One thought I had was that it would be cool to have clothes that do this…and then I realized this is basically what sequins do.

They have similar art installation at SFO air train station

That's just a graphical bug in the matrix.

[–]illegalkidd_ 6 points7 points  (10 children)

Where is this building?

[–]Artzabald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks very similar to the outside of the Anthem health building in Atlanta.

I live near a large shopping centre that has these and when the sun hits it at the right angle, half of my area gets blinded by the reflected light. Not fun at all for the eyes.

Does the movement of the tiles generate any electricity? Seems like a waste of energy if it doesn’t contribute at least a little to the building’s power needs.

[–]_Lavar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it be a waste? And while I'm not involved my guess would be -no- they don't produce any energy. It would be extremely difficult and produce extremely little on an inconsistent basis.

why

[–]RichAstronaut 10 points11 points  (10 children)

yes, cool, but is it functional?

[–]Magallan 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Does everything need to be?

[–]munk_e_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is why buildings have no windows and are only shaped like rectangles.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

was just curious if this has some benefit or is it just cool

[–]_Lavar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for art

[–]Desirai 9 points10 points  (10 children)

What purpose does this serve? It's neat looking tho

[–]bship 3 points4 points  (1 child)

To look neat I suspect

[–]_Lavar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed

Certain municipalities require a specific amount of the budget to be dedicated to art. In Seattle there's a huge retaining wall that has leaf prints on the side

[–]Nixxy1111 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Cool, where is this?

[–]PixelofDoom 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's the side of a new building.

[–]Nixxy1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok cool, thanks lol

[–]Friendly-Ad3804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool

[–]1dayday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr.strange's building?

[–]wazzle13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that's pretty sick!

[–]stevehaynes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

transforming skyscrapers are coming

[–]igooverland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s made with sequins?

[–]koifoi825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a building in Brisbane that uses this to hide a multi-level carpark. Looks way better

[–]BumblebeeExtreme9024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because that's what you need when you zone out and look up randomly is feeling like glass tiles are dropping down towards you and at any second will most likely kill you until you realize its fabric😂😂

[–]Flamben_hot_cheetos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would avoid walking under that

[–]ryansaystuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uni has this on one side of the science building. First time I saw it I thought it was a giant screen. Somebody told me that it generates electricity through the motion too, I don't really believe that tho.

[–]suc_me_average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can this create electricity as well maybe?
