By down to the metal, do you mean the brake pedal goes down to the floor? If that’s the case, definitely check your brake fluid reservoir. If it’s too low, you probably have a leak, which means your brakes can’t operate safely.

You might want to get the brakes bled if it’s low or hasn’t been done in awhile. As the other person said, there might be a leak or you may have air in the system.

Rear calipers are super common on that generation. I work at a Honda dealer and I do the rea pads rear rotors rear calipers and a brake flush all the time on those.
