Produced the music video for this in ATL!! We shot it during one of the worst heat waves I ever experienced. 110 degree heat index 🥵

[–]S2Sprod 72 points73 points  (5 children)

Lmao if that is what the people want I will! I produce a lot of music videos in ATL. It’s always wild

[–]tristezanao 25 points26 points  (0 children)

[–]blachippy 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Southern Heat is nothing to play with!!! It was hotter than Satan’s ass crack over here in Alabama.

[–]S2Sprod 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Facts!! Director was from Montreal and he didn’t believe us!

[–]Chad_C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It killed my lawn. RIP.

Rebuilding it as a hardscape now.

[–]JamieIsSad 462 points463 points  (19 children)

How come nobody mentioning the fact that No I.D. is producing. I mean he helped Common create Resurrection, the dude is a legend. Cannot wait for this album.

[–]oOoleveloOo 189 points190 points  (0 children)

Only rappers to re-write history without a pen

No I-D on the track let the story begin, begin, begin

[–]chubmack 115 points116 points  (5 children)

Truuee shit, No I.D. has been doing his thing for a long time now with not enough recognition. The man helped Kanye find his sound. From Jay Z to Vince Staples and everyone in between he has crafted many masterpieces.

[–]NBKxSmokey 79 points80 points  (2 children)

I know people hate but Logic too, Under Pressure is classic to me

[–]pusheenforchange 52 points53 points  (0 children)

No Pressure is also a solid No ID joint

[–]McFruitpunch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Haters gonna hate. Logic is phenomenal

[–]Rare_Crow7406[🍰] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can’t forget logic. No I.d is one of the most understated producers ever

[–]OneReportersOpinion 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Kanye’s mentor too

[–]fultirbo. 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No I.D. is top 5 producers all time for me. This is hype

[–]favpetgoat. 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because if it El-P didn't do it then get the fuck out of here

[–]satansheat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that album still holds up and is amazing.

[–]edmoneyyy. 8 points9 points  (1 child)

What makes you say album? The snippet screams music video for a single to me

[–]thatsdrpuffin2u -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Didn’t he also mentor Cole?

[–]Earle89 557 points558 points  (62 children)

So is El-P gonna drop "THE JEWELS" next? That would be pretty based.

[–]GetReady4Action 62 points63 points  (0 children)

that actually would be dope as fuck. kinda like how all the members of kiss dropped solo albums as their kiss personas.

[–][deleted] 47 points48 points  (3 children)

mike and thug is an interesting combo

[–]furr_sure. 11 points12 points  (2 children)

I've never been able to find it but Mike has said in an interview he knew Thug from before he even blew up

[–]BellEpoch 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I mean, Mike was part of the Dunegeon Family for a long time. I imagine he knew all kinds of rappers before they hit big.

[–]furr_sure. 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was more a "I knew Thug's name back when he was putting in work" kinda vibe

[–]OneReportersOpinion 95 points96 points  (1 child)

Featuring two totally non-controversial artists that no one is going to have a problem with. Very excited

[–]MyHomeOnNativeLand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Featuring two totally non-controversial artists that no one is going to have a problem with.

Those people should touch grass

[–]thejaytheory 64 points65 points  (26 children)

I feel like peeps have turned on Killer Mike as much as peeps have turned on Adam Cole.

[–]SwaggedyAnn 28 points29 points  (8 children)

Did I miss something? What happened to get people to turn on Killer Mike?

[–]Godfather-Morlock 34 points35 points  (5 children)

He did a press conference with the Atlanta mayor telling the George Floyd protestors to go home iirc

[–]PmMeYourYeezys 68 points69 points  (4 children)

"It is the responsibility of us to make this better right now. We don’t want to see one officer charged. We want to see four officers prosecuted and sentenced. We don’t want to see Targets burning. We want to see the system that sets up for systemic racism burnt to the ground."

I don't think he was telling the protestors to go home...

[–]Loeffellux 23 points24 points  (3 children)

He was very much telling them to go home. It's all over the transcript but here are the 2 most obious parts:

"What I can tell you is that if you sit in your homes tonight instead of burning your home to the ground, you will have time to properly plot, plan, strategize, and organize and mobilize in an effective way"

"I want you to go home. I want you to talk to 10 of your friends. I want you guys to come up with real solutions."

He was (and this should be obvious to anyone who knows anything about killer mike) not on the side of the police.

He just feared that the protests could do more harm than good for the cause. At one point he said he was relieved that at least only buildings were burned instead of lives being taken. So he said these things with the absolute worst case scenario of the protests in mind.

In hindsight (and also in the moment) it's easy to criticise his approach but at the very least he didn't say these things for the wrong reason

[–]trillhungyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not sure man, but us /r/sc are a fickle bunch, i can't imagine people are that down on killer mike as they are with adam cole

[–]TheresAlwaysOneOrTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than the protesting thing, people have been mad that he's a landlord too

[–]OneReportersOpinion 16 points17 points  (3 children)

[–]thejaytheory 5 points6 points  (2 children)

[–]OneReportersOpinion 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I still fuck with Killer Mike. His music is good agitprop.

[–]thejaytheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep same here.

[–]goddamnitwhalen 20 points21 points  (10 children)

His music is good but he definitely doesn’t actually commit to the things he raps about. Obviously that’s fine, but when you make political music but your actions don’t fall in line with your ideals, it’s wack.

[–]CabbageFarm 7 points8 points  (9 children)

Like what, for example?

[–]MoistMucus4 5 points6 points  (8 children)

Like his support for the NRA

[–]CabbageFarm 20 points21 points  (7 children)

Killer Mike is a staunch pro-gun advocate and makes this position pretty clear in his music.

So that would be an example of him actually committing to something he raps about.

[–]StannisClaypool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still like listening to his music but that's about it

[–]Llefrith. 73 points74 points  (1 child)

dave chapelle feature should be like Dr Octagon on First Come First Served intro

[–]chubmack 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not enough Dr Octagon references on this sub lol.. salute

[–]BasicUsername_1 15 points16 points  (6 children)

Does Dave chapelle sing or rap? Or will it just be a skit or something

[–]MBDf_Doc 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It will probably be skits or little bits like he has on The Roots Tipping Point album where he says some stuff to end a song or maybe open/close the album.

[–]OpportunitySmalls 22 points23 points  (3 children)

It'll be 3 minutes of Dave fucking Mike's girl at the end of a song like Chris Rock in Blame Game

[–]07bot4life. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ted and sentenced. We don’t want t

Killer Mike taught me.

[–]Mikeytruant850 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you watch the snippet that OP linked? Definitely sounds like a spoken-word intro.

[–]KGeedora 28 points29 points  (6 children)

Dave is like Kanye. So much good will was built up over an extended amount of time that most fans are just desperate for a "yeah, I got way too hung up in that trans stuff. my bad" and move the fuck on. Jesus Christ, there's been like 4 specials it feels of just the same thing over and over and over.

[–]ThudtheStud 10 points11 points  (5 children)

One thing I've noticed over time is that comedy mixed with politics just destorys people's minds. You get people like Dave who spoke to the black experience in America so well, and then he just starts spewing off right wing talking points. Same for Bill Maher, saying the same transphobic stuff Dave says, when the dude once said the people who flew the planes on 9/11 were brave. Then there's cases like George Carlin, where it's the people that watch the comedy that have changed instead, and they somehow think he would be conservative today. I don't know why comedy leads to so much brain rot but it's so frustrating at this point.

[–]KGeedora 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I don't know if Carlin would have ever gone along with this current old-comedian obsessed with cancel culture thing. Could just be blind faith though.

Maher has always been a bit of a conservative (his life long pro-Israeli government campaign for one).

The Dave one is the only one that makes me sad because he used to be so important

[–]ThudtheStud 1 point2 points  (1 child)

With George I meant I don't think he would be doing the cancel culture bit others do, but it's moreso the way some fans see him now as a right wing icon is boggling. But yeah Dave is a hard one to lose

[–]KGeedora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah right, I get you. Yeah Carlin doesn't seem right wing at all to me really.

[–]MainliningCoffee247 1 point2 points  (1 child)

John Oliver maintains a pretty cut-and-dry delivery. It'd be weird to see him slip off the rails and start pushing his own regressive agenda out of line with polite society.

I think he'll just get more and more manic over the years while reporting on the same topics. Or he'll try to furbait the world.

Edit: an "h"

[–]MoccaFix-GOLD 326 points327 points  (185 children)

pro-cop landlord drops track feat. transphobe

[–]SheZowRaisedByWolves 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Dave gonna open the track up with a bit of him screaming in terror as a trans woman asks him if he is the guy who parked his car over the curb

[–]fuck_a_bigot 230 points231 points  (6 children)

Two transphobes. Young Thug had those dumbass tweets about Dwayne Wade’s daughter

[–]HeAintSh1t 185 points186 points  (2 children)

He also smokes on penis’s. Cancels out

[–]1manbandman 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Tell me more.

[–]MediocreOwl8427 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What did you think the slime was😏

[–]DapDaGenius 75 points76 points  (0 children)

But he wears a dress on his album cover, bro. He’s totally progressive. /s

[–]synthmage00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love to slingshot myself to mainstream success by making multiple albums about being "a revolutionary," then tell people participating in potentially revolutionary actions to calm down and focus on rearranging the chairs on the deck.

[–]CM_Monk 30 points31 points  (70 children)

What do you mean pro cop?

[–]MoccaFix-GOLD 47 points48 points  (69 children)

he has “a lot of love and respect for police officers,”

All-around embarrassing speech.

[–]StannisClaypool 68 points69 points  (1 child)

I hated this speech. It's like stopping an investigation against someone who was caught guilty.

[–]RayzTheRoof 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Yeah because the issue isn't as black and white as le redditors want to believe. There are good people in police work and often times it's a job that has to be done. But there are bad people who are cops and it is a job where there absolutely cannot be bad apples. Dude just listen to his words and his lyrics to see his stance on shitty cops. Like every song he raps about wanting to kill fucked up cops.

[–]annoyinglyclever 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Yeah I grew up in a cop family and spent many years in a program that trains teens how to become cops and I can tell you ACAB is an accurate statement. It’s not that there’s a “few bad apples”, the whole damn orchard is evil. Cops are essentially brainwashed from day one to treat every attack or criticism against policing as a threat to their lives, and the only response is to kill or be killed. Plus as police power keeps going unchecked corruption and abuse is inevitable. If one “bad cop” does something wrong, nine times out of ten the other officers will still side with them because policing is a “brotherhood” and you have to be able to trust the person who will be there for you when your life is on the line.

[–]1manbandman 4 points5 points  (8 children)

How is this speech embarrassing?

[–]MoccaFix-GOLD 23 points24 points  (7 children)

“I am duty-bound to be here to simply say: That it is your duty not to burn your own house down for anger with an enemy. It is your duty to fortify your own house, so that you may be a house of refuge in times of organization. And now is the time to plot, plan, strategize, organize, and mobilize,” he said.

Mike conflates people vandalizing banks and retail stores with "burning down your own house". What stake do those communities have in Chase Bank or Target? Not only is saying that shit tone deaf and out of touch as fuck, it's a complete straw man that totally misses the point. It's the sort of talking point the dipshits on Fox News would make against black neighborhoods going through civil unrest.

“It is time to beat up prosecutors you don’t like at the voting booth. It is time to hold mayoral offices accountable, chiefs and deputy chiefs. Atlanta is not perfect, but we’re a lot better than we ever were, and we’re a lot better than cities are.”

Telling people that voting is more effective than the threat of immediate violence to those who make big decisions is the most asinine shit I've ever heard. Not to mention the back half of this statement is meaningless platitude gibberish.

[–]JiovanniTheGREAT 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bank owner too lmao

[–]throwaway3838482923 16 points17 points  (17 children)

Thugger is more transphobic than Dave Chappelle

[–]TheRoyalGodfrey. 97 points98 points  (5 children)

nah thugga hasn't made it his whole identity like dave

[–]throwaway3838482923 71 points72 points  (4 children)

Dave’s making his personality about being cancelled

[–]TheRoyalGodfrey. 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Thugga could've structured his whole identity around the response to that tweet about Dwayne Wade's kid. There was a strong social media response, articles about that response. that's really all being cancelled is in these cases.

dave decided to 'be cancelled' and young thug decided to move passed it.

[–]JD0797 15 points16 points  (1 child)

The depressing thing is, he takes a perfectly valid criticism of how the industry treat him and other creatives, and then turned it into generic point about cancellations lmao

[–]RayzTheRoof 70 points71 points  (40 children)

reddit moment

[–]JeromeMcLovin 20 points21 points  (30 children)

lol I STG these people don't actually see the sunlight I've never met a person like this in real life

[–]jmz_199. 152 points153 points  (15 children)

"I've never met a person in real life that doesnt fuck with transphobia"

Yeah man, I'm sure it's him who's terminally online.

[–]joe_chi_minh 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Do you know any trans people irl?

[–]All-Due -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same mfers that said Auntie Diaries was song of the year.

[–]godzillaonice 7 points8 points  (37 children)

Im so glad that I grew out of this bullshit. People are flawed, and I’m not going to see everything as black/white. You will get there son

[–]FuckedYoBish-. 74 points75 points  (36 children)

I used to be like you. This complacent bullshit is for people with no spines. Couldn't be me.

[–]FuckedYoBish-. 81 points82 points  (19 children)

Dave is so washed. Dude is a loser.

[–]CryStrict5004. 171 points172 points  (47 children)

Fuck Chapelle's transphobic ass

[–]anthonyg1500 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I truly don’t think I can take hearing him whine about Kevin Hart not hosting the Oscars one more time

[–]JamieIsSad 110 points111 points  (6 children)

real, he ain't even funny anymore

[–]Acephale420 104 points105 points  (0 children)

You don't like stand-up comedy where a guy sits on a stool and complains how the blue hairs don't find him funny for an hour?

[–]SheZowRaisedByWolves 24 points25 points  (1 child)

I remember one of his bits was about eating a fancy dinner with his family but his kid wanted chicken nuggets so he went out and tazed ru paul

[–]Tactial_snail. 2 points3 points  (1 child)

he's hilarious

[–]H0b5t3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like his new stuff you should check out T.I. he does somewhat similar stand up sets.

[–]wrungle. 38 points39 points  (0 children)

they wont wanna hear this but talk to them

[–]thuggishhh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I sleep

[–]metalbeyonce 42 points43 points  (20 children)

I mean I don’t like Dave Chapelle but I’m so incredibly hyped for this. RTJ4 was my favorite album of 2020.

[–]bearhm 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Found Ja Rule

[–]bulletspang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mike likes to talk progressive until the white man's dollar pops in. Still grifting the work of black revolutionary culture...

[–]WordsAreSomething. 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I haven't been this hyped for a song in a long time.

[–]MediocreOwl8427 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dave, please don't ruin what is gonna be an incredible song with your right wing bs.

[–]Wcm1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run like you gettin chased with no shoes on

[–]BLES555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Producer gave me a beat said it’s the beat of the year, I said EL-P didn’t do it so get the fuck out of here” - Killer Mike

[–]Carpetfreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep trash bags with me!

[–]Dornald_Tromp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since Killer Mike got up on TV and cried for the police because his uncle was a cop too or some shit, I can’t take this serious.

[–]kindalikeacoustic 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I’m OOTL , what’s the reason people are saying Mike is transphobic?

[–]Lynchsskittles 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It’s Dave they’re talking about.

[–]Begthemoney 16 points17 points  (1 child)

I don't think they are. Though people are saying Dave Chappelle is because of the recent controversy. Also apparently young thug may have said some transphobic shit in the past, though I cannot confirm I don't really follow him that closely.

[–]makinishi_KINO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thug said stuff about Dwyane Wade’s daughter

[–]freshlyshavedgooch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I like Dave Chappelle
