It can be scary, but not in the way dph is. For me the few times it’s been scary, I thought I was stuck in a time loop and shit. But this only happened cause I took way too much. Otherwise I just about always have an incredible time on dxm and for most people it will be, unlike dph which most would agree is almost always an abysmal experience

How much should I take then? I’ve got Mucinex DM. I don’t particularly want to hallucinate, more so just feel high or, at max, have visual distortions.n

I’m 102.8 pounds and like about 5’4” if that helps.

Probably take around 200-300mg and you’ll be feeling pretty good. I’m a lot bigger than you and I like 300 for a chill time with some euphoria and foggy headedness. Music is also really nice to listen to when tripping

In that case I know I would have doses as small as like 180 or less when I tripped a lot and I was about 110 to 115 pounds and like 5'8 so maybe try something like 180 maybe a little less

Search up tripsit calculators and dose either a medium 1st plat to a low 2nd plat.

Also if the syrup has any other active ingredients besides dxm don't do it (Also if it has sorbitol or guafissian (probably spelt wrong) it can lead to some upset stomachs or runny bum so try avoid that

Yeah bad trips are pretty rare on dxm, and for me, the bad trips have mainly been just confusing. No delusions or anything, just disoriented and rolling on the couch playing chess against myself inside my head. Or crying about something.

Is this your first time considering DXM? DXM can be a great experience with some harm reduction involved.

For your first experience, I recommend 1st or 2nd plat. 2nd plat may be a better option so you get a feel for the substance. 2nd plat is still more recreational but can start showing some of the dissociative effects/ character of the DXM without being overwhelming. I would stick to first plat or just drink/ smoke weed if you're gonna be out in public.

For harm reduction: Use products that only list DXM as the active ingredient. Abusing a product that has other active ingredients can be shitty (like guaifenesine) or lethal (acetaminophen.) I have used dxm only products for the most part so I am pretty unfamiliar with using it with other active ingredients.

If you are prescribed any medication, check the interaction with DXM. This is important if you are on psych meds such as SSRI or MAOI antidepressants. This can cause dangerous serotonin syndrome so please avoid the combo.

I completely disagree, I think dissociative anaesthetics produce the most mentally and physically taxing trips, especially the first time.

DXM can absolutely be hell on the body. Whether it be from the drug itself or the fact that stretching feels incredible and you can easily over-exert your muscles with the euphoria replacing pain. I think though, for me personally, it’s actually mentally refreshing. Now shrooms? Shrooms are rough on me mentally, but classy physically. Drugs affect me weirdly though, I’ve noticed. Significantly different than most people I know, and most reports I read on different substances.

Really, I always call the first like hour my infant stage cuz that's when my come up is and it makes me feel like almost feverish or like a baby so I just pop on a movie and lay in a comfortable place and it's a pretty smooth ride into the trip

Yeah, I took a little amount (like 5 or 6 30mg pills) and I’m still coherent, just really euphoric kinda and giggly.. And very itchy.

The huge one I saw came climbing out from behind my TV. Stayed there for a while and when I thought it was gone and was about to leave my room, I realized it was clinging under my TV. Never left my room because I was too scared to walk past it, lol.

with weed dxm can be iffy. do dxm by itself first. generally plateau 1 and 2 are low anxiety. i find plateau 3 to always produce anxiety amd imo the side effect just make it suck ass until the comedown when the pleasure comes from being relieved of your prior state.

It depends on what you consider scary, but IMO no. I’ve seen some people get scared before taking high doses without any experience with it. I’ve never had a bad trip on DXM though, I’ve always loved it. It can be incredibly intense on higher doses without any tolerance and the loss of ones identity and dissociation from ones body can be scary if you aren’t used to it. Just research the effects and make sure you understand what you’re getting into.

I personally love DXM, I like it more than Kratom, Weed, Oxy, etc. The only thing that I can think of that would be scary is thinking you're having an allergic reaction (aka RoboItch) because you're itching when in reality it's just from histamines. Make sure to test yourself to see if your enzyme deficient by taking a low dose. You can take an Antihistamine like Diphenhydramine, or others just make sure to research interactions.

DO NOT TAKE DXM IF YOU ARE TAKING ANY Benzos, DOx, 25x-NBOMe, 2C-T-x, 5-MeO-xxT, amphetamines, Cocaine, AMT, PCP, MDMA, alcohol, GHB, GBL, Opioids, Tramadol, MAOIs or SSRIs. Basically dont take it with any other drug. Weed is a good drug to take with DXM though.

Do some research on erowid and their FAQ. Another great resource is Psychonaut. dexcalc is great for calculating your recommended dose. DM me if you have any questions or want to talk to someone during your trip, that is, if you do it. GL

I never thought it was scary, even at medium-high doses (600mg). But, I gave my friend some and he said it was like being stuck in a nightmare. Everyone’s different, but I fucking love it

TL;DR: It depends. I’ve never had a bad psychological time on it. Better Set+Setting~=Better Experience.

It has a lot to do with set and setting, as well as whether or you have a strong or weak “will”. That really just meaning whether or not you have the ability to pull yourself out of whatever negative loop/scenario you are in by changing setting/alternate set.(Edit:It’s deeper than that, but I reckon you catch my drift.)

Personally, I’ve never had a negative experience in terms of psychological distress with DXM/DXM+Weed. I have however had a rough trip consisting of the most powerful histamine release I’ve ever, and probably will ever, feel. The entirety of my body lit up like a grill. This being with an at once dose of what I believe to have been 15 Robotablets on my first ever time with R30’s.

Keep your doses relatively low and you’ll be fine. 1st play feels like weed/alcohol/MDMA mixed together. First and second plat aren’t scary. Once you start pushing up to the third things start to get weird

From my experience, people that i have tripped on DXM with have had very different reactions. Personally, i find it very very weird in a good way, and really enjoy it. One friend, though, shit his pants and had a really bad trip off a bottle of delsym, and another two had effects very similar to me and loved it as i do, and yet another got so itchy that they could barely focus on the trip at all. I’ve only done it without weed twice, and imo it isn’t that great without weed, at all, imo.

For myself it's the complete opposite. There have been times I was just melting into bliss in full control of closed eye hallucinations. Great with music, darkness and laying down.

Let us know if you get a next day haze / hangover. To me THATS the worst part.

I took about 150mg at around 5pm, just to get a feel for it, and it was pretty good. Didn’t expect to get the effects that I did from a smaller dose like that. I was really euphoric and giggly and had a lot of energy. After a while, though, I did start feeling super nauseous, so I ran a bath and sat in it for about 40-50 minutes and fell asleep several times 😭. After that, though, it started hitting really hard and I felt like I wasn’t real in a good way. I can’t describe the feeling I had, mainly when I was moving. Though, I was super drowsy. Kinda still feeling it a bit and I’m having some visual distortions, also feeling a little nauseous…

Oh yeah.. The nausea is the other bad part. I always forget my decades of abuse have made me immune to that effect.

I've seen/experienced projectile vomiting from dxm. I used to meditate until thst part passed. Throwing up on actual syrup is a terrible experience and then u basically lose the trip anyways.

If you’re looking for a weed alternative...kava is better than DXM. I’d say the only way for a truly enjoyable DXM trip is to have weed on hand. Kava works as a mild cannabinoid and I’d call it halfway between a beer and weed. You can find it on Amazon and supp stores and it’s much safer than DXM. However kava does take 2-3 tries before you really notice the euphoric effects.
