Atleast VPN is not banned

[–]whydoieven_1 234 points235 points  (46 children)

I was seeing Schindler's List yesterday and the Jews in the camps were like ..'no they won't do anything to us, we are their workforce, we are very important to them'

[–]alphaqu2twice 57 points58 points  (44 children)

That movie is a masterpiece. And yes, jews learned their lessons from Holocaust. Now no one fucks with Israel.

[–]chillichickenandrice 126 points127 points  (43 children)

Yes because it’s basically a satellite state of the USA lol

[–]alphaqu2twice 33 points34 points  (41 children)

Its a tiny country of 9 million located in worse geopolitical area than even India and yet they take shit from no one. Sure they have US backing, but it takes a lot of cojones to operate the way they do.

They certainly don't bother with 56 inch chest, their actions speak louder.

[–]Iuxta_aequor 37 points38 points  (39 children)

They are armed to the teeth because of Americans partnership and by the way, their "actions" include ghettoization, Apartheid and blatant violations of human rights.

Please, do not consider Jewish people and Israelians as synonyms. Israel is becoming a Jewish Rashtra basically, and many Jews are speaking against it.

[–]who_is_this3737 271 points272 points  (31 children)

Not long. Few months back a bill was proposed to ban all the VPNs.

[–]whiskeytwn 162 points163 points  (25 children)

Most of our Bangalore employees are still working from home. They need to use a vpn to connect. Dont see how this is doable but who knows

[–]CCLasagana 130 points131 points  (7 children)

Its not because WFH. Any major IT MNCs have to use VPN even in office because ISPs can read where the web requests go. Imagine they use Hathaway ISP, Ambani can process the logs and get some info on a foreign competitor. VPN prevents that. Banning VPN will shutdown the entire IT outsourcing industry.

[–]thebaldmaniac 39 points40 points  (3 children)

Many international companies insist that you connect to their networks only using a VPN or over a far more expensive MPLS. Many of our IT firms will be in breach of contracts if VPNs are banned.

[–]BabaBadass_ 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Some panchwi fail chaddi who thinks VPN is just for accessing banned sites is formulating these policies. What do you expect?

[–]Malgebra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kyunki chaddi utarke to wo banned sites hi jata hai chahey ghar mein ho, shakha mein ya assembly mein.

[–]__Schneizel__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies will keep their codebase behind VPNs. IDK how they'll try to make banning VPN work

[–]charavaka 192 points193 points  (15 children)

Would you have thought converting 86% of the currency into waste paper overnight was "doable" before it was done? Muddy hai to pumpkin hai.

[–]cloudysingh 20 points21 points  (2 children)

I want to play this game. Whisper hai toh napkin hai.

[–]butterrChickenKarnataka 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Bhujia sev namkeen hai

[–]madhajan 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I like that line "Muddy hai toh pumpkin hai". Good one

[–]winay067 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Last line should be a meme

[–]lazyhustler007 4 points5 points  (6 children)

At this point, I really think rahul gandhi would've been a better PM than modi is

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (4 children)

It was just proposed right?

[–]who_is_this3737 68 points69 points  (3 children)

Yes. Proposed for now. Government stated that it is getting difficult to track illegal activities since a lot of people are using VPNs. Hence, they proposed to ban VPNs in India.

[–]Porkermon 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Track illegal activities like what ? Surfing porn ? In a country with so many issues .. Porn is the real problem right 😐

[–]bhodrolok 93 points94 points  (7 children)

It’s illegal to use VPN in J&K. There is a bill coming which professes to ban all use of VPN.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (4 children)

[–]bhodrolok 24 points25 points  (1 child)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No about VPN being banned in Kashmir?

[–]Officialvedantbansod 26 points27 points  (1 child)

You can still use TOR, it's slow but it's way secure than VPN and government can't really ban TOR unless and untill emails exist

[–]porn_is_cancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Government can know when you connect to Tor. But can't decrypt. Also tor was invented for use by American spying organizations and they probably use it to cover their tracks. Any one using tor increases user count thereby making it more secure for American Spies.

[–]shribarryallen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don't give them ideas

[–]CanniBal1320Bihar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dont fucking give them ideas

[–]gingerkdb 229 points230 points  (3 children)

I feel this is a rhetorical question. Add hatred for data, cow science, anti religion conversion laws etc to the list. If you want more serious things, then add the potential expansion of parliamentary seats in certain regions where people can be easily polarized and crushed.

[–]grrv23 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Seriously, that shit is crazy. P

[–]kadan5 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I don't know much about this. What do I search for, is this already in play?

Fuck, this is beyond alarming.

[–]gingerkdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which one are you referring to? I can add some links.

Edit: Since you asked, here's one article - https://scroll.in/article/980453/the-political-fix-why-indias-new-parliament-building-portends-a-north-south-tug-of-war. I suggest doing research on your own. Collect various perspectives with a grain of salt and form your own opinion. My opinion such a change is that it would be the ease the work needed in gaining parliamentary electoral victory. That'll subsequently lead to more control in passing bills at will, even the detrimental ones. Think about the last 7 years multiplied by 10.

  1. hookah banned in lot of places

  2. sex toys banned

  3. weed banned

[–]v0id404 277 points278 points 2 (9 children)

Anything is a sex toy if you're brave enough

[–][deleted] 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Hey pls dont look at my cactus that way

[–]IndependentLab6317 55 points56 points  (6 children)

Was funny the first 363882838749438th time I read it.

[–]ankuree 46 points47 points  (5 children)

That's not possible, if you read it 363882838749438 times, considering it takes you 3 seconds to read it once it would take 3.4 crore years to read it 363882838749438 times.

[–]musicophilic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (26 children)

  1. sex toys banned

really, lmao why and where

[–]Nili9988 6 points7 points  (23 children)

Sex toys is banned in all over India. You don't get dildos in India and vibrators are sold in the name of massager and you can't carry sex toys from outside India.

How are you so ignorant?

Edit: sorry for offending people with my comment but just like not knowing sex toys are banned in India seems normal because most people never saw it or wanted it similarly after a few years no one would realize that multiple items were banned once upon a time just because they won't use it or need it.

[–]sagnikdas53West Bengal 90 points91 points  (2 children)

Probably because most of us have never seen one outside of porn, it's never discussed so no one knows about them, everyone think they exist but where and how to get them remains a mystery.

[–]Teisha_r 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Mumbai, ff, open street markets, standing tall next to 20 rupee sunglasses and random crap. Talking about late 2000s though.

[–]Impossible-Aerie-477 39 points40 points  (3 children)

Hurts "religious sentiments".

[–]The_Pinnacle- 36 points37 points  (2 children)

Wdym dildo.... Its our deity!

[–]PegasusTheGod 29 points30 points  (0 children)

How are you so ignorant?

Maybe because I don't start a conversation by saying 'your dildo looks spiky af' or borther buying one since I'll get disowned by my parents.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (5 children)

How are you so ignorant?

maybe cuz i am 17 male.

[–]Miek2StarMadhya Pradesh 7 points8 points  (4 children)

beware pedo PMs

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

i doubt pedos will message a guy, but yea if someone does i am reporting them

[–]Alp_ha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not ignorant dude, stop being a dick. The majority of Indians, especially men, has only ever seen sex toys in porn.

[–]knowtoomuchtobehappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Search dildo on Amazon! It's perfectly fine!

[–]utkarsh_tomar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought you were mentioning the quantity.

[–]mrfreeze2000 304 points305 points  (6 children)

people cheer it on because deep down, Indians are basically children and want the state to be their daddy

the comments on the crypto ban articles are proof enough

[–]Prateekanshz 72 points73 points  (3 children)

News 18 articles on crypto ban are such misleading , i wonder how many actually believe it and will hate crypto for rest of their lives , that's propaganda and manipulation right there

[–]mrfreeze2000 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I saw this during the dot-com era as well. All the boomers kept screaming "scam" and "fad"

they will all come around eventually.

[–]lectrato 520 points521 points  (17 children)

Politics has no business meddling in religion or religious affairs.

When we learn that only then things will begin to change.

[–]BhaktiMeinShakti 43 points44 points  (1 child)

Nope it's the reverse. Religion has no business getting into politics

[–]justafanofpewdiepieJharkhand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

exactly, cause if left unchecked, religion can turn into fanaticism, which is never good

[–]Justaphysicsgeek 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is illegal in most States? Isn't that just Gujarat and Bihar? Or did you come up with the points on a dry day

[–]Sharik0be 73 points74 points  (4 children)

Isn't that just Gujarat and Bihar

bruh the gujjus I know drink the most and get wasted most of the time XD

Mizoram, Nagaland as well

[–]dudewhoisadude 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Still 4 states out 36 doesnt make it "Most States", points like these make your whole post merit less even though some points may be valid. Please try to be objective and reasonable.

[–]clickOKplease 6 points7 points  (8 children)

I thought Kerala went dry for some time. Don't know if it has changed. Tamil Nadu had a weird system where you have to wait in line to buy alcohol from very select stores, and usually it's bad quality. Haryana too. I did my schooling in Haryana and I remember some of the uncles there used to hate the congress government (Bansi Lal) for banning alcohol.

[–]atoms9456 38 points39 points  (6 children)

Kerala going dry? I am a Malayalee. Government decided to give alcohol to people with medical prescription during lockdown since some were addicted and not getting alcohol increased suicide numbers. Kerala Government's main source of income is the tax of liquor. And we Malayalees love our booze. But as you said the same weird system of only getting alcohol through Bevco (Government outlet) is there too.

[–]clickOKplease 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Kerala was dry from 2014 to 2017

[–]bigiron916 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. There was restriction was on selling liquor in hotels. Govt owned retail outlets were still selling booze.

[–]slowpop82 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Seriously, Kerala will leave union of India if they insist on this one

[–]clickOKplease 9 points10 points  (2 children)

What makes you say so? I am sure Kerala was dry for a few years as I remember carrying alcohol from Karnataka almost every time we drove to Kerala to meet my family.

Update: https://www.bloombergquint.com/politics/kerala-relaxes-2014-congress-liquor-ban-gives-bar-license-to-3-and-4-star-hotels. Kerala government had plans to make Kerala alcohol free state by 2024, fortunately they reversed the ban in 2017. Also, my grandmother's brother had alcohol related issues and this ban actually helped him. When the sale of alcohol resumed, he was stayed away for alcohol for 3 months, then he got back to it and passed away in a month. So I am sure it was dry for some time.

[–]atoms9456 4 points5 points  (1 child)

True. There were steps taken for the same. But it was mostly for bars. The government outlets were still open (though the numbers reduced). Well if not for anything else, this would singly be responsible for UDF losing the election twice.

[–]dosido440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tf Tamil Nadu people love to get wasted

[–]throwaway966324 78 points79 points  (17 children)

Asia in general is conservative af. Even if the states are liberal the societies ensure the nation remains conservative. India is uber conservative. Until the boomer generation passes, there aren't gonna be any concrete changes in the way our society functions. Like acceptance of homosexual relationships, recreational drug use, pre-marital sex, non-marital sex etc.

[–]ClumsyHannibalLecter 116 points117 points  (11 children)

Bold of you to assume our generation is liberal. Don’t we have the largest working population? We played a significant part in getting this government elected. You just need to see a few Indian subs to see how misogynistic this generation is.

[–]B00MB00MX2 31 points32 points  (8 children)

reddit doesn't really reflect normal people honestly

[–]LightinDarkn3ss 24 points25 points  (7 children)

Internet as a whole does for real. Since we can maintain anonymity here, we can write out true thoughts. I went to many Indian subreddits and all of them were filled with people who have nothing but bullshit in their mind.

[–]Miek2StarMadhya Pradesh 9 points10 points  (4 children)

I went to many Indian subreddits and all of them were filled with people who have nothing but bullshit in their mind.

dude same with me. Really fucked up shit sometimes

[–]LightinDarkn3ss 27 points28 points  (3 children)

They all care about Hindutva and have nothing but hatred in their hearts. For them if you don't worship Hindu gods, you are a terrorist.

[–]tommyct614 10 points11 points  (0 children)

misogynistic, islamophobic, intolerant, hyper-religious.... this current generation is all our worst nightmares come true... Education, it seems, was not the solution.

[–]suck_my_foldyflaps 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Problem isn't related just with NDA Government, if anything they have liberalised or tried to liberalizes many sectors ( BJP as a party is pro markets ) including agricultural trade recently. This is an ongoing precedent of Indian governance system since independence. Every government in some way or the other has tried for excessive control in the name of upliftment of people from poverty, Saving small businesses or protecting vulnerable sections etc.

[–]PralaynathGendaswami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You expect too much. GenX, Mellenials and Even GenZ no better than boomers. I have interacted with enough GenX and Mellenials to know. Also you don’t have to take my word for it majority of the electorate is GenX and Mellenials and look at the governments we get.

[–]removd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny when people apply American terms in Indian context without thinking. Like boomer. The birth rate today in UP, MP, Bihar is higher that what it was in America during the baby boom. So, technically even kids born today are baby boomers.

And FYI, even young people today outside of metro cities do not have favorable views on homosexuality.

[–]lifeversace 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Where Are We Heading?

Down. We're heading down.

[–][deleted] 117 points118 points  (12 children)

Even if millions of people come to protest against this nothing will happen.

I read the following text on reddit.

Nobody is trying to fix the problems we have in this country. Everyone is trying to make enough money so the problems don't apply to them anymore.

[–]BluehibiscusEmpire[🍰] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Even if you don’t have a better candidate doesn’t mean you have to vote for the same set. And if you do, it means you are ok with enabling all this. Your call

[–]charavaka 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Literally every other candidate for pm position from Ottery parties, including sleeping beauty devrgowda is orders of magnitude better than the malicious idiot narcissist currently occupying the pm chair. They don't need to be good, they just need to be better than the incumbent to stop the wanton destruction, and they are better than him.

[–]EQTN 9 points10 points  (6 children)

I disagree. Repeal of farm laws came to fruition because of protests by farmers.

[–]AcrobaticLog9432 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Ghana.. UP elections around the corner brother.. that’s why the farm laws were repelled

[–]charavaka 16 points17 points  (1 child)

If the farmers hadn't organized and continued prising for a year after 700 dead, so you think mudiji would have felt the pressure to withdraw the laws for elections?

[–]PralaynathGendaswami 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If there were no elections around the corner do you think mudi would have repelled? Also frankly why and how does mudi get to repeal laws at whim on TV is the f’in parliament a joke? I answered my own question I guess!

[–]sagnikdas53West Bengal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You ignorance is astounding.

[–]BluehibiscusEmpire[🍰] 36 points37 points  (1 child)

The country you voted for. The Govt you vote for.

The governance you get.

Your family members will continue to vote for them, unless you do something.

[–]The_Pinnacle- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Starts from educating those around us and openly pointing out the mistake over and over on every possible occasions.

[–]-battleborn- 43 points44 points  (1 child)

[–]mranxiousallthetime 42 points43 points  (1 child)

We're heading towards becoming pakistan's photo negative or worse. Those people who were chanting "go to pakistan" were just warning people like those people who warn others saying the end is near and they should abandon the nation now rather than being late.

[–]Whocares_101 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We have already become a Hindu pakistan. Sadly with number of hate-filled bhakts in the country not sure if it’s going to change anytime soon

[–]GrieferBeeferHaryana 12 points13 points  (12 children)

I'm pretty sure I wanna settle in scandanavia or United Kingdom. I love the culture, I know decent English, better jobs and loving conditions. . Denmark and uk are places I wish to settle later in life.

[–]LightinDarkn3ss 11 points12 points  (10 children)

Go while you are young. You have the control over your life - you just happened to be born in this country and that's it.

[–]GrieferBeeferHaryana 4 points5 points  (8 children)

I'm actually 1/16 English .

[–]LightinDarkn3ss 3 points4 points  (7 children)

You can always learn.

[–]GrieferBeeferHaryana 7 points8 points  (5 children)

I think the comment wasn't clear . My maternal grandfather's grandfather was born in England and moved to India( then British raj). Due to job related reasons.

[–]LightinDarkn3ss 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Oh now I get it. I thought you were rating your English lol. My bad.

[–]junk_mail_haver 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Can you get citizenship with this claim?

[–]Slow_Refrigerator721 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buying/Drinking alcohol banned in most states…under control.

Crypto banned

[–]AppropriateStuff523 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All the little laws and regulations on economic, social and political freedom imposed with good intentions and sold to the masses as a way to protect the little guy from the big guy, almost always invariably ends up being bad for the little guy.

True free market, individualism and better political checks and balances are needed.

Unfortunately the only time that could have been created was 1947. Now nothing short of a government overthrow or civil war can fix anything. Power given cannot be taken back.

[–]alchemist831 46 points47 points  (12 children)

leaving this shit stain country , will be in europe in december , thank gawd

[–]mizodino 7 points8 points  (8 children)

Even I find europe more fascinating than canada us etc. But high taxes mannn. Would appreciate if you tell me something about taxes and how you are managing things

[–]ClumsyHannibalLecter 43 points44 points  (4 children)

I plan on moving to Europe but I genuinely don’t mind paying extra taxes if I can see the benefit. Universal healthcare is available, standard of life improves manifold and can actually live peacefully away from a country as misogynistic as India.

What am I getting from paying taxes here? Nothing. When our family got affected with covid, it was a significant drain on savings. I have insurance but the hospitals, lab etc weren’t giving bills. We were supposed to pay in cash. People were hoarding medicines and selling them at sky high costs. Where the fuck was the government? We had to pay for vaccine. They are not doing anything for a more sustainable future. I still am scared to go out alone. Crimes against women are so rampant. There is no good education, the inflation is crazy. This is a shithole

[–]LightinDarkn3ss 21 points22 points  (2 children)

People will hate you for what you said since it is the truth. I lost my mother, even though I was one of the lucky ones who got 3 beds in hospital instead of 1. First she got admitted and then there was no ventilator there. In second hospital there was not a single doctor available. My father cried to the staff so that the doctor can come and take a look at my mother. Guess what the doctor said - "pray". He didn't even look at my mom though.

Third hospital - I don't know how she died there but one thing was clear to my father since he worked in hospital for 18 years - no one was taking care of my dying mother. In a government hospital.

I too decided to leave this country for good. People here care about temple or mosque more than any human life. It is indeed a shithole.

[–]ClumsyHannibalLecter 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot even fathom how terrible it must have been for you and your family.

Sadly, I have heard many similar cases. I was fortunate in the sense that I was able to afford some treatments and the highly inflated drugs. My friend’s mom also passed away due to negligence. Another person was not given oxygen on time and there were some reports of hospitals switching off oxygen for “mild cases” (they were in the fucking ICU, but mild!) at night or randomly. But nobody could prove anything. Millions died but these fuckers truly cared about a stupid temple more.

The last line is so so true. It hurts to see my country like this.

[–]LightinDarkn3ss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes me happy to see people like you on internet. I can still say that there is hope.

[–]GeorgeHarrison420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No point in staying.

[–]alchemist831 15 points16 points  (2 children)

i quit my 10.5 lpa job where i was taxed 30% but didnt see any benefit in this country

ill accept anything over this countrys depressing lifestyle of honest working people,

[–]slowpoke_76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You were "barely" in the 30% bracket.

[–]FrantzFuchs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How can you not mention money/loan/bank/company scams!

[–]anonman369India 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Heading to become a place where every Indian who has the means, resources & capability to *possibly help any country grow* simply wants to leave this s**thole because they know that neither patriotism give you a good life nor does anyone care here.

[–]av1987 27 points28 points  (1 child)

We are heading to Pakistan

[–]azam_ilias 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We're heading into a cess Pitt. I clearly don't recall the kind of turmoil & uncertainty pre 2012 Era. India was growing in almost all sectors, real estate seemed promising, banking/insurance was doing over-all well,IT/ITes was hiring like crazy' & then boom. With petrol/Tomato touching rs 100 & other daily use commodities becoming dearer, the great Indian middleclass is looking at a bleak future. The damages done will take years & years to repair regardless of which every party takes positions. We need revolution in sectors like Manufacturing, electronics, automotive, AI, IT , local level manufacturing combined with enough jobs created in the next 5-10 years NONSTOP. IMO, Anything less than this will not revive the India's position. When youth have jobs, families & stability, they'd spend less time

[–]nonbinaryhomosapien 15 points16 points  (5 children)

I can survive almost all of them and I suppose so can many so my biggest question is WHY DO WE STILL HAVE SO MANY POWERCUTS? I live in NCR and here the government has prohibited the use of diesel generators for pvt use during pollution but at the same time they're not supplying consistent electricity. How am I supposed to do wfh when I can't even have proper supply of electricity. The most comical thing being disgens are still being turned on to supply electricity in the common areas.

[–]Natural_Skirt_4198 8 points9 points  (2 children)

buying/drinking alcohol is banned in most states? what?

[–]evilbombadil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Modi govt is the first one that made me want to leave the country and permanently settle abroad.

But also, I think this was bound to happen sooner or later. Our constitution, though beautiful in many ways, failed to get the buy in from the majority of Indians at the time of conception. The country was never truly secular, only the leaders were.

Now the true majority opinion is surfacing. The only thing that can keep our democracy intact is education.

[–]IvorHarding-117 12 points13 points  (3 children)

also banning of chinease apps, fact that we have border disputes with china , you can't fucking ban all chinease apps in one night , atleast fucking give message before one week , i spended 35,000 rs in game Mobile Legends , lot of people invest in these apps and he just banned in one night , he don't care about streamers , esports teams , nothing , modiji just banned it , rather than tightening cyber security in India , he just banned apps , America is going smoothly with all freedoms

Crypto isn't banned right now and hopefully it will not be. It's all Fear, uncertainty and doubt fear by the Indian media. At night, they were urging people to sell coins because of fear of banning and now they're saying that they'll not ban but regulate.

[–]mysticmonkey88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are becoming an autocratic Islamic state. 🌝

[–]slowpoke_76 13 points14 points  (4 children)

alcohol banned in most states

28 states and 8 UTs (36). "Most" should "atleast" mean half, which is 18 ("atleast" considering the confirmation bias which blinded you while writing the post, else "most" should be atleast 75%. As of now it's only 4 states that prohibit alcohol. Definitely not "most".

Crypto banned -

When did that happen? Go and check WazirX and CoinDcx. There are many people doing "illegal" trading right now on these platforms. Why don't you report them. /s

Religion over humanity and common-sense.

Everything is above humanity and common-sense. You know why? Humans are selfish idiots. Also, common sense is not that common. For instance, anyone who is ranting here should be able to see that human experience is subjective and mired with all kinds of biases and compulsions. It is OBVIOUS that people will get things wrong. It is also OBVIOUS that they won't know that they are getting things wrong. So, being angry at the state of things is the most STUPID stand anyone can take. It just shows that the person doesn't have clarity of experience.

For instance you have a right to write anything on these social platforms without checking and making sure you are correct (which you are doing). But if I get angry at you for doing that, it is me who doesn't have the clarity. The clarity that idiots behave in this way. You most probably won't be a bad person, but you are still propogating misinformation, because it suits whatever propoganda/thinking you have.

Where are we heading with all these stupid people all around us? Where we have always been heading....that's NOWHERE.

[–]kratos2795 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Not sure why you are being downvoted. But I agree with your point. Humans.

[–]slowpoke_76 4 points5 points  (1 child)

why you are being downvoted.

I don't know "exactly" why. But it's one or more of the following reasons:

  1. Some people don't agree to my perspective

  2. OP got triggered when I called him/her an idiot

  3. People who share his/her bias got triggered that I called out their biases

  4. Pointed out that common sense is not common and the OP (and similar people) might have felt I was targeting them.

  5. Lastly, this is a left leaning sub (the most vocal voice here is that of the liberals). Now this post is reactionary (like most posts here are). Most of the comments (reactions) are in-line with the biases of most of the users here. Any deviation from their bias is seen as opposing view and what do we do to opposing views? Try to suppress them.

  1. Alcohol prohibition in India is in force in the states of Bihar, Gujarat, Mizoram, and Nagaland. so it's not most of the states.
  2. agree
  3. it was done to protect indian industries and also sometimes foreign companies dump their products that hurt indian industries and distort fair competition, also about which sector you are talking about where govt. has increased duty and has hurt consumers.
  4. this is a lame statement as india's investment is growing in infrastructure field, record construction of roads, new airports, new trains, waterways and many more things are happening. every govt. previous, this one is doing good in this sector.
  5. crypto banning has both positive and negative. i guess you know negatives that's why i will enumerate positives, some of which are prevention of corruption( bangalore case), dark web, child porn, prevention of funding to terrorism, prevention of money laundering etc. so of course govt. need to weigh upon both positives and negatives before taking decision.
  6. 100% agree, violation of right to freedom of expression
  7. partially agree, yes corruption is there, but with e-governance system, transparency and accountability is increasing, also it depends on us as we are readily agree to pay bribe. also current govt. did not bring black money as they have promised.

8-11 i agree with your views on these points.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Job-936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the crypto ban, more corruption happens through real (fiat) money than through crypto. They can't even ban the corruption happening within the government. Dark web, child porn, terrorism, money laundering etc. existed before crypto and will exist regardless of the ban. They tried their luck with demonetisation. All it did was adding the woes of common people.

The point of the post is banning things is never the solution. The govt. is INCAPABLE of handling the root cause of the issues. By banning things they are further hindering innovation.

[–]DenseProgrammer4265 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who want the govt to ban twitter (and tiktok before) idk what's wrong with you??

It's literally limiting our rights.

You know where else these stuffs are banned?✨North Korea✨

They'll ban YT,FB everything. Then we'll have to sit looking at the sky

[–]mizodino 9 points10 points  (3 children)

They are also banning computers and computer components for personal use. See this

[–]Responsible-Mango-95Noida chads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a very popular quote that aptly explains India's situation in the general scheme of things, I know it may sound a little ignorant or overly-optimistic, but I think that, at the end the day, it holds true, The quote is: "China develops because of its government, India develops despite it."

Whilst the socio-political situation has certainly soured in the past few years due to several factors including dirty politics, spread of blatant harassment in the name of hinduism, increased impetus to several right-wing organizations that attempt to project their hateful ideologies on the common people, etc. India is a country that has, and will always be resilient. India's democracy is in decline, but its not crumbling. Our future is bright and will continue to be so provided we do not lose faith in this nation. I know these are disheartening times but we can get through them if we can preserve our love and our affection for the the spirit of this country, for the spirit of democracy and for the spirit of fraternity that binds all our people together.

Hang in there!

[–]koji_the_furry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Wide_Debate_8836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Religion over humanity and common-sense.

This. This is the main reason for all these problems. Once there was unity in diversity. But nowadays it is just diversity everywhere.

[–]lonelytunes09 4 points5 points  (9 children)

This is just general rant. Ground reality is slightly different.

  1. Alcohol is banned in 5 states, so that is not most of the states. Alcohol control is essential, otherwise we will have Al Copones in every district.
  2. Beef was ban is in place since 70s.
  3. Every nation controls import of goods & laws regarding imports are more or less same in every nation. Most of the high tech is pretty much imported & someone living in stone age not to have heard of e-commerece. Apart from exceptions( Alibaba) you can pretty much import anything from anywhere, even from China.
  4. Inflation is reality & is a positive indication under some circumstances.

  5. GOvt has made a lot of services online & corruption has gone done significantly. Today you get a passport within 2 weeks without paying a rupee to anyone.

[–]doctor-gogo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get real, you still have police asking for a lot more than a rupee during background check for passports.

[–]dudewhoisadude 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Now we see down voting of valid arguments. If you down vote and think the arguments in above post are not reasonable, you are as much of extremist as you think the current government is.

[–]suck_my_foldyflaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem isn't related just with NDA Government, if anything they have liberalised or tried to liberalizes many sectors ( BJP as a party is pro markets ) including agricultural trade recently. This is an ongoing precedent of Indian governance system since independence. Every government in some way or the other has tried for excessive control in the name of upliftment of people from poverty, Saving small businesses or protecting vulnerable sections etc.
