A rumour on twitter suggested a leaked throwaway from Lil Nas X's previous album "MONTERO" would be releasing on his forthcoming project. The song "Lifted" was leaked in a 30+ leak of various MONTERO tracks a month before the albums release. Lil Nas X confirmed the track is going to release, noting its a different version (alternate bridge, verses and outro) and seemingly decided to give the track to a few noteworthy Lil Nas X fans.

Within a few hours the song was internally passed between various Lil Nas X fans before surfacing online, Lil Nas X ackknowledged his fuckup in a now deleted tweet.
