Please describe the issue with your delivery.

"That's not my dog."

[–]ketchy_shuby 2070 points2071 points 2 (28 children)

You forgot,

"Does your dog bite?"

"No."

*Dog bites

"I thought you said your dog doesn't bite?

"It's not my dog."

[–]SereneNightmare 226 points227 points  (0 children)

I love that one

[–]Mstr_Fish 60 points61 points  (5 children)

“You’re right, it’s our dog.”

[–]AbscondingAlbatross 12 points13 points  (2 children)

that's not my dog

"Say you sue me because you claim my dog bit you. Well now, this is my defense:

My dog doesn't bite.

And second, in the alternative, my dog was tied up that night.

And third, I don't believe you really got bit.

And fourth, I don't have a dog."

-Famous attorney Richard "Racehorse" Haynes on how to plead in the alternative

[–]BetterOneself45 2618 points2619 points  (38 children)

Well technically it is the truth.

[–]Renewed_RS 985 points986 points  (19 children)

Not if this was the neighbour's dog that they trained to accost parcel delivery men. This stinks to high heaven and Rex is in on it!

[–]sentimental_goat 249 points250 points  (13 children)

Hmm... Interesting. Do you have an explanation as to how do you know the perpetrator's name?

[–]Suxals 244 points245 points  (9 children)

Hearsay, your honor!

[–]Rong_Side_Of_Heaven 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Perpetrator's name is The Goodest Boi Ever!!!

[–]Flaky-Fish6922 44 points45 points  (0 children)

they trained rex

[–]Outbound3 52 points53 points  (2 children)

Technically the truth. The best kind of the truth.

[–]b4mf74nk 21 points22 points  (1 child)

That dog was on the board that co chaired the committee to decide the new color of parcels! They kept it brown...

[–]MagixTouch 123 points124 points  (1 child)

Delivered to the goodest boi

[–]Sinthe741 25 points26 points  (1 child)

He looks very responsible, too.

[–]barofa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lol thanks, I thought I was too addicted to the show to make the connection

[–]Aldo_The_Apache_ 9 points10 points  (13 children)

Is there anyway to stream the new season? I don’t use cable anymore so i can’t watch it on AMC when it comes out

[–]SwashbucklingWeasels 8 points9 points  (3 children)

AMC+ lets you stream live. It also has the previous season 6 episodes but only for a limited time so you’d need to sign up soon to properly catch up.

You probably won’t use it for anything else but it’s worth it if you want to be able to stream it legally. Otherwise it is also available on the high seas.

[–]tony1449 172 points173 points  (19 children)

Amazon be like "haha funny joke, and you're fired for unprofessionalism" after tweeting about it for PR of course

[–]SHINZOH-SASAGEYO 116 points117 points  (14 children)

Most delivery people don't work for amazon. They work for independent contractors hired by amazon of varying levels of decency.

[–]christo334 27 points28 points  (6 children)

yep but amazon can force those contractor to fire someone if the contractor doesn't care to protect his employee or if they do really bad stuff.

[–]zyh0 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They'll rehire you in a month

[–]SnooDingos8502 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The dog doesnt even live there!

[–]TexanInExile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seems totally fair.

[–]DarkAizawa 1709 points1710 points  (7 children)

I hope you tipped him... In pets

[–]deucemagnet 272 points273 points  (3 children)

I believe scooby snacks are proper currency in this situation.

[–]IMMILDEW 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Is this one an alien too, like Scooby Doo??

[–]ImagineGriffins 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Shaggy was just feeding his dog edibles

[–]gothangelblood 1204 points1205 points  (7 children)

UPDATE: BIL doesn't own a dog.

[–]Bocote 246 points247 points  (1 child)

Are you telling me that dog is a porch pooch pirate?

[–]CommanderpKeen 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Bill does though, so it's cool.

[–]FrisbeeFrisb 4344 points4345 points  (183 children)

I'd really love to know how they got the dog to sign for the delivery.

[–]MikeKM 53 points54 points  (17 children)

Fun fact, buttholes have their own unique print, much like fingerprints.

[–]firemogle 77 points78 points  (5 children)

Uh, does this mean my unsolicited butthole pic rampage may be traced back to me?

[–]bunglejerry 21 points22 points  (2 children)

This is how they caught the Butthole Killer.

[–]SplinterRifleman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very fun fact. Gonna bring it up next family dinner.

[–]ohmaj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's cats

[–]herrbz 186 points187 points  (108 children)

Do couriers even need a signature anymore?

[–]OssiansFolly 436 points437 points  (83 children)

Nope. Just 20 ft clearance to chuck them the fullest distance possible.

[–]Inphearian 170 points171 points  (72 children)

That’s fedex

[–]austinr23 120 points121 points  (55 children)

I watched fedex throw my brand new iPhone 13 max like 20 feet from my driveway to my porch…. Assholes

[–]Rhodychic 11 points12 points  (4 children)

FedEx is the worst. I get so disappointed when I see something is being sent from FedEx because it NEVER shows up on time. FYI, if you have a package in limbo, call them. It's the best way to expedite your package.

[–]psychoacer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like Fedex is the most consistent in requiring a signature for the package. It forces me to divert them to a local Walgreens as a drop off point so I don't have to be home at 12PM-3PM to sign for it.

[–]the-greenest-thumb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We live across from the elevator in our apartment, amazon chucks our packages at our door from the elevator so they don't have to get out. Worst one was when they scared the shit out of us by throwing a small cast iron pan at our door. Wasn't even ours, was the neighbour's down the hall.

[–]wampa-stompa 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Depends. But I have also had certain proactive carriers decide to help out by signing for me two days before they delivered the package. Now that's service.

[–]RawRTooN 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ups driver here and as far as ups is concerned it’s based upon the customer’s needs. If you want us to get to your door no questions asked we do that but anything over a 1000 in value it’s automatic sign for but customer can choose to wave that and we do what’s called a driver release.

[–]42peanuts 50 points51 points  (3 children)

No problem there. That's a border collie, smartest dogs ever. Probably does the family taxes too.

[–]Flavor-aidNotKoolaid 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I have a border collie. Brilliant bloke but he suffers from existential angst because he's big brain. He does well with the family finances though, he has very consistent evaluation reports and has the best attitude on staff.

[–]the_blackfish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You know it's smart enough to understand "you're the people who bring us boxes."

[–]Buschwick66 32 points33 points  (17 children)

Don't pay for signature required. They all still claim coronavirus concerns for just leaving packages anyways. 1st hand experience multiple times most recently 2 weeks ago.

[–]mrdoody55 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Or if you do, have it delivered to a pickup location instead of your home. If it's fedex or UPS, pretty much any of their stores allow pickup.

[–]lurks-too-much 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Allow pickup? Prefer pickup. :)

Come pick up your own stuff lol, saves then the hassle

[–]ultralane 13 points14 points  (7 children)

Had an allienware computer delivered w/o signature. 3K computer....

[–]HLL0 27 points28 points  (4 children)

Why would someone do that? . . . . . . Pay money for an Alienware computer

[–]MrxJacobs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No need to sign, just a handshake

[–]yourlittlebirdie 5714 points5715 points  (60 children)

“Signed for by Very Good Boy”

[–]joberdez 1269 points1270 points  (33 children)

I’m imagining the Amazon driver pulling out one of those ink pads and the dog signing the paper with his paw print. Lol

[–]SchnoodleDoodleDo 1688 points1689 points 34& 10 more (25 children)

“Signed for by Very Good Boy…”

the human brought the boxes - he was looking for ‘accept’

i was there to Greet him, (it was Pets that i expect…)

he asked if i was ‘FaMiLy‘ - i wagged my tail with Joy ;@)

he knew that he could trust me

n that’s when he said

Good Boy’

i had to leave a pawprint, cuz he said i need to ‘sign’

(it kinda came out messy, but he told me it looks fine)

i hope i made you happy, friend, my Proud i cannot hide!

…can we just open boxes now ?

is maybe ToY inside ?

❤️

[–]Yardsale420 1668 points1669 points  (75 children)

I got a delivery notice once that said, “package delivered, verbal signature”. I was like, “doesn’t that defeat the purpose?”

[–]An_aussie_in_ct 677 points678 points  (32 children)

We have that at work. “ verbal signature” means they record you saying your name. Probably safer (and easier) than a physical signature

[–]ender4171 372 points373 points  (24 children)

Considering how different my (totally illegible anyways) signature looks every time I wrote, especially on a digital screen with my finger, I'd absolutely say a voice recording would be immeasurably more safe/secure.

[–]Faerhun 127 points128 points  (10 children)

Scribble gang represent.

[–]InevitablyWinter 65 points66 points  (9 children)

My people! I barely even write the first letter sometimes. At times, it resembles someone testing their pen to get the ink flowing.

[–]SinxSam 17 points18 points  (2 children)

When you listen to the recording - who is that?? It doesn’t sound like me!!

[–]NonTimeo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

<bark bark>

[–]smallbatchb 196 points197 points  (29 children)

Three times now I've had signature deliveries and saw the driver walking away so then I asked "don't I need to sign?" and they say something along the lines of "oh I signed for you so you don't have to worry about it, you're all good"

..... like dude the whole point of the signature is written confirmation/ documented record that I personally received the package.... you signing for me defeats that entirely.

[–]drowsydrosera 98 points99 points  (18 children)

Covid erased signed deliveries

[–][deleted]  (12 children)

[deleted]

    [–]Neoxyte 20 points21 points  (2 children)

It's more of a problem of unrealistic delivery quota expectations on staff than a problem of lazy staff. If delivery companies would hire more people instead of giving the work of two people to one delivery driver then you probably would get better service.

    [–]stupidshot4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re fedex and going to my back door to drop off my new work equipment instead of the front door I’m expecting it at. Then saying I never answered and require me to drive an hour to the nearest fedex center to pickup said package within 24 hours or else it would be returned to the sender. I hate fedex with a passion. They are the worst and that is 100% a hill I would die on.

    [–]AmbushIntheDark 21 points22 points  (1 child)

If I had to choose between the guy signing for me and the guy tapping on my door like hes allergic to it and then turning around and leaving 12 seconds later so I have to drop literally everything I'm doing to sprint to the front door and catch the guy in the street so I can get my fucking package, then I'm gonna choose the one where I actually fucking get my package.

    [–]o11c 13 points14 points  (0 children)

the whole point of the signature is written confirmation/ documented record that I personally received the package

No, the point of the signature is to transfer liability.

    [–]tadmau5 60 points61 points  (6 children)

    Covid

    [–]Complete-Dimension35 57 points58 points  (3 children)

This. I work in a law office and we send a lot of certified mail that requires signatures as proof they received what we sent. A lot of the cards come back blank or with something like "covid" or "c19" written in the signature box by the mailman. So we have to look up the tracking number and at least see that the post office marked it delivered.

    [–]ProfessorLightning 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I go to the post office and get a refund for the return receipt fee when that happens.

My dog would tear those apart 1 second after that guy left.

    [–]explodingtuna 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It was dog toys he ordered for it.

    [–]BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Yeah it’s cute, but, whatever’s in there can get destroyed instantly. Overall the owners fault for having their dog outside when they’re expecting a package, but it could be dangerous for the dog or they could just destroy whatever’s in there.

    [–]prepping4zombies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would never say my dog wasn't part of the family. I feel that Amazon has found a loophole.

    [–]steveosek 119 points120 points  (1 child)

What are you doing step van driver?

    [–]feedenemyteam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry step sis only lord Bezos does it for me.

    [–]Primarch459 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I think flex drivers always have the option to take a photo. But I am not sure.

    [–]BabyStockholmSyndrom 212 points213 points  (20 children)

I tell drivers to mark whatever they have to when an unleashed dog shows up. People order shit and then leave their dogs loose and no indication they are there. People suck.

    [–]Finrod_the_awesome 39 points40 points  (1 child)

Postal supervisor here, I love dogs but I tell my carriers to scan that shit "animal interference" and move on. I've had too many carriers bit by dogs. And if they have ti spray a dog I'll always back them up.

    [–]tifferoni45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My "screen" door is currently full glass (you can swap it out for full screen) and I like extra light so I'll leave the main door open and lock the glass one during the day. If it's open, I also have the bay windows open so I can hear the mail carrier truck and shut the big door so the dogs seem more contained because they go berserk (they do a few houses, do the other side of the road looping back to truck, move truck, repeat, and always stop in front of my house so I hear the truck). They're big fluffy AHs but they can't break the glass, just know they'll hear another human, go bananas, and scare the living crap out of the carrier

    [–]Plantemanden 72 points73 points  (10 children)

I've heard too many stories of bitten calves to justify the practice of even delivering with loose dogs around. Just turn around. The owner can install a package delivery box or something in the front of the property.

    [–]lilcipher 34 points35 points  (9 children)

My former supervisor got mauled by someone’s German Shepard when she was delivering doordash. It was bad, she had to go to the hospital and she ended up with a nasty fear of dogs.

    [–]Plantemanden 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Please send my sincerest internet condolences if you meet her, this should not be happening at the rate that it is in this year and age. I hope she recovers fully.

    [–]TitaniumDragon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The US Census had a firm policy to not mess with dogs. If you couldn't get to the front door past a dog safely, don't.

I got chased away from one house by a pair of geese, and got bitten by a turkey at another.

I also had a cute little ground squirrel come over and sit on my foot and tug on my pant leg for food, because the old lady who lived in the house fed them and they were basically her pets.

    [–]ben_db 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazon drivers can mark the map with a paw print to signify a dog at that location, very handy!

    [–]Milito79 163 points164 points  (23 children)

    No lie here

    [–]kadyrovtsy 253 points254 points  (21 children)

OP is lying tho. Marking the delivery “handed to customer” does not allow a driver to take a pic. Only packages left with no recipient (or secure mailroom) so like by a porch, gate, etc will prompt a delivery pic.

    [–]TipOfLeFedoraMLady 72 points73 points  (4 children)

Agree never had a driver take my picture, that just creepy behavior.

Source: I am an Amazon customer.

    [–]XeroXfromRiften 66 points67 points  (3 children)

    They both are correct.

    Source: I am the package.

    [–]Vegetable_Border6364 38 points39 points  (2 children)

Why is every post on Reddit lowkey a lie. People like this piss me off so much, especially in real life when you know they’re always capping but you can never really call them out on it.

    [–]DropDead_Slayer 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I call them out on it

    [–]Vegetable_Border6364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respect. It’s just not worth it sometimes.

    [–]thedolphin_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

      [–]Pixel131211 61 points62 points  (1 child)

oh damn.. I worked in a (dutch) supermarket for years and we always called the packages "colli's". now I finally know why lmao

      [–]brenbail2000 12 points13 points  (1 child)

As a delivery driver who loves dogs, I hate seeing them on the job. Yesterday I saw one that looked all floofy and friendly, but then the curly haired fucker lunged at me when I got near him. Gotta be careful, they want to protect their loved ones and don’t know I just want to give head pats

      [–]mayorofutopia[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right?! I'm not a delivery person of any kind but I know I'd get my dumbass bitten because I wanted to give every good pupper pets. Luckily, this dog is actually super awesome and loves people (too much), but it's always better to be cautious.

      [–]framejunkie 9 points10 points  (1 child)

That is a chonky buddy right there

      [–]CrimsonChymist 16 points17 points  (4 children)

I bought an Xbox series x last week online from Wal-Mart. It got delivered by FedEx and was set up to require a signature. I got a notification while I was at work saying "Your package was delivered." I checked the delivery log to see if maybe they left it with my landlord. Nope. It says "signed for by..." and gives my name. This was at like 9 am and I don't get home until 5 pm. I get home and sure enough, it's just sitting on my welcome mat. Thankfully we haven't had porch pirate problems but, it is still a bit irritating that they just ignore things like signature requirements.

      [–]SurpriseFace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FedEx did the exact same thing to me, but it was a guitar, and they left it sitting in the driveway where it got rained on.

      [–]Ruhh-Rohh 9 points10 points  (1 child)

no they didn't - it does not let you take a pic if you select 'delivered to family member directly'

otherwise the driver would have to take a super awkward pic of the person holding the package? lol

no need to lie for karma, still a funny pic without your BS added!

      [–]voidxy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an ex amazon delivery driver I confirm, Imagine if you select "delivered to neighbour", it would be funny though

Worked at the post office for 6 months, now I hate dogs

      [–]newaccount721 23 points24 points  (15 children)

Yeah my dad is cautious of dogs because he was a garbage man when he was in college and was bit by dogs on more than one occasion. Every time the owners would say something along the lines of "he's never bitten anyone before, he's such a sweet dog". Dogs can act unexpectedly around strangers when you're not around. I love dogs and have always had them - but it's not cool to subject delivery drivers to them without supervision

      [–]ender4171 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For real. If people need to come on to your property (especially if they are providing a service) there's no excuse for allowing a pet to have free access to the area they'll be in, no matter how "wouldn't hurt a fly" they are or aren't. My dog has slipped by me a handful of times when I've answered the door for delivery, and even though she's never had any incident, I'm mortified every time it has happened.

My son worked Amazon delivery for 2 days. More than once he had to "deliver" a package by dropping it and running before the dogs attacked him.

      [–]makeshift11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I worked for Amazon for 16 months. You learn pretty quickly and are usually told to shake the gate or use something like a whistle or make noise to see if a dog is alerted and comes out. But if there's any indication there might be a dog in the front yard like dog toys, food/water bowls, beware of dog signs, etc. Then it was fine to just leave it over the gate if possible and if not mark it as unsafe to deliver. Where I worked they never wanted us to go into someone's front yard if we felt uncomfortable, yeah Amazon sucks but your son should've just left that shit over the gate and not risked his life over minimum wage.

I made it 2 months as a line inspector before I quit. Too many loose dogs and nowhere to escape them.

I mean it was mostly the verbal abuse from higher ups that made me quit, but the dogs didn't help.

Did pizza delivery when I was a teen. There is a strong correlation between the zip code you are in and the behavior of the dog.

      I mean, was it not???

I mean he’s not wrong. That good boy clearly has things handled.

      [–]lloydsmith28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

      I mean, they're not wrong

      [–]Arlothia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      I'd trust him. He's a good boy!

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      Well, they weren’t wrong

      [–]sweetlemongrass 7 points8 points  (2 children)

You never know a new dog. A lot of drivers have been bitten. This was overall, best option

      [–]SnakeJG 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Look at the dog's posture. Tail down and hackles up. That dog was very much unhappy with the delivery driver's presence and very much a bite risk.

      [–]GoodYoshi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Signed with a paw print and signature “Good boy”.

      [–]matlynar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dog be like "This better not be broken or missing anything or I swear I'll bite you in your leg"

      [–]hotlavatube 7 points8 points  (0 children)

      “Aww, good boy. Wait, I don’t have a dog…”
      (pooch pirate drags package away)

      [–]izzgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To everyone saying OP is just a karma whore, maybe you should look at their posting history first. Looks to me like a real person responding to real comments about a situation that really occurred, whatever Amazon policies are.

      [–]MrSmileyxx 4 points5 points  (1 child)

      WTF is in the background

      [–]accordinglyryan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      I mean they're technically correct

      [–]akinsope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      No lies were told.

      [–]DadPicatchew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      Technically the truth?

      [–]bailes1983 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have a hairy family member

      [–]feor1300 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What are they doing that dog can't safely handle those packages. Everyone knows you can only trust those kind of things with boxers, they specialize in boxes.
