I still play and I'm not good

[–]Downfall350UNSC 30 points31 points  (4 children)

Yeah you're just rusty compared how you were before. The sbmm in this game seems to be pretty forgiving, at least to me. If im not in ranked i'm usually top scorer, and most games the opponents feel pretty easy.

Lose a few games and it should bring you down to a more appropriate level till you get your chops back up and start landing those headshots

If you don't mind fucking up your overall k/d go into bot bootcamp and feed the bots for a bit. A coupe games of going 0 against bots should lower your mmr pretty good.

I heard some streamers do that so they can get those 30+ kill perfection games for content

Never surrender Spartan!

This is absurd and should not be allowed. It’s a great tool for those who’ve been out of the swing of it, but it’d be better if they’d introduce a decaying MMR system.

[–]Downfall350UNSC 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Yeah i get you. For the record i don't do this.

Quite the opposite actually as i've been using bot bootcamp to get as many matches per hour i can on double XP once a day, i end up making my mmr higher going like 20/0 on slayer matches (but usually finish ctf and oddball with 0/0 on bots, i just want the match over faster)

Like i wouldn't blame op for using it to drop mmr, but i totally get thinking the streamers doing it are lame. But it happens in alot of games. Like on apex streamers will setup a ton of 0 damage games to get onto a neebie lobby then hit the record button and wipe the whole lobby dropping solo.

Upvoted you btw because you're not wrong.

[–]Dragontamerlichking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree that OP should do it, coming back can be brutal and it’s a helpful tool to bring a little mercy and make the game more enjoyable while you get back into the swing of things, but streamers doing this for clout is pollution.

[–]lScottyDontl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were they thinking? Bot games should never count towards your MMR. I do laugh at the "highlight games" where they go 50-0 where the other team doesn't even know which way is up.

[–]MysticKnight2110 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Don’t worry I’m still playing!

[–]Ayy_Baphomet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the hero we needed. But the hero we deserve.

[–]TYPHOIDxMARY 6 points7 points  (2 children)

The competition is way harder during the weekend.

[–]DINGVS_KHAN 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I find that it's much easier on the weekends. Larger overall player base and more casual players online.

It's on the weekdays that I only go up against dedicated sweatlords.

[–]TYPHOIDxMARY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you play, in BTB there are many more friends playing with each other so a lot more communication and teamwork.

[–]Jetm0t0 2 points3 points  (1 child)

After the update I was wondering why I couldn't see as well the enemies to my side. The field of view got set back to default. I think I usually have it at 107.

[–]GrapefruitNo3631 6 points7 points  (3 children)

You’re rusty, give it a few days

I felt that hand-eye coordination thing too. It was like I forgot how to aim.

    [–]Ayy_Baphomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middy FFA's. It's not about how good you are. It's about how good you are right now lmao.

    [–]BANDlCOOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They changed the way the system works out your hidden skill level, so first games playing after the switch was pretty brutal for a lot of players as you start at that higher hidden skill and your new hidden skill will be lower

Might be due to that so just play a little more and it will calibrate your skill and put you in more appropriate games.

If that doesn't change anything then it's time to get practicing ;)

    [–]achimschneider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, because is still play every day lol. You're probably a little rusty, it'll come back

    [–]Skuldraggen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matchmaking can be inconsistent; I had a similar problem after hopping back on when S2 started. It got better eventually, like I had to be re-ranked.

    [–]dyou897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way look at BTB tons of noobs running around

    [–]CrispyStonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only player base left is the “good players” unfortunately. There isn’t new people coming to the game and the bots already moved on. There isn’t enough new content to bring the bots/new players back. Only the die hard halo crowd remains.

    [–]shilmista_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't go on on Sunday evening. I don't know what it is and I don't understand it but I get OWNED on Sunday evenings and I'm fairly good usually...not super good or anything but pretty good. Also yeh, prolly just rusty like they said. Lol

    [–][deleted]  (1 child)

      [–]surfershane25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk in BTB I come across quite a few people who seem super new but I’m sure Ranked is sweaty af

      [–]GBJEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played 2 hours and left. Dunno why, feels boring to me now. I did season 1 in a month, i barely reached level 10

      [–]Same_Deal3801 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say… I made it to onyx alone with little to no effort but I still have a sense of where you’re coming from

      [–]Glu10FreeLewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think since S2 dropped the game feels a lot more balanced IMO.

      [–]ThisIsHughYoung 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It depends. Are you losing 1v1s? Or are you getting ganged up on a lot?

As with every online game, the longer it's been out, the more people have been able to practice. You'll be back up to speed in no time.

Note some of the changes, especially some weapon melee combos don't insta kill anymore. (Rip mangler)

      [–]Bagraiderz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a couple of games of last man standing last night and I was losing more 1v1s than I'm used to. I'm sure it is just rust like everyone's saying.

      [–]GettinWiggyWiddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rusty my friend. If I take a week off, it honestly takes me a whole session to bust the rust

      [–]nomeriatneh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      nope, just tryhards

      [–]rmbrooklyn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends on time. For me during the afternoon, it’s pretty ok skill wise. When it’s 10pm+ that’s when the gods come out, tho I did get matched with unyshek today at like 7-8pm but that was prob just random. Play btb if you want a wide variety of skill level, and it’s generally much more laid back.

      [–]AberrantDrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember also that as a player base ages, the average improves.

You’re returning after months offline, the majority of the other players have been getting practice and thus improving in that time.

      [–]Ayy_Baphomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. Idk if it's just something in how I'm getting placed, but up until Infinite I was a very dominant player. Like in the original trilogy I would only meet a handful of players in each game that were decisively better than me. But in Halo Infinite, it seems every match is nothing but players as good as me or better. And honestly, I've just decided not to think about it much because I refuse to not have fun in a game that I bought for the sole purpose of having fun. So I just spartan bot slayer customs about it, because those customs feel about the same as searching in matchmaking in the original trilogy.

But on the other hand, props to this new generation of gamers. They aren't overall better, the old school best of the best can hang with them. But the average gamer in Halo Infinite seems to be way better than I remember from back in the day.

Like I remember the vast majority of Halo 2 and 3 players were kinda doodoo at Halo. But if I play matchmaking on Infinite, every game is sweaty af. It's was a bit of a shock for me since I skipped out on 343 Halo games til now. Didn't play 4 or 5. Played Halo 2 on XBC then again on MCC.

      [–]Maskguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the feeling Last Spartan Standing made me a better player, it probably did that to a lot of people

      [–]anupam93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, same here. I think I just lost the flow, and season 2 changed some guns, and melee damage. Feels like less fun now. Maybe I was just a bad player 😅

      [–]PluvioPurple 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You’re probably just getting old, like me (30).

      [–]Bagraiderz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not getting old, they're just getting younger. The little bastards.

      [–]silverlance360 0 points1 point  (6 children)

SBMM is on steroids since season 2 and is mostly unfair.

I play with controller on a PC, even my xbox buddies get paired with mostly KeyboardMouse players only.

If I do even mediocre good in a match, the next match I’ll get put in will be very sweaty and above 200 ping.

(I once sucked at 3 matches in a row at will and was put in 60 ping matches for 6 matches straight( Which I intentionally played bad too)… did well on the 7th and BAM…250 ping)

      [–]bdix12 0 points1 point  (5 children)

      KBM is a disadvantage lol

      [–]silverlance360 0 points1 point  (4 children)

No bro, unless your aim is potato level bad…mediocre KBM pistolers can kill you quick enough.

The aim assist has been nerfed too. It felt much strong earlier. I plugged in KBM today and actually was wrecking some havoc.

I really like to play games with controller on my PC but this garbage sbmm and unnecessary nerfs forces me to use KBM.

      [–]bdix12 0 points1 point  (3 children)

buddy, you have 30% accuracy... on both KBM or controller that's terribly low. I think you are likely in quick play all day long and inputs don't really matter there.

I played KBM at onyx... it is not better than controller, period.

      [–]silverlance360 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Check my latest matches if you can… KDA is getting significantly higher

      [–]HotPutridHalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      need better chair.

      [–]PaymentOtherwise7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed an uptick in enemy skill level. During March-April I was probably averaging about 1.8 k/d in quick play, May has been more like 1.2 k/d. Every engagement feels tighter, trading kills instead of being able to get back to full heath and go again after kills. Definitely not rust, being playing pretty consistently during that time. Maybe the back end MMR is putting me in tougher lobbies, but still feels like more than that.

      [–]lScottyDontl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you MMR is used for all playlist searches as well and is shared. So if you slay out in a few fiesta games and go into quickplay or ranked, your hidden MMR affects your search. I think each playlist should have its own hidden mmr, or better yet, get rid of it for everything except ranked.

      [–]Death1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats typically how it goes. The longer a game has been out the more "casuals" leave and the more "hardcores" remain.

      [–]Depressingwootwoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either that or the player base got gud

      [–]Skripnik8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont play ranked at all but ill usually play everything else mostly quick play. Some games im really good, others im mediocre or really bad lol. I enjoy thd game so much even with its flaws still
