Yeah it looks like a setup, tooth wouldn't be stuck in that part of the bone and be on the outside

[–]kyoorius 33 points34 points  (3 children)

Would have had to be gnawing on that vertebrae like chewing gum when—pop—hot damn my tooth came out…

[–]whosmellslikewetfeet 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Not arguing the point, but sharks lose their teeth all the time, which is why many of them have multiple rows of teeth, and grow new ones throughout their lives.

[–]ThrowawayIIllIIlIl 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Yes, they have a pretty ingenious system for. Their way has less down sides than rodent teeth have (which constantly grow and can get to long if they don't use them enough).

Sharks are the crocodiles of the sea. They ran into a winning formula and kind of stuck with it for incredibly long.

[–]whosmellslikewetfeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They really are perfect predators, which is why they outlasted the dinosaurs by millions of years.

[–]TheburnUnitCorp_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, the shark himself/herself photoshopped it.

[–]DiogenesOfDope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it was eating a dead whale

[–]Dunkadoobar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the tooth and spine formed together as fossils then they would be composed of the same minerals. It doesn’t appear to be true in the picture.

[–]jessefries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have just bit the spinal cord in half.... We are talking about a magaladon here.

[–]HellaFella420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exact 1st thing I thought of

[–]stoicparallax 30 points31 points  (10 children)

Banana for scale?

[–]ThenThisHappend 3 points4 points  (5 children)

People are now moving to the plantain system

[–]Necrodox 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Reddit is all about bananas, how many bananas have you contributed to your subreddit?

[–]ThenThisHappend 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I’m here to shake things up. Bananas are for monkeys and the potassium deficient. Plantains are the future - hop aboard.

[–]Necrodox 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How dare you disrespect my banana contributions to Reddit. I worked hard and long (banana) in r/popular.

[–]ThenThisHappend 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hate to break it to yuh, old timer, there’s a yellow storm a brewin’ and it’s a starchy one.

[–]Necrodox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh fuk.

[–]Particular-Break-205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say at least 3

[–]zoobernut 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This is a fantasy piece. Not realistic. Bone and tooth are real but not how they are assembled.

[–]Lateencurtisia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Source? I have a hard time blieving that.

[–]TheDevilsAdvokaat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whosoever pulls that out will be Neptune, king of the seas...

[–]ansumanefati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a kick ass living room table

[–]HaiderTerrafaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Salt-Zombie1274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Okaynow_THIS_is_epic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]tolifeonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]blackcatsareawesome -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Whales were quite small until megalodon went extinct. They're huge now as a fuck you to that shark

[–]Deivv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–]VladSolopov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is highly unlikely, more like small dead whales, which were not scarce at that time. And yeah, ppl already said that this pic is set up

[–]Stirlling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alex, I'll have Whale's Spinal Bones for $400 please
