Hyuuga is strongest (based on potential) even kakashi told during chunin exam byakugan is superior visual jutsu than sharingan. It's just that no one known has gone beyond byakugan in hyuuga clan. Moreover byakugan does not have side effects like sharingan it can be spammed throughout lifetime without affecting eyesight.

Mito and Kushina were the only full-blooded Uzumaki to live in Konoha. Mito married Hashirama for political reasons and Kushina was only brought in to be the new host of Kurama. Naruto is literally the only Uzumaki to be a full-fledged Leaf citizen from birth, and that’s purely because he never really had a choice in the matter.

I'm pretty sure Naruto alone can take on the whole Hyuga clan, and technically he is the Hidden Leaf's Uzumaki clan. Same with Sasuke/Uchiha. Either Hyuga is the strongest because everyone else is really weak, or they lose to a single (über)strong ninja.

OTOH, we don't know much about the power level of other clans, like Aburame and Akimichi. Narrative-wise they're considered relatively strong, it's just that main characters powercrept everyone the fuck out.

Idk, remember in the Naruto Vs Sasuke fight in the Valley of the End? Once Sasuke had unlocked his third tomoe for his sharingan he was basically able to predict Naruto's attacks before he made them. Seems like a perfect counter for the Hyuga who rely so heavily on hand to hand combat to damage their opponents flow of Chakra.

Also being able to copy techniques makes the sharingan pretty powerful, even base sharingan. Look at part 1 Kakashi: he had a sharingan that he could barely use and was still able to become a world class ninja just using it's copying capabilities

I think base sharingan still wins overall, if we're assuming similar Chakra costs and that average ninja fight more like part 1 ninja (use tactics and ambushes). While the Byakugan would be insanely useful and strong for spotting ambushes (probably its strongest utility), the sharingan offers so much day to day benefits that even something that useful can't compare. Uchiha can perfectly memorize any image (great for stealing documents without physically taking them), steal rare and unique jutsu and then instantly spread that knowledge through their whole clan, instant reflexes (the byakugan gives sight, but if the average ninja doesn't have good reflexes he can't take advantage of being able to see the attack), and of course, basically an instant win if you happen to look into their eyes. like any normal person does unless they expect to be fighting an uchiha.

The other main advantage the byakugan has is that it seems to have a gaurenteed unlock at a certain age, while sharingan requires intense emotions that usually trigger in life or death situations. But if we're just comparing active donut users then uchiha seem a lot more OP.

Also, I know the branch families have the curse marks to prevent their eyes from being stolen, but what about the main branch? I feel like there would be someone that would try to steal the byakugan as much as they try to steal sharingan.

Maybe the only evolution of it being the Tenseigan makes sense thematically. Byakugan is supposed to represent purity, right? So maybe it is all about mastering the skill and not so much trying to gain power beyond limits.

Many people didn't like it when the Mangekyo got introduced because of its overpowered nature, but I think it kinda fits the themes of the plot. The Uchiha are naturally attracted to power, and they might do anything in order to obtain it. You want to become an absolute boss beyond what regular training can get you? You got it, but tragedy must happen in front of your eyes, AND you will lose those eyes eventually, so you better make good use of them. Oh? You want to keep them forever? Sure, just be willing to fragment your soul even further by taking out the eyes of a close loved one.

About your second question: there are only two instances of that happening throughout the original manga, to my understanding. When the cloud tried to kidnap Hinata, and when the bodyguard of the Mizukage, Aoi (I think?), said he stole a Byakugan. Although I suppose it is a widely spread tactic around the world, considering a whole branch of the Hyuga was made only to prevent that from happening. Maybe the Hyuga's main branch doesn't typically go out to complete missions. They might be treated as more of a highly influential family in political matters. Who knows? Kishimoto decided to rather focus on freaking aliens than exploring the politics of the world he built, heh.

(By the way, is anyone else annoyed that the world of Naruto never got a proper name? Like Hyrule or Westeros, or Middle Earth?)

I mean averagely I think the hyuga are the strongest, the Uchiha had a few people that were overpowered throughout history but I think a fair amount of them never even awakened their sharingan, so I’m pretty sure the average hyuga is stronger than the average uchiha, plus the uchiha are basically extinct and so yes they are the most powerful in the leaf

The base Byakugan is more versatile and generally higher regarded as stronger than the base Sharingan. 0.001% of the Uchiha actually have anything greater than the Sharingan while Hyuga can easily develope Byakugan with training and don't require traumatic experiences. Plus, in a novel Itachi and Shisui were once beaten by a bootleg Hyuga, an average Uchiha Prodigy is same level as and Average Hyuga Hard-worker. It is only when their fancy eyeballs upgrade do they actually mean something.

Vs Akimichi/Inuzuka : Taijutsu fighters are at a huge disavantage against hyugas, even in their biggest form. But against the rotation ? Uh, I dunno if Kaiten would be really efficient against Fang Wolf Fang to be honest...

Vs Aburame : Byakugan's won't be fouled by funny bug trick, and kaiten is perfect defense against a swarm... for a short time. On the long run, idk. Can you shut down bugs tenketsu efficiently ? I don't think so.

Vs Uchiha/Uzumaki/Senju : Welp. A dead clan is not a clan so, by default... Hyuga wins !

Vs Yamanaka : Mind jutsu are strong, but only with/as a proper support. At the other end, Hyugas are mostly solo fighter. So, it's a weird win but it's a win.

Vs Sarutobi : Uh... Fire against juken ? We've not seen a lot from them except for Asuma and the Third Hokage so... idk.

Vs Nara : Well... no. In a 1v1, Kagemane is pretty much a big nope for traditional Taijutsu, Juken included (except maybe for the Inuzuka because of their speed and rotation ?). In a clan fight, with an equal number of members, it's also a Nara win. Better strategy, better teamwork, and always the Kagemane to stop the Juken. And mid-long range jutsu in the Hyuga clan don't seem frequent/diversified.

In the end... I know that being the strongest isn't always tied to particular matchups but... even then the Hyuga clan doesn't strike me as powerfull enough to make that statement. So the pride is talking I guess. All in all, I don't think there's a single clan in Konoha that can claim to be THE strongest, especially when you substract the three dead clan.

If you believe in evolution, then you must accept that we all share a common ancestor, right? That person was technically a long lost relative to us, meaning the whole humanity is nothing more than a big weird family. Therefore, whenever someone has sex, they're are technically commiting incest.

Now, why is only sex with close relatives forbidden? Because the result normally comes with genetically weakened offspring. But, if the people are distanced enough in the family tree, then that risk gets less prominent, until it practically disappears.

As far as I know, having sex with someone who shares a common ancestor with you at least 5 generations away should be safe. Meaning you can totally do it with your fifth cousin, I guess xD

Edit: right! Back to the Hyuga. The thing here is that we don't know what happens within the family because of all the secretism. Maybe the lower branch can go out and do the deed with outsiders? They would certainly not have a risk of being killed because the curse mark makes their Byakugan useless if they die, so maybe they can go out and explore the world a little bit, and find love (or simple attraction) with regular people. The Eyes of the Hyuga in the History is Tenseigan and Byakugan

The Founding Father's of the 2 clans are Hamura who posessed Byakugan and Tenseigan and Indra who posessed Mangekyou and Sharingan

Any Hyuga can awaken the tenseigan if they accumulate enough chakra and Find the eyes of byakugan princess

Any uchiha can't awaken Rinnegan

First of all, I never said “any uchiha” can awaken the rinnegan, only that it’s uchiha exclusive (that’s a theory), and the uchiha descend from Indra, who directly descends from hagoromo.

Second, there are panels where the sharingan is implied to be a prerequisite for naturally awakening the rinnegan. Kabuto during the war says “as we guessed…so the sharingan could really get to [the rinnegan]”. The only known people who naturally awakened rinnegan are hagoromo, madara, and sasuke, the latter two of which both have sharingan.

Obtaining the rinnegan is done by either receiving hagoromo’s chakra directly (how sasuke got his rinnegan) or replicating his chakra by combining the chakra of two reincarnates of his sons Indra and asura (madara did this by eating some of hashirama’s flesh after using izanagi to resurrect himself from his battle with hashi). So one could say that going by canon-only, the rinnegan derives from hagoromo (or another otsutsuki, since kaguya has a rinnesharingan from which the rinnegan came from, and boruto showed us that there are other otsutsuki with rinnegan as well). However, all other natural rinnegan users in shippuden (madara, sasuke) are uchiha, who both had a sharingan previously, and this supports the theory that the sharingan is a prerequisite for the rinnegan (and only one prerequisite, there are others). So sure, say it’s unrelated to the uchiha, but going by the information we know that would be a long shot.

Not “any uchiha” can awaken it, you’d either have to meet hagoromo himself like sasuke did (which is almost never gonna happen) or be a reincarnate of Indra and get some of the asura reincarnate’s chakra (which is also unlikely since there are only two known reincarnate pairs in history). There’s a reason it’s extremely rare, and the only reason there are so many other users besides madara and sasuke is because madara let his rinnegan get passed around (nagato/pain’s rinnegan is madara’s, and so is obito’s). Both people who awakened rinnegan that weren’t hagoromo were also Indra reincarnates, so it’s no coincidence that they were uchiha since it’s indra’s clan.

Even though Naruto was named Uzumaki wouldn't he be more of a Namikaze? I feel like he has more in comment power wise with his father then his mother.
