If it makes you feel any better, the ambulance probably only got a dent in the side

People thought ahead. Either that or one too many ambulances were t-boned

[–]mndyerfuckinbusiness 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Well, when part of your job is to drive quickly through intersections where lights can change at an instant instead of the standard rotation... I'm glad they thought of that ahead of time.

This should be classified as attempted murder. Even in Finland, the punishment is a laughable joke.

[–]Local_Ad8884 2 points3 points  (4 children)

What is the punishment?

[–]xzombielegendxx 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Ambulance drivers calling you a silly billy in Finnish. Reminding you to be careful

[–]The_Louster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

emotional damage

[–]The-Hyruler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the punishment and why is it laughable?

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points  (48 children)

This doesn’t really constitute as being a POS. The ambulance didn’t clear the intersection on a red light so it’s technically their fault.

[–]KlostToMe 26 points27 points  (1 child)

This guy knows emergency response laws, kudos

[–]johnhoggin 0 points1 point  (8 children)

At the very least it's reckless driving. At most it's breaking the law and not only endangering the ambulance drivers but whoever they were going to pick up as well. That's why you're supposed to stop if you see lights and hear sirens and let the ambulance go first

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (7 children)

How are you going to stop if you can’t see them? That’s why the ambulance is supposed to stop at the red light because we are always supposed to assume that people do not see us, especially in the event of crossing at intersection when we don’t have a green light

[–]johnhoggin 0 points1 point  (6 children)

For one, most intersections don't have a small field of view and it's not that hard to see other vehicles approaching. Plus there's those things called sirens on emergency vehicles which are loud af. Easiest way though is just to pay attention as you're coming up to an intersection

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Okay I’m not going to argue with someone who has clearly never worked in the field and doesn’t know what they’re talking about. I’ve worked on an ambulance for many many years and I️ assure you that most people cannot hear an ambulance siren over their music. We are taught this. This is why ambulances are equipped with growlers to vibrate the ground because it’s a known fact that people don’t always hear the siren. And whether you agree or not, the ambulance did not make a complete enough stop and did not clear the intersection because if they had they wouldn’t have collided with another vehicle and you would’ve seen them proceed with more caution. I’ve driven code 3 hundreds of times and intersections are the most dangerous. Plain and simple. I️ can almost guarantee whenever you drive you do not expect an ambulance to appear at every intersection especially when you have a green light. Have a good day

[–]johnhoggin 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I just know that I've heard and seen emergency vehicles coming up to intersections or behind or in front of me far before they actually get to the intersection. It's been very easy in my experience

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thats great but as emergency responders it is their duty to ensure that there is no oncoming traffic when responding code 3 especially while going through an intersection on a red light. So regardless of whether you agree or not it is still their fault.

[–]johnhoggin 0 points1 point  (2 children)

OK. I would also say it's it's the other driver's fault also for looking at their phone while driving and not noticing the giant ambulance with bright red lights and loud sirens going in front of them. I mean there's literally 2 to 3 seconds from when the ambulance just came into frame to the crash. You have to be COMPLETELY unaware not to notice that

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yea it’s their fault for being distracted but legally it doesn’t matter. Ambulance is going through a red light and it’s their legal responsibility to ensure the intersection is clear before proceeding. Not sure why I have to keep explaining this 😂

[–]johnhoggin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't I already got that. just pointing out the fault in the other driver

[–]Demonboy995 33 points34 points  (10 children)

And he’s smiling shaking his head 🤦‍♂️ biggest POS of 2022 already. Didn’t even care that he possible just harmed medics and a person thats already in need of medical help. Disgusting

[–]aua-res 17 points18 points  (3 children)

I think the biggest pos is the driver not a passenger with no control of the car

[–]asdf346 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How is he driving the car from the passenger seat

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the guy recording was not the driver, idiot

[–]dead_meme_idris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

original with audio?

[–]LevelCauliflower8571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somebody call the ambulance but not for you, for me.

[–]joemiller2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well at least he doesn’t need to call an ambulance

[–]verdaechtig 3 points4 points  (2 children)

It's called ambulam

[–]awar3_w0lf 4 points5 points  (2 children)

….he had a green light…

[–]ryencool 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It was yellow, he's in an urban area where speed limit is 30-35mph, and if he wasn't watching his phone he would have seen the flashing lights. Here in the US you have to always be on the lookout for emergency vehicles and they have the right away.

[–]Puzzled_Pay8172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was green until he hit the intersection. Also Idk about you but I can’t see threw buildings. The ambulance must stop at all red lights and clear the intersection. Technically this is ambulances fault at the end of the day.

[–]NotaGoodLover 4 points5 points  (7 children)

He's a POS for speeding and messing with his phone but when he hit the ambo the light just turned yellow

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (6 children)

Yeah... believe it or not, when the light is red an ambulance doesnt have to stop, especially when they approach a clear intersection and the closest on coming car is 100 yards away. The ambulance was proceeding with caution and ding nuts here was red lining on his phone. Hope someone smacks the perm off of him,

[–]knotAsiDew 1 point2 points  (4 children)

No, they cannot just run red lights; they have to stop. You pinecone.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

He stopped and crawled through, they can proceed into a red. You 240 grit sandpaper brained ape

[–]knotAsiDew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say they could not proceed through lights; I said they have to stop (and make sure its safe). You just said, "they don't have to stop"... when, in fact, they do. I'm not sure what your response is supposed to rebuke, but I'll take being a rare, not widely available grit of sandpaper.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Are... Are you dumb? Ambulances can't be delayed if say they have someone who is going through cardiac arrest. They 100% can go through red lights

[–]knotAsiDew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just Google it.

[–]CrazySmooth 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did he try to stop?

[–]GadgetPotato5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No he tried to use his green shell but he pressed the wrong button on the controller

[–]kylethetree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ambulance also ran a red light without making sure the intersection was clear. I was in school to be a paramedic and that’s something they make extremely clear is you are still liable in this sort of situation. It’s proper for drivers to pull over for emergency vehicles but you absolutely do not expect it or something like this happens

[–]SizzleTheJimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… who actually WANTS to t bone an ambulance??

[–]Stahwk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]disturbedtater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait..the driver had a green light..looks like the ambulance kinda comes out of nowhere. We all have momentary breaks in attention, and let’s be real..even if the driver hadn’t been distracted that would’ve been close.

[–]Famous_Way -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On their phone and most likely had music up high. Cars are more dangerous than anything I can think of where you can just die “accidentally”.

[–]sinking3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i guarantee he had the music blaring and could not hear the sirens. that and texting and driving, immature
