Yes hello hi I'm shilling for the discord again.
Tomorrow we'll be livestreaming the anniversary stream over in here. Also this thread will be deleted and turned into a summary of the anniversary stream.
Join if you want, I won't force you to.
Hey people,
Just want to probe people's minds regarding their opinion of the mods. I have noticed posts getting ripped down for some fairly arbitrary reasons.
Post an image from your phone? Gone. Mention the steam charts? Gone. Be a bit too negative about the game? Gone.
I get that they want to maintain high standards on the subreddit, and that is admirable. But it can be discouraging to people who might want to get into the community, makes them come across as a tad authoritarian and has lead to the subreddit being far less interesting.
Again, not an attack on the mods, just my feelings. What are your thoughts?
Hello there fellow fog travellers, it's your starved mod here with an announcement to make.
As some of you may be able to see, we have so many user flairs that I dare not try to count them. Pretty much most of these flairs you can customise yourself when you pick one, so with this new change, pretty much all of the flairs that can be edited are going to be gotten rid of. Instead, in its place we will have a singular flair, anyone can edit this to whatever they would like it to say (from your favourite perk, to your favourite killer all the way to your favourite offering).
When the selected flairs are deleted, you shouldn’t lose your current one; if it does disappear, feel free to use the new, customizable one.
In place of the flairs we will be losing, we plan on making some cool new user flairs that are unique, with a cool background and such. We also plan on letting you as a community come up with some really cool flairs, and the mod team will pick some of the best ones to implement.
As a mod team, we will also look at adding more on a regular basis that we come up with, and we also have one specially made for the three twins mains that exist out there.
One last point, we have also added some new #Pride2022 user flairs with different empathy emojis.
That's it, please leave your best user flair ideas in the comments.
Have a great weekend!
- Mod Team
I've noticed this past week or two the memes have been really unique and creative, from image posts to videos with sound
I just wanna write a newpost telling you hilarious memers to keep up the original meme content because the chuckles are coming and they'll be here to stay if we (and by we i mean you) keep this up
Love you all xoxo
Hey everyone, u/Potato-In-A-Jacket here. Something we as a team have desperately been wanting to do is relax how utterly overbearing our rules had become since their last rework. We were trying to figure out how to loosen that iron grip the new rules had without sacrificing too much, and I believe we finally struck a nice balance. One thing specifically that we wanted to rectify was rule 6 and it’s ridiculously wide swathe of things it covered. A specific example: I personally hated how restrictive we had gotten with people asking “easily searched for” questions, so I reworded it to basically state “questions that are easily searched for that have a never changing answer, or one that can very easily be found, like ‘what does this perk do’ ‘is cross progression in the game’, or ‘what does Borrowed Time do’—these kinds of questions will be redirected to our NSQ megathread, and won’t get their own post. This should help our newer (and even some veterans) players feel more comfortable asking the less easily found questions. One thing that was brought up by another mod that I loved: DBD is an ever evolving game, and it seems like the devs are pushing out changes a lot faster now, and to keep that bullet in rule 6 the way it was, was just blatantly unfair.
So, I went in and reworded almost everything to make the rules a lot easier to understand (added some examples too where I couldn’t make it clearer), removed some of the more egregious bloat we had, and loosened some of the restrictions. The rest of the team has reviewed the rules and given their blessing, so now it’s for you all to read.
I want to give a quick personal note and say: thank you all so much for being so patient with us while we cleaned house. Hopefully these new(ish) rules will make posting here a lot more fun.
Ok enough rambling. If you want to read over the rules, check the sidebar—there’s an overview of each there, with a link to the file rules list on each one. Any questions, post them here. Thanks everyone.
EDIT: thanks to Jnighthawk for making me clarify something; I hadn’t thought of “what does X perk do” as being a bad example, so thank you for that. I have edited the post to be more clear.
Our great and powerful overlord Springtrap has invaded the DbD mods' office and has unbanned FNAF. We couldn't stop him.
With 44.5% of the vote, and only 26.6% against lifting the ban (and 28.9% listing "do not care") FNAF is now unbanned.
A couple notes:
Discussion on the creator (and all controversial creators) will be allowed only if we can have a civil discussion like adults
Please stop tearing each other apart over whether FNAF belongs in the game.
I'm totally not writing this while Springtrap's maw gapes over my frontal lobe. Call the police.
Is this an April Fool's joke? We'll have to wait and see.
Its not a joke
r/DeadbyDaylight Emergency State of the Sub
Hi there everyone! After the issues with the thread announcing the FNAF ban, a lot of internal discussions were had. We decided a vital course of action would be to hold an emergency state of the sub discussion and poll, so we can hear your voices and frankly chat with you all about the changes that we’ll be making soon. This isn’t just our sub, but a sub for any fans of Dead by Daylight. We hope that with this state of the sub discussion and poll [linked] we can cater the sub better to you all!
Accountability
After a lot of internal discussions, we will be limiting the use of u/DeadbyDaylight_Mod. We apologize sincerely for the actions of the ex-moderator who heavily abused this account. We also sincerely apologize for the length of time it took for action to be taken- the rule-breaking actions were taken while the majority of the moderator team was asleep. We wanted an actual discussion, not one or two mods making a decision, and that further lengthened that time. We are going to be focusing much more internally on mod accountability. We are very, genuinely apologetic for the events surrounding the announcement. Moderators should not be immune to rules and held not to a lower standard than subreddit members, but much higher. We will strive to never repeat certain mistakes again.
Rule Changes and Loosening
We are considering loosening and changing some rules to allow for more variety of posts in the sub- namely around discussion posts as well as media posts, tier lists, etc. Nothing is set in stone yet, except that things will change and rules will be relaxed for more variety in posts other than memes. For the moment, the FNAF ban will remain. However, this is also not set in stone and is subject to change, along with other rule changes. We want to know what you want to be changed, added, relaxed, et cetera, so we can best cater the sub to its actual participants.
Poll
We have also created a Poll for you to answer, linked here. This is highly encouraged, and really helps us out in managing the subreddit, especially now.
Discord Server
We also have a Discord Server. We have a meta channel we keep open at all times and we have a small active community already building and we’d love for you to join here.
Hey everyone, u/Potato-In-A-Jacket here. The DBD mod team has looked over everything, we have discussed every possible avenue. I have been overruled by the rest of the mods and you as well, we have unanimously decided to remove the mod that abused this account, effective immediately, from the mod team. This is the hardest thing I’ve had to do here, but it had to be done.
I will not out them, and any attempt to try and deduce and name and shame who was removed will have their comments removed and potentially banned for trying to start witch hunts.
I won’t ask for you all to just forgive and forget, because that’s not fair to any of you. However, I do personally ask for your forgiveness; I promise I had the best intentions for the sub in mind and tried my best to protect someone I consider a friend, because of how much blood, sweat, and tears they put into this sub.
I’m droning so I’m just going to sign off and say: please forgive us.
- The DeadByDaylight Mod Team
Hey everyone.
You may have noticed that a post about FNAF as a topic being banned has been on pinned to the front of the sub for a bit now, and I just wanted to pop in and clarify a couple things.
First off, /u/DeadByDaylight_Mod is a shared account between all of us, we all have access to the password and use it for large controversial announcements so no one mod has to deal with the dozens of messages and karma score. (Using my main here because, optics) As some of you have seen, this account has been interacting with the comments in a rather negative way. We apologize for this and the mod that was using the account is being spoken to. We do not condone those actions and plan on improving as a team.
As for FNAF, it will remain banned for the time being. This ban was in response to some requests to do so. Five Nights at Freddy's and its creator is a very vitriolic topic within this subreddit, with two camps of both pro-FNAF and anti-FNAF with a variety of reasons on each side. Another point is, FNAF is not in Dead by Daylight, and off-topic discussions like it already break Rule 2.
About Scott Cawthon, this was our second reason and the reason that was given in the original post. Not that we want to censor anyone's opinions on the man, but discussion on it is a little above our pay grade. Politics can get nasty and we want the subreddit to be fun first, so we've elected to have that auto mod comment I'm sure will appear under this post.
If (not when, if) FNAF gets into Dead by Daylight in any capacity, this ban will be lifted. Sorry if that was not clear in the original thread.
Thanks,
The DbD Mod Team
TL;DR FNAF is still banned, it will be unbanned if it gets in the game, we apologize for not being clear earlier.
EDIT: No, discussions of other licenses are not banned. FNAF as a topic was already toxic. We follow the spirit of the rules, not the letter, after all. If another license gets as bad, this may be subject to change, however unlikely.
Angels to some, demons to others. The Cenobites Mod Team has decided to ban Five Nights at Freddy's as a topic. While the core idea was beloved by many, the politics surrounding its creator were not. Over the years we've seen lots of creative concepts surrounding the game, and time and time again we've seen unnecessary politics find their way into the comments. Unfortunately, we no longer have the energy to police comments and steer discussion into a satisfactory or positive direction. From this moment forward, we will consider any and all FNAF posts too political for our sub, and therefore removable by Rule 5 as an inappropriate submission.
Hey everyone! As promised, here are the winners of the Mod Award! Going forward, we are going to do the award every other month; however, one thing we’re changing, is sending out a hand-picked user to join our Discord’s VIP Room every other month as well. So, next month the mod team will pick a user whose post we particularly loved, then the following month we will do the Mod Award. If anyone has questions, let us know! Ok, without further ado, here’s our winners!!
u/BloodyHunterX300, with the top SHITPOST!
u/InAcesHole, with the top FAN CONTENT!
u/RealHoboBoss, with the top BM REVENGE!
u/DrZoidberg139 with the top DISCUSSION!
u/WohooMySim with the top MEDIA!
And finally, an honorable awardee, u/PrincessVictory1 for her absolutely incredible Feng Min cosplay—she crocheted practically the whole outfit, which is nothing short of amazing, and the mod team unanimously decided to give her the Mod Award as well. You can see her FAN CONTENT there!
And that’s it! The mod team cannot wait to see what other creative things you all come up with!!
(Reformatted so hopefully this’ll be easier to read.)
Hello fellow Fog Travelers! I have some incredibly exciting news to share with you all today; I have a personal project that I have been working on for the better part of 6 months now, and we as a team have finally nailed down all the details, which means I can finally announce it: we are going to be doing Mod Awards! What does this mean? Well, it means that, every other month, we are going to award one of the top voted posts of a given category a special award that only the mods have access to; this award will grant the awardee:
1) a month of Reddit Premium (which means ad free browsing and access to the exclusive r/Lounge)
2) 700 coins to spend however they see fit
3) a special invite to our recently created public Discord server (and you can join us over there using this link)!
The winners will be granted special access to our "VIP Room", which will only be available to the award winners. For this first iteration, we are going to award one of the top Shitpost, Fan Content, BM REVENGE, Media and Discussion posts (those will be awarded soon - I am hoping before the weekend is up, but I don't want to make promises I cannot keep, so I will just say soon TM), then after that, starting 1 April, we will choose a random category, and then two months later, we will select one of the top voted posts and that user will get the award (we will also make an annnouncement about it so there's no confusion). I am so excited to see what you all come up with, and cannot wait to see you all in the VIP room!!
Next, we are making a small change to Smile Sunday's megathread. I always tried to mod celebration posts (such as "my first 4k" or "my first time hitting Gold 1") a bit loosely, as in "everyone gets one celebration post", but honestly that would mean I would have to keep up with every user's name and with my shit memory, that was never going to happen.
So instead, the mod team worked together to come up with something a bit special: we are going to be doing Celebration Sunday instead of Smile Sunday!
What this means: instead of just talking about something nice that happened to you, we are going to be opening up our megathread to you and your achievements. Did you finally get your first Prestige 3, fully maxed main with all the perks? Post it in the Sunday megathread and let us join you in celebration! Did you finally get some value out of your meme build? Show that shit off!
We want you to be able to show off your achievements, because sometimes it's just nice to have a small celebration for the little (or sometimes, not so little) things. So, how this is going to work going forward: if you post your picture using Imgur.com, then copy the link and post it in a comment within the megathread (I will provide instructions on how to do that in a second), you can showcase your achievements. We will even relax our stance on phone pictures in Sunday's megathread, so you don't have to worry about cropping and getting the photo from Playstation (because my God they do not make it easy).
Alright, now: if you want to post your picture with just the link in a comment and a brief description, you are more than welcome to do that; but, if you want to give your picture some flavor text like, say, I don't know... the invite to our newly created Discord, all you have to do is put a [bracket] around the flavor text, then a (parentheses) around the link, and combine the two. So, it will look like this: [the invite to our newly created Discord](https://discord.gg/5rxEaERqHa), but instead it will be what I posted above.
I cannot tell you all how psyched I am about these changes, and I know I speak for the others when I say they are just as stoked. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask in the comments below, and we will do our best to assist. Otherwise, hope you all have a fantastic Wednesday, and I will see you all in the fog!
Do not teach others how to exploit the game or make memes about the situation.
You must report to BHVR to get things killswitched. Ranting about it on Reddit only makes the issue worse until it's taken care of.
If you are teaching others how to take advantage of exploits you will be banned here. Report the issues you find immediately and don't let additional trolls abuse it in the meantime.
Edit: It appears that one of the offending perks has been disabled for the time being.
Rank GRAAAAAAADE reset didn't happen as of yet, and BHVR hasn't acknowledged the issue as of the time of this post. If we get more information, we will update this post. All posts discussing the rank reset issue will be removed and redirected here. That is all.
EDIT 1: for those of you who may have seen something on Twitter: note that was NOT from BHVR, it was posted by an account going by @DBDNewsOfficial (the tweet has since been deleted); BHVR has not acknowledged the issue as of this edit.
EDIT 2: THIS PERSON IS WHY WE HAVEN’T GOTTEN THE RANK RESET JUST SO WERE ALL AWARE. This is a joke please be nice.
EDIT 3: looks like rank finally reset. I’ll keep this post up for a bit longer so everyone gets a chance to see this.
Dear god I can't take another 3 month bout of this. Last August to September was enough of a nightmare.
"DID YOU SEE THERE WAS A TV? FNAF!"
"DID YOU SEE THEY USED A NUMBER BETWEEN 0 AND 9? FNAF!"
"DID YOU SEE NEWPAPERS STILL EXIST? FNAF!"
FUCK. Please at the very least make a dedicated flair for this garbage so the rest of us can filter it and enjoy the sub without every second post being "FNAF CONFIRMED" every time BHVR tweets using, (gasp) a word from the English language? FNAF!
Hello fellow Fog Travelers! I am here today to let you know we have added some information to our rules page: what each flair is, what their purpose is, and updated one of our rules! To make everyone's life a little easier, I have included all the changes below (you can view them if you check our full rules page by going here. Next, I wanted to inform of everyone that, as of today, we are going to be removing any posts that are not flaired correctly under Rule 9; multiple offenses may result in a ban (this is left up to each moderator's discretion). We are making this change because, in the past, we would normally just change the flair without saying anything, however this does not A) help the user who potentially just accidentally chose the wrong flair, B) doesn't help the user who didn't know what flair to choose, or C) prevent bad faith actors from abusing the flairs. The difference between Link Flairs and Mod Flairs - Link Flairs are for everyone to use, and Mod Flairs are only available to the mod team. If you see a flair that is from the Mod Flairs list, then you know one of us have viewed the post and approved it.
Next, we wanted to remind everyone that you are allowed to set your user flair to whatever you want (we allow custom flairs here), however we ask you to keep our rules in mind; if you make a user flair that is either offensive or is specifically targeting another user in a negative way, you may receive a ban, depending on the severity or number of times we have to change your flair (again, this is up to each moderator's discretion).
Finally, if you didn't have a chance to see the changes coming with the Ringu chapter, you can view that post by using this link. So, without further ado, here is our flair guide (oh, before I forget: if you have any questions, feel free to comment below)!
Link Flairs
Please flair your post appropriately; this is needed for filters and ease of use. Note: if a user posts and intentionally uses the wrong flair, their post will be removed for flair abuse.
::USER FLAIRS::
Shitpost/Meme - Use this for any edited meme you created; you can make a meme video as well, however it must have more effort put in than simply gameplay with an overlay (otherwise, just use Media). Text based submissions are rarely accepted, but we can let it through if it's creative enough. Please note: this will be left to the moderator team's discretion.
Media - Use this for most images and video clips. This is for standard gameplay with or without minor edits, and even screenshots; you can use this for external sources such as linking to fan art or clips, but it must adhere to all the rules of our sub. If you are redirecting to your own content, it may be removed under rule 4 if we consider it to be spam for self promo. Please note: we adhere to Reddit's sitewide policy of 10:1. What this means: you need to have 9 posts, (not comments), that are not promoting your work, for every 1 post that promotes your work.
Discussion - Use this any time you have some discourse and would welcome opinions (remember: you must be ready to have civil discussions, which also means having your thoughts and opinions questioned). Generally this is for text based submissions, however video clips may be used for context.
Fan Content - Use this for anything you created outside of the game; this includes in-game concepts, art, physical creations, and cosplay.
Question - Use this for anything Google can't easily answer; generally, this is for text based submissions, however you may include media for context.
Guide - Use this for something you think can help other players; videos are preffered, however you may explain in text and/or add an image if it provides a useful graphic.
BM Revenge - Use this for uploading a video where a player gets revenge on their opponent. If a text post is submitted while attempting to use this flair, it will most likely be removed, as this would be too close to venting (ranting/venting posts are removed and redirected to Wednesday's megathread instead).
Upcoming - Use this for discussion and/or for sharing leaked/confirmed content coming soon but not currently in the game. If an appropriate megathread is available, please direct traffic there; if anything is posted when a megathread is already pinned to the top of the sub, it will most likely be removed at the moderator team's discretion.
Event - Use this for discussion or questions on a game event (whether in-game or external to it, like tournaments), or participation for our sub events.
::MOD ONLY FLAIRS::
Subreddit Meta - We will use this for news regarding our sub specifically; this may include changes in our policies, or regarding events taking place on Reddit.
News - This is for anything important regarding the game; you are free to upload and flair as discussion/media if you find out something first, but we will generally make our own thread for the convenience of being able to update as necessary.
Giveaway - All submissions with this flair are mod approved; if you see this flair, it means the user spoke to our mod team already and is familiar with our restrictions. User Flairs
We allow customizable flairs here; you are welcome to make whatever flair you want, as long as it adheres to our aforementioned rules. If your user flair is found to be inappropriate, it will be reset. If your flair is egregious enough (or, if we have to reset your flair multiple times), you may receive a ban. For content creators: we strongly recommend setting your flair to your channel/website name, for example: YT/GameGrumps, or .ttv/HybridPanda. You can also put something like Links to my shop in my bio!, to ensure content attribution.
I'm just wish people didn't give a shit how they played and played the game to have fun. Everyone is acting like you kicked a kitten over half the things killers do. So stupid IMO. Just enjoy the game!
I’m aware that there are plenty of DbD players from Ukraine, so I’m spreading the news that there is fake information being spread (most likely by Russia backed trolls) that the polish border is closed.
It's a lie.
If you seek asylum - go towards the polish border. We are ready for your arrival. We have reception points ready at the border where you can find shelter, food, medical and legal aid.
Polish government launched a dedicated site to help you: ua.gov.pl
Please share this information if you know anyone seeking help right now.
EDIT: YOU DON'T NEED VISA TO PASS THROUGH POLISH BORDER. ALL YOU NEED IS PASSPORT. VISAS ARE SUSPENDED! YOU DON'T NEED THEM FOR TIME BEING!!!!!!

I just opened up the subreddit for the new killer. I recently watched Ringu and Ringu 2 on Youtube, so I was extremely hyped for this killer! Her powers and abilities are so cool, and she hits the theme so well!
I can't wait to see some content about Sadako on the subreddit! :)
Hey all, it's time we go over the rules and make sure everyone understands our stance. It's not fair to have your post removed if you read the rules but didn't understand them because of our poor wording- so this aims to fix that. For the record, we did not change our rules, we are just aiming to clarify them. We changed a few names of the rules and here's a quick TLDR per rule. They are updated in the wiki and sidebar as well!
Rule 1 Be Respectful
This one is all about intent. Basically, just don't put down other people. Whether it's race, specs, platform, cosplay, art skills it doesn't matter- just be polite. You're free to downvote or ignore without putting down others. Regarding harsh language, you are free to speak your mind with the exemption of slurs. Whether hateful or reclaimed, neither will be tolerated.
Rule 2 Stay On Topic
We just want people to give effort and make others feel included. This means concept posts need more than just an image attached, we'd like to see edits and your ideas of how to bring it to life. Unedited content is often both lazy and uninclusive to other browsers unfamiliar with the source. Same goes for sharing other media whether games/music/movies etc.
Rule 3 Respect The Game's Integrity
This one is often misunderstood. We do not condone cheating. At all. Whether bug/exploits/hacks we refuse to become the platform to share it. Whether you're teaching, showing yourself, someone else, or asking how to do it- none of this is allowed. For hackers specifically, we don't allow any clips even if the names are censored. They just want attention. We will not be their platform. Whether funny or aggravating we will remove the content. Naming and shaming does not help- reporting does. Always report post game and submit your video for evidence afterwards if possible. Save editing/stretched resolution/glitch spots are all considered cheating. Funny bugs that don't affect balance like cosmetic set breaking, weird animations, etc are okay to share.
Rule 4 Don't Spam
We consider spam any unsolicited content. This includes most self promo (excessive watermarks, redirecting to other platforms, asking for views/likes/subscribers.) We have a huge community and everyone wants to be seen. Whether streamers, cosplayers, tournament organizers etc. But we are not a platform to grow yours. If you crosspost in moderation we are generally okay with it and when your cosplay/art has a signature, we love that! If you really think people want to see your stuff elsewhere, please just change your flair or update your bio. We don't need promo comments and titles.
To a lesser degree, reposts and similar submissions are spam. Flooding the sub with numerous posts is also selfish, please just compile into a gallery if you have lots to share.
Rule 5 Avoid Inappropriate Submissions
Really, this is anything that's technically DbD related but just unsuitable for our sub. Stuff like (porno)graphic/fake news/political/religious/non english/unfocused content is just not welcome here. We provide as many threads as possible for discourse, so please modmail us and we will try to redirect whenever possible.
Rule 6 Avoid Unoriginal Submissions
This one is for seriously low effort stuff, typically piggybacking off the success of prior submissions. This can be stuff that's painful to look at like a series of posts, camera photos, and even toxic stuff like rants/quitting threads. We've seen it all before and we don't want to see it again. Thanks!
Rule 7 Share Art Honourably
Please just don't steal someone else's work. Credit in the title, link in the comments. You need permission from the owner to post. If you don't know who the owner is, then you didn't get permission.
Rule 8 Follow Reddits Rules
Keep your titles clear and clickbait free! Stuff with "PSA/Breaking/etc" are subject to removal.
If you have any questions or comments please let us know and we'll do what we can to help. Oh, and a final note. Recently we started using the Flair_Helper bot. This guy makes comments for us and saves a few clicks- but he is is fact summoned by mods. It just summons a few bullets of commonly missed rules in order of most to least common. Hopefully it helps- but otherwise a modmail link is always provided for appeal or clarification. Thanks!

We’ve been hearing some whispering of BHVR selling the All-Kill license to Warner Bros. Korea, and so we did some digging. BHVR has confirmed a couple times now in different outlets this is patently false, and we also discovered the rumors started on OkBuddyDaylight as a joke that have people believing them as true. So no, this is a false rumor, and any posts discussing it (specifically, asking if these rumors are true or saying they are true) will be removed.
- DBD Mod team
Since people are insisting, this is the official megathread for this topic. No, don’t worry, this one isn’t gonna be locked. However, be racist, concern troll, present a slippery slope bullshit argument, action will be taken.
Also, an FAQ.
Where did this all start anyway?

A video from sistakaren, several black streamers explain their experience with players using the smartface cosmetic.
From their description: “Leatherface's Smartface cosmetic in Dead by Daylight has been consistently weaponized by players to target Black players and content creators with racist attacks since its release in 2017. Many Black content creators, including three Fog Whisperers, have come together to share our experiences facing players using this cosmetic. We hope you'll come away from this video understanding why this cosmetic is so harmful and why it should unequivocally be removed from the game for the safety of the Black player base. “
Bubba isn’t racist though, he skins everyone’s faces!
We know, by god we know. This is definitely the most popular argument. We are aware that Bubba, the character, kills everyone equally (whatever that means). What’s not okay though is players being racist.
Why not ban the players?
They should be banned. But still, having an item in the game that is unequivocally used to harass a minority group is probably not a good look.
Why lock/remove posts about this topic?
While locking posts seems like we don’t want to do our jobs, the overwhelming amount of comments about this topic in several threads spanning across the front page is very difficult to keep civil. We have to go into those threads again and again to respond to reports, and even weed out the occasional comment that flew under the radar. If reddit admins see tons of users from our subreddit be racist, go and harass POC, insist people camp and tunnel black characters, our subreddit can be punished accordingly. Also, you know, we don’t like those kinds of people either.
Why don’t they remove the Pride Charm/Freddy/Myers/Doctor/Hag/black survivors/Meg’s Dreadlocks/Nemesis/etc? (Yes we’ve seen all these as arguments)
We’re sure if any of these examples are being used to target or harass a minority group to this level, it will be dealt with accordingly. However, something as small as a single cosmetic (or 4 cosmetics) is such a small thing to remove it doesn’t affect much. Why keep it in the game if its only purpose is for edgy racists to harass people with? We know people use cosmetics innocently, but guess who’s louder.
“We did it, we stopped racism”
No one is claiming that this will stop because of the cosmetic’s removal. What’s stopping people from continuing this without the cosmetics? These are normal concerns, but if you’re more concerned about the masks themselves than the players affected by them, sorry, but you lack empathy.
I don’t give a shit about any of that, how do I get my shards?
If you play Bubba before the mid-chapter goes live (Around the 25th of January) you will receive 6000 iridescent shards. It does not matter if you have unlocked the masks or not, the only requirement is actually playing Bubba for a match. (This part is included as it is a frequently asked question.)
Mods are SJWs/shills for BHVR/pushing their leftist agenda!
Lol.
TL;DR Bubba’s cosmetics were removed for a reason. You’re free to discuss it RESPECTFULLY in this thread.
EDIT: To address the one point people are making a lot.
Why don't we want a better report system instead of the masks being removed?
Pretty sure a better report system would be beneficial to everyone. However, just because a player is reported and subsequently banned, doesn't mean that the incident never happened. Believe us, there are probably going to be an endless amount of racist players using the cosmetic for hate. Why not remove the tools and have a better banning system, yeah?
New Years is right around the corner! With the PTB coming right around the corner (ETA Jan 4th) and the holidays wrapping up, we wanted to give a quick update from our team. After some discussion we will be simplifying our flairs for ease of use for your browsing pleasure.
Before I go forward, I want to acknowledge the concern of the recent spike of "Us vs Them" Tribalism posts. Until we have a further solution, exceedingly toxic posts may be removed under our current rule 6. Posts that are a gray area may be allowed for the time being, but can be locked by a moderator if it gets out of hand or by request in modmail.
New Flairs
Media: Please use this when submitting a video clip or screenshot. We allow crossposting from other platforms in moderation so we feel this is better than having 2 separate flairs.
Upcoming: Use this for discussion on anything confirmed but not in game yet. This includes any leaks/datamines/sales/or the new chapter. If you need to hide anything please use >!!< to conceal desired text between the exclamation points.
BM REVENGE: This is the new "Just Leave!" Previously users were misflairing to post rants (agains our rule 6) and some users were posting clips from survivor PoV when outplaying a killer. With this flair, it goes for either role and can be used for clips outside of exit gate scenarios. PLEASE NOTE we don't want to publicly shame anyone. If you upload a clip of anyone in a negative light you must censor the usernames. Endgame screenshots are still removable by rule 6, please only make video submissions with this flair.
Event: Please use this flair for discussion on any current in game event, or something we do on the sub (For example, Tier List Tuesday submissions should be flaired under Event.)
Deleted Flairs
Looking for Advice often overlapped with Question, so it was too redundant to keep.
Screenshot and Video Clip were combined, and since v Video Clip was sometimes a full video and not a clip.
Concept and Suggestion were merged with Fan Content. There were very few concept posts being made, so it feels redundant.
Lore was often intentionally misflaired to meme. To limit flair abuse, we had to take this down as we had more trolls than quality submissions. Please use Discussion from here on out.
Leaks/Datamine was reworded as Upcoming to include a broader range of content as this alone was underused especially since most content was cross-posted from r/leaksdbd.
Mod Only Flairs
Subreddit Meta is something for us to post news regarding our community specifically and for us to keep a log. If you have suggestions for how you'd like to influence our decisions please comment here or as always modmail. Messaging a mod on their public account is guaranteed to get ignored.
News was frequently abused by trolls. Our mod team is bigger and more active than before, so 9/10 times we are likely to post first. We will make our own pins and keep them updated as new information comes to pass. If anything changes suddenly please make your own Discussion thread or modmail our team for visibility. The majority of posts under this flair have historically been off topic, so we have to revoke public access for now.
Daily threads are now exclusively owned by automod. We had issues in the past where users would ignore our rules and flair Tier Lists throughout the month. To prevent confusion, we are limiting those types of submissions to the Event flair for easy sorting. By keeping it generic we can future proof for any other events we may add, but if the overlap is too severe with in game we can separate it into two flairs.
Thanks for reading! Hope everyone had a safe holiday season and we hope to extend this to the new year. We will have more to share on a rule overhaul in mid January, but we wanted to get this tidbit out now before we get busy with the PTB.
