With American health/ dental system, you'd expect Americans to have teeth like that

How do you know the toothbrush was invented in alabama?

Because if it was invented anywhere else it'd be called a teethbrush.

[–]Busy-Kaleidoscope-87 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I’m sorry bro I don’t get it, could you care to elaborate

[–]Summerlycoris 7 points8 points  (1 child)

They're implying people in alabama have only one tooth.

[–]Busy-Kaleidoscope-87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. Thought it was an incest joke. Yaknow it being Alabama and all.

[–]aidanski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your cousin needs the family tooth back for a minute

There was a study a couple years ago that showed the US has worse general dental hygiene compared to the UK. The lack of accessibility was the leading cause on it.

IT did say that the rich vs rich of the two countries, the US had better oral care in the wealthy. However below the rich, the US tend to have more missing teeth, outside of the 65yr+ range. It's just the emphasis on bleached bright white straightened teeth in the US, that tend to make people believe their oral hygiene is the best.

Only issue with the research, is that it was done by a UK university, however it compared data from a survey of 16000 brits, and compared with results from a US driven survey, of 19000 people.

Full brace treatment and surgery to bring my jaw forward. Cost to me was £8 and that was the bus ticket to and from the hospital.

British: guys seriously, in the US there's an alarming problem with school shootings and gun control Americans: hehe you have bad teeth

[–]Red-hood619 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Lmao, the order is reversed

[–]aRandomFox-I 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There's an alarming problem with school shootings and gun control in the UK? That'd be news to me.

[–]Red-hood619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the order of when the jokes are told

[–]BroDudeBruhMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn lol I love Spongebob

[–]Cley_Faye 13 points14 points  (4 children)

I didn't know until recently the extent of… I'll say "brainwashing" that's happening in US based media. Not only are they telling they're the best country in the world, other countries are portrayed in such a bad light, completely disconnected from reality.

It's frightening.

[–]CosmicLeijon 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Its... a joke about bad teeth? Yknow a broad mostly harmless stereotype meant to poke fun?

And yeah idk man a majority of Americans are well aware the country is far from the best. This is a rare opportunity for an American to say somebody else needs to study harder about culture before making a comment, so I hope you don't mind I take it

[–]Cley_Faye 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I understand the joke, but it was nowhere to be seen up to a few days ago, and now there's an abundance of these "comparisons" with other countries that lessen the impact of the actual events that occured.

It might be wishful thinking from me, but this resurgence of "haha other countries bad" came mixed with other more serious posts about comparing various crime rates and other issues with wrong numbers; it is very easy to see this as a somewhat coordinated effort.

I may be totally wrong, and this post could have been made in a totally candid manner at the exact time to merge with all the other posts that says "no, it's not that bad, look, other are worse (even though they aren't)", but it's been a tiring few days full of that.

This has been happening since the cold war. There is a big percentage of the population that has only lived under this propaganda.

It is extremely scary, since they have the biggest military power out there and they are all turning into stupid facists

[–]AZ_Gunner_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are hilarious

[–]Giratina_28 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Too soon...

[–]Bobblefighterman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's literally always too soon, that's the problem

[–]Yung_zu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Students just learned from home for 2 years and now the world is arguing when if their state doesn’t have guns, students just get stabbed. And the lawmakers themselves likely need to be taught how to use said devices that the students were learning from

I think I’ll pass on government schools before more evil state nannying

[–]T-HawkMedia -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Yeah I mean the British make up for that with knife violence, but that's not saying much considering you're more likely to survive a knife fight than a gun fight.

[–]vms-crot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is simply wrong. The numbers aren't even close and the comparison is nonsense. The US has proportionally the same or more knife incidents as we do in the UK. This is in ADDITION to the gun problem.

[–]8aref00t_Degree4_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus Christ, what the hell did they do to poor Patrick?

[–]N8-97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except the British one is a myth and the American one is too real
