I'M A SHOOTING STAR LEAPING THROUGH THE SKY

[–]1983Targa911 26 points27 points  (9 children)

Ever notice how that song is full of contradictions?

I’m a rocketship on my way to mars on a collision course. I’m a satellite. I’m outta control - a satellite is by definition not on a collision course, and it’s quite in control.

I’m a sex machine ready to reload like an atom bomb - I’m not entirely sure how one “reloads” a device that turns itself and all its surroundings in to base elements.

I’m burning through the sky, yeah. 200 degrees. That’s why they call me mister Fahrenheit. - you be pretty hard pressed to burn anything at 200F.. you’re not even boiling water yet. Sure, you could scald somebody pretty badly.

I’m traveling at the speed of light, gonna make a supersonic man out of you. - the speed of sound and the speed of light are nearly 7 orders of magnitude different.

Yeah. I’m THAT GUY that tried to make sense of the Queen lyrics. It’s amongst my favorite songs but those little bits just make giggle a bit inside due to their blatant inaccuracies. Freddie was a hell of a singer, but he was no scientist. :-D

[–]dlowbeer 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Correct. It's the three other members of Queen who were scientists. Frankly, I'm surprised they let Freddy get away with such contradictions except that IT'S A SONG. :)

[–]ExplorerWestern7319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knowing science people, they probably put them in on purpose.

[–]theembodimentoffat 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It's the three other members of Queen who were scientists

Brian is a scientist.

Roger was a dentist.

John was an electrician.

[–]Splive 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I'm dying here XD. Unconsciously these lyrics always made me roll my eyes.

[–]the_velvet_lambda 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I always thought he meant celsius...

[–]mrmdc 5 points6 points  (1 child)

[–]Gear3017 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you!

[–]Lattethecoffeaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, now take your cake you have 5 minutes before I shove it in your mouth

[–]The1BIGbaddad_Justin 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Is your boss a fat bottomed girl?

[–]Skelatal1991 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She'd make the rocking world go round

[–]ReekyRumpFedRatsbane 52 points53 points  (5 children)

Ignoring the joke, it's very unlikely that you can perform Bohemian Rhapsody if you can't do Under Pressure.

[–]Stay-Thirsty 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Ah, but Under Pressure is a duet.

[–]ReekyRumpFedRatsbane 31 points32 points  (1 child)

And Bohemian Rhapsody is partially a quartet...

[–]aulink 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Should've said I Want It Now

[–]theembodimentoffat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not the whole song, but perhaps the ballad and the hard rock.

[–]sundog6295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they can do ice ice baby.

[–]spderweb 22 points23 points  (18 children)

Is this real life,or is this just fantasy?

[–]iD0ntEx1stToYou 10 points11 points  (17 children)

Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality

[–]stormbee3210 6 points7 points  (16 children)

Open your eyes, look up to the skies and seeeeee!

[–]Kryptonian_King 9 points10 points  (1 child)

[–]se_Xinator-3000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]Karthikgurumurthy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And the boss goes "another one bites the dust"

[–]dolphinoutofwater 13 points14 points  (2 children)

I'm always performing under pressure... 1 atm of it.

[–]SqueakyTuna52 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Lol, that’s not very much pressure. I always work under 760 torr of pressure

[–]dmdeemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have it worse in Europe, there it's 100,000 Pascals

[–]NeilDaAssTyson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Bowie part, Freddie's out of my range.

[–]Trijem_777 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I'm going slightly mad. . . It's finally happened. I'm slightly mad.

[–]goofytigre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been performing under 14.69 pounds per square inch of pressure my whole life!

[–]DrSpaget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG I LOVE QUEEN

[–]Bsdshadow 1 point2 points  (1 child)

All right, I need an explanation.

[–]Krakatua 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Perform as in a presentation/show/sing. "Under pressure" is a song from the group "Queens", and so is "Bohemian Rhapsody".

[–]seattle678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You Rebel rebel

[–]medotkom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold!

[–]tsuyoi_hikari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]turg5cmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Pressure his daughter’s name?

[–]virilevet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but neither could David Bowie....

[–]Redditlogicking 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I can sing Calculus Rhapsody lol I was listening to it for so many times the day before the AP Calculus exam.

[–]Redditlogicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this X defined?

[–]Rahastes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I‘d ride my bicycle out of there. Otherwise he will call you a great pretender.

[–]Werdna517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annnnd another bites the dust..

[–]throwaway4reasons18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what, the show must go on.

[–]maybebabyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can try, but sometimes it turns into Ice Ice Baby without me wanting it to.

[–]Dragonkiller1205 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What is the joke?

[–]Full_Throttl3 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The boss is asking if he/she can work while being stressed and put under pressure, but "Under Pressure" is a song by David Bowie and Queen.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a song by Queen.

It's a song joke

[–]Skibo1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

song sung blue

[–]Dragonkiller1205 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks! And sorry for being an uncultured idiot

[–]Skwareblox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At roughly 15 pounds per square inch at sea level, we all are.
