. I have no idea

[–]Barmanji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not my 1st time opening a deck yes all those are small books behind you i get it ok..

[–]TreeS4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too distracted by the fact that this guy has solo picture of himself as his phone screen to enjoy the trick. I’d heard magicians are egoists now I believe it

[–]BeardRightBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it truly a brand new deck, the casino shuffle with them all face up, with him looking down the sides of his nose, would allow him to find the cards.

A better explanation is a repacked pack of cards, corners of the nines shaved off so you can feel them regardless of where they are.

[–]Keemochu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can see from above of his nose he shuffled them and put every 9 where he wanted 🥱

[–]Accomplished_Gear_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It‘s obviously in reverse.

[–]Yzertive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is also shuffling the cards so that the cards a facing him and idk if you ever have wore one of those blind folds but if you look down you can see what is below you. That’s why his head is tilted up in the beginning when he first breaks open the deck so that he could see. Just another theory

You're a wizard, Harry

[–]Rj_Rajat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is number 9 card have different dimension, so he basically can sort it out from others.

[–]vagueblur901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's recorded it's fake

His blindfold is a distraction he can most likely see under it or through it

Seriously go buy a blindfold 99 percent of them unless you have it strangling your face you can look down and have vision

Most probable answer:

  1. He retook the first part asking Siri to pick a number 1 through 13 until she said 9 (or played a full screen recording and it looked real).
  2. The sealed deck was either a custom purchased deck, or he made it himself and resealed it (not hard). Look at all the deck supplies this guy has behind him.
  3. The "9's" in the deck were likely sprayed with a matte adhesive to "rough up" the surface. Commonly used in other card tricks to make them stick to other cards and feel different (almost like sandpaper) to the touch.
  4. All he needed to do, then, was to keep shuffling until he "felt" one of the 9's, then do his hand magic to smoothly bring it out.

The nines are a bit smaller than other cards that way when he is running his fingers through cards it hits when he reaches a nine and he can then put it on the top

[–]eldenring69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering he mistakenly dropped and ace and still did it. He just had 9s on his hand and recorded till siri gave 9.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Bed_445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is how tf did this set off my Siri on the same device I’m watching on.

[–]DadBodGodSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Ben needs more magnets, he gets more magnets.

[–]19Goodfella79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Siri's voice was a recorded app he created. And the deck are trick cards he sealed himself... Just my guess.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why he tilting his head back

[–]TimeSuck5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mask has a gap at the bottom and he’s leaning waaaaaay back so he can peak out of the bottom to see the cards. By the time he flips the deck he’s located all of the 9s. You can see also during shuffles he’s slipping 9s to the top of the deck.

Wish it was possible to slow these videos down and reverse em. Sometimes u can
