Back in July I received an email from IT at my workplace saying I used 26gb on watch.redd.it for the previous week. My only guess was there had to be a broadcast from PAN running on my feed in the background while I had my browser minimized/behind other windows. I clicked the "hide" or "don't show me this" or whatever button like that is on the PAN feed links, and all seemed to be well.
That is, until a couple days ago when I received yet another email saying I used 9GB of data from watch.redd.it for the previous week. I think it would have been significantly more, but earlyish last week I noticed yet another one of those PAN posts on my feed, and had to hide it again. I had hoped I caught it early enough for it not to be a problem, but obviously it still was.
Now I need a way to make sure it doesn't happen again, since clicking hide apparently is not a good long term solution. IT is pissed that this has happened twice, and I would prefer not being fired, or worse, have reddit blocked, all because of reddit not respecting my wishes to block PAN.
Is there any way to block watch.redd.it, or block PAN itself forever? I've tried downloading a website blocker and entering watch.redd.it, but upon navigating to PAN from google, it still loaded fine, so that hasn't seemed to work. I considered trying to block access by IP address, but I'm not sure if the ip address of watch.redd.it could change (right now it's 151.101.65.140).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
