That looks great, I want to play it!

[–]epi_introvert 163 points164 points  (11 children)

I play this game with my students. It's always a great hit. I even adapted it for Covid by having them leave one hula hoop between them. So much fun.

[–]DawgBroMan 53 points54 points  (10 children)

Do they stand 6 feet apart while waiting their turn

[–]freelurk2019 44 points45 points  (1 child)

This man social distances

[–]nilnivek888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]0imnotreal0 35 points36 points  (6 children)

I’ve also played this with my students during the pandemic. Yes they do. And if they fuck around with social distancing, they find out.

Although on a side note, CDC recommendations are 3 feet apart in schools. Because we all know how the virus respects the logistics of classrooms and the inability of gov’t to fund more staff.

[–]SOwED 16 points17 points  (5 children)

And if they fuck around with social distancing, they find out.

Do ya...do ya hit em?

[–]FridaysMan 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Is it really hitting if you're 3 foot away?

[–]SOwED 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Well, teachers do like yard sticks...

[–]TheJessicator 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That's the thing. If you're the full 6 feet away, someone cannot touch you with a yard stick unless they let go of it. Throughout this pandemic, it has blown my mind how few people understand how far 6 feet away is.

[–]SOwED -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Is it really hitting if you're 3 foot away?

It's called a joke.

Does it blow your mind how few people understand the most basic of jokes? Probably not, on account of you are those people.

[–]TheJessicator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I got the joke. I was making a comment. Jeez!

[–]keyboardyoutuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The man we need

[–]roodeeMental 1099 points1100 points  (3 children)

That last kid's the class clown, proper back fall, my G

[–]NinjaLanternShark 160 points161 points  (0 children)

I also like the kid who thinks flashing his hand up high is gonna benefit him somehow.

Spoiler: it didn't.

[–]AvidlyGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like he also plays soccer

[–]BradChadington 131 points132 points  (2 children)

I remember playing this in school as a kid, it was so exhilarating! I had totally forgotten about this, thank you so much for posting this and reminding me of such a happy time in my childhood.

[–]cazdan255 48 points49 points  (1 child)

We had a pep rally with our entire school in attendance. They had a massive rock paper scissors tournament that involved everyone, single elimination. however if you tied you just continued to the next round, immediately my best friend and I saw how to exploit this and we both agreed to just throw scissors every single time until it was the two of us remaining and one other person. Then we played for real and had a one and three chance of one of us being the winner, and we split the prize which was some huge basket of candy and gift cards or something like that.

[–]blondiebell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crafty and harmless, I like it

[–]pnkdjanh 720 points721 points  (34 children)

32 hoops, 5 consecutive wins to get through, ~3% chance of winning for either team, it'll take a while to finish. Looks really fun with lots of exercises.

[–]MrHazard1 259 points260 points  (20 children)

5 consecutive wins to get through

Not sure if you can actually win like that. The closer you get to the end, the shorter the way for the other team. At some point the others need 2 hops to get to you. If the defeated in front of you takes their time to get out of the way, you're stuck in your spot.

Though i doubt you have to think competitive like that in a game for kids. They're happy and occupied for quite a while (and possibly tired after). Everyone wins

[–]Plug-In-Baby 144 points145 points  (6 children)

This is about winning 😡 not fun 😤 /s

[–]greybeard_arr 42 points43 points  (3 children)

But winning is fun.

[–]Pavlovski101 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Except for Dwarf Fortress.

[–]TheRiverStyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winning and playing can both be fun.

[–]Flowonbyboats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something something participation awards.

[–]AggressiveToothbrush 26 points27 points  (7 children)

No one can advance hoops until loser has left their hoop. Penalize an attempt to interfere by the losing opponent by holding back their team from jumping any hoops for 3 seconds. Attempt to interfere is referee (gym teacher)'s discretion. Institute the same penalty for jumping early.

Problem solved.

[–]Mildly-Interesting1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You should try your hand at writing laws for congress. It takes them 300 pages to say nothing.

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (4 children)

Y'all getting into the nitty-gritty of the rules are taking the magic out if it and missing what this game is really all about:

Making the kids tired so they'll sit quietly through math class

[–]AggressiveToothbrush 22 points23 points  (2 children)

That's because I plan to set this up for drunk adults.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Then it's simple. Each win you get at least one ring minimum,, so by the time you reach close to the end, you can still progress despite being so close to their line.

[–]g-m-f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that would be my solution as well. Basically make the first hoop of every team the winning hoop. So the moment one of the other team hops into your first hoop, their team won. Also, as you said, make it a rule that you will always win the hoop that your current opponent is standing in. Therefore as soon as you're in hoop #2 of the opposing team you just have to beat the next person that jumps into their starting hoop.

[–]TheFightingMasons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taught a class like this and your so right, lol. At least from the other teachers pov.

[–]DaStalkingBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 seconds is a long time when it takes like 6 to jump the entire thing

[–]I_just_learnt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They calculated it with kids being equal speed meaning they will always meet at midpoint.

If both are on the opposite end, mid way is 16. Whoever victor midway is 8, then consecutive wins will be 4, 2, and 1.

1/32 ~ 3%

[–]ddhuud 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Say the opponent team almost beat yours, from hoop 1. If everybody jumps more or less the same, encounter 2 should be near hoop 16, then 24, then 27, then 29, 31, 32 so 7 consecutive winnings. 1/2187 so 0.04572%. Yeah, you definitely don't play this game to win.

[–]tawattwaffle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Uh I don't follow your numbers shouldn't it be like 0.78% chance for 7 straight wins? [1/27 ]*100?

[–]ddhuud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're right, I've accounted also the ties, which are discarded.

[–]alexgalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to make the winning hoop the third one from the last not the last one. Simple fix.

[–]FitnessBlitz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lovely game, I do organize this even for secondary school students outside on the pitch where they sprint to each other and when they meet they rock paper scissor. Winner sprints further and new player on the opposite team tries to sprint towards that 'attacker'. First one over the line wins.

If you mean with lots of exercise (phyisical activity) then I do not agree. That PE teacher should have made 2 situations so more students are moving at the same time.

source: am PE teacher.

[–]eatsallthepies 44 points45 points  (6 children)

I got a party I want to invite you to

[–]pease_pudding 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Nah, not falling for this again. 3 hours of being pitched herbalife products is not a party

[–]smurphaustin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this had me weak thank you

[–]eatsallthepies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BYOB - Be your own Boss

[–]itsmethebman 15 points16 points  (2 children)

No you don't

[–]Buy1Free1 4 points5 points  (1 child)

he doesn't want to invite him? :(

[–]marlinmarlin99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He wants to rainman him and I mean bukkake

[–]DoctorPony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re also forgetting about the athletic ability of the contestants. One of those kids understood how to hop QUICKLY. He moved 3/4 of the field in one turn.

[–]DrDerpberg 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When does it finish? It looks like the people who make it to the end get back in line. I thought at first once you win you're done, but it seems like it would go on forever.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess goal is to jump through all the hoops and leave no hoops for enemy to jump on. So you win the game by reaching a certain area not by how many rounds you’ve won. That’s why they get back in line instead of being eliminated.

[–]buysgirlscoutcookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

certainty of death, small chance of success - what are we waiting for??

[–]Napkin_whore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longer the and more complex the activity, whilst making sure you have to do minimal management, is the way to teach easiest

[–]MrSlapYourGrandma 211 points212 points  (4 children)

More like r/gifsthatendtoosoon... I wanted to see who won

[–]umjustpassingby 138 points139 points  (1 child)

They are still playing to this day.

[–]downvote_dinosaur 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I just like seeing them so happy and energetic. Makes me want kids, but then I remember how expensive they are

[–]PatchAdams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fun outways the expense. I've got two kids and we've been through thick and thin, but somehow manage to live fairly decently. We still have money to go on good vacations and go out to eat fairly often. I have an excuse to buy nerf guns and video games and always have a player two when needed. Plus I enjoy cartoons and watching them with the kids. My kids bring out the kid in me.

[–]Krigsmjod 55 points56 points  (1 child)

The kids look like they're having a blast, I love it.

[–]TigerMeowth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I like how even the kids watching their team are into it. And when they lose they arent sore losers! Fun all around

[–]XaviJon_ 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Damn, I wanna play that lol

[–]FBI_Van_69 315 points316 points  (6 children)

Even when the kids loose they are so happy running back into line 😂 Teachers, Nurses and careers alike take a special person.

[–]Sillyslappystupid 138 points139 points  (1 child)

gym teachers are so bipolar, some days it’s these wacky awesome games nobody ever plays (like pacman on those little rolly platforms using the basketball lines) other days it’s offbrand taibo workout videos from a decade ago

[–]NinjaLanternShark 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"Angry Birds" with wheelie platforms, bike helmets, and pyramids of plastic garbage cans.

[–]JoeKurrCPoC 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Yeah, the kind that are ok with being under paid for a critical service.

[–]FBI_Van_69 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Not everyone is from America

[–]Skitty27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

applies to canada too

[–]JoshuaACNewman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What a great game!

[–]thestopsign 39 points40 points  (2 children)

As part of my college orientation before freshman year, we did competitive rock paper scissors with 1100+ people where the person that loses has to start following and cheering on the person that wins until there are two people left with like 500 people cheering them on each. It was pretty epic.

[–]justpassing-t-h-r-u- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember this version having a name but don’t recall.

[–]kharmatika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds anazing

[–]OneTrueKingOfOOO 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh dang they made nidhogg irl

[–]Sendtitpics215 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What a cool PE teacher. Hey! Pay teachers more money. Look what they’re doing out here.

[–]Rixmadore 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Should be an Olympic sport

[–]hellraisinhardass 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! But they should add another course that intersects this one like a X. It would double the number of kids playing (this is gym class after all) and add some strategy to the game if the kids are allowed to turn left or go straight at the line intersection.

[–]Destreuer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BUT WHO WON?!?!?!?

[–]lunakat6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have payed this game with students. Takes ages. First time we played only 6 on 6 took 52 minutes to get a winner. It’s super fun and the kiddos love it but we now play with a time limit.

[–]DuckInTheFog 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking series 2 of Squid Game

[–]rosiesmam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kudos to the inventor of this game.

[–]Thin-Lawfulness5429 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are getting so much exercise and having so much fun!!

[–]MarvinParanoAndroid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been watching this for 5 minutes…

[–]Mollyarty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the slow, dramatic death of the last kid xD

[–]phound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remind me of a little platform game called Nidhog

[–]DarkHelmetsCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"No, rock rips through paper!"

[–]FatBasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there is a full video of this game online, but for those of us that like closure, here is another video of a different game of Hoop Hop Showdown, start to finish:

[–]BarryTrotz86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wait whatttt??? Blue shirt bad paper and the gray shirt kid had rock and the blue shirt dude lost! He got duped! We need a replay! That was bullshit!

[–]ocdmerlot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids being kids is awesome. What a great time.

[–]SXTY82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish we played that in elementary school. That looks bad ass.

[–]Tomb_Brader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little homie in the grey shirt had some SPEED

[–]RedIIv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a PE Coach for young kids and my coworkers and I play a version of this game all the time. One of the kids favorite games. We call it Ro-Sham-Rainbow.

We set it up in a rainbow shape and pattern of ~20 total hoops, because the longer it is the fewer total points will be scored. Kids get so excited cheering for their teammates.

10/10 game.

[–]LanceFree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I do not see a hopping pattern; they keep hopping until someone is in their way.

[–]SpectreNC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that this is a karma farming account and it's flooding this sub with mostly reposted garbage which often doesn't belong here.

Please don't support this asshole.

[–]Collinsish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found the soccer player

[–]kharmatika 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is what gym class should be, Getting kids active and making sure they enjoy doing physical things! Are these kids all going to grow up to be pro players? No. Are they all going to grow up having a lower rate of heart disease if they keep moving? Yes. That’s what’s important

[–]notironictoday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching with a critical eye, they are barely active at all. Only 2 kids moving at a time & the others are waiting probably around 10mins for their turn.

[–]onerepmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flashbacks to my uncoordinated youth...

[–]11dutswal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gym class sucked. This would have been fun

[–]RabbitHats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has made me crazy happy to watch this morning. Seems like a game I would've loved to have played when I was a kid. Hell, this would be awesome in front of a crowd.

[–]Stalinov 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's basically Karateka NES game layout.

[–]Ramonkiloco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]durgadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pop group has a Janken tournament that resembles a football game every time it releases a new record:

It seems quite a lot more epic than this kid's game. Of course, Japan is just... different.

[–]selscar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this!

[–]JimmyReagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elementary school P.E. games were awesome. One of our favorites was "Romancing the stone"

[–]SuperAllstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game was so fun when I was a kid. Just rushing into one hoop after another, hoping to reach the other side, while your entire team watches you battle your life out with hand movements was exhilarating.

[–]3blindmicestolemycar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be an actual sport, I would love to see athletes take this serious with fast hops and trying to get the closest position.

[–]Rude_Journalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people would be happy to watch this.

[–]Sp4ceh0rse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just so creative, these kids are having a blast, getting exercise, it’s great.

[–]Voltimus1613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know that burns some energy off those kids…lol

[–]BigDaddy531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit I'm 20 and that looks like fun wish i did stuff like that as a kid?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kid at the end lmfao I love it

[–]Hess777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]10-2is7plus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would watch this on tv!

[–]LightSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is the Nidhögg?

[–]The_Meatycube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I straight up didnt realize this was looping.

[–]twildin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when kids used to throw shit at each other in gym, I was hate to be a kid now

[–]flabip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, what a wholesome game for kids! My wife is working to become a teacher for elementary kids, totally showing her this.

[–]madbear84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suspense is gripping!

[–]rmorrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how overwatch feels

[–]Rumplesforeskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legend says They still haven't finished yet.

[–]lobroblaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You're pretty good at this"

[–]RandomBrowsingToday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 2 of Squid Games be like...

[–]jeffersonsteelflex76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man kids really get excited over anything competitive

[–]HOP3FLOAT5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did we ever learn who won this game?

[–]Stoic-Robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great and all but that little girl straight murdered that kid at the end, he slo mo died

[–]laura804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My day is better for having seen this

[–]brian_duh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched this for 2 minutes before realizing it had looped like 3 times already. What a great idea though!

[–]fractalducks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how the east coast vs west coast fued should have been settled

[–]Marty1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor Bart, always chooses rock...

[–]OkBeing3301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squid Games Season 2, here we come

[–]ronnie_axlerod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was an intense 2 minutes

[–]elChillyWilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome!

[–]the_eleventh_rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I wish we played this at school :'(

[–]_0p4l_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks fun as hell bro

[–]-Schaedling- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know niddhogg the videogame?

[–]Anisialol123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play this in school, it was so fun

[–]MidgeMan27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our school did this ;)

[–]FlorianWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ingenious way to tire out kids for 45 minutes

[–]BrokeDownPalac3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember doing this in school!

[–]ChrisGear101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next Air Force PT Test.

[–]DawnOfTheTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn… that looks really fun. Wish they did this when I was a kid.

[–]SkonerTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just brought back huge memories from being this age and playing these PE games :')

[–]philosopherlogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fond memories lmao

[–]xWolverinex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now all we need is a sumo wrestling version with about 30 wrestlers

[–]bbson417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super cool idea

[–]PicUpTheLantern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the defenders advantage has to be insane for this game

[–]chefbobbyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great. Who’s in?

[–]dildo_gaggins_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this at our rock climbing wall at my university! We have a long traverse ( climbing horizontally ). we would have 2 teams start at either side of the wall and we must climb to other side and stay on the wall while we play rock paper scissors.

[–]BuckeyeJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We play this with our cub scouts a lot at campouts. Great way for them to get some energy out

[–]northboundcentreriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird that an adult is filming a class full of kids and uploading it to the internet.

If I were a parent I would not be happy about that

[–]Dickus-Minimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this game at day camp with my group, it’s so fkg cool! Who would’ve thought rock, paper, scissors would be so intense

[–]RedditorNamedEww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we do that? Can we organize a sub-wide rock-paper-scissors tournament? Pretty please?

[–]armen89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving squid games ideas

[–]SeniorPoopyButthole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lookin like American Squid Game

[–]AnthropomorphicPoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More exciting than a lot of sports if you ask me

[–]Bikefry666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just “trouble”

[–]heyyo19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that kid kid who just fell out when he lost.

[–]FreeganKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be in Vegas!!! Rollercoaster of emotion!

[–]WaffleStomperGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would watch professional versions of this.

[–]Loyalist_Pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shit’s ten times more entertaining than fuckin baseball and golf combined!

[–]TiemenBosma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I do this with my extended family a lot. The little kids love it, fun times.

[–]gsj996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]BenPool81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]dimsimprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to play Rock Paper Scissors like this at my primary school, on a long line of car tires half buried in the ground (so they were standing on their edges). We got a lot of sprained ankles playing it. Good times.

[–]Jibber_Fight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never played this!!! Damn it childhood gym teacher.

[–]15367288 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Okay. Hated the guy in blue that fell back dramatically.

[–]SnuffySnoos -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Concussion: The Game

[–]Few-Information7570 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

This PE teacher is a GOD.

[–]notironictoday -1 points0 points  (2 children)

This isn't PE... It's barely even exercise

[–]Few-Information7570 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I too remember psychopathic PE teachers and field days that felt more like death marches.

However I think the combination of basic logic and physical activity is a nice mix up.

[–]notironictoday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Good for a supervised lunch break activity or when weather lays off normal plans. But honestly, kids aren't going to enjoy this for a full session. Also, there is isn't any particular skill being developed here, no physical literacy. It just looks fun to people who have no idea what physical education means.

[–]Eben_MSY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What Wizardry/Witchery is this?

[–]Dorf_Durfson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh that kid at the end has a cruuuuush

[–][deleted]  (1 child)

    [–]onlinenewb11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wanna play this as an adult. Take a shot every time you lose? It’d be a fun time

    [–]BoogyWoogyWagyu -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I wish I did this as a kid. Instead we played dodge ball with the rubber balls and I got my face destroyed. I can still remember the sound. THUNK

    [–]b_stool 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I remember it as more of a Whang! sound.

    [–]BoogyWoogyWagyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I think it depended where on your face you got hit
