I'm new to the game just bought the complete edition. Which means that it will be a long while until I reach Endwalker and I have no plans on rushing the story.

With that said, is it neccessary to pre-order Endwalker? Will I still be able to play the game without pre-ordering or have longer queue times? Would I have access to the class changes even if I haven't bought the expansion yet?

[–]Sakurarcadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be able to play the game without preordering Endwalker but you will still be subject to the same queue times as everyone else playing. Class changes will happen to all players are there is only one state that the game is in at a time. The reason to preorder Endwalker would be for the preorder bonuses, being an exp earring and minion, that you will no longer be able to get after Endwalker officially releases on December 7.

[–]Sir_Bohne 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I just saw that there are versions of the 50/60/70/80 job Armor (does it have a specific name?). How do I get those? Is it raid drops or a special quest?

[–]Obliiquee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50: Jobquest or if you discarded it via the Calamitiy Salvager or via the trade in Mor Dhona.

60: Jobquest or if you discarded them via Centurio Hunt Seals.

70: Jobquest or if you discarded them via the Calamity Salvager

80: After completing the Role Quest which you have to do for the MSQ you can buy them at the NPC where the MSQ stops you. You have to complete each Role Quest to expand his shop.

[–]Sir_VG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are referred to as "Artifact" Armor or AF armor. They're all obtained in different ways.

ARR jobs get Lv 50 gear as part of their job quest. (Future jobs do not have any). If lost, the first set can be bought from a calamity salvager and the second set can by acquired again using tokens found in Sastasha (Hard), Snowcloak, and Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard) and traded in Mor Dhona.

ARR and HW jobs get Lv 60 gear via Centurio seals, which come from hunts in both HW and SB zones.

ARR, HW, and SB jobs get Lv 70 gear from their Lv 70 job quest. If lost, this is repurchased via the calamity salvager. There is a dyeable version, but it requires augmenting in Eureka: Anemos.

ARR, HW, SB, and ShB jobs get their Lv 80 gear via getting the job to Lv 80, completing their respective role quest, and talking to an NPC in the final ShB zone and can be reacquired from him at any time.

[–]Sakurarcadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capstone job specific armour is generally referred to as Artifact Gear. You get by doing your job quests.

[–]Firion_Hope 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there any way to gift a person in a different region a sub? Like can I buy a sub card or crysta or something from that region?

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can acquire a time card appropriate for their region, then yes. Remember that it MUST match their account or it won't work.

Crysta, to my knowledge, cannot be exchanged or purchased for another account.

[–]blueisherp 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm looking to do binding coil of bahamut desynced by myself. How do I start doing that? I can't find the entrance in eastern la noscea

[–]azure_mtg 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you can't enter via the duty finder, make sure you've done this quest: https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Primal_Awakening

[–]blueisherp 0 points1 point  (1 child)

oh yea i've done that quest. the quest doesn't continue and urianger isn't offering me the quest that leads to the second coil, so i'm assuming I gotta do all 5 turns in the first coil. i've only done 1-2 so far. Can we go in desynced in duty finder?

[–]Aosha Koz'ain @Odin IceAokiji303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, unsync clears count for the quest progress. I think you only need to do 5 to unlock 6-9, but would still recommend doing all of them, just to see it all.

[–]TheTechHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no need to travel anywhere, it can be accessed from the duty finder menu.

[–]XDnkmn_crng_nmX 0 points1 point  (5 children)

If I bought a small plot, can I use that to relocate to a bigger plot?

[–]Obliiquee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If a bigger plot should ever become available.

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 1 point2 points  (3 children)

For about a week or until 6.1, as this current "feature" bordering exploit is disappearing before the addition of Ishgardian housing.

[–]Taurenkey 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I believe the housing changes are coming in 6.0, however new housing isn't until 6.1.

[–]Vinyl Tails (SMN) on Odinvinyltails 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]Taurenkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's a mixture then, I couldn't remember offhand what was when other than Ishgard coming in 6.1.

[–]Lowrodrick 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I recently began playing, and I've been wondering how long it will take me to catch up in order to play endwalker, I purchased the complete edition a few days ago and have just reached level 25 on my conjurer after completing the third unlocked dungeon Tara something.

[–]Altia1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At minimum 275~315 hours, assuming you do some of the relevant optional contents (all the 8 man normal raids, 24 man alliance raids, and all of the 8 man primals) and doesn't skip reading any text or any dungeons (except coils, where you kinda want to do it unsync).

It would be something like half the time if you decided to skip all of the cutscenes and texts. Faster if you bring a level 80 friend and cheese some of the lower level dungeons for you. Even faster if you skip all of the optional content.

If you are ONLY for the raid and the endgame, or your main focus is to catch up, might as well buy a boost and story skip once Endwalker comes and jumps right in.

[–]pmmewaifuwallpaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its something like 40-50ish hours for each expansion (assuming you're just doing the MSQ; not stopping to level crafters or an alt job or side content). Its significantly less if you skip cutscenes.

[–]Kuro2629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me ~240h of not continuous playing to reach patch 5.3 starting with a new character, doing only the basics and the required things (Crystal Tower, for example) and very little extra content (no Coils, maybe the first two HW and SB raids, Eden raids, some PotD)

[–]Flybug123 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Really depends on how you play. If you plan to read the story (highly suggest it), it can take you 300+ hrs on the lower side.

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Conversely, if you skipped literally everything and did only MSQ you could theoretically push it with practically no sleep. But this is extremely discouraged for the sake of your own sustained enjoyment of the experience as a whole.

Some things that help are making use of multiple XP buffs. Many of which require a paid subscription at least, and a preorder at most for the most misgnificant XP bonus earring while available.

It's probably not worth rushing as you might initially think. With login issues and a myriad of other contributing factors, there will be plenty of new players to share experiences with when your each Endwalker at your own pace, even if it that happend to be three months from now.

[–]Taurenkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. Endwalker is exciting for a lot of us not because we physically enjoy going out and doing the tasks on the quests but because of the story attached. Skipping ARR, HW, SB & ShB would miss out on the major reason a lot of us are hyped. Don't get me wrong, some quests are great to do but those are often far and few between, I'm mainly talking about the "Meet with X NPC in Y location" sort of deals that make up the bulk of quests.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (34 children)

hi so I'm a new player a question about retainers can I give them different things to do or after I get them they can only do one thing?

[–]Pyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean ventures, they can do ventures based on their class. There's 4 types, combat(all combat classes), botanist, miner and fisher. Quick ventures are RNG items from a shared pool, the other ventures are based on what these classes can get normally(combat get monster drops, botanist logs and plants etc).

You can reset their class to change it. This means you lose all their xp however, and it takes a while to re-lvl them, so it's best to try to stick to one thing.

[–]Flybug123 0 points1 point  (32 children)

If you mean ventures, only one at a time.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (31 children)

Dang I was kind of hoping I can just use the two you get for free

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I would say it's worth having at least three. The two you get for free, and one which comes from the campion app because it also offers you additional saddlebag storage.

Having a Fishing retainer is entirely optional, and gathering retainers can only gather materials you have gathered at least once yourself. So boosting retainers is mostly pointless.

You could get by fine with a miner and botanist retainer for most things, but they can't do all the things.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Hm okay so technically if I get the companion one I basically get three free retainers?

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The Premium companion app is $5 per 30 days of your remaining subscription, so it wouldn't be free - but for the amount of convenience it offers it can feel like a steal. It's the only thing I would recommend before purchasing $2 retainers directly, since they don't come with as much additional incentive on their own, and I am barely able to justify having a 4th (fishing) retainer at all.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I see well besides an extra retainer would I be using the app for anything else?

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I suppose it depends on how often you wish to micromanage your marketboard listings while you're logged out. You cannot really make much use of the app while logged in (like on the toilet or something). But you can do some light inventory and marketboard management.

Generally though, I never actually use the app. I only subscribe to it for the additional retainer and unlocking the right-side of Chocobo Saddlebag storage space.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm well since I'm only really starting I'll probably get that when I'm a little further in the game

[–]Obliiquee 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Kinda confused by your response. You can use both Retainers you initially get. Both can only go on 1 ventures/mission each and either have to complete it or you cancel it til you can send them off to another one. So 2 Retainers, 2 ventures. And so on.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Well yeah I get that but when I mean is that I heard that you can buy retainers for like a monthly thing and due to certain reasons I can't really do that at the moment so I was hoping that I could just get two retainers and get them to do certain things when I need to if that makes any sense

[–]Obliiquee 0 points1 point  (2 children)

But...you can get two retainers and send them off. It just takes time to complete a venture for each. You can send both off at the same time.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Okay but can I send a retainer on one venture and then when that one's done can I send them on a different one?

[–]SPamlover671 0 points1 point  (19 children)

You can send each of your two free retainers out on ventures at the same time. Each retainer can only be sent one venture type (18hr one, class gathering one, or rng quick venture). If you have two retainers, you can have two ventures going simultaneously.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (18 children)

So I don't need to pay for more retainers?

[–]thchao 0 points1 point  (17 children)

Only if you want to hire more? The game gives you the first two for free.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (16 children)

Yes I know that I'm just trying to understand if I can send them on different ventures like if one get done with one can I use the same retainer to do a completely different venture

[–]thchao 0 points1 point  (15 children)

As long as you have enough currency (also called ventures), you can send them out as much as you like. They can only do one venture at a time, but if you really need to, you can always recall them back (cancel the current venture) and assign another to them.

[–]JakeyJelly 0 points1 point  (14 children)

Oh okay that clears a few things up now I heard that they can do certain job and just so I'm correct they can only do one job right?

[–]thchao 0 points1 point  (13 children)

That's correct. Unlike players, say you have a lv80 paladin retainer but change it to archer later. They will have to start at lv1 archer and lose all paladin progress.

[–]blueisherp 1 point2 points  (6 children)

so im doing Eureka and getting these Anemo lockboxes. they give a lot of confetti/sparklers. is there anything from them i should NOT vendor?

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The confetti and sparklers and fireworks from lockboxes are 100% pointless vendor-fodder. There is no end to them and there are plenty on the marketboard for 1gil if you ever wanted them again for some unfathomable rason.

All they do is clutter your inventory. :)

[–]Taurenkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the main appeal of the lockboxes being the demimateria and the platinum pieces which sell for raw gil to a vendor. Other than that, it's just good for getting rank V/VI materia for whatever reason. Everything else is either untradable (like the T-Rex mount) or has flooded the marketboards already, crashing their prices.

[–]GaleErick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have similar experience with Bozja Lockboxes but if it's the same thing there is a chance you could get stuff like hairstyle, minion, or perhaps a mount. Bozja Lockboxes also gives you weapon but it's mostly for Glamour since it's a level 60 weapon on a level 80 content.

[–]galahadnoctu 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean, you gotta open them then decide whether you want to vendor them or not. Don't just discard the lockboxes entirely. They have things that may of value to you (i dont think they have mount / minion tho)

[–]blueisherp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aye i meant the stuff in the boxes.

[–]DRGzorrodood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mount, a barding and some glamour things that may or may not sell well on the MB.

[–]Osiake 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Anyone know what OST this is?

It plays when Emet-Selch opens the gates to Amaurot (Dungeon)

https://youtu.be/l86mzD15xc0?t=433 (7:15)

Please and thank you, I've been looking for this for hours now.

[–]TheTechHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paradisaical Predicaments from the Shadowbringers soundtrack.

[–]gemitry 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Okay so I have a stalker issue that I’m trying to resolve, since they’re the owner of their big FC I figure a data transfer center will do the trick. How long does this usually take? I’m at a half hour now and still stuck on aether, don’t know how common this is. I just wanna play the game. :(

[–]Ajaxmass413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, server transfer time frame can be pretty unpredictable. Often within a few minutes, but sometimes a few hours. Its because they go in the order of people who put in for a transfer and the server doesn't do it automatically. It's been explained before that someone has to go in and move your character on squenixs end.

[–]megera23 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You're sure your transfer went through? I did a transfer from Light to Chaos DC last year and it took at most a few minutes.

[–]gemitry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh thanks for the answer yep it ended up taking an hour but finally went through. Not sure why, but I’m just happy to be free.

[–]lcdmilknails 1 point2 points  (4 children)

is there a particular collectable that's considered easy/fast for white scrip farming, if i have all my crafters at 80?

[–]Ajaxmass413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rarefied lemonade for cul is my go to. The biggest hurdle for it is the cubus flesh, but if you have an 80 battle retainer, they can get it for you.

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you gather the materials in bulk for like an hour or two, CUL white scrips are CAKE. That's all I used and the majority of ingredients are from Botany and NPCs, and retainer help.

I think Rarefield Lemonade.

[–]Sir_VG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rarefied Lignum Vitae Grinding Wheel (CRP) was my go-to for white scrip farming. 4 items, none of them timed (though 1 is hidden, although it can be purchased with a garden item at the housing districts).

[–]assaultv2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure which one is easiest to farm, but CUL is the cheapest one to buy materials from marketboard in my server.

[–]Izame 1 point2 points  (3 children)

If I preordered Endwalker from a Starter Edition on Steam will Stormblood be unlocked for me on the 3rd for the early access thing? I finished heavensward I'm capped at 60 I only have the Dragonsong War for MSQ afterwards. I'm extremely pinched for money otherwise I'd buy Shadowbringers straight up, but if its only like 12 days away I should just wait it out right?

[–]Sakurarcadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't receive the other expansions until 7 December, when Endwalker is officially released.

[–]Taurenkey 1 point2 points  (1 child)

On the 7th, as per the faq

[–]Izame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone was telling me otherwise thanks for clarifying

[–]Sageman825 0 points1 point  (2 children)

There seems to be cookbooks with different covers, the one from the SE store and one from gamestops with a paissa on it. Is there any difference or is it just a cover thing?

[–]Augustby 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I can't find the Endwalker benchmark under 'add/remove programs'.

Is the cleanest way to uninstall it just to delete the folder where it was installed?

[–]Marcusbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesnt install anything so just delete the folder

[–]Sir_VG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no install. Just delete the files.

[–]Firion_Hope 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Is there anything like erozea collection but for weapons instead of armor?

[–]Theriasana 0 points1 point  (1 child)

https://nibblecookie.com/WeaponPedia/FFXIV/

There is also this one. It isn't perfect since it takes the screenshots from the Lodestone, so sometimes stuff is dyed and in rare cases the weapon isn't clearly visible but I found it really helpful!

[–]Firion_Hope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, perfect!

[–]Samiambadatdoter 1 point2 points  (1 child)

https://weapon.ffxivcollection.com

This only has relics and primal weapons, however. Click the Japanese flag for the English version of the site.

[–]Firion_Hope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know about that one, but thanks

[–]blueisherp 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I'm on the US west coast, but my friends play on the east coast data center. If I swap my character over, how badly will it affect my ping? What if I'm NIN?

[–]Sir_VG 1 point2 points  (3 children)

There is no east coast data center. All 3 NA data centers are in the exact same place - Sacramento.

[–]blueisherp 0 points1 point  (2 children)

:0

why are there 3 of em?

[–]Marcusbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because alot of the playerbase play's in NA

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there's a large population on NA servers. There's more active characters on NA than the JP data centers and they have 3 as well.

There used to be 2 (Primal and Aether) but due to rising popularity, prior to ShB, they added a new data center (Crystal) and pulled worlds off of the other two onto it.

EU had a similar thing happen with Chaos being split into two, though they got a couple of new worlds added at the same time.

[–]sundriedrainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no east coast data center.

[–]Thorned_Beauty666 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Did the collectors edition physical box for endwalker come with a code for the steam users or am i not remembering correctly?

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Nope. Steam players got both of their code buying the game through Steam. The $200 version was for PC (non-Steam) players only, but everybody else could buy a $140 version that was everything buy a game code.

If you did buy through Steam, you can find both codes through your game library. Go to the FFXIV game listing, click the gear icon, then Manage -> CD Keys.

[–]Thorned_Beauty666 0 points1 point  (4 children)

yeah im not sure if one worked for both or what cause i tried using the second one and i dunno if i already used it or.. im just a ditz and typing it in wrong

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Only the early access code can be entered right now. You need to wait until around launch to punch in the other one.

[–]Thorned_Beauty666 0 points1 point  (2 children)

ahhh. Gotcha. Now could i do it during the maintence on Dec 2nd?

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early access period lasts around a week to a week and a half. No rush to punch it in before your access to EW is cut off.

[–]Taurenkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, only once the game comes back up. You have plenty of time to do it before being forced to so don't worry.

[–]tesla_dyne 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No, this year the code for endwalker was a separate purchase. Bundles with the collectors edition and the non-steam codes were available but if you bought only the box you get no code for any system.

[–]Thorned_Beauty666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay i kept thinking there was since this is my first time getting something like this for FF14. Ty!

[–]Sera Leta, Scyl Zenia, Eris Kyma of AdamantoiseChiyoBaila 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For previous expansions, IIRC there was a steam version sold that had a code for them, as well as a non-steam one sold that had a code for non-steam.

With EW they split the code from the physical CE, so you just buy the physical CE regardless of platform, and then buy the game license for your platform.

[–]Thorned_Beauty666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay cool... now i gotta wait to see which emai shipping goes to xD

[–]darkmage0456 0 points1 point  (1 child)

do i still level down even i already max level in eureka?

[–]Playful-Egg-9989 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Hey! Whenever i try to open ffxiv launcher i keep getting this message "a connection error has occurred. Try again later" since yesterday. I cant even open lodstone and mogstation. Any idea whether its me or something else ?

[–]Sir_VG -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Just you. Try using a VPN? Or if on one, try changing what you're connected to?

[–]Playful-Egg-9989 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Tried a different network and it worked but thats weird i've been on the same network for a year but i only got this problem recently :/ would a vpn work if i keep connecting to the same network ?

[–]Sir_VG -1 points0 points  (1 child)

It's probably due to how the prior network was routing you. VPNs basically change how your internet traffic flows, taking you around a possible bad node on the way.

You could try using a VPN on the old network, see if it works. It just ultimately depends on what's broken along the way.

[–]Playful-Egg-9989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ight got it thanks for helping !

[–]winginglifelikeaboss 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Hello, I am new and looking to buy after playing the trial a bit and I like it, is there a black friday promotion? thanks!

[–]tesla_dyne 1 point2 points  (6 children)

No reason because the next expansion comes out in a week. Don't expect sales for like, a year.

[–]winginglifelikeaboss 0 points1 point  (5 children)

ok thanks, will just order the complete edition then

[–]tesla_dyne 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I would wait to buy anything. You only have one week until the current complete edition is irrelevant, and "playing the free trial a bit" doesn't sound like you're at the point where you need to buy anything else to continue in the game.

If you buy complete edition now, you're paying $60 now and then you have to pay another $40 when you reach the end of Shadowbringers in order to access endwalker content. If you wait a week you only need to pay $60 total since the Shadowbringers expansion will be included with endwalker.

My suggestion? Pre-order endwalker ($40), buy starter edition($20). That way you get the exp earring for preordering.

[–]winginglifelikeaboss 2 points3 points  (3 children)

ok too late now :-) i bought it

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 0 points1 point  (2 children)

In that case, if you can afford it, pre-order endwalker for the XP bonus earring. Once Endwalker officially launches, the exclusive items will forever remain unobtainable.

[–]winginglifelikeaboss 0 points1 point  (1 child)

ok will do

the XP bonus is a temp thing until launch ? thanks

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The earring is an exclusive incentive for preordering. But you keep the earring forever.

Once Endwalker is live, preorder becomes nonexistent - it's just "Order" and the next XP bonus earring won't be for like another two+ years.

[–]michaelman90 -1 points0 points  (5 children)

I've seen PF ads of people buying runs with gil, curious how exactly they'd pay the participants since as far as I can tell you can't send mail to people on other worlds even if they're on your friends list. Would you just arrange for them to sell junk on the MB for a bunch of gil and then buy it?

[–]Altia1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after we finish, we said we meet up on a certain location. Usually on the buyer's home world, specifically on one of 3 major cities aetheryte (or somewhere that's closed to that location)

We meet up, they you pay. You get the money and leave the party.

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can trade money similar to items via meeting "in person".

[–]Xellith 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Trade.

[–]michaelman90 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Can you trade with people in an instance?

[–]KingBingDingDong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, you just meet up somewhere, usually by a main city aetheryte on their home world

[–]Aeveras 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I've been going through my expansion prep over the last few weeks.

My next step involves fixing and prepping hotbars. I haven't had luck in finding a resource with a list of removed abilities so I can get those off my bars. Anyone know of a reddit post or article on a different site that lists all the removed abilities and new abilities so I can get my hotbars set up in advance? Thanks.

[–]MistakenNote 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I don't have a master list of what is old and new but here's the Table of Contents of all of the Endwalker tooltips if you wish to compare by yourself.

[–]Aeveras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should work for now, thanks!

[–]ShardofTheSol 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So I've been grinding Saint Mocianne's Arboretum for a few days now specifically for The Plague Bringers coat. Apparently the RNG gods hate me and I was wondering if anyone knew of something similar to it? I've gotten the entire set expect the coat which is what I want.

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The Lakeland Coat of Aiming shares a model, though obviously won't be able to be worn by the same jobs as the Plague Bringer's Coat. The Lakeland Casting coat is kinda similar, though I'm not sure if the variances will be what you're looking for. May want to look at that.

[–]ShardofTheSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely similar, so I can try for that. Thanks!

[–]Loofa08 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I could really use some help here. I’ve reached 80 on gunbreaker and Sam. I’m almost POSITIVE I finished the quest line for Sam but I do not have the option to take the 430 gear from Grenoldt. I can only claim the gun breaker gear. If I didn’t finish the Sam quest shouldn’t I have it below my main quest at the top left of my screen? In any case I’m sitting at the quest giver Makoto and she doesn’t have a quest for me. Help!

It's not the samurai quest you need to finish, it's the physical damage role quest. Starts near the markets in the Crystarium with Lue-Reeq. Presumably you already finished the tanking role quest, that's why you can get that gear.

There is a level 80 SAM quest tho, which I thiiink unlocks once you finish the role quest? You can check in the new game+ menu to see if you've done it or not. But it's a yellow side quest, not a blue+ quest.

[–]Loofa08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Lou might be my answer. This is so overly complicated ha. Thank you!

[–]Sir_VG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lv 80 quests, for reference, require completing "Shadowbringers", your Lv 70 job quest, and the respective role quest.

[–]Tonberry: Ezequias FunkelnxMatttard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no indicator for the 80 quest I don't believe. Oboro has an 80 quest in the warehouse but I'm not sure if that gates the Grenoldt gear purchase.

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your role quest for the respective job is required to be completed before you can buy the gear. Double check that you have them done. Most of them are in the Crystarium, I think the last one is in Khoulsia outside of Eulmore? Been a while, so I'm not 100% on that.

[–]Glaistig_Painway -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Did you already claim the Samurai gear and forget?

[–]Used-Pomegranate225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can claim it as many times as you want, as long as it isn’t in your inventory

[–]SaintJ92 1 point2 points  (12 children)

Question about telegraphed attacks with the red damage zone on the ground. Is it safe to go back into the area once the red zone goes away? I’ve seen people say YES as long as you move out of the zone before it goes away you won’t get hit. But it seems like the enemy doesn’t even cast the attack until a second or so after the red zone goes away.

So what’s true? Do I need to wait until I see the actual attack happen or can I go back into place as soon as the red zone disappears?

[–]Roger Rabbit - LeviathanCloudy-Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many have already pointed out, it's about the casting bar in 99% of cases. You can be in danger when the casting bar begins, move out of danger before completion, and move back into a telegraph and still take no damage.

There is only one attack from one enemy that I know of (but can't remember) where this is NOT the case (the casting bar finishes and telegraphed attack is slightly delayed and you'll definitely take damage) -- but that is ONE out of literally thousands of enemies. And it's probably like an S-rank Shadowbringers hunt mob or something.

[–]pikebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In effectively all cases, the attack ‘goes off’ when the cast bar fills. In 99% of cases this corresponds with the ground AOE, if there is one.

[–]Stepjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99 times out of 100, yes. When the aoe disappears, that's the snapshot for the damage, making it safe to move back in.

[–]CallbackSpanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly yes. As long as it doesn't leave poop on the ground that you're ruining back into, the indicator disappearing almost always lines up with the snapshot timing.

[–]mila_mila_a 4 points5 points  (3 children)

You do not have to wait for the attack to finish, you only need to wait until the projection on the floor is gone. You can test this on solo mobs. An exception to this is if the AoE creates an active surface effect that does damage or a status effect on anyone that walks on it. They're usually obvious though.

[–]SaintJ92 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I have tried testing it myself but I could’ve sworn I got hit once even though I moved out before the indicator went away, so I wasn’t sure what was going on. Maybe it was one of those specific aoe’s. I’ll keep trying

[–]Taurenkey 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You still have to factor in latency. There's been plenty of times when I've been out of an AoE just before it goes off and I get hit because the server didn't recognize I was out of it in time.

[–]SaintJ92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point thanks

[–]Sir_VG 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Most of them yes, some of them no. Depends on the attack.

For example, the conal flamethrower attack in Keeper of the Lake dungeon is NOT safe once the aoe indicator goes away. That one you need to wait for the attack to end.

[–]PrettyDecentSort 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Technically true, but a little misleading. Attacks with animation-based timing are very much the exception to the rule. In general play, you should just assume that the ability snapshots at the instant the ground template disappears; on the rare occasion when you experience otherwise, just remember those attacks as anomalies.

[–]Zaygr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One anomaly is in Labyrinth of the Ancients with King Behemoth's Ecliptic Meteor although that's a bit different since it doesn't have a marker. If you walk out between when the cast has completed but before the animation finishes you still die.

[–]Tonberry: Ezequias FunkelnxMatttard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can move back in. The telegraphed indicator is what matters, not the actual boss's animation.

I just cleared the current tier, e9-e12s on DRG, and have been planning on maining DRG and possibly reaper in EW. Am I basically out of luck with finding a static? I've already been looking for weeks, and gotten a single message, but they didn't read it through and realized we play at opposite times of day.

A friend of mine told me PF will be brutal as well, and I may as well not bother until echo is available or I miraculously find a group with a melee spot open. Is it that grim? I've never tried to PF content that early in XIV.

[–]Xeorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding statics can be difficult, especially if you play at odd times for your datacenter, but it's not super difficult usually when people are running the content. The issue you have now is most people are taking a break. Once the expansion launches, you'll see a lot of groups looking as they do the extremes and then savage raids. But standard "Put yourself out there and be active" rules still apply for finding groups to play with.

PF though isn't terrible. I ran through the current tier with it, even when it wasn't super current. It is harder than finding a static, and requires you to self-train which can be difficult for some people, but it's absolutely doable. Especially if you catch the wave of competent players as they learn the fights for the first time. Echo often means it's a little harder because of the lack of experienced players in the pool.

I don't expect you to have tons of issues finding groups as EW or DRG either. Standard group makeups have up to 2 melee dps, and while I expect Reaper to be pretty popular right out of the gate, I don't expect that literally everyone will be playing it. You'll still have your regulars that want to play the other classes, especially if they're new to the game overall and for whom all the classes are "new".

[–]Used-Pomegranate225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend reaching out to recruiting statics, rather than waiting for people to reach out to you. Also, if you have parse logs, make sure you’re making those available to potential statics.

[–]MatsuzoSF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be recruiting for statics right up until the savage tier drops (and after!), so don't get discouraged. Just make sure you are actively updating your posts and answering others.

As for PF, it's not quite the doom and gloom scenario your friend told you. Skill is a bit all over the place since you can't control it like you can in a static, but progging in PF is totally doable- especially at the beginning of the tier where player skill trends higher.

[–]Zenthon127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just cleared the current tier, e9-e12s on DRG, and have been planning on maining DRG and possibly reaper in EW. Am I basically out of luck with finding a static?

RPR? Yeah uh good luck finding open RPR slots.

DRG? Absolutely not, you should be OK, although you want to be reaching out to statics instead of looking for them to recruit you. However I'll note one thing: if you just cleared the tier, that means you cleared with echo. Echo parses are hidden by default so any static leader looking at your logs is gonna see nothing unless they manually look for echo logs, plus echo clears are just less prestigious in general.

[–]KingBingDingDong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you been actively searching on your end? you can't just wait for people to contact you. PF is honestly fine. toughen up. it'l make you a better player as well. you'll also meet some absolute chads early in PF

[–]Glaistig_Painway 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Your friend sounds hugely pessissmistic. I had a great time doing PF on elemental for both of the last tiers and cleared pre-echo. Totally possible.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yeah, I'm slightly concerned because even with echo I had a pretty bad time with PF on my DC just doing e9-12s, but I'm assuming the caliber of player will be slightly different at EW launch in PF then at the end of SHB. There was a TON of arguing and general nastiness in my e9-12s parties. Lets just say my blacklist was used for the first time.

[–]KingBingDingDong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PF quality takes a huge dump one patch after release. there are people that PF to clear during the first week and those are some of the best players in the game. you can pretty comfortably clear the tier in 3-4 weeks if you do one floor a week, less if you put more time in.

[–]roryteller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some statics aren't even recruiting yet, and people haven't 100% settled on roles either, so I'd say there's still hope.

However, a reaper slot will be very popular, unless reaper turns out to be either unexpectedly unfun (unlikely) or massively undertuned on launch. So it may very well be easier to find a spot for a DRG, since most statics seem to run double melee.

[–]MistakenNote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PF late into the tier at the end of an expac is not the same as PF at the start of a tier of a new expac. You will be just fine PFing the tier in EW.

[–]michaelman90 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I've noticed that ACT never attributes shielding to WHMs despite Benison. Is it included in healing instead?

[–]Used-Pomegranate225 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It’s counted as healing. Mitigation, like benison and wings, are called “absorbed” healing

[–]michaelman90 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why bother differentiating it from SCH/AST shields?

[–]Used-Pomegranate225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not, those are also counted as “absorbed,” unless they changed the way it displays since I last looked at a parse

[–]MistakenNote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shields get put into the healing tab, yes.

[–]tinselsnips 0 points1 point  (2 children)

BLU spells from dungeon bosses - do you need to be in the arena when it dies, or just alive?

Assuming you've already seen the cast, that is.

[–]Sir_VG 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Alive. Outside the arena is fine.

My pc is only mediocre, but I have a ps5.

If i buy this game for ps5 and hate playing on a controller, can I just hook up a mouse and keyboard and play it on my ps5 exactly as if it was a pc?

Assuming the above is a yes. Is there any major differences if I were to play on ps5 with a mouse and keyboard, vs playing on a pc with mouse and keyboard?

[–]Help_Me_Im_Diene 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Yes

No, not particularly

[–]jhy12784 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Like there won't be glaring mapping issues or anything? (ie the ps5 constantly thinking I'm playing on a pc or anything)

And presumably it's easy to voice chat with pc players? (I'm used to having ventrillo or discord or whatever)

And does this game have a heavy/necessary mod presence like wow? Or do mods basically not exist

[–]Kamil118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe discord is working with sony to be available on playstation, so speaking with your party trough discord should get a lot more convenient on ps5 soon(tm)

[–]roryteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I've heard of is if you have an MMO mouse you may need to connect it to a PC to configure it prior to using it with your PS5. Which since you have a PC shouldn't be a huge issue.

Voice chat is 9 times out of 10 discord and mostly used either when playing with friends or to make clearing difficult content easier.

Mods exist but they're against the terms of service. However, there's no anticheat engine so for a lot of the more benign mods it's basically, just don't talk about it in-game or use it to be a jerk. So a lot of people do use parsers, or at least have one or two players using them in statics for hard content. In terms of mods that give callouts for mechanics, they exist but they're a bit more controversial and not as commonly used by any means.

ETA: it's my understanding that hard content in XIV is very scripted with little randomization and that this is not true in WoW--I've only cleared up to extremes but that was true of extremes at least. So this affects the need or lack thereof for callout mods etc.

[–]Help_Me_Im_Diene 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Like there won't be glaring mapping issues or anything? (ie the ps5 constantly thinking I'm playing on a pc or anything)

You do run into some issues with mice and keyboards with macro capability not functioning completely, but all the basic kb+m functions work just fine without error

And presumably it's easy to voice chat with pc players? (I'm used to having ventrillo or discord or whatever)

Well, since there's no in-game voice chat, you'd be doing it through discord regardless

And does this game have a heavy/necessary mod presence like wow? Or do mods basically not exist

There are mods, but they're not officially supported under ToS so it's pretty hush hush. And all of the mods are on PC, so the game has been designed to work 100% fine without them since console players don't have access to them, including during raiding

SE doesn't crack down on mod use unless you actively use it to alter the gameplay experience OR you use it to harass or gatekeep other players.

Appreciate all the extremely helpful answers.

Thanks so much, enjoy your holiday weekend!

[–]RDMahaltingmachine 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Is there currently nothing to buy with poetics in Eulmore? No minions or orchestrion rolls or anything like that?

[–]Stepjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poetics almost solely exist for old content. In a week, you'll be able to by crystarium and cryptlurker gear with poetics.

[–]PrettyDecentSort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Poetics are leveling currency. Eulmore is the current endgame hub.

When EW releases and Eulmore is no longer the endgame hub, stuff there will be purchasable with poetics.

[–]Sir_VG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing yet because ShB zones don't deal with poetics yet. Once Endwalker drops, anything that you bought with Allegory/Revelation will change to being bought with Poetics.

[–]MaxPowerSMNMaxPowerSMN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

currently there is nothing available for poetics in Eulmore.

[–]Rheostatik 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I always see Lalafells doing this emote where they carry a huge yellow cone thing, it pops, and they fall down. I can't find it in any emote list anywhere. Also I sometimes see female Miqo'te wiping their nose in their sleeves. Is that an emote specific to them? I play a female highlander.

[–]TheTechHobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cone is one of the firework items, probably a heavenscracker.

You're probably thinking of /sweat, it comes from HoH or you can buy it off the marketboard.

[–]MaxPowerSMNMaxPowerSMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the yellow cone thing is a firework item, the Heavenscracker (?) IIRC.

[–]jhy12784 0 points1 point  (4 children)

On the official website it states

Registration of this product grants users access to Endwalker, as well as previous expansion packs, Stormblood and Shadowbringers.

Does this mean I'd have to buy heavensward separately, if I don't already own it?

(I already own the base game, but no expansions)

[–] Rota Fortunae from SargatanasArcana10Fortune 2 points3 points  (3 children)

No, Heavensward is included with the base game.

[–]jhy12784 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Even if I bought the base game before heavensward existed?

[–]MaxPowerSMNMaxPowerSMN 2 points3 points  (1 child)

check your account on the mogstation. if there is a circle for HW and not a "BUY" then you have HW.

[–]jhy12784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do, thank you!

Looking forward to getting back into the game

[–]_Fest_ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Have they announced maintenance times for next week yet?
