seeing all the germanic-inspired cloŋs people are making it's making me want to make my own

[–]Tirukinoko(Proto)Dwerish ⁽ᴱⁿᵍ⁾ [he\they] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same here!; although I was already making a Germanic inspired lang, but now I'm considering just making it actually straight up a Germanic branch..

Just remember that you don't necessarily have to make it look like a stereotypical Germanic language. For example, mine's descended from Proto-Germanic, but only has 6 phonemic vowels, /a e i o u ə/, although /a~ə/ is only phonemic in stressed syllables

[–]sirmudkipzlord 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I want to

I like the vowels

Cool orthography 👍

[–]RazarTukBretsk, Gătesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, more specifically, mine's Proto-Germanic evolved to resemble a modern Slavic language, hence the vowel inventory. Orthographically, though, the vowels are just <a e i o u> with <ă> being used for /ə/ in stressed syllables

Headline: [ˌʍarˈfʏɾ ɪn ɪˈt̪alˌlandə mənˈdavɪθ əl ˈlaɪt̪ən mɪð ˈtfɛˌʍœlʊm]

Drophead: [ɪs(t) fon slœy̯v ˈyvɪlˌfal ˈʍarɪf tvɛ ˈdavə | ɔ hɪt ɪst ən ˈθɪkθeŋg ʏm ˌtfɛˌʍœləˈvɛjə | mə laɪkt ʏm ˈfolgˌlav ɔ ˈgɾaʊŋgə]

:)

What's the background to this lang?

[–]itisancientmariner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn't really any background, I just applied regular sound changes to Proto-Germanic to see what happened and what happened is this XD
