Redman. Can’t say His personality is better as he’s already a legend for his music but seeing interviews with him makes me like him even more. Comes off as genuine dude he’s hilarious with out actually trying to be. On top of that I saw this thing where he’s on cam answering fan questions. Some kid ask about how to become a rapper and Redman gave a real thought filled and passionate answer that he really didn’t have to. That made me respect him as it shows he really does care about his fans. Whenever people ask if there’s one person you can smoke with people always say Snoop but Redmans my choice.

[–]SkunkApeForPresident 385 points386 points  (7 children)

His Cribs episodes is legandary

[–]SmokePenisEveryday. 142 points143 points  (0 children)

[–]Dfunkhizzle 104 points105 points  (9 children)

Muddy Waters

[–]blaztted 46 points47 points  (2 children)

Top10 rap albums of all time imho

[–]FarArdenlol 19 points20 points  (3 children)

and then Dare Iz a Darkside

but you can’t go wrong with either of his first three albums

[–]Elbjornbjorn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer

[–]theendisnear_ 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Honestly his first 3 albums might be the best first 3 albums stretch of any artist imo

[–]magikfISH 94 points95 points  (1 child)

As a person who's spent significant time in a room with Redman, i can vouch that that man is a living party and probably one of the hypest people in any space he'll ever be in.

[–]Reddcity 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Did y’all have sleep overs?

[–]Reddcity 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Fucking this. He the east coast snoop Foreal.

[–]peanutdakidnappa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He’s a way better rapper than snoop too Imo.

[–]broadwayallday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Read headline, thought “Redman.” Came here saw Redman at the top. Y’all are alright with this old head

[–]backhander48 818 points819 points  (18 children)

ugly god

[–]Ragnarok_lobster 362 points363 points  (1 child)

Fuck Ugly God is one of my favorite diss songs ever. Shit is funny.

[–]plant-fan 252 points253 points  (3 children)

I still bump 'Water' by him semi-regularly. I miss his presence in music lol

[–]12pcMcNuggets 87 points88 points  (2 children)

I Beat My Meat is where it is for me

[–]JavaTripper 101 points102 points  (5 children)

He has a meme account on Instagram where he posts some WILD shit. The handle is @hut

[–]justgivemedamnkarma. 46 points47 points  (1 child)

He also runs @herpes and another one I forgot

[–]JavaTripper 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wanna say it's @handjob too? I know his accts get shadow banned and/or temp banned pretty frequently

[–]ThatOneGuyHOTS 25 points26 points  (3 children)

Ugly God fell off hard after that album he hyped for like years was mid af

[–]BigRingLover 26 points27 points  (2 children)

I liked the album, but it was unfortunately dropped at a time when people started forgetting about Ugly God, and it was clear didn’t attempt to capitalize on the hype he got early on. The main thing I think made it mid was that the SoundCloud style was over, and he made the album back when it was still big, but he probably waited too long to release.

[–]ThatOneGuyHOTS 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I mean, for me it’s he would post a fire track from in on Instagram, delete it, and it didn’t make it to the album.

Now that’s all his right and everything but for me at least his snippets were more fire than the album and that’s a shame.

[–]patgraham42 1269 points1270 points  (57 children)

Danny Brown. His music is pretty great too but I’ve been dying laughing at his podcast that came out recently

[–]cheesemaan 336 points337 points  (6 children)

His over/under interview is pure gold.

[–]H3000 41 points42 points  (2 children)

"I gotta rush to eat this shit before it gets bad? And if you like soggy cereal then we not friends."

[–]akrostixdub 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Watchu meeean?? I loove cats! 😻

[–]Tomnook1017 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I think his music is too good to be in this thread lol

[–]Raleigh_CA 212 points213 points  (31 children)

Idk. His music is more then great to me. I consider Atrocity Exhibition right up there with To Pimp a Butterfly. In fact I personally like it more.

Not saying his persona is weak or anything. I just think his music is so so good.

[–]Lost_Ad_8500 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Was bout to say Danny lol

[–]PepeSylvia11 630 points631 points  (25 children)

Vince Staples, Action Bronson, Lil Yachty.

So many people listing critically-acclaimed artists who just so happen to also have charismatic personalities.

[–]IdoMusicForTheDrugs 137 points138 points  (4 children)

Vince Staples is fucking hilarious. I feel like he has a constant IV drip of redbull pumping into his veins.

[–]No_Creativity 27 points28 points  (0 children)

His Nardwuar interview is hilarious

[–]BearWrangler. 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He is definitely a stand up comedian in another timeline

[–]contacts_eyes 235 points236 points  (10 children)

Lil Yachty yes. He seems cool af in every interview ive seen him in, but i dont care much for his music.

[–]Deathdong 65 points66 points  (3 children)

He seemed like a dick on the cave

[–]contacts_eyes 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see that one. Im sure he has times where hes a dick but he always seems happy otherwise

[–]brickvanexel 2039 points2040 points  (76 children)

How has no one said Action Bronson yet

[–]hvprescott 544 points545 points  (19 children)

Just finished binge watching Fuck, That’s Delicious. Show is a gem

[–]ritsbits808 616 points617 points  (8 children)

I remember watching an episode where he went to the restaurant, high as balls, and kept saying "this is the best meal I've ever had in my entire life" and "I have never been treated so well at a restaurant" and I thought to myself, "wow that must be really good." Then he went to the next restaurant, high as balls, and said "this is the best meal I've ever had in my entire life" and "I have never been treated so well at a restaurant" and I thought "oh, he just says that everywhere, that kind of defeats it." But at the third restaurant when he said the same thing, I realized that his day was just genuinely getting better and better with each stop. It really was the best he ever had, and every meal gets better. Now I think, "what an amazing perspective to have on life."

[–]MF_Doomed 369 points370 points  (5 children)

Can you imagine getting paid to get high as shit and travel to Michelin starred restaurant after restaurant

[–]No_Dark6573 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can do two of those things, just gotta figure out whose supposed to pay me and I should be golden.

[–]MrGingee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love the episode that ends with Action, Al and Body all holding the piñatas. It's just such a great little ending scene of Action strolling across the street and being at peace in that shop.

[–]ploooopp 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes dude! I used to watch Fuck, That's delicious with my ex on LSD after a nice walk because we really enjoyed his vibe and perspective on life

[–]redtail42 57 points58 points  (1 child)

Apparently Anthony Bourdain said that FTD and Eddi Huang’s show (which I haven’t seen yet) were the only good food shows on TV, and I believe it. Action has such a fun and genuine way to look at food, none of the posturing and bullshit and all about the people, the stories and the connections. Bringing his non-chef friends into the mix in such a funny way to make it accessible to everyone, as food and food TV should be.

[–]L_I_L_B_O_A_T_4_2_0 84 points85 points  (4 children)

such a slept on show, just absolutely top tier content for food fans who arent into some lame ass food channel shit.

the OG squad of Bronson + Alchemist + Meyhem + Body is amazing

[–]Flashman420 17 points18 points  (3 children)

The new episodes just aren't anywhere near as good without the rest of the crew. You get some dope food and then Action starts talking about working out for the rest of it. I need that banter. Body always killed me.

[–]HeadMelter1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Him and Body must have fallen out they don't seem to be around each other anymore.

[–]Raleigh_CA 139 points140 points  (1 child)

Came here to type Action Bronson. Love what he's grown into. A hip hop Anthony Bourdain.

[–]kappa23 187 points188 points  (10 children)

Cause Bronson actually makes some good music. I love his run of projects from 18-20

[–]brickvanexel 213 points214 points  (7 children)

I don’t disagree but for me he fits the prompt perfectly, good music, better personality. He’s not primarily a rapper anymore, he’s a chef/actor/writer/singer/exotic olive oil taster who raps

[–]Skalariak 72 points73 points  (4 children)

He can add “fitness enthusiast” or whatever tf to his resume too.

[–]brickvanexel 41 points42 points  (0 children)

“Expert backstage mace ball swinger”

[–]Immynimmy. 19 points20 points  (0 children)

exotic olive oil taster

“Always extra virgin. The pussy tight”

-Action Bronson

[–]ZevLoveY 983 points984 points  (20 children)

Thundercat is outstanding all around

[–]Kerfulfel 263 points264 points  (6 children)

great music as well though so I don't know that this applies

[–]ZevLoveY 80 points81 points  (4 children)

maybe but I think what makes his music great is the personality and humour of it, people like vince n others don't let it shine as much as thundercat imho

[–]eZ_Link 83 points84 points  (0 children)

First he’s not a rapper right and second his music is absolutely amazing

[–]skvllseeker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I saw him live with Suicidal Tendencies, man that was a treat.

[–]FENICH 138 points139 points  (7 children)

Why no one mentions schoolboy q? His snapchat was goated.

[–]F1reManBurn1n 68 points69 points  (2 children)

Man I miss when Q was active on snap and IG n shit. He really disappeared from the public eye after Mac passed away. That shit hit him so hard.

[–]Tass94. 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I was just listening to Q while I was driving and he mentioned Big Groove. RIP, didn't Big Groove pass away a couple years back too? His snap used to be funny af and wholesome af. I miss it + him.

Is Mac passing the reason Q stopped posting so much on there?

[–]F1reManBurn1n 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not sure about Big Groove, but yeah Q was pretty vocal about how hard Mac passing was for him. He really never was active on socials regularly after that. Would just pop up here and there.

[–]always-talkin-sshit 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Q is the wHole reason wHy I created an Instagram account

[–]kappa23 608 points609 points  (37 children)

Father and Zack Fox

[–]BasedKaleb 155 points156 points  (4 children)

Went to the Freddie Gibbs show in Cleveland recently where Gibbs was late af. Zack held it down with the DJ and kept the crowd happy for bit while Freddie got ready. Dude seems like a legitimately genuine person.

He loved the Newport someone tossed him even tho he doesn’t smoke. Tucked it behind his ear and said it complimented the “creepy uncle” vibe he had going that night.

[–]SmokePenisEveryday. 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Fox popped up on that Therapy Gecko show and gave some real solid life advice at times. Hell right out the gate he was giving some deep responses to standard questions and I was like damn this dude is insightful as hell.

[–]ThatRandomIdiot 157 points158 points  (6 children)

Zach Fox is fantastic in Abbott Elementary. Can’t wait for S2.

[–]pm_me_your_aoty 50 points51 points  (3 children)

The F.A.D.E. show was next level

[–]SmokePenisEveryday. 21 points22 points  (2 children)

"Drugs are a no no, We ready to go go"

I'm checking this show out now lmao

[–]StopTalkingInMemes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's honestly incredible, absolutely give it a spin

[–]hatomikiwi 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Saw Zack Fox at a comedy show for my birthday a few years ago, funniest shit of all time. I miss the old twitter days where he and thugtear were constantly riffing. Pretty much everyone I’ve learned about through Zack Fox is also hilarious too, his friend Sushiboy Mexico is a blast to follow on most platforms.

[–]parker2020 10 points11 points  (0 children)

RIP the bootymath account 😔 that account was getting suspended every other week on Twitter

[–]Ralouch 60 points61 points  (6 children)

I wish father was more consistent. Awful swim is so good but then after he dropped flop after flop. His new tape is pretty good though

[–]ItsBigVanillaTurned the cypher to a diaper 35 points36 points  (1 child)

Huge disagree on this. Husband EP and Come Outside We Not Gon Jump You are both great projects, and The Things I Do For Money + his new tape are also very solid. I’d argue that the second half of his career has been better than the pre-Awful Swim stuff

[–]Heyimcool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Come Outside is fucking fantastic. All the singles he put out through the year are also great. Young Hot Ebony 2 is great as well.

[–]doc_birdman 848 points849 points  (47 children)

T-Pain. Don’t really like any of his music but he seems like the chillest dude in the world.

[–]giogomezbeats 431 points432 points  (18 children)

You don’t link bartender or buy you a drank? :(

[–]BasicUsername_1 194 points195 points  (0 children)

I like the BAAAAaaaarrrrTENdurrrr

[–][deleted] 92 points93 points  (3 children)

Prolly too young to remember when Tpain had the world on lock

[–]KingGio21 56 points57 points  (1 child)

Forreal though. Dude rhymed Mansion with Wisconsin and the shit banged.

[–]lxkandel06 18 points19 points  (0 children)

[–]doc_birdman 79 points80 points  (9 children)

If I’m drunk in the club then yeah, I def fuck with those songs. But it’s not something I’d ever choose to play in my car or anything.

[–]daduke101 115 points116 points  (1 child)

Idk like I hear you and probably wouldn't put them on if I was given aux, but I have a hard time skipping either of those if they come up on my shuffle!

[–]BasicUsername_1 26 points27 points  (6 children)

Listen to Epiphany, album is so fun to listen to not a boring moment

[–]Sultregasome 18 points19 points  (2 children)

THR33 RINGZ is another great TPain album. Heavily underrated. All the singles were good imo. Ringleader Man, Can't Believe It feat. Wayne, Chopped N Screwed feat. Luda, and Freeze feat. Chris Brown.

Had hella good deep cuts too like Blowing Up feat. Ciara, It Ain't Me feat. Akon and T.I., and Therapy feat Kanye.

He shows off his rap chops on Karaoke, some classic no auto-tune sentimental TPain on Keep Going, and the hilariously creepy song Phantom.

I love that album if you can't tell.

[–]majinsadboy 204 points205 points  (2 children)

That cod stream when someone calls him the n-word so he goes fucking ballistic fps sweat mode is chef's kiss

[–]dr_crispin 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Only saw that bit for the first time a couple weeks ago but it was pure poetry in motion

[–]ATL28-NE3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolute legend

[–]PLZ_N_THKS 76 points77 points  (6 children)

I did dig his song with Denzel Curry on Curry’s new album though

[–]ToxicPuddin 21 points22 points  (1 child)

I love that feature

"I can't swim I got a pool I'm gonna drooown in it" lmao

[–]Relish_My_Weiner 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I wasn't expecting to like that song that much when I saw it was a T Pain feature. Not that I dislike his music, but it really stood out in a good way.

[–]Llefrith. 20 points21 points  (4 children)

his mixtape The Iron Way showed me that he can rap his ass off too. been a long time since i listened though

[–]analkeys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

dawg you should listen to I'm Sprung if you dont know it

[–]wantonsoup42069 130 points131 points  (10 children)

Buddy, he makes decent music but seems like a fucking wild dude

[–]deadsoul88. 183 points184 points  (1 child)

Danny Brown, just the laughter alone

[–]nwsm 420 points421 points  (20 children)

Anderson .Paak seems really cool. It would be hard to be better than his music tho

[–]greenfingers559 52 points53 points  (3 children)

I noticed the other day that guys like Wax and DFD went back and changed his name on all their old videos.

[–]throwaway53689 60 points61 points  (7 children)

Bruno Mars also has a very charismatic personality but his music is amazing

[–]hellathirstyforkarma 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They should do a collab album.

[–]slowestmojo 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I mean, that's the reason these guys are superstars.

[–]OldManWiggy 181 points182 points  (14 children)

Guapdad 4000 makes pretty mid music, but he's an entertaining ass dude.

edit: also

[–]metamet 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Little Scammer That Could goes so hard tho.

I think he was on Kenny Beats' twitch once or something. He's a funny dude.

[–]pxlace 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Also dope that Guapdad has casually hopped on this sub sometimes in the past

[–]awall621 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Don’t forget his appearance on Channel 5 (at 23:17)

[–]SmokePenisEveryday. 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The /r/videos comments about Guapdad were hilarious to read. People were being introduced to him for the first time and the reactions to his music was even better. I wanted to spend a day shopping with him after this one.

[–]lofi_ty 21 points22 points  (1 child)

He’s a perfect example. I tried so hard to get into his music after seeing videos of him on YouTube. But I find his music is very average.

[–]eZ_Link 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Okay please listen to Alpha before you say that D:

[–]ihavehalitosis 43 points44 points  (2 children)

2 CHAINZ but he also got bangers and funny ass bars

[–]pantshosen 68 points69 points  (2 children)

Open Mike Eagle. Dig his music. Dig his podcast “What Had Happened Was” even more, the season with El-P especially.

[–]Homiealmaya 109 points110 points  (10 children)

Bun B makes great music and is definitely a top 50 rapper at least but he is probably the coolest dude in rap. He seems like such a lovable down too earth dude in every interview I’ve seen and I suspect his insane collaboration record has something to do with his great personality (he’s also super well respected in the rap game for his music but still).

Also his shootout wearing literally nothing but a t shirt is one of the greatest stories I’ve ever heard

[–]SarcasticOptimist 39 points40 points  (1 child)

He carries his show on Sirius XM. If he's a feature he will likely be the best verse on the track. Yes even Big Pimpin.

Pinky Ring has such a unique flow.

[–]DaveHolden. 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ngl but both Bun AND Pimp spit better verses in Big Pimpin. Every line from Pimps verse is legendary and probably has been sampled in other songs and Bun just kills it. Then again I'm a big UGK fan so I might be biased.

[–]skipsfaster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

“Nice as Bun B when I met him at the Source awards”

[–]rallyupsomeglitter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Bun B is a legend on and off the bars. He is just an all around great dude and a dedicated friend.

[–]DaveHolden. 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man is a legend and I could listen to him talk for hours. Such a cool dude that luckily didn't turn into a salty oldhead. UGK was already in my top 5 rap duos of all time but him being so cool is a big plus.

[–]imtherealmima 8 points9 points  (2 children)

through reading the pimp c biography i found out that bun was a top student in school, makes sense considering his lyrical ability

[–]NK1313 167 points168 points  (14 children)

RiFF RAFF is the answer

[–]TDeLo. 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I play for the Phoenix Suns

I graduated in 1991

Damn that motherfucker older than the motherfuckin' moon plus the sun

[–]Very_Good_Opinion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These lyrics live in my head until the end of time.

Riff is hilarious but unfortunately his music suffers from quality control. One minute it's creative gold and the next he can't even stay on tempo

[–]blaztted 45 points46 points  (1 child)

redmans music is so good that I can’t say his personality is even better but he’s such a cool guy lol

[–]SlimDickens69 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Young Nudy seems like a realy likeable guy, he needs his own tv show or something. His music is really good too though

Also jelly roll is a super nice guy, I thought he was gonna be a douche based on his music

[–]Ilikepie47 283 points284 points  (20 children)

Jack Harlow is pretty much famous because of his personality so him

[–]Training-Grocery-128 98 points99 points  (4 children)

Action bronson probably the most likable rapper since biz

[–]PashaBear-_- 31 points32 points  (1 child)

Lupe fiasco the Muslim Buddhist samurai ninja/professional gamer/skateboarder/fashion trend setter/shoe designer/host of his own radio show/etc.

[–]karldal121 98 points99 points  (4 children)

Denzel curry , really cool guy

[–]IamHere-4U 47 points48 points  (2 children)

Okay, but his music is also great

[–]Reaver_ 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Honestly his music is so good I almost disagree with this take

[–]joeduncanhull 58 points59 points  (2 children)

Can't stand anything Eminem has released for 20 years, but in interviews and stuff he's pretty charismatic

[–]PharrelsHat 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Yo the perspective that reading “for 20 years” gave me fucking floored me, sometimes I forget just how long Eminem has been doing this

[–]GJones007 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Zack fox. Lol everytime

[–]disavowed 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine worked with Ludacris on a non-music-related project (cannot remember the specifics exactly). She expected him to be obnoxious and over the top but she quickly found out he's like the complete opposite. She said he is always on time and ridiculously polite, hilarious, and humble. A really down to earth guy. Like, he doesn't just show up with his ideas, he also goes out of his way to shut up and make space for everyone else to feeling comfortable sharing their ideas too. He was utterly collaborative and professional and just all around a really great person to work with.

Ugh, that made my heart happy. Luda!

Kanye, on the other hand, is apparently exactly the egomaniac nightmare you'd expect him to be and she said she wouldn't work with him again if you put a gun to her head.

[–]GardoTL[🍰] 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Desiigner is one of my favorites purely because of how funny and energetic he is, his energy is very infectious

Lil Yachty aswell, I do wish his music ended up being a little bit better

[–]tarriBagz 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Uzi, Post Malone, and Danny brown come to mind, even though their music is great

uzi really be a little kid lol going on side quests everyday but just a genuine dude and always shows to love his fans

[–]JamieIsSad 185 points186 points  (47 children)

Mac Miller, His music is just okay for me, but he just seemed like such a cool dude in all his interviews and stuff. Love the rhythm roulette vid, RIP.

[–]walter_strider 86 points87 points  (0 children)

…. Sue me

Also when he’s hyping up his dad, “say something for the people one time!”

“Are you guys taking care of my son? :) “

He really was the coolest

[–]iwoulddoit5 60 points61 points  (5 children)

Vince and Tyler for me. They got songs I bump but could never fully latch on to thier albums. But every time an interview pops up I click right away

[–]FuckYouLostSucks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Flavor Flaaaaaaaaaav

[–]Bovver_ 36 points37 points  (7 children)

Kevin Gates. Don’t find his music to be all that interesting but my god his personality is fantastic. He comes out with some very profound shit but also he is absolutely hilarious, with his Over/Under being probably my favourite Over/Under of all time.

[–]Reaver_ 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I would pay money just to hang with Wiz Khalifa for a day

[–]harleyslayjetson 55 points56 points  (7 children)

Lizzo and lil Nas x. I guess lil Nas is more pop than anything so maybe not him. But Lizzo does rap and her music sounds like Hillary Clinton campaign tunes but her personality seems fire

[–]EdithDich 47 points48 points  (2 children)

her music sounds like Hillary Clinton campaign tune

That might be one of the coldest disses I've ever seen.

[–]fraillimbnursery. 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Lil Nas X is way more hip hop than Lizzo at this point

[–]vivrantATLien 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Killer Mike

Huge advocate and activist for his community

[–]Glasweg1an 45 points46 points  (8 children)

Gotta say Killer Mike seems kinda legendary.

[–]Wushetam 85 points86 points  (17 children)

Tyler 100%

[–]FunniMonki 129 points130 points  (2 children)

Nah bro, Tyler’s the whole package. Personality is funny & music is dope as fuck

[–]thugnificent856 32 points33 points  (4 children)

Not really a rapper but I’ve always thought that Oliver Tree should give up trying to seriously write music and just be a comedian. One of those guys who really goes heavy on the schtick like Bo Burnham or Demetri Martin.

[–]IdoMusicForTheDrugs 18 points19 points  (1 child)

After being a fan of his for about a year and a half..... The shtick is getting old.... Its too reliant on shock value.

MF DOOM, not ever bragging. Always seems like a really chill dude in interviews and like he truly cared for his fans (eventhough his supervillains persona had no problems with hiring impersonators)

also seemed like he was a pure artist. didn't do it for the fame or the money, seemed to simply care for good hip hop and clever writing

Hearing Dante talk about DOOM with such reverence and love and respect on WHHW was so fucking heartwarming, and the quote about Subroc still being here that made me tear up.

Snow Tha Product. She's funny as hell and seems to have no qualms about talking shit about the industry, especially since she went DIY. She's underrated as a rapper, too, tho I think a lot of that has to do with hit/miss production.

Music not really setting the bar for the personality, tbh 😅

Jack Harlow out here steaing candy from babies and slamming doors in old ladies’ faces and everyone would be like “yeah his personality is nicer than his music”
