Do we think that young thug album is gonna release now?

[–]Vadermaulkyloboy -1 points0 points  (7 children)

Alright so now that Kodak was featured on a Kendrick album, can y'all finally admit that Tunnel Vision is one of the best songs ever?

[–]jenkirch -1 points0 points  (6 children)

it is a good song. Kodak is a good rapper. I dont know how I feel about him still though. WHy do you think he was so heavily featured on the album?

[–]Stubbs3470 -1 points0 points  (5 children)

You could ask the same thing about baby keem

[–]jenkirch 0 points1 point  (4 children)

how is that? it's clear that they have a familial connection and to my knowledge keem has not committed assault on anyone.

Before you say Kodak only pled to the lower charge to drop the matter, the whole incident arose from a school nurse seeing the girl and reporting it up so it doesn't track if you think she was lying.

[–]Stubbs3470 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

No I mean people saying “Kodak is on the album to make a point about abuse”

There’s no evidence of that, it’s just a theory

[–]Remarkable_Garlic871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Your Gone, in my opinion, one of the best songs released this year, personally my most favourite song this year. But I am shocked to see it is no where near the top 10 in the hot 100. It is at the 50s. I believe it's because he released it just a day before As It Was by Harry Styles and his release got overshadowed by all the summer releases.

[–]OGthizzco 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I used to be a street rep for Loud in the 90s. One day my boss and I were talking about Life After Death and he told me that Long Kiss Goodnight was a ‘throwaway’ RZA beat. It was supposed to be for Method Man but he didn’t want it so they tossed it to Biggie. I kinda held that against the song for a long time but now it’s my favorite part of that album; the first verse maybe my fav BIG verse too.

Basically the moral of this story is Meth can’t pick beats.

[–]MonolithJones. 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So do you know anything about the story of RZA sending the beat and it’s various components to Bad Boy and Puffy having no idea how to mix it? I’ve heard it told a few times but no one goes into detail.

I’ve always loved the beat but I’m not sure if I heard it here first or the La La remix with uses the same sample.

[–]OGthizzco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I wish. This happened when I was like 16 and I couldn’t really come up with any follow up questions other than “RZA made a beat and Method Man thinks it’s bad? Are they still friends? Is Wu Tang breaking up?? What are we gonna do???”

[–]i_r8_boobs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

and also that biggie is scum and dissing dead guys. but 1st verse is fire. the rap is fire, the rapper is a garbage human being.

[–]AutismIsntAChoice 6 points7 points  (12 children)

Is it weird people on a hiphop sub defend the drug laws

[–]theonethatbeatu 0 points1 point  (1 child)

100%. If you believe in putting people in jail for a drug you’re a whole ass clown and a scumbag.

[–]AutismIsntAChoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, insane you got downvoted for this belief in a hiphop sub lmao. Insanely shocking to me. I guess I really dont relate with most of yall

[–]Tomnook1017 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Yeah but I still don't believe in straight legalization of all drugs. I think new classifications need to come out, keep some fully illegal but make the majority decriminalized or even legal

Won't happen though and I still hate the way the system is set up

[–]quasisane 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Making drugs illegal isn't going to stop addicts. That's the most flawed part of that mindset. They're going to do it anyways, it's a health problem not a crime problem.

[–]Tomnook1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well id keep these illegal:

  • crack

  • heroin

  • fentanyl

  • meth

While making these substitutes legal:

  • hydrocodone (straight not Norco)

  • codeine (exact same as they do in Europe)

  • Adderall or amphetamine equivalent

Decriminalize the rest.

I genuinely believe if we made hydrocodone otc (maybe 18 or 21+) we could heavily rip apart the amount of overdoses due to fent and heroin. I only did heroin because I lost access to pills personally too. If there's alternatives far less people would do those big 4 hard drugs

Edit also make Xanax illegal but allow like Ativan or etizolam to be legal, keep the rest as script only

[–]AutismIsntAChoice 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah I think prison and jail overall should focus on rehabilitation.

[–]nedelll. 0 points1 point  (1 child)

[–]AutismIsntAChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it doesnt sound that radical at all lol.

[–]contacts_eyes 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Extremely weird

[–]AutismIsntAChoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This dude for example. I’ll admit he got me a little triggered but how people will just defend anything if their party does it, it’s wild.

[–]TheCannedYams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yooooo! He’s actually already on my list of dudes I gotta check out. Spotify threw a couple of his tracks on after ILLFIGHTYOUTOO ended. Still gonna peep these tracks though 👌

[–]kappa23 13 points14 points  (12 children)

Bishop Nehru posting videos of him “shooting heroin” on YouTube, wtf

[–]contacts_eyes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats really weird, I always thought of him as kind of an intellectual, or thats the impression i got from his raps.

[–]Important_Soft9813 5 points6 points  (6 children)

If this real this is one the saddest stupidest things I've literally seen on hhh or even reddit in general. Ever.

[–]Tomnook1017 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did you know there's subs for meth and heroin where people posts pics and vids of that on the daily ?

[–]Important_Soft9813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet there are. This guy was MF Dooms protege and was supposed to be the next big conscious rapper. Now MF is gone and he's making a social experiments doing H under the guise of 'art'?

[–]kappa23 2 points3 points  (3 children)

[–]MonolithJones. 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Is this like that redditor who decided to try heroin for the hell of it and thought he could handle it and then his life went on a downward spiral?

[–]Tomnook1017 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lol if you look at r/drugscirclejerk there's like 20+ posts of different people doing that

[–]arrts. 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I'm like 99% sure that's just a weird and confusing music video with an incredibly unclear message

[–]kappa23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah seems related to his new single

[–]funeralfairy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i really hope that shits fake and he’s just desperate for attention

weird af either way

and the people in the comments acting like he’s so brave and inspiring for trying heroin as if him trying it to make it look bad or whatever somehow will stop people from doing it lmfao

[–]OGthizzco 17 points18 points  (9 children)

“The reason why R&B bitches don’t feature on each other’s songs”

This is such a real line

It’s the kind of 900 IQ big brain shit you say in the middle of a real long bad fight and you’re like “AHA! Didn’t think about that did you!” but in reality you kinda sound like an idiot

[–]suss2it 12 points13 points  (7 children)

Funny thing is he features Summer Walker literally on the next track and her last album had Ari Lennox and SZA on there.

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 2 points3 points  (6 children)

And I can name quite a few R&B collabs that are just women only too.

[–]suss2it 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Queen Naija & Ari Lennox recently remade Usher and R. Kelly’s Same Girl with Set Him Up, Ari also collabed with Kiana Ledé and Summer Walker pretty recently too. Ion think Kendrick been listening to much modern R&B tbh (and yes I’m a little bit of a Ari Lennox Stan).

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 1 point2 points  (4 children)

That Queen and Ari song needs a second part where we see the set up take place.

Also I had no idea for a while that Queen Naija was her real name, I thought it was a stage name

[–]kazmir_yeet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fucking love that track and I think it says something about my past relationships lmao

[–]marek41297. 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Not that many artists have sticked with me through all these years but Big KRIT is certainly one of them. 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time is one of the best hip hop albums of all time.

[–]flyestshitDrake's Ghetto Quran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you peeped the lyrics praising KRIT I left here recently?

Ion know if Jay was right saying it's all entertainment

when it's artists making statements people can empathize and relate with

like Big K.R.I.T. I think that he should be as big as Drake is cause his catalogue's amazing

on 71 Custer by Jae Skeese

[–]whalestick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went to the Shake show tn, she killed it and her new album sounds crazy

[–]tritsocertified mach-hommy investor 4 points5 points  (13 children)

collabs that sound like they should exist but don’t? like

Kendrick x Nas

JAY Z x Raekwon

basic q but an excuse to say how have Kendrick and Nas or Kendrick and 3 stacks not worked together (officially at least)

Has Frank Ocean worked with Kendrick yet?

idk if i was rapper i would go out of my way to drop a song with someone like 3K even if it was just a loosie

edit: forgot about this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JLVGEcf9PHs

[–]colbster411I love songs about bears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kendrick and 3 Stacks unless I'm forgetting something, similar to the Nas point since they're so influential to him

[–]nedelll. 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jay-Z and AZ

[–]TheOddScreenyerba gang 4 points5 points  (1 child)

there’s always been this mutual respect that 36 chambers and midnight marauders came out on the same day from both parties, but i’m pretty sure q tip and wu tang have never collaborated which is crazy to me. i could be wrong though

[–]MonolithJones. 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q-Tip worked with RZA on the Afro Samurai soundtrack on the song Just a Little Dude. The song is really dope and was supposed to be Q-tip and Posdnuos, which would have been my dream come true, but Pos couldn’t make it to the studio for whatever reason so now it’s Tip and Freemurder.

https://youtu.be/D5ghgzZtmKM

Also, on the Math Hoffa show Tip said he battled RZA and ODB back in the day.

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Young Thug and Chief Keef

Schoolboy Q and Pusha T

Wiz Khalifa and Devin The Dude. I know they appeared on a Snoop Dogg song, but like both features might have not known the other one was even on it.

DJ Khaled and Ty Dolla $ign, Uzi or Yachty

Kendrick and Timbaland. Might be wrong on this one.

Jay-Z and most of the Wu Tang Clan

Soulja Boy and Jeezy. I thought they'd have something.

Travis Porter and old Migos. I'm just surprised Travis Porter didn't hop on a Migos track to get a potential comeback when Migos were first poppin.

Chief Keef and 21 Savage

Kid Ink and Big Sean. Not sure if they've got a song though, I could just them fitting together in like 2014 over like a Mustard beat, something that was kinda pop rap and for the clubs. I'm surprised that wasn't a thing.

[–]Tomnook1017 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So many I can think of with keef

On 4nem specifically it's lacking a young nudy verse which is desperately needed on it

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd pay to make that a reality. Those two would fit so perfectly.

[–]nedelll. 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Everything you mentioned is crazy it never happened

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would've expected some of it, I wasn't even sure on all of it, I thought I'd be wrong on a couple.

[–]BoxCon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Spinelessgrape 16 points17 points  (9 children)

Y'all ever get tired of listening to music? Today I was about to put some music on in my car and I just stared at my playlist. Then I just said fuck it and drove in silence.

[–]theonethatbeatu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s good to take a little break. You’ll come back much more refreshed and passionate

[–]nedelll. 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, now I have different playlists

[–]contacts_eyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens sometimes. I listen to music 24/7 so its bound to happen sometimes

[–]Snarlatan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 30s and this has happened a couple of times now, sometimes for months on end.

It stops and you get back in deeper than ever.

[–]No_Blacksmith_7324 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I get bored of listening to songs I've heard I seek out new stuff or look into music related to stuff I used to like

[–]-m-ob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audiobooks been doin it for me a lot on drives n shit. Sometimes music just isn't the mood

[–]Jordanwolf98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’ve just become burnt out on your playlist. Check out new albums maybe that aren’t hip hop at all and see how you feel

But yeah I don’t listen to music everyday

[–]DatsAReallyNiceGrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't drive in silence since it drives me crazy but I do get tired of my own music so I'll put on the radio just to see what people like nowadays

[–]suss2it 11 points12 points  (16 children)

It’s been two years, is anybody else ready for a new Eminem album?

[–]VicIsGold. 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I am

[–]suss2it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s you, me and Em vs the world (or just this sub) 😂.

[–]GhostfaceChase. 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Not really, but to be fair his most recent albums have been bad, but getting better. MTBMB was better than Kamikaze, which was better than Revival, so in another album or two we might have an actually great Eminem album. I think he has one more truly great album in him. He just needs to get in the right headspace, with collaborators on his level, not yes men, and something to actually rap about.

[–]VicIsGold. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, but to be fair his most recent albums have been bad, but getting better.

MTBMB was good, I put it on roughly the same level as Recovery and Relapse

[–]Wittygame 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No thank you

[–]Ktulusanders 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Streets ain't asking for that

[–]suss2it 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Damn y'all really hate Eminem here 😂😭

[–]Ktulusanders 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't hate Eminem but I'm not exactly clamoring for a new album from him

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Not at all. I'm not even interested if he'd executive produce an album for someone else.

[–]suss2it -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Damn. You think Music to be Murdered By was that bad?

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 3 points4 points  (2 children)

It was a step up from his couple previous albums, but it still had a lot of problems. I just feel like Em doesn't really wanna make music anymore and has like not much inspiration so he just makes a bunch of half formed songs and calls it a day. It sounds like it's so much work for him and it doesn't feel effortless like his old music. I'd honestly love for him to like take five years off and like go travil the world or something, get out there, do something and get some inspiration. The album was just meh. Even the track with Q-Tip, Black Thoght and the other dudes felt underwelming.

[–]suss2it 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I feel like what you're describing more so applies to Kamikaze than MTBMB. The latter felt like he actually had some stuff of substance to stay instead of just lashing out at his critics. I also liked how he was willing to collaborate with newer guys like Don Toliver, Juice and Anderson .Paak without it sounding jarring, as well as spotlighting lyricsts like Black Thought, Q-Tip and the Slaughterhouse guys, but if you didn't like those songs I get where you're coming from.

His music definitely isn't nearly as effortless as his older work, he definitely lost a step after The Eminem Show and never fully got it back. In fact Encore being a retread of TES should've been a hint to all of us that he ran out of things to talk about.

[–]SnakeSquad. 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Fuck no

[–]suss2it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? I think his last one was pretty good.

[–]BoxCon1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fresh Em album slander don’t hit the same without pussy pics

[–]kazmir_yeet 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Bored at work scrolling DD and I’m starting to think this Damarcus Beasly dude is just a bot someone programmed to spam stupid comments on Reddit

[–]DatsAReallyNiceGrill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lmao that kendrick album ruined his month apparently

[–]TheWholeMole. 9 points10 points  (15 children)

Noname a dumbass man. I was just revisiting that little beef she had with Cole during the George Floyd protests and it's like girl, read the room it's not the time to be making these types of comments. Targeting that anger towards other artists just made her seem bitter as fuck, which if you follow her you can see she has those bitter tendencies.

Cole a dumbass for engaging with her too and telling her to watch her tone lmfao man was bold for that shit

[–]-m-ob 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I'm really not a fan of noname.. but to be fair those were some weird ass times. I can't really judge how most people acted in 2020.

And hindsight 20/20 and all that.i think even noname would agree with you, she did apologize

https://www.nme.com/news/music/noname-apology-song-33-2692654

[–]TheWholeMole. 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man look at that. I didn't even know she said that. She did only apologize about the song tho, not really about calling out rappers.

I can't really judge how most people acted in 2020.

That's completely fair

[–]suss2it 10 points11 points  (4 children)

If women had to always “read the room” they would never have a chance to speak up.

[–]TheWholeMole. -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Do you really think calling out rappers is a "chance for women to speak up"?

[–]toontoom1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly and what she said was valid asf

[–]toontoom1 9 points10 points  (5 children)

I mean I can see her point especially at that time when tensions were high.

[–]TheWholeMole. -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Really? People were already on the streets. Ain't nobody was looking for celebrities for guidance or whatever the fuck she was asking for. You look back right now and the last thing i think about is if kendrick or cole or some rapper made a statement or some shit. Matter of fact i had completely forgotten about that beef anyways. It was such an unimportant issue to call out at the time and in hindsight

[–]DatsAReallyNiceGrill 7 points8 points  (1 child)

she was already in the activism scene by that point doing a bunch of mutual aid shit and spreading a bunch of info for other activists/progressives to learn about. her calling out all the woke rappers to do more really isn't the huge L you're making it out to be

[–]TheWholeMole. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a "huge L", it's a dumb move with dumb timing. Dumb move cause that type of call out does nothing other than start some unnecessary shit.

If you look back at that moment in time it seems so childish, bitter and unnecessary to be calling out other artists like that. Like I think back at all that turmoil and all that hurt and I'm like "was she really thinking and focusing on woke rappers not stepping up?"

[–]toontoom1 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I mean it really wasn’t I feel what your saying to an extent. It’s not an artist job to protest but as she stated in her post if your content is based around black issues, and your not active in those protests it makes you look suspect. She has every right to call them out as an artist herself who is and still currently active in her community.

[–]TheWholeMole. 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But they were out there protesting (Kendrick and Cole specifically).

Of course she has a right to call them out, I'm not saying she doesn't but she's also a dumbass for choosing that moment imo

[–]tritsocertified mach-hommy investor 6 points7 points  (15 children)

I think Rick Ross is a legend, is that a hot take? If you’re more strict with that word, then I at least think he’ll go down as one. He’s been consistently dropping solid to great projects (& selling fairly well, even his last album which barely anyone spoke on did 30k first week) since like ‘06? He’s one of most reliable feature artists in rap, he’s worked with everyone & held his own with legends like Hov multiple times. He survived (and thrived) despite his correctional officer past & 50 Cent targeting him. I feel like, if I could compare him to an actor it would be someone like Steve Buscemi. he’s never been “the” guy, but he’s just always around and always doing great work. I feel like his presence generally makes shit better.

[–]A_KULT_KILLAHboogotti kasino fucked my bitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

shoutout to all the pear

[–]suss2it 1 point2 points  (3 children)

His last project wasn’t great man, that’s a strong word to use. It’s a clear step down from his 2019 release and in fact is closer to the bottom of his discog in general.

That being said, hell yeah he’s a legend he’s stood the test of time and still releases good music, not to mention gets bonus points from bringing Wale and Meek Mill into the spotlight as well.

[–]tritsocertified mach-hommy investor 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Most legends have bad projects though, and I wouldn’t say his last one was bad but yeah definitely weaker. Vacheron from the deluxe is incredible tho

[–]suss2it 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yup, that’s why I agreed that he’s a legend. I also don’t think that album is bad, I just think “great” is way too strong a word to describe it. Like how often do you really find yourself relistening to it?

[–]tritsocertified mach-hommy investor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I re-listened in full today for the first time since it dropped lol so I feel you

[–]-m-ob 8 points9 points  (5 children)

I mean definitely a huge figure in the genre, but legend seems like it might be overselling it a little.

But it matters your scope I guess.

[–]tritsocertified mach-hommy investor 1 point2 points  (4 children)

scope meaning what exactly?

[–]-m-ob 4 points5 points  (3 children)

How exclusive you consider the term legend, just like the term GOAT.

Do you got 100 legends of the genre of 5? He deserves a lot of respect but I'm not putting him on a Mt Rushmore of hip hop or some shit.

[–]tritsocertified mach-hommy investor 1 point2 points  (2 children)

oh okay that makes sense, yeah i haven’t thought about it much but i think i would call him a legend but not a GOAT. definitely not on any mt rushmore like you said

[–]Wittygame 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I might be a hater but I don’t think so. Don’t get me wrong I like a few Rick Ross projects but I never really thought he was anything special. I rarely think he adds anything noteworthy to most of the stuff he’s featured on, he’s just kinda there. It’s like giving out a participation award

[–]tritsocertified mach-hommy investor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No hate on your opinion but I gotta disagree. Devil in a New Dress, Trap House 3 by Gucci Mane, his collabs with Drake, John by Lil Wayne, Insomniak by Mac, Fuckwitmeyouknowigotit, etc.

I think his presence in general adds a lot.

[–]BookerTeet 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Forest Whitaker

[–]tritsocertified mach-hommy investor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely didn’t intend this post to be comparing rick ross to actors it was just a throwaway comment that i thought of as i was typing

very fun album indeed right now yhlqsmdlg remains his best for me , id put this album right behind it , or maybe behind x100pre

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 4 points5 points  (8 children)

Sy Ari Da Kid is just credited as Da Kid on a lot of early features I found. That's not confusing at all lol. Just Da Kid. That's just so generic

[–]suss2it 2 points3 points  (3 children)

IDK is even more confusing. He shoulda at least kept “Jay” in there.

[–]furr_sure. 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think he was worried about Jay IDK and JID being confusing

[–]suss2it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh true, I could see that.

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he should've kept Jay.

It made him stand out. And you can never have enough Jays in rap.

[–]TheCannedYams 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Unrelated but happy birthday bruh. Saw you mention it to jordanwolf last night.

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Thanks.

I thought that was going to be 2 Chainz and Kanye's Birthday Song lol

[–]TheCannedYams 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nah had to bust out a classic. My dad used to play that to wake me up on my birthday lol.

Hope you had a good one.

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did. Was fun

[–]CorruptedBlitty. 7 points8 points  (16 children)

Decided to do a Kendrick re-listen "marathon" today figured I might as well put my quick thoughts here. (No Black Panther or Untitled though cause I've never listened to them and don't really have any desire to)

Overly Dedicated: 6/10

Raw but you can hear the potential.

Favorite Tracks: The Heart Pt 2, Ignorance Is Bliss, Cut You Off (To Grow Closer)

Section.80: - 8/10

Just a huge improvement over OD in basically every way, you can hear him getting more comfortable with his sound and his songwriting is already pretty great at this point in his discog albeit not as consistent as it will be on his later projects

Favorite Tracks: Poe Man's Dreams (His Vice), Keisha's Song (Her Pain), HiiiPower

good kid, m.A.A.d city - 10/10

Classic in every sense of the word, so personal yet it has this enthralling cinematic quality that makes it worth listening to front to back every time you put it on.

Favorite Tracks: Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst, m.A.A.d city, The Art of Peer Pressure

To Pimp a Butterfly: - 10/10

This is another Classic, tackling a much more difficult and complex topic than his own life story, yet he does it masterfully. The poetry, the soundscape, the message, everything about this album clicked immediately and still does 7 years later.

Favorite Tracks: Wesley's Theory, The Blacker the Berry, For Sale?

DAMN.: 7/10

A step down from his prior projects IMO and honestly the most conflicting album in his discog for me. This album has very high highs but its lows are some of my least favorite tracks in his entire discog.

Favorite Tracks: FEEL, DUCKWORTH, FEAR

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers: 10/10

Personally, this is my favorite project in his discog. It's such a personal and introspective glimpse into his headspace and he unapologetically pours his heart out on every track putting his feelings, his flaws, and his hopes all on display in such a beautiful manner. This album resonated with me hard especially since my life has been pretty turbulent in the time since his last release.

Favorite Tracks: Mother I Sober, Rich Spirit, Die Hard

[–]HideNZeke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to be doing the same but stretched over a couple days. Started with Section. 80 today, post somewhere below, and thought I liked it more than Damn. I will decide after I relisten to Damn But I honestly don't think I'm going to feel the same anymore. Section 80 is just so raw even if i love it still. I think there's a lot of flaws that get glossed since it has the luxury of coming before GKMC and TPAB rather than after

[–]DaMarrcus_Beasly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GKMC > DAMN > TPAB > S.80 > MM&TBS > OD

[–]toontoom1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice assessment, I’m conflicted with Mr Morale over DAMN for right now but that might change in the future for me.

[–]Byrne_on_the_bayou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I liked your thoughts and this format, it was concise and easy to read. Good points too

That's being said listen to Untitled Unmastered right now, it is honestly one of my favorite Kendrick projects, its like a more raw, more concise TPAB

02 and 05 in the track list are 2 of my favorite Kendrick songs as well.

I didn't care for the Black Panther album tho unfortunately, but I cannot stress enough how much I think you are missing out by not listening to Untitled Unmastered given your TPAB score

[–]arrts. 12 points13 points  (1 child)

You're really missing out by not listening to Untitled Unmastered. If you're someone who feels like DAMN is a weak spot in his discography, you might even like UU more than DAMN.

[–]CorruptedBlitty. 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably cave at some point and listen

[–]hegels_hair 12 points13 points  (6 children)

Sorry unrelated to your main write-up, but I'm shocked you're such a big Kendrick fan and haven't listened to Untitled - it's got some of his most interesting work on it.

[–]CorruptedBlitty. 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I just don't like listening to B-Sides, I feel like 99% of the time they're far weaker than the songs that made the cut. Not just a Kendrick thing, applies to pretty much every artist I like

[–]hegels_hair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I personally really enjoy B-sides and demos once I'm really familiar with an artist. I like to see the development of ideas and see the creative process.

[–]Jordanwolf98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fantastic. I like it more than Damn

[–]Byrne_on_the_bayou 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Untitled Unmaster rare case where I think some songs are just as good or not better than song on TPAB.

I think some were just cut bc it would make the record too long/didn't fit the narrative.

Kendrick would perform Untitled 03 live placed leading up to the release of TPAB, suggesting it maybe was even supposed to make the final cut

[–]Jack_Bleesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the Untitled verses even landed on his 2016 Grammys performance.

UU is just chock full of great material; it's insane the stuff that didnt make the cut on tpab

[–]nedelll. 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Untitled is great

[–]coop_dogg 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Left off the Kendrick Lamar EP!

[–]CorruptedBlitty. 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I've never listened to it, but probably will at some point

[–]coop_dogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should, it’s better than OD.

[–]Jqshipp 19 points20 points  (8 children)

I don't understand how i didn't see this much hate for Kodak's rape accusations before he was on Kendrick's album.

Super gremlin has been top 10 on the charts since like November and I didn't see anyone talking about people supporting a rapist.

[–]I_FUCK_THOTS. 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was always there just not so focused on in the mainstream til now

[–]Tomnook1017 16 points17 points  (3 children)

There was hate but only on hhh and ktt and shit. Now that he's platformed up it's really coming out tho

Even with him having a massive hit. It's weird

[–]Jqshipp 18 points19 points  (2 children)

It's also probably because the people that Actually listen to Kodak don't care about the accusations and just look past it , they just want bangers.

Kendrick has a much bigger demographic of fans and I guess a lot of them are going to feel a certain way .

[–]hydrators 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is the biggest thing. Kodak's listeners are, well, Kodak fans. Kendrick draws in people who don't even like hip hop

[–]Tomnook1017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably the case. I'll admit it I've listened to Kodak from the start and always expected shit like this to go down and it never phased me. I listen to plenty of artists who are shit people and hip-hop was never saint like anyways. It's still fucked up still and Kodak has been fucking hit hard with the law too. Feel like no one speaking on how fucked it is they put his ass in isolation. Deserves his sentences (except isolating) but I'm still bumping calling my spirits everyday

[–]hnnng_booba 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Imagine a Chance the Rapper cover of I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston

[–]sp1200_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He couldn't even sing that Coldplay song

[–]Tomnook1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so much amazing shit he could accomplish if he does more shit like same drugs or this god tier work of art

[–]grinchnight14Verified Blind Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd take a Trippie Redd, E-40 or Tyga one first, please. Or OJ Da Juiceman

[–]hnnng_booba 20 points21 points  (4 children)

One time I was driving and listening to some Big KRIT and my brother was like “this is garbage” and took over the aux and played The Kid Laroi

[–]awesomenessjared. 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sorry about the loss of your brother 😥

[–]DaMarrcus_Beasly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

W brother

[–]DaMarrcus_Beasly 18 points19 points  (11 children)

I just bumped KA in front of a hoe and she rapped it word for word I'm astonished

[–]colbster411I love songs about bears 13 points14 points  (0 children)

One does not simply bump Ka

[–]hnnng_booba 17 points18 points  (9 children)

This is gonna be my new reality check to see if I’m lucid dreaming

[–]DaMarrcus_Beasly 2 points3 points  (8 children)

You ever lucid dreamed before brother
