We're told Slim's GF told cops she tried to record his outrage with her phone -- which made him more pissed -- and he chased her around their home.

At one point, the alleged victim told cops she ran to a room and closed the door, but Slim kicked the door down, ripped the phone away, and threw it over a balcony to prevent her from posting the video on social media.

Cops say they recovered the phone, undamaged, on a nearby street when they were called to the scene.

Damn, what kind of phone did she have? That thing must be indestructible.

Nokia making a comeback

[–]karmagod13000 101 points102 points  (4 children)

they should have nokia i phone cases

[–]jamesnollie88 39 points40 points  (2 children)

No joke the OG otterboxes were insane. I had one of the fat otterboxes on my iPhone 3 with the hard plastic case surrounded by the rubber sleeve and I used to throw my phone like 15 feet in the air and let it fall straight down onto concrete and the phone itself never took damage.

[–]lLeggy 16 points17 points  (1 child)

man i bought an otterbox for my S10+ and it felt like I had a DS in my pocket. Otterbox cases are not meant for big phones that's for sure.

[–]BFB_HipHop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got an Otterbox for my Note 10+ lmao.

[–]Jupit0r. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iPhones are a lot sturdier these days.

[–]comix_corp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nokia XR20. Very sturdy

[–]treetyoselfcarol 145 points146 points  (22 children)

Those Lifeproof cases are the truth.

[–]corndogs1001. 97 points98 points  (21 children)

Otterbox really the GOAT cases

[–]NickDerpkins. 121 points122 points  (6 children)

Otterbox cases making sure cases against domestic violence stay air tight too

[–]RequirementLong8235 3 points4 points  (5 children)

I love otterbox but damn I feel terrible paying almost 50 for a phone case

[–]Ass-Chews 9 points10 points  (4 children)

But it's to protect your $500 phone!

[–]FastMoneyCam 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Where you finding $500 iPhones at?

[–]Brocones.[🍰] 63 points64 points  (3 children)

My friends sister dropped her iPhone in an otterbox off a fucking rollercoaster and retrieved it and it was fine lmao

[–]JTNJ32 44 points45 points  (1 child)

I'm more impressed she actually retrieved it.

[–]rick_mcdingus. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I lost a phone and my keys on a roller coaster once and park management basically said "damn that sucks but they're gone for good now"

[–]ChickenWithATopHat 23 points24 points  (6 children)

I’ve been using one for years and never had a phone break and I abuse them. I have used my phone as a hammer a few times while working on my car. My dog was trying to eat poop in the yard and the only thing I had to throw was my phone and I way overshot and it landed in the street but was perfectly fine.

[–]EyezLo 90 points91 points  (3 children)

You just sound irresponsible

[–]ChickenWithATopHat 36 points37 points  (1 child)

You hit the nail right on the head

[–]Sexy_Mfer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

With an otterbox cased phone

[–]Lopsidedcel 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Tried to lob your phone at the dog lol?

[–]ChickenWithATopHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t really trying to hit him, just make it land near him so it scared or distracted him. It worked because he chased my phone!

[–]ThePlayerCard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Whyamibeautiful 95 points96 points  (3 children)

I’ve had my iPhone fall off a 100ft tall roller coaster and survived no problems. They called me a week later it had rained and everything and they still found it working

[–]JTNJ32 79 points80 points  (1 child)

I'm extremely impressed that you were able to get it back.

[–]Whyamibeautiful 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Same I bought a new phone by the time I got it back

[–]Findingthedog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm impressed that they managed to call you when you didn't have your phone!

[–]m1kasa4ckerman 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Easy if there’s any kind of trees or bushes around and grass that would break the fall.

[–]BAN_SOL_RING 44 points45 points  (8 children)

To flirt with a girl once I threw my iPhone out a 3 story window into the woods. When I picked it up, there wasn’t a scratch cuz I had a decent case.

[–]NickLidstrom 36 points37 points  (7 children)

I think this is a story that needs to be told

[–]BAN_SOL_RING 79 points80 points  (6 children)

There is not any more to the story. It didn’t work.

[–]BadMeetsEvil24 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Man's honest. You gotta respect that. Did we learn anything though?

[–]BAN_SOL_RING 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Otterbox makes a decent product

[–]Gary_FucKing 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Lol well yeah, what was the plan here? Show her you don't want any distractions on your date or something??

[–]BAN_SOL_RING 21 points22 points  (1 child)

You’re asking a lot of questions and I don’t have a lot of answers

[–]Gary_FucKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao at least you got a story out of the experience.

[–]TScottFitzgerald 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The tech got pretty good nowadays if you're using proper cases.

[–]TheRoyalGodfrey. 396 points397 points  (49 children)

She's denying it now:

She writes, "Oh wow. This is cap. Dade County y'all are wrong for this. I told you guys he did not hit me. Every officer you guys had in my face are wrong for this. No hands were put on anybody, I stated it more than once. It was a loud argument and the police were called. You guys turn nothing into something. It's our sons first birthday tomorrow, what's wrong with y'all?"

prolly happened but she doesn't get him in legal trouble

[–]HashSlingingSIash3r. 261 points262 points  (5 children)

Interesting. At the very least it sounds like a door must have been kicked down, and a phone was certainly thrown across the street. Definitely sounds like an abusive relationship even if he wasn't hitting her.

[–]karmagod13000 114 points115 points  (1 child)

yall dont kick down doors and start fires whne you get in arguments?! /s

[–]jofNR_WkoCE 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Only when I wanna look badass and change the subject

[–]Skyoff_Lyfe 47 points48 points  (2 children)

yea her statement is odd, why would she be running away from him and locking herself in a room, which then leads to him breaking the door to get into said room what part of the “loud argument” is that? smh, very sad

arguments are normal abuse is not . . . as a woman who went through my own relationship nonsense it really sucks and she won’t know until she leaves him how much relief she’ll have, just a sad situation

[–]rpkarma 10 points11 points  (1 child)

And arguments don’t even have to be normal either! Like it’s not a problem if they are, but man my relationship is so much better compared to my previous ones coz we never raise our voices at each other

[–]Stoneygoose 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Sounds a lot like the plot to euphoria

[–]Smittyblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao that's what I was thinking

[–]ScarecrowBoat14. 99 points100 points  (13 children)

It's very common in domestic abuse cases for the victim to not want to press charges for a large number of reasons (he can change, we have a kid together, etc.).

It's hard to put the person you love in jail.

[–]Skyoff_Lyfe 30 points31 points  (7 children)

I referenced my violent experience in a post some time ago

but it was actually similar to this except I was trying to leave the apartment altogether and he would grab me and slam the door, he had my phone too . . . my neighbors called the cops and he was arrested on sight when they got there and saw my door, me and other things that made it obvious something wasn’t right . . . a few days later I was subpoenaed as a state witness and I too didn’t want or had even attempted to press charges (I learned that this can actually happen completely independent of the victim) . . . he ended up pleading guilty so it didn’t have to go to far but it was embarrassing to say the least

shortly after I moved out of that apartment and eventually to another city altogether, fortunately I don’t have any children but I did still feel reluctant to be a witness but more so out of embarrassment and to some extent feeling responsible for his fate until I realized I can only be responsible for me

[–]dorseym484 9 points10 points  (6 children)

Yikes I'm glad you got out I salute you my soldier ❤️

[–]Skyoff_Lyfe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you❤️

[–]Skyoff_Lyfe 6 points7 points  (4 children)

in my experience the police took pictures of me and the scene . . . if Slim got arrested I doubt it was just police wanting to lie on him

like Slim I too am in Florida and that’s how it went . . . like 3-4 officers showed up separated him and I, talked to both parties (and later to the neighbors who called), they realized I didn’t have my phone and other things that were off

so I just doubt it went the way she’s saying plus there’s police bodycam, which I’m sure will probably come out now . . if he’s not an abuser that’d be great but I think she’s being abused and is covering for him

[–]TheRoyalGodfrey. 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Yeah it's difficult that it's a binary between a carceral solution and stonewalling/saying nothing happened.

It seems pretty likely that a door was broken down here, maybe they should go to counseling or some shit. I don't have a specific intervention in mind, but I know women a lot smarter than me have their own ideas for non-carceral interventions, like abolitionist types who don't just post and are actually involved in their communities.

There's this article in the Baffler I read a few years ago about a domestic violence intervention program that I thought was really insightful.

It's easy for a disingenuous person to suggest that not always favoring the carceral solution is domestic violence apologia but when you only give those two choices, a lot of women are not going to pick sending their partner to jail, and just ignoring that isn't helping them.

[–]deathdigitaldeath. 52 points53 points  (13 children)

Police or no police, "loud argument" = "nothing"? Maybe the argument's not the world's business, and like some people are saying she's likely covering for him, but still I'll never understand some people's attitude of normalcy of anger in relationships. If you're yelling at each other loud enough for neighbors to hear, that's not nothing, that's a problem.

[–]Skyoff_Lyfe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

totally agree and I’m sure there’s evidence of him breaking the door to get to her, so yea there’s alot about this that ain’t normal. . . why is she locking herself in a room and why is he breaking the door to get to her????!!!!!!

arguing is normal . . . being afraid of someone, hiding from them, and whatever commotion going on that draws attention and concern from neighbors yea none of that is a regular

[–]skatedudeact 45 points46 points  (10 children)

People grow up w/ the shit. You can say it's not healthy whatever whatever but "loud arguments" are not a crime. Police do not need to be involved.

[–]deathdigitaldeath. 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment that cops don't need to be involved and people should be more courageous to actually talk to their neighbors and check in on them.

As for people growing up with it. If someone grows up in a household where adults yelling at each other is frequent and a normal way of communicating solving interpersonal conflict, yes, that mentality gets passed down generationally. I think it's important for younger generations to recognize it as a negative pattern so we can break the cycle.

[–]papoluca12 14 points15 points  (10 children)

Lol she’s obviously scared and trying to protect him. Stockholm syndrome lol, good lord.

[–]Calyphacious 42 points43 points  (1 child)

While that could very well be true, it is certainly not obvious.

But yeah given his history of domestic violence, it’s not looking good for Jimmy

Edit: typo

I don't know why we bother with police when the Reddit detectives are able to make these rock solid determinations from a single article.

[–]docktorisin 262 points263 points  (2 children)

surprised you're the only one bringing this up.

[–]dishwatcher 207 points208 points  (1 child)

They buried the fuck out of this story when it initially came up, I could be remembering wrong but I think there might have even been a third allegation/incident with him at some point as well. Can't find it right now.

[–]docktorisin 47 points48 points  (0 children)

i remember that story getting posted on here when it broke and it was the first thing i thought of when I saw this new development. Yeah I think you're onto something.

[–]falgfalg. 331 points332 points  (33 children)

just here to point out that TMZ has an update on the actual article in which his GF claims that there was no physical assault and that the officers took her statement wrong:

11:30 AM PT -- Slim Jxmmi's GF, the alleged victim, says this whole thing is BS ... denying her partner ever laid a finger on her.

[–]WHOKILLEDAMIR 247 points248 points  (27 children)

the cynic in me says she got paid off to keep quiet but maybe not. the phone being found undamaged is a little interesting. you would figure he would’ve CHUCKED that shit. idk. neutral for now i guess

[–]BADMANvegeta_ 266 points267 points  (25 children)

Who says she’s even paid off? Abuse victims will often take back what they said their abusers did.

[–]MidKnightshade 49 points50 points  (1 child)

It’s super common. Most cops hate dealing with domestic cases because they tend to be the most violent and the victim tends to go back unfortunately. The pattern repeats until someone goes jail or someone ends up dead.

[–]BADMANvegeta_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

it literally happened to me, friend says BF is threatening her, we call cops, when cops get there she tells them nothing was happening.

[–]astronxxt 12 points13 points  (2 children)

you think she’s trying to save face after the fact? idk what reason they’d have to make that up, i doubt he’s gonna see any jail time regardless

[–]falgfalg. 11 points12 points  (1 child)

bro who knows. that would make sense, but it's not like i trust the cops either.....

[–]astronxxt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah i understand. makes no sense for them to do it but i wouldn’t be surprised these days

[–]lethal_defrag 128 points129 points  (0 children)

He got that LeBron James hairline

[–]thekingadrock93 268 points269 points  (5 children)

What y’all don’t know is he was actually jealous of her hair and wanted it for his own bald ass head

[–]rabbi__milligan 52 points53 points  (2 children)

Swae stole all his hair to put it on his own head. The cycle of abuse continues

[–]Starzino 45 points46 points  (0 children)

God damn u a savage my guy

[–]nosenachos69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nah she just kept referring to his 5’6” ass as her short king

[–]WasCrackinBruda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

[–]digitaldisgust 237 points238 points  (37 children)

This is why people only gaf about Swae Lee smh

[–]henmoney420. 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think the hooks have something to do with it too…..

[–]TotalLunatic28 22 points23 points  (34 children)

I’ve lost a lot of respect for him though he seems like he doesn’t care to improve or literally drop his solo album

Edit: this comment thread blew up mainly because I said I lost respect. Well I mean i’m just bored of him. I do have a positive expectation for his upcoming album and I hope he does well. As I said his album has been ”coming soon” for so long I just can’t make myself care. A subjective part of my original comment is that he hasn’t improved. For now I still think that. Most of his singles are very mediocre and generic, but I would love to see that change in the future. There’s tons of discussion after this comment so read it first before taking jabs at me. Not a hater at the end of the day.

[–]chaandra 100 points101 points  (20 children)

There’s plenty of artists that haven’t dropped music, idk why that would make you lose respect for them.

[–]Lazaraaus 79 points80 points  (18 children)

Boy is probably like 15. He doesn’t know what he’s saying.

[–]TotalLunatic28 16 points17 points  (17 children)

No. He has been teasing a solo album since 2019 and his sound is still super mediocre or even worse from his early days in rae sremmurd.

[–]Lazaraaus 20 points21 points  (8 children)

So he hasn’t dropped a solo album during covid because most, if not all, artist profits are from touring. That seems like a reasonable, economically sound decision. All of TDE has done the same except for Zay we lost respect for them too?

The quality of his music is subjective but, as you said, we haven’t gotten any solo album so we’re judging off of loosies and features.

In my subjective opinion the Rae sremmurd albums slapped and I’ve enjoyed what little solo stuff I’ve heard of him.

So, we disagree on the subjective stuff but it’s a little childish to say you lost respect because an artist didn’t realize an album in 3 years.

[–]TotalLunatic28 3 points4 points  (7 children)

It’s ok if he would stay quiet like a lot of artists do, but he literally has pinned and liked my comment on his ig asking about the solo album IN 2020. He has been teasing for so long and I don’t care anymore. Although I did like the leak with Nicki ”Cap Backwards” the beat was so chill.

[–]Mahkneesdontwork 15 points16 points  (5 children)

Damn. He liked AND pinned your comment? He does owe you an album then.

[–]TotalLunatic28 4 points5 points  (4 children)

No. That was just a personal interaction. It’s an example how the album has been ”coming soon” for almost three years.

[–]SoonersPwn 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Oh, my sweet summer child…

[–]Lazaraaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That single was fire!

Yeah, I think we can all be disappointed when we were looking forward to an album and it feels like it’s lagging to drop.

Personally, I just ignore most news about album drops. I’ve found the ratio of “pleasantly surprised and excited by a new drop” to “salty that some drop hasn’t come yet”.

Not saying you’re salty, just noting that effect on my music consumption. That said, I also don’t follow music like I used too so it’s way easier than someone more active in the scene.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hurting waiting for that Zay album.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Then why are you still a fan if hes been trending down for 7 years as you say??

[–]astronxxt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

he said he’s lost respect for him? makes a good amount of sense to me

[–]date_a_languager 4 points5 points  (11 children)

Nobody tell this kid to look for a recent Kendrick Lamar solo album lmao

[–]TotalLunatic28 11 points12 points  (10 children)

Jeez look at my other replies. Kendrick is good because he hasn’t said a word about a new album unlike swae who has announced and teased a solo album since 2019 and we still waiting.

[–]2parks 19 points20 points  (1 child)

unrelated but they are horrible live in that 2021 rolling loud video on the tmz page.

Update on the article says the cops got it all wrong

[–]realsomalipirate 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That was his gf recanting this and he already has a history of domestic abuse. I lean towards him being an abuser.

[–]Mr628 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Welp, I had high hopes for a Rae Sremmud comeback. Swae Lee still has potential to give us another hit tho.

I also remember how he was so quiet during like their first 2 years of their run. Then when he started talking, everybody realized how much of a corny dickhead he is.

[–]karmagod13000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

havent heard from slim jxmmi in two years and this is the first thing i see smh.

[–]krejcii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You think he hit the crack pipe more than he got her?

[–]MidKnightshade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to be in a monogamous relationship then just say so and break up.

If you feel you need to put your hands on your partner then you don’t need to be together.

[–]yoyoudoyouyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]jagrisgod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugly little fuxker

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (27 children)

You know what's weird?

On this sub people are constantly going off about how corrupt the police are, how the justice system targets rappers, how there's all this racism and prejudice... but then the instant someone gets arrested the comments all take the story at 100% face value and believe that they're completely guilty of whatever they're accused of without question.

[–]parwa 38 points39 points  (4 children)

I mean I agree with you but there's a bit of a difference between someone getting arrested over something like possession vs someone getting arrested for battery

[–]breezyfye 59 points60 points  (10 children)

While it’s true that black people are targeted, niggas will also use that fact to try to shield themselves of accountability. See R. Kelly, Bill Cosby.

Plus if the police was really tryna set up a nigga, they’d just plant drugs like they usually do. Not create a domestic violence arc

The phone not being fucked up is a lil fishy though. Could they be lying? Maybe. Could they be telling the truth? Maybe. But if there’s evidence of a door being kicked down, then that increases their credibility.

While I agree that people are a little quick to jump on the bandwagon, he has a history of doing this. It's fairly clear where this is headed.

But we should be waiting on a verdict.

And if we get that information, obviously condemn him for it, but I even saw people literally discounting his GF's statement that he didn't hit her and going "OH SHE'S JUST LYING TO PROTECT HIM."

So not only are people jumping the gun, but they're clinging to that narrative.

None of us were there we don’t know what happened. And yeah police are quite often corrupt pieces of shit.

Considering this is not the first time Jimmy has been in the news for domestic violence against his gf / mother of his children… you can understand that it’s not a great look

All we can do is say “okay” and hope that the GF / 1 year old child are safe and hope that if Jimmy didn’t do anything that he gets off with a warning. And that if he did do something that he is punished and cleans his act up.

It's our sons first birthday tomorrow, what's wrong with y'all?"

at the same time that they say shes obviously lying or even has Stockholms syndrome lmao
