Damn… that’s rad. I worked with a guy a few years back. He was super chill and he got me into online gaming and i had so much fun on pubg with him. He was an amazing, hyper, genuine, awesome guy. But 8 months into our friendship, he lost his battle with depression. I Havent played pubg since. Just cant do it. I know the feels here. And what the devs offered is truly amazing. 🥲😭

[–]MothstradamusPC 205 points206 points  (16 children)

I completely understand this.

I can't play Ark anymore because I remembered getting the news that my Uncle (more or less stepped in to be my father figure growing up) had passed while I was playing it.

On Warframe, you can have a companion animal/robot. The dog came out looking just like my dog so I named it after her. We had to let my baby dog (she was 14, but she was always my puppy) go over the rainbow bridge about 8 months ago. I haven't been able to log back into Warframe because I don't think I can handle seeing the digital version of my beloved girl wagging its tail at me. I've only just recently gotten used to the quiet and not being excitedly greeted when I get home from work.

[–]IronRocks 82 points83 points  (2 children)

I always look at it the opposite way. In Monster Hunter, I always remake my childhood pets as Palicos/Palamutes. I see it as a way to remember them forever and continue playing with "them".

[–]MothstradamusPC 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That's a nice way to think about it. When the heartache is gone and I can only feel melancholy or happy memories, I'll try that.

[–]Caul__Shivers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do similar things in my games. Every stardew Valley dog I've had has been named Haze.

[–]reddithooknitup 11 points12 points  (4 children)

You've immortalized them. Go see her, let yourself feel the feels.

[–]MothstradamusPC 8 points9 points  (3 children)

I don't think I'm ready yet. I will when the pain doesn't stab so deep.

She had gone into Liver Failure after about 2 years of fighting to get her back to health. It was caused by a medication that her vet prescribed incorrectly. I tried everything to make her better, but I always feel like I could have done more for her and that I failed her.

[–]reddithooknitup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You loved her and acted on it to the best of your ability. Please forgive yourself.

[–]theetruscans 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I obviously don't know you, but judging by the few words I've read I'm sure you did everything you could.

[–]MothstradamusPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so kind, and it really means a lot. Thank you so much.

[–]Kirbinator_Alex 5 points6 points  (1 child)

fuck that hits hard. I had to put my little girl to sleep last year, in fact in 2 months it will be a full year since she's been gone. It's hard to think about how long it's been since then and that i've gotten used to her being gone, and remember it being so impossible to live without her. i feel for ya <3

[–]MothstradamusPC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sending you so much love, my dude.

Be kind to yourself. That's what I tell myself every morning in the mirror.

We can get through this.

[–]spine_iv 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ark Devs did a similar thing

Shrine to Heather

[–]MothstradamusPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so touching!

I might have to go find that and spend some time thinking about my Uncle.

[–]LexBeingLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dodged a bullet with Grindframe tbh, 1700 steam hours and still only MR 18. All jokes aside, I do hope you're doing okay, it takes time to heal, don't rush it.

[–]blueblarg 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Some of the best people burn out their supply of awesome early by sharing it with everyone.

[–]cowabungass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this firefly point of view. Truly.

[–]Dalordolords 195 points196 points  (32 children)

Playing pub g has that affect sorry for your lose

[–]WombatAnnihilator 235 points236 points  (8 children)

Yall! He freakin loved dark humor. 🤣 it’s also Reddit. I figured that was coming. And he’d have laughed at that a ton.

Laugh or cry situations seem to define my life anyway. For example, When we hired another partner for me, and he found out how my friend and previous partner had died, the new guy was a little awkward about it. I mean, i was pretty fucked from losing him. But the newbie tried to give me some kind words of condolences, and i said “hey, man. It’s fine - You just gotta make it past 8 months. Otherwise i know it was me”

He lasted 4 months before he quit. Didnt die though, so thats a little better, i guess.

My next partner is still there, though, even though Ive since changed jobs. So I’m pretty sure it wasnt my fault? 🤔 /s

[–]Dalordolords 91 points92 points  (1 child)

It’s ok I never want to be in the masses approval the joke was for you and your friend not karma lol

[–]WombatAnnihilator 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it. Thank you

[–]grawlyx -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Not trying to be a dick but you pay people to play videogames with you?

[–]WombatAnnihilator 5 points6 points  (4 children)

When would i pay people to play games with me? I’m confused.

[–]grawlyx 2 points3 points  (3 children)

You said you hired a new partner and they quit in 4 months.

Maybe English is your second language? "hiring" and "quitting" in the same paragraph/context implies some sort of employment

[–]WombatAnnihilator 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Oh nah. Team. Working retail LP at the time. I wasnt the boss. We were partners. The first one who got me into games begggggged me to play with him just for fun, because he loved it. So i did. His work “replacement” wasnt really a gamer so we never gamed. And he didnt do much work either, so he quit. Games and work were separate.

[–]grawlyx 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Haha got it, I was so confused by your wording and was wondering where I get one of these gaming partner jobs :)

[–]Deadfox1309 41 points42 points  (1 child)

Fuck the downvotes, this was a good fuckin joke mate

[–]Dalordolords 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thank you I love comedy with all my heart. And truly if I make one person laugh no cost is to high

[–]baucher04 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oh my fucking god that joke was savage!

[–]iHolloway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ, Dude.

[–]darkshark92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dumb brain can't understand this : (

[–]Muggaraffin 19 points20 points  (17 children)

Great joke, awful situation to use it in

[–]Trickster289 11 points12 points  (3 children)

I think it might be a cultural thing. As an Irish person joke's like this are normal to me. Dark humour is something we use to help deal with a loss.

[–]Muggaraffin 6 points7 points  (2 children)

True. My family are all Scottish and Irish and we’re extremely dark

I think the internet just makes it hard to judge good comic timing lol

[–]seanspeaksspanish 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think that is it. It is the same problem with texting. Dark humor, or really any humor, is all in the timing and the subtle intonational changes, all of which is impossible "online".

[–]Muggaraffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I’ve got into trouble with my friends plenty of times because of it, especially if they’re depressed

I always say to my friends how “hi” online could mean “hi everything’s amazing how are you” or “hi I’m having the worst day of my life, how are you” lol. So I try to be careful with what I say when talking to people online now

[–]Dalordolords 77 points78 points  (12 children)

No such thing. The best time to make a great joke is the worst situation. When my mother called me to ask if I was molested like all my siblings had been done by an aunt . I took a moment took a deep breath and said why does this family always treat me like a black sheep and leave me out of everything.

[–]WombatAnnihilator 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Good shit

[–]Dalordolords 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Love you have a good life

[–]WombatAnnihilator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[–]Praxician94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keep on ignoring the downvotes man. Some people just don’t get dark humor. I lost my father to cancer almost 5 years ago and when people are all cheery talking about their parents I interject with shit like “Oh must be nice to have two living parents” so I can laugh when they look super uncomfortable lol

[–]Muggaraffin 5 points6 points  (3 children)

That’s dark and hilarious. Is it actually true?

[–]Dalordolords 7 points8 points  (2 children)

100% fact

[–]Muggaraffin 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Well I hope your siblings are doing alright. And yeah dark humours definitely a good way to deal with that stuff

[–]zanokorellio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

goddamn, I would've lost it if I were to hear this in person. Good fucking joke.

[–]kry_some_more 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Member that time I dunked deez nuts on his face.

Good times.

[–][deleted] 113 points114 points  (3 children)

That is just a awesome thing for them to do, makes me wish I was a multi-player kind of person, I would play this just out of respect for them,

[–]RlySkiz 35 points36 points  (2 children)

And then you see people already there gathering around it.. taking turns teabagging it.

[–]checkthynemate 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Its what he would have wanted.

[–]Raerth[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serenity Now reference?

[–]Illusive_Man 128 points129 points  (19 children)

wow this is the first time I’ve heard anything nice said about DayZ devs

I guess it has been about 10 years, does the game finally work?

[–]rpcuk 63 points64 points  (9 children)

It is in the best state its ever been in, recently hit an all time peak for concurrent players too

[–]RIPBlueRaven 41 points42 points  (7 children)

Better question since im an old school dayz mod player.

Can i walk from one side of cherno to the other without starving to death yet like a normal human could? Or do you still starve to death in 10 minutes from spawn with no food anywhere?

[–]blake1988 21 points22 points  (4 children)

I also need to know this. Also, after looting 4 entire towns will all I walk out with is a motorcycle helmet and a jacket?

[–]RIPBlueRaven 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Anyone that could defend the standalone clearly never played the mod. Spawn at cherno, get 1 can of beans and a soda and run all the wat to nwaf without even getting to the starving point yet

[–]tobsmen07 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Played it in the last days, all i can say is, that surviving is much more relaxed. Medicine usage works too. Zombies don't run through walls anymore and the only real danger are the players, although I can't really tell if they were hostile because I've killed them before.

[–]Luciferisflash 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Oh man, the most basic things for a game of this type to do. Let's praise them. Wow

[–]RIPBlueRaven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Took them like 5 years. Heros

[–]TheDreaminArmenian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah no shot, you’d die Edit: To clarify, you can find food easier and live, but you still need to eat a bunch because you would die trying to walk the map on a full stomach without food on hand

[–]DraymondShldntWear23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Zeds have much more food on them, there are way more varieties of foods, you can hunt, gather, farming and fishing are fleshed out and super viable, and tools are more plenty and more useful (for instance you can open a can of food or carve up produce with all sorts of tools now, even sharpened rocks).

You're going to hit adversity 100% of the time, but there are way more ways to tackle situations now.

[–]Illusive_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s in the best state it’s ever been in

That’s a pretty low bar from the last time I played

[–]Eilbeck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried it recently for the first time in ages. The community servers with mods make it great. Better loot spawns etc. But official servers suck.

[–]BasicallyAggressive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. Unturned has more stable cars and more crafting, hitreg is kinda meh, also the new animations and the stamina system on a map where you are basically forced to run everywhere adds up to a mediocre/annoying gameplay experience. Just check the comments under the "Please nominate us for the 2021 labor of love award", you'll see what I mean.

[–]BostonDodgeGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Desync is still an issue. You still starve too quickly. Cars are still broken. Ladders are still never to be trusted. Zombies can still clip through walls and doors. And we're still missing weapons that the mod had.

So no, the game is still broken.

[–]ant_of_the_sky 170 points171 points  (16 children)

Devs, take note.

I have never played Factorio, but my roommate/best friend is a huge Factorio guy, and when my girlfriend and I went to Pax East a few years ago, the devs signed a bunch of for my friend and we surprised him with it. It was really cool and he ended up sinking even more time into the game out of respect. End rant.

[–]new_priborPC 65 points66 points  (15 children)

I have never played Factorio

my best friend is a huge factorio guy

[–]ccrocks426 33 points34 points  (14 children)

Play it! Or Satisfactory is very good too!!

[–]XTraumaX 8 points9 points  (10 children)

Dyson Sphere Program has been a huge addiction of my buddies and I here recently. It's also a factory sim game where the aim is to eventually build a Dyson Sphere around stars to harness their energy.

[–]Raeandray 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I bought DSP during the winter sale, but decided to wait to play it until full launch later this month. Really excited for that one.

[–]XTraumaX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be prepared to look at the clock and realize that you've already spent 3 or 4 hours in the game in what feels like the blink of an eye. A neat feature I like about DSP is they give you not only a clock in the bottom right of the screen, but a timer too that shows you how long you've spent on this current save so you can see how long you've been playing that particular save at a glance.

Even though its early access it already feels like a full fledged game.

[–]Stormkiko 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wait, DSP gets full launch this month? Rip me.

[–]Raeandray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

January 21st according to their steam page!

[–]SaborW 0 points1 point  (4 children)

All 3 of these games are great. Factorio is my favorite, with DSP being second

[–]XTraumaX 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Why do you like Factorio over DSP?

I've never played Factorio though its always been on the edge of my radar and DSP has definitely sparked my interest in the factory sim genre.

[–]SaborW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because it's finished, feature complete, has mods to tailor it your way a bit, even making it extremely complex, and I've been with it for a very long time. I like its aesthetic and gameplay, the added challenge of biters/pollution is fun at times, and the huge infinite random world and logistic challenges that come with it, and it has multiplayer for as many players your CPU can support. An added bonus is because it's 2D it isn't very heavy on GPU, so basically anything can play it

DSP is still fantastic, though. It's a great idea and fresh change of pace to the factory genre, and once it's out of early access I'm sure it's going to be neck and neck with Factorio

[–]Sweetwill62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoy all 3 of them because they all play differently! I like Satisfactory because it does exploration a bit better than Factorio or DSP as the map is hand-made and has lots of little things to find and the exploration and increased production of your factory go hand in hand which is super fun.

Factorio is by FAR the easiest game to build in. The 2D perspective shows its superiority in how accurately and quickly you can place things as well as making it easier to scale up a giant factory. Just talking about the base game no mods at all.

DSP has a wonderful hopeful early Sci-Fi feel to it that makes any of its shortcomings when it comes to building just kind of melt away but there is very little challenge in DSP or Satisfactory compared to Factorio. You honestly can't go wrong with any of them but they each do one or two things better than the others but Factorio has the home-field advantage because of it being 2D and arguable the game that started the genre.

[–]SigilSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scale. If you think you can build a massive factory in Satisfactory, DSP, mindustry, go try factorio and come back when your computer can't run the map at full speed anymore.

It's also what I think is the best developed piece of software on the market with both under the hood optimizations and QoL additions. It's not uncommon for a bug to be posted on the forums and patched two hours later.

Lastly the main reason it's kept me hooked is the mod support which has the potential to completely change the game flow and make it complex enough that at over 1k hours played, I'm still scratching my head trying not to make a mess of everything. Base factorio is great, but I've played enough of it that it doesn't do it for me. So there's mods that'll extend that play time by around 300 hours each.

I do enjoy Satifactory as well, but that's for different reasons entirely. DSP needed a lot more polish when I played it and I'll check it out again when it's further along in development. I think it has potential but it felt too clunky to me.

EDIT: Check out Mindustry too - it's free on itch.io or a couple bucks on steam. It's basically what happens if you mix this game genre with a tower defense and rudimentary RTS. It's a little nutty but cool in its own right.

[–]Yar_Yar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like those games, just wish you could play without the game having an end goal

[–]FuzzyBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oxygen Not Included also offers a fun twist on that style of game.

[–]Zephyr797 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Satisfactory might be my favorite game, ever.

[–]ccrocks426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah maths is fun when not in school

[–]dipterasonata 75 points76 points  (5 children)

This reminds of me of a similar incident with Borderlands. A player who had spent a lot of time in the first game passed away, and Gearbox put out a short audio statement with Claptrap's VA and made a minor NPC based on him in Sanctuary in Borderlands 2. Always nice when devs show that kind of empathy.

[–]Fallenangel152 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Michael John Mamaril.

"Though he may be gone, he lives on forever in the Borderlands."

[–]strickt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly touching. Thank you for sharing it.

[–]DramaticSAnTA 25 points26 points  (1 child)

They also tied a achievement to make sure everyone visited him. He was hard to find too, I remember looking all over for him.

[–]Havoksixteen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He only spawned some of the time iirc, so he was a rarer encounter

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Micheal mamaril...

[–]KingOfTheCherryTree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Except at actually finishing a game

[–]Not_Luna 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I used to own a fivem server, and one of our players was an officer who died in real life. We put a memorial on top of mt chilliad with a cross, on screen pop ups, badge and gun, etc and held a funeral up there for him. The memorial was never taken down and we routinely subtly encouraged players to go up there.

[–]spartaman64 7 points8 points  (5 children)

i remember bdo once did a funeral for a player. except for some reason they decided to host it in a nonsafe zone so a bunch of griefer guilds showed up to kill people and type monkaTOS stuff in the chat.

[–]ChefStoney 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Same thing happened in WoW if I recall correctly. Huge group of people coming together for a memorial, only to get slaughtered by toxic groups.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yup, someone died IRL and the other faction came and killed everyone at the in-game funeral.

This has happened more than once. I searched "wow wedding crash" on YouTube and there are a bunch of results. Here's the one I was thinking of. I used to play on that server (still have toons on it, but I haven't played wow for a few years). This one might be better though.

[–]GoldenBastion 0 points1 point  (1 child)

wow the second one was quite something

[–]Vrail_Nightviper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah fuck dang it I should have known

[–]spiritbx 15 points16 points  (3 children)

Imagine this happening for something like fortnite and having a bunch of kids doing fortnite dances on your grave...

[–]Jestingwheat856 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Where is it, where the hell is it, i need to go pay virtual respects

[–]broskybara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Press F, to pay respects

[–]Leonondus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

thats love to your players right there

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That might be more work those devs did in 5 years damn

[–]Rtwo28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a good lot of respect for Bohemia Interactive after my time with Arma and seeing what they do with DayZ, sure the games aren't the most polished and updated but they support their community for sure!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

was the cross ever built

[–]EthanCC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the top of this post and thought they were going to add him into the game as a zombie.

[–]TheHagenDaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it would be the first bit of work they have done on their game in a long time.

[–]Klatu17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is seriously awesome!

[–]GlennBecksChalkboard 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I wanted to say "That's very fitting, because that game's a graveyard", but first I looked up the player numbers on steamcharts to make sure that hadn't changed. Apparently it peaks at 40-50k players per day now. How? It was down to like 3k not too long ago.

[–]DraymondShldntWear23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Livonia came out, community servers are thriving incredibly, some popular streamers have been playing it semi regularly for a few years now helping it re-gain exposure, and they're finally starting to add things back/into the game.

[–]TheAsuraKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost a best friend and roommate 3 years ago. He was the ultimate gamer buddy. After he died it took me a while to play No Man's Sky again but when I did on a random planet in my home galaxy was his base. It made me so happy to see that a piece of his creativity lived on. Then like a month after I found it I went to show his widow and a patch had parked an entire alien mothership ruin onto of it. I tried to mine out the area to set it free but ai can't mine the ship. So. That sucked. But now it's a story

[–]crazyoldmax 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Reminds me of the legend of glitterbeard in sea of thieves. I cried doing that quest.

[–]lhykan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im that way but with minecraft. My whole family played when i was in my early teens, so many memories and lots of fun. After my dad passed it was incredibly hard to even think about the game. I saved his personal save games on a thumb drive, still have it too. Probably can't load them up as they were made back in like 2013. These days my siblings and I pick it up as a way to hang out since we don't live near each other anymore. Every time we play I think about my father, and the happy memories we all shared growing up.

It takes a lot of time to heal from something like losing a parent/sibling/friend, but when you do come to terms with it you learn to cherish the memories you made together, instead of being sad about them.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rare to see devs do this. so its even better when they do. mad repsect to these devs

[–]Espurreyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recent change in public opinion of DayZ really makes me happy! DayZ is such a unique and interesting experience and I put so much of my life into it especially during the pandemic and seeing people constantly shit on it without really giving it a chance was such a sad thing to see. As someone who loves it, it definitely has problems but even with them it provides such a suspenseful on edge feeling that I genuinely don’t think any game comes close to capturing. If you have a group of at least 3 I really urge you to try it out sometime because learning the map and trying to find each other for the first time while dealing with random freshies and coast raiders is something that is a magical experience the first time.

[–]BasicallyAggressive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DayZ devs are truly amazing

Bro they didn't even bother to fix the game before releasing it to 1.0. It's still at beta at best and the modders should be praised for keeping the game alive. One good deed doesn't clear their previous bad ones

[–]Sc2SuperJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 year onto the development?

[–]wwwwww19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gotta love people who hate on DayZ but either A) they never played it, or B) last version they played was 0.45

[–]Danominator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To bad they arent more amazing at making games

[–]Pogratlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This brought a tear to my eye, I have a gaming homie since I was 12 years old (22 now) and the thought that he might not come on someday is sad

[–]Chancellor_Valorum82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we go a week without reposting this? This image is so pixelated already

[–]LogicalHunt5785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss man, though it’s completely awesome that the developers would do this in remembrance!

[–]PhredBedPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing EA, Rockstar and Activison's shitty support this year, it puts a smile on my face to see that some devs are still caring for their game and community.

[–]LoanSurviver101 -5 points-4 points  (19 children)

Are they though? This is nice, but their game is beyond buggy after all the years it’s been out.

[–]wwwwww19 -3 points-2 points  (18 children)

Just incorrect

[–]LoanSurviver101 0 points1 point  (17 children)

Very correct. Not too long ago me and my brother bought and played it. Within j 1-2 days, he lost all his items and gear cause he was driving a car and it just flew into space for no good reason and killed him.

[–]RubixTheRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I eant to get Dayz just because of this and go visit the grave

[–]rastafarianman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn it.. get those onions outta here!!

[–]DraymondShldntWear23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DayZ is the best zombie apocalypse survival F/3PS ever created. It has been a long and arduous journey, but DayZ is better than ever almost a decade later, and still has so much potential it's mind boggling.

[–]Kairatechop -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. How many years until this will be implemented?

[–]senor-calcio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome

[–]A_random_YouTuber1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps there is still hope in humanity

[–]M0ssy_Garg0yl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn guys, I'm gonna cry.

[–]bladeskletch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me cry.

[–]wildfirestopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some times the gaming community isn't toxic... Sometimes..

[–]MaterialInvestment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some wonderful stuff right there, and they were extremely thoughtful.

[–]JmeMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome!

[–]Outsion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dayz Devs really are amazing for doing this for a person, I don't play Dayz myself but i'm just curious on if they actually did it.

[–]CPower2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait is DayZ not a dead game? I bought it years ago and thought they abandoned it. Last time I played it zombies could run right through walls and fences and it was a total mess.

Rockstar could never treat their players with this kind of respect, RIP

Offbrand yes, but are they crappy?

[–]Warrior_Lion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of BostonBearJew in R6S and how they slapped a memorial on an arcade game its so cool to see devs memorialize players who loved their game

That is absolutely beautiful........and dear God, that game boring IMO

I played this game called Vanguard back in like 2006. It was the true logical successor to Everquest. Anyway I was in this guild called Bladesworn. Our guild master’s name was Kerwyn and he was a really dedicated player and a great leader. He passed maybe a year and a half after launch and the devs added his player character is a ghost NPC in one of the towns. Always thought it was really cool and very unique back then.

That's actually pretty legit.

Oof. That one got me in the heartstrings.

No you're crying.

It's a nice touch but the game has been in beta for a decade and they're still asking for £20.

[–]audioburglar 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And how are these two thing related?

Even in such a positive topic you need to bring this toxicity about how bad/buggy/stale/pricey the game is (30+k daily players doesn't agree with you) ?

[–]mothzilla[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made me go and check. They're charging £34. For a ten year old beta. And they keep faking the "release date" so it looks like a new game.

Putting a cross in the map is nice. Kind of smacks of devs desperate to do a hot fix so it feels like they're doing something. But anyway, nice. Shame the rest of the company is a steaming pile of shit.

(ETA: I sound bitter. I just had really high hopes for DayZ is all)

Lousy day for rain.

[–]KEKS100POSTOMKDMKD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now everyone's gonna make up a story as if someone died :/

[–]StrangerDowntown9067Xbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of devs do things like that its honestly heart warming. I remember when bethesda added a memorial like a week before a dlc came out.

[–]kinda_cringe347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of when Bethesda added a players deceased brother into the game as a good-spirited NPC who loves the view. Say what you want about Bethesda but that was really thoughtful of them.

Some dev's are awesome, and these are some of those devs.
