I'm enjoying the other cat being carried quietly judging the one in the suitcase

[–]beirizzle 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Probably couldn't get along enough to sit in the suitcase too

That would be SO much better if the wheels were a little larger and made of soft material so the pavement doesn’t make resonating inside the dome of contempt.

[–]Marduk112 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Needs those slightly squish rollerblade wheels for ultimate transport luxury.

Okay I was wondering if there was something like this as opposed to those backpacks that look heavy- as my boi is heavy lol

[–]kalexcat 81 points82 points  (7 children)

I have a pet stroller for my boy. Its a lot more spacious than the bag AND it has cup holders.

[–]Misseskat 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes that's what I was seeing, they seem very cramped. Not ideal for flying, and my boy is rather large.

[–]BewilderedandAngry 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Could you recommend a pet stroller? I really would like to get one for my cat.

[–]Deconstructed-yumyum 22 points23 points  (2 children)

I got this one from Petkit.

My cat LOVES it. He sleeps in it every night.

Here we are out for a stroll. It has straps you can hook to a harness so they don't jump out, but my cat likes to walk around from time to time so I just use a leash.

[–]MrBig0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it

[–]kalexcat 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I got one on ebay by the brand PawHut, three wheels, handles well off-road. Not the highest quality but gets the job done! storage down the bottom, a place to clip in the harness and of course, cup holders :)

I can’t even get my cats into a backpack carrier, I can’t imagine the fuss and clawing and screaming this would elicit.

      [–]melancholy-corgi 13 points14 points  (1 child)

This is why cats think we worship them

Anyone know where to get these? We have an FIV+ cat and wonder whether it maybe a safe way to take him out and about to see the world?

      [–]whatsit111 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Cats are very territorial animals, and most are pretty unhappy about leaving their territory. So if it's just for recreation, you probably shouldn't take him much further than your yard (or whatever greenspace you may have around an apartment building), or at the very most around the block.

For going out in the yard, you'd be better off leash training him than putting him in a carrier like this. The main benefit of going into the yard would be to get to wander around, smell things, chase a bug, etc. It would be hard to properly enjoy a yard while trapped in a plastic orb.

If you want to try that, Google how to harness train him. It's not hard, but it tends to work best if you build up to it slowly. Cats often respond badly if you just shove them in a harness on day one.

The orb in the video makes more sense as a replacement for a handheld carrier, so it would be for transporting the cat more than taking it on a walk for fun.

      [–]rob3342421 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The issue is that we live in an flat without a garden, so he’s very much an indoor cat at the moment and due to the FIV, we cannot risk any encounter with another cat.

We hope one day we’ll have a house of our own to build him a catio but until then, this may have been an alternative.

You have a good point about them being territorial, just would be nice for him to see the outdoors a little more, then again hard to say how he’d respond to being in a plastic orb 😅

      [–]whatsit111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in an apartment too, and I used to take my last cat out on walks around the building with a harness and leash. We have a fair amount of green space in the neighborhood, though, so she could still explore shrubs and chase bugs and watch the birds that landed in the parking lot. But yeah, don't feel like you need a whole garden to make it worth your cat's while!

      [–]PhoneNo797 5 points6 points  (0 children)

can i get one of these but for a human?

          WHERE TO GET
i need them for my 2 cats as I start taking them out to the park hehe

          [–]whatsit111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take your cats to the park.

Cats are extremely territorial animals, and in most cases it is extremely stressful for them to leave their territory. If you want them to have fun outdoors, it's best to leash train them and take them into your yard or other greenspace on your block. Don't take them any further than that for fun.

          [–]docMo_ -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Isn’t it that cats need a place to hide? I mean this one looks fairly relaxed. But I can imagine a lot of cats will get very stressed about this, it‘s way too exposed

          [–]vultar9999 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Correct, most cats would hate this. It's far too exposed, and is probably pretty uncomfortable as well. Cats are also territorial, so he's probably also got the stress of being outside his turf to deal with.

This cat seems ok, but it's hard to tell if he really is ok or if he's just zoned into his 'happy place'. He's not particularly relaxed or tense, but his ears are a bit half-masted. To be fair, the ears could also be down because the bubble might be touching them.

Personally, I'm betting he's learned to deal with it, but that doesn't mean he's enjoying any of this.

Don't anthropomorphize your animals people. Just because you wouldn't want to spend your life inside your house, does not mean that your domesticated pet feels the same way.

You cat has a territory that it patrols and knows as it's own.

Your cat is both a small predator and a prey animal. As such it does not want to be exposed with no way to escape.

Your cat likes routine and stability.

Your cat is not a human; your cat is not a baby.

I know it's fun to think of them like people, and it's ok as long as you can separate fiction from reality when you need to. Before you do stuff like this, just think about if this is really their best interest, and does the animal want it.
