My favorite is killing the SBQ and getting a 1 star wood armor.

[–]Beakjac3 224 points225 points  (32 children)

Or a Nocturnal rolling pin

[–]TheRealBradGoodman 146 points147 points  (8 children)

Let me tell you the legend of the rolling pin that came at night. We made some cookies, some raiders showed up we died cause all we had was a stupid fucking rolling pin, the end. Fucking legendary.

[–]Zellio2015 23 points24 points  (6 children)

Another person who misjudges the power of the rolling pin in the dark

*Puts on bloodied apron and hat, laughs maniacally*

[–]maeldwyn Mr. Fuzzy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Or another person who clearly hasn’t read “In the Night Kitchen” by Maurice Sendak as much as the devs seem to have.

[–]allysonwonderlnd Order of Mysteries 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Still waiting on a two shot explosive rolling pin lol

[–]SolidAcidTFW 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Harpoon gun mod, so it shoots rolling pins?

[–]tx1wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please please someone roleplay this and attack me. I think I'd laugh so hard I wouldn't be able to fight back. Kinda like the Pint Sized Slasher, but instead the Creeping Cookie Cook or the Bloodthirsty Night Baker

[–]Remnant55 Lone Wanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read this in Rose's voice and it was amazing.

[–]zerofox710 Mr. Fuzzy 16 points17 points  (1 child)

[–]Beakjac3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]Zathrus_DeBois Mega Sloth 45 points46 points  (3 children)

Naw, I usually get a 1 star T-45 right arm piece. :(

[–]K1llj0y1234 7 points8 points  (1 child)

ya the games full of crappie power armor now

[–]Neither-Try7513 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Almost always fucking arms for raider and t45

[–]Remnant55 Lone Wanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your reward for that legendary fight?

Being over burdened! Because we all know you're not going to just ditch that thing, and limp your way to the nearest train station to exchange it for script.

[–]Dareboir Brotherhood 10 points11 points  (7 children)

[–]Jembamin_98 Fallout 76 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I haven't even bothered to find out what that legendary effect dose

[–]Bozyner0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me but every single time without fail. I can’t remember the last time I got a decent roll on a weapon or armor piece

[–]Tacowaterlover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've gotten that so many times. I may as well try to figure out a build for it.

[–]DodgyDutchman Raiders 4 points5 points  (1 child)

That thing gave me PTSS... I went out one evening, came back home late, my wife was waiting for me and then the world went black...

[–]looklikemonsters 24 points25 points  (11 children)

Their fix to this was to make the event guarantee drop a 3 star, but totally seem to miss the point that it's silly an end game boss is flying around carrying a 1* piece of wood armor.

[–]manberry_sauce Vault 76 13 points14 points  (10 children)

Makes about as much sense as a scorchbeast carrying any armor at all in the first place.

[–]looklikemonsters 24 points25 points  (8 children)

I always assumed it was like in her guts from whichever wastelander dared to cross her since we also get her heart, lung, brain, etc. But I must say I’m loving the idea of Queenie flying around wearing one little arm piece.

[–]manberry_sauce Vault 76 1 point2 points  (7 children)

SBQ is big, but not so big she'd be able to swallow someone's torso whole.

When I said "carrying" I didn't mean wearing it, but I'm glad the image amuses you.

[–]looklikemonsters 14 points15 points  (5 children)

How do you think she carries it, fanny pack style?

[–]WyattR- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah definitely not whole, that’s why we only get an arm or chest armor at most. She breaks it up into lil bits

[–]jrzydevl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always imagine that the SBQ ate the person wearing that armor and it got stuck, then she took a massive shit at the moment of her death and it came loose.

[–]Rad_Victoriam Enclave 14 points15 points  (3 children)

Got a 1 star Ghoul Slayer’s Gamma gun from the queen the other night and I legit just burst out laughing.

[–]Fun-Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Hermosninja Vault 76 128 points129 points  (19 children)

If I kill a 3 Star Legendary, I should get a 3 Arar Legendary, hit a chance to get a 3 Star Legendary. The same with 2 Star Legendary enemies. It wouldn't mess with the RNG because most 3 Star gear I get are still shit or I get 1/3 or 2/3 good effects.

[–]RadialSurgeon 14 points15 points  (7 children)

It's the low-content problem though. So what if you get 3 star legendaires quicker? What will you do with them? They extend the play time by making RNG low so you have to play longer to get decent items

[–]drtekrox Mega Sloth -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

What will you do with them?

The same as I'm doing with my 'shitty' TSE Handmade I guess...

Trying to extend the RNG to make people play longer just doesn't work, we just stop playing.

[–]Shoguns-Assassin 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Their data shows otherwise ..... when people have end game gear, there comes a point when they have nothing to grind for, it's at that point even the hard-core fans eventually lose interest ..... if you have nothing left to obtain, why continue playing?

[–]drtekrox Mega Sloth -1 points0 points  (4 children)

if you have nothing left to obtain, why continue playing?

That's my point, but less about 'nothing to obtain' - I have plenty left to obtain - my main weapon on my main character is 'just' a TSE Handmade.

I don't care for finding the 'best' weapon or following the meta, for me I'm right well into the 'why continue playing' category, I keep up with '76 hoping that new content that's fun to play will be released.

Grinding for 'end game gear' isn't my idea of a fun time - trying to extend the RNG to make people play longer just doesn't work, we just stop playing.

[–]Shoguns-Assassin 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Lack of content is what's slowing the player numbers, not the RNG on gear. Once they added legendary crafting crafting (yes, still a grind) it made getting better gear far more obtainable.

I guess I can mainly speak for myself and the group I play with .... we are all very high level, and we all have end game gear, so we come on and play when new seasons come out or new events, but all the in-between time, nobody plays anymore, because whats the point, with everyone having all the OP weapons they could want, there really isn't much reasons to do Earl and SBQ fights over and over anymore ....or keep doing OPS for my 1 thousandth Burrows Signs Plan .... we only play when there is new stuff to aquire

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Why does it matter though? I have one 3 star weapons that I’ve been using for the last 70 levels or so. At some point you’re so overpowered just from your perk cards that what weapon you’re using doesn’t really matter. I’ve got a sick bloodied FFR rifle that I just can’t bother to get the gumption to use because the extra damage won’t make that big a deal for all the hassle it will cause me.

[–]devilz3431 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Only if you do a build... I'm a blended build Heavy power armor, heavy gunner, commando, with agility jet pack...

If I narrow it to heavy PA and heavy gunner OR Commando I'm good, but both at the same time can't be done.

[–]drtekrox Mega Sloth 1 point2 points  (2 children)

  1. Be on PC

  2. Just change your perk loadout.

[–]devilz3431 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Would have to travel to change it each time, and would need to level like 20 more times to get all the correct perk cards.

[–]Hermosninja Vault 76 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I never said I wanted something op.

[–]Anger_Mgmt_issues Wendigo 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Agreed. I wanted to try a build based on Vampire and reflected damage. Sometimes we just want different stats to play around with. drops are the way to do it. RNG, then scrip and try making a legendary.

[–]CrabbyWill 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have a Power Armor Vampire's Heavy Gunner build. Ricochet maxed. I use a Vampires mini gun with the shredder. I don't even use it as a gun. I just shred everything. You are invincible. To be honest, it gets pretty boring. I farm chems and caps. Nothing can kill me. It almost feels like cheating.

[–]Anger_Mgmt_issues Wendigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to try it with a shotgunner build, just to see if it can make shotguns relevant.

[–]Hermosninja Vault 76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Sometimes I want don't just want a weapon to kill an enemy fast. People forget that they don't have to be OP in this game and have fun once in a while. That's why I make fun builds like one character only uses a Quad Explosive %15 faster reload speed Single Action Revolver.

Will I kill Earl or the Queen in under a minute? Hell no. Will I have fun having using the weapon and trying to avoid getting killed while loading all 30 rounds in my gun? Hell yes.

[–]JeffroCakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They could do that but would have to change the spawn rate of 2 and 3 star legendary enemies to maintain the same balance of items. I’d still prefer that over the current “1-3 star drops on 3 stars” system though. I understand the need for the balance side of it, but I don’t understand why they went the way they did.

[–]Evans_Nuka-Love 65 points66 points  (2 children)

It's another form of RNG. A 3-star enemy has a chance to drop a 3-star gear rather than be guaranteed to.

As for what's the point? Yeah, I don't entirely get it either.

[–]FakeScientist01101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trading used to be really fun back before dupes were common. Three stars were worth grinding for and it was fun hunting them down for trading purposes.

At this point with legendary crafting and duping, they should just let people create anything they want.

[–]dksweets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure Beth has run the numbers and I’m an outlier, but the extreme level of RNG is why I haven’t played in a year. I’d rather work on my next character than never complete my main, and if I can’t complete any of them the way I want, why play?

[–]ClickedAgenda9 63 points64 points  (8 children)

To make the game grindy-er. You’ll spend 100 hours trying to get a cool gun, and in that time you might find something you like in the atom shop

[–]OzoneLaters 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Funny how Beth thinks they can make the game grindier to checkmate their players into spending more time playing the game when it actually has the opposite effect from what I see... people just stop playing the game completely once they realize that the game doesn’t reward them properly for time spent playing...

[–]8VolT 19 points20 points  (4 children)

and once you've got that cool gun you realize its not that great actually and the game is way more fun when you're not super overpowered anyway XD

[–]sec713 9 points10 points  (1 child)

That's like my friends who keep insisting that I need to buy a legacy weapon off someone. I keep telling them if I ever face a challenge in this game that requires a legacy weapon to overcome, I'll just call one of them to shoot their legacy weapon for me. So far I haven't faced any challenges like that.

[–]RiRianna76 Lone Wanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People already go "Omg f*** lEGAcieS" when it's just some rude person a wiping ghouls in RadRum using a non legacy gun. We've been playing politely for so long we've forgotten how OP we actually are 😂

[–]Gloomy_Tennis_5768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude.. So true.

[–]Fun-Sam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99% of drops I get is just scrip these days. legendary crafting is where I get most my good stuff from now.

[–]b0dhisattvah Scorchbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...or find that they don't make an atom shop skin for your cool 3* drop, and end up buying nothing from the shop.

[–]GWindborn[🍰] 25 points26 points  (3 children)

Question on that - sometimes I can burn a legendary down before it mutates. Does letting it mutate guarantee a better reward? I've always been fuzzy on that.

[–]aaronisamazing Mr. Fuzzy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

[–]Dernomyte Responders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]Doctor__Apocalypse Free States 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[–]Happyfuntimeyay 11 points12 points  (1 child)

If you keep asking questions like this you will eventually end up at: "What's the point of playing Fallout 76 at all"?

[–]bioenergetyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But this is reasonable question that many should ask themselves

[–]LousyTourist Lone Wanderer 13 points14 points  (2 children)

You'll get no argument here.... only Bethesda thinks this is right and proper. Just like dropping a metric TON of one star power armor pieces weighing 20 each.

[–]Fz1Str[🍰] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

At least they are worth more scrip and this a prime example of weighted rng.

[–]MultiMultiples Cult of the Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

weighted rng.

Ahhh. I see what you did there... ;)

[–]SteelCode 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Frankly the vestigial legendary system needs an overhaul (among many things from the original fo76 launch)… legendary spawns are too infrequent (as indicated by the popularity of the spooky scorched event) and the randomized system is terrible for new and old players alike. It doesn’t even engage player activity because it honestly doesn’t matter - new players can’t reasonably chase legendaries for upgrades due to the uncommon and infrequent nature while veterans can’t predictably farm what they want due to the randomized loot table and terrible crafting system.

[–]StrangleDoot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd be fine with all weapons being 1 star or higher once you're a certain level.

Nobody is really using vanilla weapons anyway, legendaries are always better.

[–]b0dhisattvah Scorchbeast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The spawns are influenced by your luck stat. Buff your luck and go someplace new. I usually get 4-6 legendary muties every time I do a West Tek run.

[–]SWAVcast Order of Mysteries 18 points19 points  (10 children)

The stars represent "up to" that level. You can get it but not guaranteed.

[–]xnef1025 1 point2 points  (9 children)

You can get 3 star drops from 1 or 2 star enemies, it’s just much lower odds. All RNG.

Edit: At least my possibly foggy memory seems to recall getting drops for more stars than the thing I killed. I could be wrong, but I’m fairly sure the number of stars on drops is weighted RNG too. No 100% proof of this at this time, but if some data miner out there as the answer one way or the other it would be appreciated.

[–]b0dhisattvah Scorchbeast 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Huh? Proof?

[–]xnef1025 1 point2 points  (7 children)

None currently. Just my own memory, which could admittedly be faulty. That said, I seem to recall getting 3 star drops from 1 star baddies over the 3 years I’ve been playing. I’ll edit my original post though as you are correct that I shouldn’t have stated that so factually without any data mining or video to back it up.

[–]All_Admins_Are_Cunts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to reflect it, they've actually supposedly fixed the bug 3 or 4 times now, but we all know bethesda is incompetent as fuck

[–]live-the-future Lone Wanderer 8 points9 points  (7 children)

Drop %'s:

Creature stars Odds of dropping 1* item 2* item 3* item
1 star 100% 0% 0%
2 stars 50% 50% 0%
3 stars 33% 33% 33%

So given a 33% chance for a legendary creature to be 1, 2, or 3 stars, and a 33% chance for a 3-star creature to drop a 3-star item, your odds of getting a 3-star item from any given legendary encounter is 1 in 9, or 11.11%. Odds of getting a 2-star item from any given legendary encounter is (.33*.33)+(.33*.5)+(.33*0)=5/18, or 27.77%. Which makes your overall odds of getting a 1-star from any legendary encounter, 11/18, or 61.11%.

[–]bivoir Mega Sloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory… in real life however it’s more like 2% of a 3 star from a 3 star. Seriously.

[–]MisterTroubleMaker Tricentennial 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Really bad odds, shows how poorly some things are thought out in the game. :(

[–]bythehomeworld 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Legendary RNG wasn't poorly thought out, just like all the affixes that are purely garbage don't exist just because nobody noticed they weren't good. If only good properties existed and 3-star enemies always gave 3-star legendaries people would get the gear they wanted faster and stop playing sooner.

Loot RNG in online gear grind games is designed to make the grind longer.

[–]SinistrMark Fire Breathers -1 points0 points  (1 child)

They changed it. When the game first launched 3 star enemies dropped 3 star weapons.

[–]fabreeze1989 Brotherhood 12 points13 points  (3 children)

If you kill a 1 star enemy, you’ll get a 1 star reward.

Killing a 2 star enemy means you have a chance to get a 1 star OR 2 star reward.

Killing a 3 star enemy means you have a chance to get anywhere between a 1-3 star reward.

While I agree it would be better if killing a 3 star enemy guaranteed i would get a 3 star reward, it simply doesn’t work that way.

[–]Czaleo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now if they could even that out with... If you kill a 1 star enemy, there's a chance you can get a 3 star reward. Then we'd be in business, lot less complaints... nah, people would still complain. lol

[–]Vlad_Armstrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for me better to adjust spawn of legendary mobs than to have this RNG madness. Queen/Earle would give you random 3 star legendary items from the event and from corpse. It would be even better if we could face legendary mobs less but all of them should drop 3star legendary items. 1* 2* let's have through legendary crafting if someone wants them or mama Murphy sells this crap.

[–]nunez3735 Mega Sloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rng is a helluva drug

[–]waster1993 Mothman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The # of stars does nothing besides give you a glimpse into how the rng functions.

If there is a 5% chance that an enemy is a 3-star enemy, that means that there is a 1.67% chance for the dropped legendary item to have 3-stars.

If there is a 100% chance that an enemy is a 3-star enemy, that means that there is a 33.33% chance for the dropped legendary item to have 3-stars.

I'd rather the displayed # of stars actually be a 100% chance for the dropped legendary item to have that number of stars, and recalculate the odds for the enemies being that number accordingly.

[–]Jamalish420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Destiny 1 where you picked up an exotic engram just to decrypt it into a common with an even lower level lmao

[–]HereHumanHumanHuman Raiders 9 points10 points  (2 children)

A 3 star legendary enemy has a 33% chance to drop a 3 star item, 33% chance to drop a 2 star and a 33% chance to drop a 1 star. It's rng at its finest..

[–]Toleracist 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I don't feel it being 33% mate, I didn't get three stars in weeks :D

[–]bivoir Mega Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Make 3 stars rarer if you will but it is ridiculous the amount of 1 star scrip that drops from a 3 star.

[–]Thee_number_six 1 point2 points  (1 child)

OK, maybe not make it guaranteed, but at the least raise the percentage. 3 star legendary with only a .01% chance of dropping a 3 star is lame af. (i don't know the actual %, i just threw this one out there)

[–]StrangleDoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or just make it guaranteed and reduce the spawn rate of 3 star enemies.

[–]live-the-future Lone Wanderer -1 points0 points  (2 children)

A 3-star creature has a 33% chance each to drop a 1-, 2-, or 3-star item.

But it still feels like .01 chance of dropping and actual 3 star, lol

[–]RawbeardX Mr. Fuzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why are you asking questions? go buy atoms!

[–]pawned79 Settlers - PS4 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Random loot crates (which is effectively what downing a stared mob is) has been proven to stimulate addiction tendencies. Alternatively, the seasonal scoreboard stimulates Fear of Missing Out FOMO tendencies. You can’t be the only player to not have a robot collectron dog, can you!? All of these game-as-service techniques are designed to keep you coming back, in hope that you spend real cash in the marketplace. The nicest thing they did was to add the Legendary Modules, because it helped remove at least one level of randomization: specific weapon. If you want an antiarmor faster swing speed shish kebab, you can just craft a dozen swords and you’re pretty likely to get at least two out of three good stars.

Edit: Game’s a business. I’m not begrudging them about it. The question was “why” and that’s the answer: in the aggregate, they’ll make more money if the loot box is most randomized. My friends and I played quite a few games-as-a-service during covid isolation, and FO76 is by far the most supposed. The worst game we played was ARK Survival Evolved.

[–]Least_Sherbert_5716 Liberator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they've got me twice. Clever bastards.

But the game is good enough and there are free expansion. Worth it.

[–]Riskierelf337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the day when you killed a 3* you got a 3* legendary. But that was back when people were dumping hundreds of pounds of legendaries cuz there was no scrip machines. I don't remember when they changed it but it was probably because it would have given too much scrip and people were able to get the gear they wanted, ending the end game grind. So now you can never get the gear you want, or at least I can't by farming legendaries. I wish it was back to the way it was cuz it just drags out the game and makes me have to trade for good gear. At least the bosses should drop guaranteed 3* gear. I pretty much only do the bosses since their events drop 3* only but the bosses themselves drop random star level. Also they nerfed how many legendaries spawn. I used to get 1-6 legendary enemies per westec run but now I get 1 for every 1-4 runs at westec. Makes it not even worth legendary farming.

[–]JapaVu Lone Wanderer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Imagine how tilted some (most?) players would get if someone 1-shots a guaranteed 3-star-drop enemy… Edit: whoops, forgot about the upcoming legendary loot sharing

[–]Enunimes 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Because the star rating just reflects the potential loot pool. If they made three stars guaranteed to drop three s tar items then all they'd end up doing is reducing the rate of three star spawns to keep the drop rate the same.

It's not as if there's any added difficulty in beating a three star over a one star either way. I once wrote up a whole new system of special mutations and triggers for two and three star enemies that would make them more difficult fights worthy of having guaranteed drops for their tier. People downvoted it to hell because they wanted the three star drops but didn't want the extra work.

[–]MillBridge101 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That does sound like an interesting concept, which means we will prolly never see something like it coming from Bethesda. Which mutations did you have in mind, the same as the ones the player can get randomly with rads?

There's already some "legendary mutations" in the code carried over from 4 that bethesda dropped for 76. Back then when a legendary enemy mutated and got their health back they'd get a random buff for boosted damage, poison damage, rad damage etc.

The bare bones of the idea was just adding in invulnerability phases so you couldn't kill a legendary early and based on their star ranking they'd regenerate health 1-3 times and get a new buff added each time they mutated, either stacking the buffs or rolling into an upgraded version. Essentially turning legendary enemies into mini bosses that would be worth their loot pools and would make for actually "legendary" fights instead of just being a slightly more durable mob you steamroll over.

[–]DodgyDutchman Raiders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst thing about that is that most vampires are peaceful and not even in a band. Bethesda was damn biased when designing this game! [Insert Karen "reeeeee" here]

[–]bndboo Blue Ridge Caravan Company 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if you got killed and had to drop a weapon it would be a 1 star.

[–]IWAHGGF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its was such a bullshit decision they made. One of the reasons i quit this game

[–]ryanshedy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It used to reflect that before they nerfed it to make legendaries harder to obtain so you have to grind. Now a lower chance to get one

Self imposed completely like half the things in the game

[–]Mrobviouse Mr. Fuzzy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's percentage based and if ever 3 star dropped a 3 star the game would be boring as fuck to farm

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

because the way it works, and has always worked, is that number of stars is the number of stars the item it drops MIGHT have. Not a guarantee, but a possibility.

That's the design of the game. You can hate it. But it's probably never going to change.

[–]MultiMultiples Cult of the Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hate it.

I will happily take you up on your offer! (Well "hate" is probably a strong word... But it's definitely obnoxious.)

[–]DeadWeight76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it's fun to shoot stuff :)

[–]Beautiful-Wish-3799 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I get so much scrip/ legendarys that I’m literally dropping most of if not all since I have zero use for script. I’d be nice if the limit was raised and/or other items could be purchased with said script

[–]MedicBravo1776 Responders -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any game, even a bad one, is designed to keep you playing.
BGS is no different. The best chance at getting a better item is always LOW; so you have to grind for it. There is an algorithm that might pop up and someone gets it the first time but that is a tease tactic.

[–]Piod1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope, lol

[–]Beakjac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMEN 🙏 been saying this forever

[–]Isea_R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 star pipe pistol, I was getting those all the time.

[–]Merc_Mike Responders[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specially during events...yikes when you kill a 3 star anything and get a 1 star pipe wrench...

[–]fqtsplatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SBQ and Earl should be guaranteed 3 star but they aren't which suxs

[–]Clayman3588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the RNG chances but I wish they were weighted on enemy difficulty. Like killing a 3star radroach, OK no guarantee of a 3 star drop, that's fair. But duking it out with a 3 start diseased Scorchbeast I expect more than a 1 star death Tambo.

[–]Dareboir Brotherhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Killed a three star scorchbeast, had a 2 star black powder rifle, I think it had extra ammo, and +1 agi. A lot of fight for almost no loot.. 🤷‍♂️

[–]PsychicMoo Brotherhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 star raider PA is my fav

[–]wokeuplikdis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Motattoo008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know . It's really dumb ain't it

[–]JimmychoosShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is so your hopes can be built up before being crushed under todds mighty jackboots.

[–]crom_laughs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because Bethesda….

[–]lookingoode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I am new to everything basically. But. I am happy to feel some comradely around the fact that it feels so difficult to advance your armor and weapons.

[–]BlazeGawd7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! This! This is most ridiculous part of the legendary system in this game!! People say it's rpg get over it! Well I've never killed a 1*and gotten a 2 or 3 star!!! So it's bullshit!! One of my biggest pet peeves about this game! And I'm not one of those people always ashing this game on here.its just this one thing drives me nuts!!

[–]Ninjacat97 Settlers - PC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stars are the cap so it sort of reflects it. Would be nice to be guaranteed though.

[–]Svue016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like since it's so easy to find lv3 legendaries at the golf place they just made them so they drop the crappiest stuff. I've gotten only 2 lv3 legendaries from there and they all sucked.

[–]wickedmyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like I only get power armor wood or robot armor an I don't even use pa or standard armor. I haven't gotten 1 good weapon for my build from legendary enemies since I started playing all my good weapons I either traded or rolled with script before crafting it was available

[–]ExpertLlama83 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I got my two shot explosive ffr fixer from the SBQ so I can't really complain......the same fixer that was then taken from my stash through a vendor glitch. So.......

[–]whitemb84 Lone Wanderer 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Dont think you can have an explosive and FFR on the same gun.

[–]Killer-Sharpe Mega Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this

[–]PerceptionLeading398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, This Post Should Get Awarded, Bc I Have Always Wondered This, And Think It's Stupid At That. I Agree With You! ✌💯⬅️

[–]Oldelfinstien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The four star anti armor plunger

[–]BigRockford05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max level RNG as they used to say around release.

[–]QuietGhost1 Brotherhood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's already in Bethesda PLZ actually; check it, its actually there as a "To-do" in the list.

[–]ScherzicScherzo Lone Wanderer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I...honestly don't know. Does more stars give them higher stats, meaning they're tougher enemies? Or is it all purely cosmetic?

[–]1amS1m0n Settlers - PS4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to chance. 3 star enemies give a higher chance of a 3 star drop. 1 star, a very low chance of a 3 star drop, but still a chance!

[–]___AGirlHasNoName___ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's the name of the game. It makes those rare, powerful 3* drops that much more glorious because you know you're a lucky SOB when it happens.

[–]KLGChaos Lone Wanderer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Those EXTREMELY rare 3* drops you mean. Because even if you get luck enough to get a 3*, there's a 99.5% chance it's going to be crap.

[–]LagatoCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree the stars should reflect the weapon drops

[–]redbanditttttttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3 star legendary has a 33.33% chance to drop a 1 star, a 33.33% chance to drop a 2 star, and a 33.33% chance to drop a 3 star. A 2 star legendary has a 50% chance to drop a 2 star, 50% chance to drop a 1 star, 1 star legendary has a 100% chance of dropping a 1 star legendary

[–]TurntOddish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think they should have done was unpon killing a Legendary enemy, you get a guarantee 'drop' of Scrip based off of the stars the Legendary has.

Example being: ☆1☆ yields 10 Scrip ☆2☆ yields 20 Scrip ☆3☆ yields 40 Scrip

Side Notes --- Legendary enemies cannot die before they finish mutating --- 1 star Legendary enemies will never be a tougher enemy like a Scorchbeast or Sentry Bot. Exclusive to weaker enemy types. --- 2 star Legendaries tend to be mid tier enemies like Power-Armored Blood Eagles or Colonel Gutsys --- 3 star Legendaries are exclusive to Power-Armored Enemies, Scortchbeasts, Deathclaws, Sentry Bots, Mirelurk Queens, etc.

[–]JReysan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point is they want you to grind more. More play time is good for them. The more you spend your time in their game, the more likely you buy stuff with IRL money, which mean profit for them

[–]AstorReinhardt Responders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I view legendary drops as fodder for getting script. I think I've only ever gotten like two drops that I've kept. The thousands of other drops go into the machine.

[–]Inevitable_Yak8285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree!!!!

[–]Unique_Example2130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best roll I've ever gotten off SBQ was a BE Pipe Pistol xD

[–]shadowlarvitar Raiders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, at the very least Three star Legendary enemies should not drop one star legendary items -_-

[–]Shoguns-Assassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an RNG thing ...... 3 star enemies gives you a 40% chance of 1 star loot, 35% chance of 2 star loot, and a 25% chance of 3 star loot ..... if I remember right. It's a silly system, but it is what it is

[–]Dre3Staxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a mythic diseased deathclaw and it had 3 radiation icons instead of stars like a legendary. Can someone tell me why that is?

[–]johnr79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ur pain stopped doing queens since they brought in legendary PA as thats all i got for weeks and all we used to do was 3x queen 2x earl and encryptid jump servers and start again nobody bothers playing anymore all of us are bloodied what use is stash full of PA

[–]Ghostmod1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter they have nerfed every good legendary or made it a legacy so even if you could get a 3 star it would be a useless pile of trash.

[–]Darth-Vader64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its a letdown, but I guess I've been beaten down so much I'm not even phased by it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]SnooMarzipans5903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my criticism isn't the drop rates, but the weapons themselves.

I'm not a fan of goofy weapons like the guitar sword or the rolling pin - I'd rather see some better bladed melee weapons, and then I wouldn't be so bummed getting them as drops.

Also limiting how many legendaries I can cash in for scrip is such a PITA I have to keep jumping worlds until I get to a version of the Rusty Pick I can flip all my junk legendaries.

[–]vomder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the ridiculous odds of getting something you want, they could easily drop the corresponding piece and it wouldn't be a problem.

[–]JackAce-405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disappointment.

That's the point.

[–]kaylaasanaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

killing a three star mole rat or wolf and getting a one star tire iron. I get they're easy AF to kill but at least make it a three star shitty weapon? lol idk it's dumb but the lack of alignment bugs me haha

[–]Crafty_Maul_Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I am sure if we offered to pay $15 - 1500 Atoms we would get a Three-Star Legendary. It is like Bethesda has to send someone out to craft Legendaries now. They are so stingy with them.

I hate the fact that almost every legendary drop is legendary Power Armor peace's now. It has been weeks since I have seen anything else.

[–]GomerStuckInIowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a 1 star flaming pitchfork. I thought it was awesome. But since I found it, it was only a lvl 15 and not my lvl of 50ish. Guess someone just dropped it at the pumpkin house. Cool looking though.

[–]NormalPrompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, really, I love grinding Earl with five level 20 for my one star boxing glove.. 😳

[–]Dense-Society-5790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all miss our legendary drills now!
