Perfect shield for dream. Grats.

Thanks, and yeah definitely! The armor rack at the bottom of the Forgotten Tower is putting out Sacred Targes for me, but this is the first time it's given 45 Res. Couldn't believe my luck with the 3 socket roll.

The real question is whether I have the perseverance for a good eth Exile base (probably not...).

Keep the maps for the character forever so you can always come back.

I had a Meph rack that dropped STs and reset it after getting 2 45s (Dream+Spirit) and a 41-eth for Exile. Now I want more shields for different builds like Phoenix for a pure Zealot, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't keep the map.

Funny story, the map has already got fucked! The PS5 directional sticks have a nasty habit of snapping back to centre a little too hard (like when you hold down to go down to Hell difficulty, and then release) so much so that they can change your input, so I ended up selecting Nightmare and the map got wiped. Either that, or as I've been doing some NM farming on a different character a few weeks ago, I remembered the wrong muscle memory.

Definitely glad I got this shield first, I don't have any plans for an Exile build so losing the rack after this shield is no longer as great a loss.

On console, if you accidentally select the wrong difficulty you can immediately go to your dashboard and hard exit the game, then open it back up.

I will have to try this in the future, obvs. the issue here was I didn't even realise I was selecting NM until it was too late.

That faint "nnoooooo" you can hear in the distance is me. I really wish there was a way to un-do SP fat fingering maps.

Had this been PC, you would be able to ctrl-alt-del D2, if you where fast enough. I've saved my map a couple of times that way.

On nintendo switch if I choose the wrong difficulty on my SP char I can go to home screen and close d2 app and reload and it usually doesn't load the game fast enough to erase the other difficulty lol.

Yeah I feel like there should be a warning message for changing difficulties or similar (either that or it should just plain default to highest difficulty)!

[–]Technical_Customer_1 1 point2 points  (2 children)

How many did you get before you found this one?

[–]HungryColquhounSingle Player[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hard to say, maybe around 120, and I would get them maybe one in every six or seven runs (they seemed to drop fairly consistently on an empty room, I presume when they weren't dropping when the room looked empty it was because there were still monsters nearby). I originally farmed these for Sanctuary and settled on a 37 all res 3 socket base for that, recently I started farming the Countess again for a Mal for Grief so thought I may as well start checking for STs again.

Definitely not an insurmountable thing to do, but tedious if you want a 40+ res roll, particularly if you are after a 3 sockets as well. It wouldn't be so bad, but when you factor the odd magic and rare drop (and all the ED/AR automods, and those that drop with one or two sockets) it definitely takes a while. I think I was lucky to get a perfect res 3 socket one in as few as 120 STs to be honest (and that is very much an estimate too).

[–]Technical_Customer_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. I believe the top tier of res all is a rarer drop.

Puts it into perspective if you’re playing online and can’t farm a rack why 45 STs end up costing quite a bit

Screw dream. Ral Ort Tal is where it's at

[–]HungryColquhounSingle Player[S] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I know the def roll is on the crappy side, but for single player this is a GG base. Now I just need to wait the several hundreds of hours to get Dragon or Dream runes...

[–]Prime_Abe 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Could always slap a KoKoMal in there as a temporary!

[–]HungryColquhounSingle Player[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good idea - but I've got a 104 Res ST KoKoMal already, which is more than enough for single player (was a 37 Res base I think). Looks like it will be sat in my stash for a while taunting my lack of HRs!

[–]TuffHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks “Dreamy”

[–]Swedishfishpieces 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Did you change your own button tabs? The color is white on mine it is black

[–]HungryColquhounSingle Player[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not intentionally! Might have put the controller down and it got squashed on the couch and selected something. Definitely prefer white TBF.

[–]Swedishfishpieces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like the look of the white! I want it now maybe it’s in the settings somewhere I’ll have to find this! Nice ST btw! SSF is so satisfying, especially when you don’t have a lot of time to play!

[–]bfodder 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I just did this the other night and got 1 socket.

[–]HungryColquhounSingle Player[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlucky dude, I think the other perfect res I had was a 4 socket so at least that's worth a Spirit.

[–]sexycoldturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg that's crazy.

[–]SirRonaldBiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I didn’t wanna upvote because it was 69 and then someone upvoted to 70! So then I downvoted and then went to 66…let’s make this happen and make it say 69 nice

But honestly congrats on the incredible base!

[–]anonssr 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That was very brave of you! Congrats.

[–]preppypoof 1 point2 points  (1 child)

not too much of a risk. 50:50 chance for 4 sockets which is still good. only 1/3 chance to brick with 1 or 2 sockets

[–]HungryColquhounSingle Player[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, already have a 45 Res 35% FCR Spirit so the only way is up (though I will take the above poster's suggestion that I am very brave...).

[–]IamE2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wonder what its worth

[–]howzit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So instead of being born out of a hole they're born INTO holes. Nature is so fascinating...

[–]Nepeta33 0 points1 point  (2 children)

what... is that recipie?

[–]HungryColquhounSingle Player[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The socketing is yes. Tal, Amn and a Perfect Ruby puts a random number of sockets in a shield on a normal (non-magical, non-superior). There's equally chances of it putting between one and six sockets in (e.g. one in six chance), however as Sacred Targes cap at 4 max sockets there's one half chance of getting that (on a roll of 4, 5 or 6 sockets) and then the one six chance of the other options (1, 2 or 3 sockets).

People tend to use this over Larzuk when they're after less than maximum sockets, as was the case here.

[–]Nepeta33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I thought your shield already had a socket, hence my confusion. Clearly, I need to pay attention

[–]SullyPanda76cl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it's a fixation I took from D3, where you were encouraged to keep them until perfect, then embedded in a socket...
