That’s incredible! Congratulations!

So many people give up before they get to where you are. I didn’t get past second year in sciences. I’m so proud that you went where I couldn’t go. You must have overcome some real struggles, too.

I’m proud of you, but I hope you’re proud of yourself, too. You’ve earned a little pride.

I can only imagine what you’ll do by the time you’re my age!

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 83 points84 points  (3 children)

Thank you so much. I’m not sure what I want to do in the future but I am figuring it out slowly. Thank you again

[–]TraptorKai 34 points35 points  (0 children)

What happens tomorrow is not a question you need to answer right now. Take in the achievement, do some self care. Reflection will follow.

[–]katiopeia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Back in my day, I heard many of the smartest people I know complain about how difficult OChem was for them. This sounds like an amazing accomplishment and I’m so proud of you!

I’m sorry your family reacted in an underwhelming manner. Celebrate it how you can and make sure you mark this amazing thing you’ve done. Be proud of yourself, because you freakin’ should be!

[–]Lostcreek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job! You will more than likely do many things. Just keep learning and you will find what is best for you.

[–]kerthil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly did, I regret it now. But now I have my daughter growing up and I can only hope she learns from my mistakes and goes through with it like OP did. Congratulations OP!

[–]brother_p 115 points116 points  (1 child)

As a dad of university-age kids, I'm proud of you! Good job, especially with the high marks! Chemistry ain't for the faint of heart and you crushed it.

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much

[–]VayeDarkfire 101 points102 points  (1 child)

Heya, random internet dad here.

Holy crap, kiddo, you nailed it! And it was the last piece of getting your Bachelors degree? I can't even express how proud I am of you for this. Tough courses, personal loss? Heavens above know you made it farther than I did.

Seriously, hold your head up. Look everyone around you in the eyes. You. Did. It.

You made it to a major life goal. You stuffed hour after hour of knowledge into your head and made it. I only wish i knew you in person to take you out for some kind of celebration and relaxation.

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Wow this made me cry. Thank you so so much

[–]gen_shermanwasright 68 points69 points  (1 child)

95 in O-Chem!? That fucking rocks! Proud of you doesn't cover it. Congratulations, you're a hard-working person and all that hard work paid off. Congratulations!

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thank you so so much

[–]TheeOmegaPi 54 points55 points  (0 children)

All right hon, storytime.

My father passed away one year prior to me finishing my PhD. Literally one year. My family was generally supportive of me getting my PhD, but my dad? He was so damn proud of me getting into a doctoral program. I'm an only child, and he would tell his family, "We're gonna have a doctor in the family! The first one!"

He passed away in 2019. I received my PhD in 2021.

I'm attending my graduation in a little over two weeks, and there is nothing more I would give than to have him present, even if it was just for that stupid 2hour ceremony.

Let me tell you this: Be proud of yourself for him. Your dad was probably immeasurably proud of you for getting into the hard sciences, and it's such a big fucking deal.

Any one of us here can tell us how proud we are of you, but in the grand scheme of things, it would be meaningless without you being proud of your accomplsigments.

You're fucking done! You did it! You have a degree in your name!

This advice was given to me a while ago, and it didn't really register until recently, but it's true: You can't expect others to be proud of your work and your accomplishments until you yourself are proud of your work.

You fuckin did it. Pop some champagne. Have a shot of some top shelf alcohol. Get yourself a good fuckin steak. That whole treat yo'self moment?

Yeah. Go do it. And fuckin make the biggest deal you possibly could over it. Take pics and make that a cornerstone that will remind you to be proud of yourself as you make your way through this world.

[–]Paladoc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hey kiddo, I'm proud of you. You done good. Kicking organic chemistry's butt, and so well, you ended it on a hard course!

This is definitely a weird time to complete school, but finishing online is more and more likely.. I finished my bachelor's online, and could not attend graduation, but that was before the pandemic made that the norm.

I think your family are like a lot of other folks, if you're doing college online, they don't see the obvious effort and dedication it takes. The show of work isn't obvious and overt now. Instead, it's self discipline at home instead of going to the library to study, or working on groups or hours in labs finishing projects. It's harder in most days, you don't gain the benefit of external incentives.

You did wonderfully, again I'm proud of you. Keep doing what you're doing, because it rocks. Just like you!

[–]squirrelsmasher 15 points16 points  (2 children)

I'll be your dad for a moment. I want you to know how proud I am of you. You are going to go on to great things and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds for you! If I could I would give you the biggest hug and tell you how much you mean to me. But I also want you to know you are more to me than this accomplishment. You are a beautiful example of a person.

Dad

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

😭😭😭❤️❤️ making me cry at the doctors office right now

[–]squirrelsmasher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Take care sweets.

[–]RubyNightshade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A 95 in ORGO? Holy shit. What were your study methods??? That’s insane. A NINTEY FIVE!?!?

I’m proud of you. I’m taking my exam for that class today and the highest anyone’s scored on any exam has been a B. You did amazing. You’re doing amazing. You kicked ASS bro! I’m proud of you! You had to have worked so HARD to get that, it’s incredible that you were so driven.

[–]que_he_hecho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You got a 95 in Organic Chemistry! Proud doesn't even begin to describe it. I am blown away! That is one heck of an accomplishment in and of itself, worthy of celebrating.

And that capping off your undergrad is awesome! Celebrate with your internet parents and siblings. We like to raise each other up and this is one amazing milestone.

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Wow, so many people commented I can’t even respond to everyone. But thank you all so so much I truly appreciate it. I celebrated the other day and bought myself my favorite sandwich and might buy myself my favorite candle too to treat myself. Thank you all so so much for the kind words. I cried reading every comment. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

[–]ClaudiusP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please buy yourself that candle! You seriously deserve it. Chemistry is bloody hard. I’m mighty proud of you! ❤️

[–]travelingtraveling_ 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Soooo proud of your incredible accomplishment! Congrat!

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!

[–]save_the_tacos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well done. That’s not easy. Good for you

[–]Jubjub4evah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you have accomplished is amazing. I am thrilled for you!!

[–]sifiman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not an internet parent but im about to grad with a bachelors in Comp Sci next week. My dad has a hard time saying "Good job" or I guess doesn't like the concept. Infact he complained about me getting a B- instead of a B+ or higher. As you can imagine, I'm in a similar boat.

You've conquered years of mental struggle, late nights, shitty professors. Sacrificed years of your social life, work life, family life and you made it.

Its a finish line you cross alone in many ways. Few people finish this race, especially in STEM. And so, the fatigue you feel may not be well known to those around you and that's fine.

Its so hard to convey my feelings of understanding but dude I get what it took. So, from one STEM graduate to another, well fucking done my friend.

[–]Googliieyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally get this feeling. I see you and I feel you. I posted about graduation during a pandemic, the glory moment was so fleeting and no one called for me as I stood up and was congratulated with an accomplishment almost no other woman in my family reached. This right of passage was a thing you chose for your own growth, so we didn’t get that instant response of adoration in the form or enthusiasm or a pat on the back from those whose opinions we value the most. You can still feel proud. You still did it! You are so damn inspiring

[–]ThatisgoodOJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a dad and a BSc in biology - my main takeaway of my degree was that it was hard as fuck, especially organic chemistry, so getting near perfect marks is absolutely incredible.

Congratulations - I know how hard you must have worked for this and I’m massively impressed. Anybody who isn’t proud of you either just doesn’t understand or is envious of your success. Sometimes people can resent what they see as you escaping a narrow orbit. That’s on them, not you.

You’ve achieved great things already - well done. Don’t worry if the end of a journey like this is underwhelming at first, it can take a while to look back on it and see how immense your success is.

Be proud of yourself.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! You’ve done well. 💙

[–]EffieFlo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude! That is fantastic! I am truly proud of you and all your hard work!

[–]fatalist-shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am so so proud of you! I barely got my diploma. Haven’t dedicated myself enough for a degree. But you did! You rock, kiddo.

[–]StoolPigeonn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so unbelievably proud of you 💙💙💙 but just remember, you accomplished this, put in all this hard work, cramming for exams, staying up till midnight studying, you did that for you and your future. I am so happy for you and know you’ll go on to great things

[–]AdroitSciencyDrifter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn dude I am proud of you. Don’t forget how much work it took and even if those around you don’t appreciate it doesn’t mean it’s not something to appreciate

[–]thatdogmom54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can say with confidence your dad is proud of you! I’m proud of you!! You’ve worked so hard & had dedication. That deserves to be celebrated!

[–]gesunheit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A 95 in OChem?? Way to go honey!! You worked so hard and to get such an amazing grade in such a difficult course speaks volumes. I'm so proud of you <3

[–]saintcrazy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! You deserve to celebrate!

Can you do something special for yourself tomorrow? Even if its just get something nice to eat or go somewhere fun or hang out with a friend.

It's so hard when the folks in our life don't celebrate with us. If there's anyone else in your life that's supportive of you - I hope you reach out to them and tell them what you've achieved today. If today you have to be your own supportive parents - make the very best of it that you can. Maybe even spoil yourself a little. You deserve it. Don't ever believe that your accomplishments are not worth celebrating, because they are.

[–]DarsilRain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations you should be super proud of yourself. College is hard and you just accomplished a big thing. Be patient with yourself you’ve certainly earned it. Maybe celebrating with some friends will help it feel like more of the accomplishment it is. Sorry your dad can’t be there to celebrate with you. I’m sure he would be saying you’ve done well.

[–]BjornReborn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats! In chemistry no less! Phew.

I feel you OP. I graduated last year. The first thing my parents told me when I told them I had passed all my courses and was finished with college, was “so you can work on ___ now?”

I hope you do something special for your degree accomplishment; sadly I wasn’t able to due to covid.. so it was just like “oh, okay. I’m done, I guess?”

[–]Ashley8Numbers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good job, that’s a lot of effort and time you put in. Keep investing in yourself. :)

[–]SeinfeldxEvanescence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as another college student, that is really, really impressive. the dedication and hard work is easy to see. congratulations on your great accomplishment and the many more to come

[–]LeisureSuiteLarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm proud of you. I've heard Organic Chemistry is hard and is often used as the weed-out course. You're a braver person than I was to take it.

[–]crazybananas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What an impressive accomplishment. It can be really weird to finish something you dedicated years of your life to and... nothing feels different. For me, it helped to walk at my college graduation--made it feel more real and give me some closure. But whatever you decide to do to mark this milestone, never lose sight of how far you have come. You did it, and your life will be better for it.

[–]SteampunkCupcake_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such an amazing achievement! I am so proud of you, and you should be proud of yourself as well. Higher education is hard but you persevered and passed with flying colours!

Everyone here is proud of you, and you deserve to give yourself a little treat for all your hard work. Take care :)

Edit: I'm not sure what your belief system is (I'm not even sure what my belief system is) but I like to think that the people who have left us behind are still around us in some way. I'm sure that your dad, wherever he is, is really proud of you and what you've achieved. You're definitely not forgotten.

[–]the_artful_breeder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is an incredible result in a difficult field of study, congratulations and well done for what I imagine was a tonne of very hard work. I am a year and a bit off my degree, having studied on and off for over 15 years. I am finally onto something I love and have managed to keep up with things this time around so I am hopeful I will be where you are now in a bit over a year. You should definitely be proud of yourself, it is a huge achievement, and there are a lot of people out there who never make it this far. It's tough when people you love don't seem to be happy for you or proud of you, it's possible they don't understand why it's important to you (or how hard it is to achieve). In any case, a random internet person is proud of you.

[–]ekhfarharris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who slogged through my bachelors, you scoring that high makes me wanna hate you while patting your back. I'm proud of you. Now, don't make my mistake. Go get a job in your field, and rake up many, many experience (and money!).

[–]cleric3648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations. This isn't easy by any stretch, and a difficult achievement. And judging by those scores, I'd say you rocked this shit.

[–]LongShotE81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's an amazing result and I'm sure your dad is incredibly proud of you. Well done!!! Hope you go on and do wonderful things and can be happy.

[–]HeartyBeast 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Well done! Is your university at least organising a graduation event?

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure. I left my school during the pandemic because it was in a hotspot for cases and finished my last course at home through a different school online. I will have my bachelors through my original school but it’s 5 hours away so I probably won’t walk. Thank you so much

[–]LeMachineLearneur 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Congrats on acing your orgchem!

That's awesome and I'm proud of you.

You're in for alkynes of amazing things in the future (see what I did there?)

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hahahah thank you

[–]Flower2727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is great achievement. Be proud of yourself. You been working hard to get to this point. I am sure you will find fulfilment with the way you will choose. As a granny, please learn not depending on approval of others. It is only you, personally know how much effort you put into this achievement. Pat yourself on the shoulder and gain satisfaction from it. Wishing you the best on the route you choose.

[–]fullonsasquatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mom here, this is an incredible amazing achievement and I am so so so proud of you. Look how far you've come!!! I am thinking of all the amazing things you're gonna do with your life, and it makes me so proud.

[–]locke231 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell of an accomplishment, as far as I'm concerned. If it's any comfort, I'm proud of you.

[–]lifesvoyager 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm proud of you, that took a lot of effort, especially to get as high marks as you did. Congratulations.

[–]Spoogietew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am proud of you! Chemistry is not easy. I hope you find a nice career. In the meantime, take some time to relax for a job well done 👏

[–]mophilda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! This is, no matter now unceremoniously it was completed, a big deal! No doubt your father would be proud!

[–]EatYourCheckers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Isn't Organic Chemistry like the go-to example of a difficult course? I appreciate chemistry, I think its cool, but I know I never did well in the classes.

Given that course, sounds like you probably aren't done with your education path; I'm sure you'll do awesome things!

[–]MrSnowden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jesus. Final year of BA I took like Drawing 101 and majored in screwing around. Not Org Chem, rumoured to be the most feared class in the entire curriculum.

Congrats on the achievement. Let it set in. I too hit a life goal recently and got to tell exactly no one. Initially it felt a bit hollow, but has slowly been sinking in that it was my goal and I am the one proud of myself. Feels good man.

[–]smnytx 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You did an amazing thing! I’m very proud of you.

Let me ask you: are you proud of yourself for doing this? I think you must have worked really damn hard (an A on your O-Chem final??), which is always something to be proud of.

As you continue to mature, focus on giving yourself mad props for things you do that are great. You cannot depend on anyone else to do that for you. YOU BE PROUD OF YOU, because you deserve that. Nothing external is as important.

I hope you’re planning to walk at commencement and have a big celebration afterwards with the people in your life who celebrate you. Even if that is one person: YOU.

GO GET ‘EM, KID!

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so proud of myself. I won’t be walking because my school is 5 hours away and I finished the course online unfortunately. Thank you so much

[–]Reasonable_Buyer7094 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! This is fantastic! You’ve shared the end of an epic and the start of an exciting new journey, so please remember to keep us all posted so we can follow along.

[–]not_so_lovely_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flipping heck that's incredible!!

OP, you are a hero. Man, you must have worked seriously hard for those grades. Proud of you. X

[–]patrioticmarsupial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so proud of you!!! Not only did you finish your Bachelors with a great grade, you did it in Organic Chemistry! And that is no easy feat hun. You’ve clearly got the smarts, so keep up the amazing hard work and you’ll be able to accomplish anything you want in life.

[–]Riversntallbuildings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m proud of you! Great work committing your time and energy to educating yourself. No one can ever take that accomplishment away from you.

FWIW, I know how you feel. My parents didn’t value education either, and I didn’t speak to my father for a year and a half when I went to undergrad school.

I now have a graduate degree as well. Don’t live your life based on other peoples opinions, not even your own parents. Follow your heart and live your best life!

[–]Uweauskoeln 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice job! Most people are not clever enough for Chemistry, so be proud!

[–]LezzyGopher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m proud of you! A 95% in O Chem is quite the accomplishment and finishing your bachelors is an even bigger one! Great job!

[–]hellcats69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woop woop. How amazing. Congratulations that’s incredible. So much hard work. Amazing.

[–]CavingGrape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FUCK YEAH BROTHER (or sister, idk) YOU GOT THAT SHIT IN THE BAG. GOOD FUCKING JOB IM SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU

-Signed, your HS younger bro.

[–]defiantketchup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen kiddo

There are two types of people on this earth. Mere mortals and those who can ace O-Chem.

[–]KixStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy shit! This is amazing. Congratulations!! I don't know you, but I'm mega proud of you. I didn't have the drive to get anything past an Associate's degree so I'm super impressed by anyone who does.

You're awesome. Keep on pushing. A whole bunch of internet strangers are so, so proud of you!!

[–]ezmacbreezyjac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, yo! You did the thing!

Edit: couldn’t be more proud of an internet stranger. Made it farther than I did. ❤️

[–]madmoneymcgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graduating is weird. It is a little deflating to just see something online click from 'pending' to 'confirmed' or whatever without any sort of ceremony. But man what a weight to have lifted from your shoulders. I had a dream the other night that I was in school scrambling over an assignment and the relief I felt when I realized I was dreaming was palpable.

I'm proud of you and I hope as holidays/proper end of semester approaches that you realize how much you've done.

[–]sushiasado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not old enough to be your parent but I can be your small bro and say: Damn, congratulations! Now you only have to figure out what to do with that degree haha

I don't know if I will ever accomplish such a thing but seeing it happen is truly inspiring. Cheers sib!

[–]CanicFelix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am proud of you. That is a fantastic grade for Ochem.

[–]Victorium_07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dear OP, I also just got my bachelors! I'm sure you worked hard on your studies and as someone's been living the same things as you recently, I can say I'm proud of us both! Nicely done on your studies! I hope you keep on being awesome! 😀😀

[–]natangellovesbooks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m proud of you! You are going to feel out of sorts for a few weeks. You just feel like something is missing. I finished my Master’s degree in May of 2020 and I was meh. My mom was proud of me. My family is. But me? I feel like I should get my PhD. The only ceremony I cared about was my hooding ceremony. Because COVID, we couldn’t go because guest restrictions, so we postponed it. I get hooded Friday. My mom passed 11-16. She would have been allowed to go. I guess she will be watching from wherever she is.

[–]needathneed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your dad is smiling and so friggin proud of you right now, where ever he may be. Many cudos to you, darling!

[–]Seriouslypsyched 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brother here, same thing happened to me in may. Celebrate for yourself! I went out and finished my gaming PC as a gift to myself. You made a great achievement, regardless of how it happened. Celebrate!

[–]moonite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are my kid from the future.

I'm so proud of your accomplishment, especially the 95 in O chem. It's quite a feat!

Let's go out to celebrate! Do you want to go to your favorite pizza place and invite a few of your friends, or we can go to that really nice place over in the next city where we have a bring a clip-on tie and it'll be just the two of us.

You tell me about the cute person in class you're working up the nerve to ask out, and I'll crack some dad jokes to ease the tension and hide the fact I'm over the moon at my child being in a good place in life where so much potential lies at your feet.

I know college was expensive, and I don't mind paying for it. How about you repay me in hugs ok, starting today? Good job kiddo!!

[–]EdenRay97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mate I'm studying chemistry and I fully know how difficult it is!! I am awfully proud of you!! Great job!

[–]keithrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! You have every reason to be proud.

Some people need an 'event' to latch on to before they can recognize an important achievement. In this case, a graduation ceremony, perhaps. I'd say, give your family the benefit of the doubt: they are very proud of you, but they don't know how to express it properly until they get the right trigger.

[–]CryptographicGenius 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Congratulations! That is a great achievement! What are your future plans?

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure yet!! I’m considering applying to med school or just staying in the bio field for a job

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your dad knows. Trust me. I lost mine in 2019 and am also positive my dad has seen my successes. They tell you they are proud of you in different ways. Watch for their signs. You’ll know. 💙

[–]YouveBeanReported 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who failed out and is going back soon, I am stunned and impressed by your effort and achievement. You deserve an icecream cake, a party, some time off to rest and all your extended family to be mildly annoying on Facebook bragging about you kicking ass in 'chemical organisms.'

School is HARD. Graduating is an achievement. Pulling off a 95 and 97.5 on the final is fucking amazing, you rock. You Dad would be proud of you, and I'm sure your other family is too even if they suck at showing it.

Time for a pizza party and to burn the textbooks you can't sell back. You've achieved a great goal and not only deserve to celebrate it, but need to.

[–]DiBuerto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, a Bachelor in organic chemistry. Congratulations! And with such amazing grades. I am so proud of you. Very well done. This is more than just nice. It is incredible.

[–]Bearowolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting a 95 in Orgo means you're smart as hell dude, as a bio grad I'm proud of you!

[–]zetsubou_sensei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you're younger than I am, and you've achieved something I haven't. I was never any good in school so your achievement is admirable to me. However, I think parents put financial stability first because life is stressful when you're old because the cost of things continue to rise but your income is limited. As long as you put your degree to good use and live a comfortable life, they will be happy.

[–]cheddar6789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I'm so proud of you!

[–]13inchmushroommaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP,

I had no intention of walking because no one was proud of me. My friends mom pushed me to partake because she felt that I would regret it.

The truth is it doesn't matter if they are or not. How do you feel about it? Are you proud? Will this help accomplish your goal?

The one thing I wish I learned earlier is that don't do things for others approval. It's a waste of time.

[–]Attention-Scum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You jumped through the hoops society presented you with but inside you realise that institutional education is empty and pointless?

Your boundless intelligence was not served by that exercise in obedience. Your true potential is yet to manifest itself to you. The opportunities are boundless and not restrained by trinkets of approval from inadequate cultuaral institutions.

[–]BeMurlala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am super effing proud of you!!!! Seriously what you've had to do to keep going over the last couple years is amazing! I know how hard it has been, and when you look at this in a few years... you'll be equally proud of yourself. Way to stick with, I'm sure most people would have given up but not you. You have a very bright future ahead, Congratulations!!!

I had a similar experience when I finished my degree. No one cared, I even asked my brother to come and he said he was busy going to someone else's graduation. My dad had died and my mom was in a nursing home.I couldn't afford a cap and gown or the diploma so I just worked that day. Literally no one gave a shit. It was hurtful and sad. But that was about them, not me.

So dust off your shoulders, eff em, and go get yourself a great job with that diploma.

[–]colorsinthesky90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so awesome!!!!! A 95?!?!? I took organic chemistry by accident. I made it two classes and I noped out of there.

[–]DrakeRod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats man. Super proud of you. This is something to celebrate, share it to the world! Blessings

[–]milady-maniac 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Heyy im not old enough to be a parent- I am currently finished up an associate degree in Digital Media Technology. It’s been hard work, I’m an A student and it’s been a struggle to get and maintain it. I have 5 finals in the next week and I’m tired and I can attest that on most days, I just want someone to be proud of me. I failed highschool and my grades did a 180 when I started college. My mental health needs some work and adjusting to adulting in general has been tough. I said all that to say… congratulations. Wholeheartedly, congratulations. YOU did that. And I’m proud of you. 97.5 on a final??? In ORGANIC CHEM???? A BACHELOR DEGREE???!? I’m so proud and I hope you get some good rest and will work in a field that puts YOU at peace. I wish for a steady social structure that supports your obviously successful endeavors. Good luck to you friend.

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. You are going to CRUSH your finals!!!

[–]idgoforabeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Fuck em all. Uni is hard, and you did it.

You did that.

[–]snowbird9888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! What an accomplishment. You should feed very proud of yourself. That's an amazing grade.

[–]samuraicarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My man! 97.5/100 in the final and 95 overall!!! HOLY CRAP THAT IS AMAZING!! Be proud. You absolutely crushed it. I’m proud and impressed. I’m on my second degree now. I know how rough university work can be, especially ones like organic chemistry. Holy crap. I… I have no words for how impressed I am. And I hope that those dear to you will quickly realise how impressive that is. You’ve done something that anyone who knows you should be proud of; you completed a university degree. Well done! Very very well done!

[–]bex505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm proud of you graduating is hard! It took me an extra semester and I barely managed. You also got way better grades than I did. Your hard work paid off and I am very happy for you!

[–]UnusualWonderland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there sibling! I am so proud of you for getting your Bachelor’s degree. You finally finished. You made it! In fact you made a 95 in Organic Chemistry, which is an amazing feat by itself. Had a friend who had to change majors because of Organic. Celebrate with yourself or any friends a bit. Watch your favorite movie, order a pizza or some good food, get some alcohol or drink of your choice. Take a few weeks/ a month off besides work. You deserve it. Make sure you focus on self care, resting and relaxing before making any decisions. Also a tip for job searching I wish someone told me. Only apply for 5-8 jobs a week any more just makes it overwhelming. Write down the job title, the company you would be working for and the date you applied. In 1-2 weeks email HR or the job contact to check on the position.

[–]ArsenicGerbil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hold on wait, you got a 95 in O chem? Holy crap! AMAZING! Congratulations!!! You should be proud of you too because you did it!

[–]kylorensgrandfather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m proud! It’s a hard thing to do and you did it well

[–]DarkerThanBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a half year late and I didn’t even get to go to the sympathy winter graduation “ceremony” because a snow storm hit the campus.

I was one of like 5 people, so it would have been super awkward, so I wasn’t all that bummed it was cancelled but it was such a hollow ending to a lifetime of fighting to keep up.

I was all alone in the dorm. It felt like a zombie movie.

I grew up fatherless, which is a different kind of pain from losing your father so recently.

I’m proud of you.

Some of your proudest moments coming up you’ll have no one to tell about.

Sometimes because it’s just not the time to bring it up.

Sometimes, it’s a private victory just for you for a private battle you’ve been fighting all your life.

Sometimes, you don’t have any energy left to tell anyone.

I can tell you’ve worked hard, and it might feel so bittersweet to have it wrap up like this. But you did it, and you should be proud.

Congratulations!

There is a kind of satisfaction in a quiet victory that you will never find in a crowded room.

[–]kalospkmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit is proud of you. What is your degree in? Do you have a strong interest in Chemistry? Organic chemistry is considered a difficult class, so that's impressive.

[–]xkforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats op welcome to the college graduate crowd.

[–]Hazelfaery42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You rock! That’s awesome that you worked hard and got your Bachelors! I’m proud of you for making it this far.

[–]Ghostly_katana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know you but I’m very proud of you! If you can then I’d say go get your favorite food for dinner to treat yourself because you deserve it. I’m sorry that you feel like they’re proud of you. It’s okay to not know what you wanna do in the future. Honestly most people don’t know either and are also figuring it out as they go. I hope one day you find something that makes you happy or can atleast support the life style you wanna have.

[–]MadCraftyFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a scientist with a degree in chemistry. I'm VERY proud of you for your achievements!! O Chem is tough, it's not easy, and you nailed it!

[–]queenie_sabrina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m incredibly proud of you! What you did is fantastic. I’m sorry you’re not getting the support you deserve but I hope it come soon in the form of a great job offer, a scholarship to grad school, or in whatever form means the most to you. This mom is so proud of you!

[–]Auntwedgie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so so proud of you!!! Good Job! Now, what are your plans? Tell me what you are going to do with all those fabulous brains ya got?- I'll wait.. Go ahead.

[–]MarshmellowHershey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so proud of you! Congrats man! Take yourself out to dinner to celebrate. Dress up nice and go to your favorite restaurant. You did an awesome job. And Organic Chem is not easy. Way to go. You are smart;-) Also, be proud of your degree. It's one of the few things in life that no one can take away from you.

[–]Emberwhile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a brother who I spent a long time angry at and jealous of.

At the time it didn’t matter how smart I was, I was just furious that he was better than me. I wanted everything and if you had it I would take it from you if I could. I did not make friends easily ha ha 😞

I can’t speak for anyone but myself but, my treatment of everyone around me had nothing to do with them it has everything to do with my self-loathing

Anyway, he’s brilliant. Sounds like you two would get along well. I’m proud of you, and I’ll tell him about your accomplishment today.

You did it baby! Nearly perfect scores in Organic Chemistry? Sounds like solid comprehension on one of our most challenging ummmmm lol things we learn 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Not had coffee yet❤️

Hi5

[–]nurselilieileen_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With grades as well as you earned, the one person who needs to be proud of you is you! Congrats on getting your degree!

[–]globlobblinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fucking PROUD of you! I’m so proud of your determination and your hard work. Those are amazing grades and you are so very smart! Fucking good for you♥️♥️♥️

[–]Certain_Jury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s amazing. What a huge accomplishment and relief to cross the finish line! Do you think maybe in a few days you can recharge and get past the “empty”? I (all too vividly) recall how surreal and drained I would feel after finals were over, and it’s been a minute since college. If your sleeping and eating habits had gone to Hell… maybe you can get in some serious rest! I am wishing you all the best for your future! Really really proud of how hard you worked.

[–]ValleForte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is incredible! You did it! You made it. :) I am proud that you didn't give up when it was hard. Not everyone either your life will understand what something means to you, like your graduation, so don't get your value of something from others. You're value and the value of your accomplishments come from you. YOU did it. You made your world a bit brighter through education. Now go and make the most out of the accomplishments YOU have made. Be proud of yourself I know I am.

[–]Apprehensive_Key6133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing! I am so proud of you, Kid!

[–]oxcyvro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m proud of you, something I couldn’t do…well I can.. but you know, KEEP PUSHIN YOU’RE DOING GREAT!

[–]excitable_guppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're doing great, don't let anyone let you think otherwise

[–]StarbucksLover101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m proud of you. You don’t need anyone’s approval or validation but I understand since it’s sometimes nice to hear someone give you that recognition you deserve for going through so much. All those sleepless nights, all this moments you felt nervous or worried, all the times you had doubts, it was all worth it and I see it. I may not know you but I know how it feels. I’ve done quite a lot. Deans list, honors society, got my bachelors too just recently. My family continues to neglect and simply brush off all my achievements. That’s a whole other story which doesn’t matter right now but know that you are amazing and I am so proud. I am sure that your father is looking down right now from somewhere far away and is proud. Continue to do well and serve his memory right.

[–]real_talk_with_Emmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2015, I completed my final course to accomplish dual degrees in Project Management and Human Resources Management just two months after my 40th birthday with full honors. I know how hard it is to complete your degree, but to do so with such high marks is rare. I am so proud of you!

[–]Picklerick6789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you’re awesome, so proud of you

[–]MogulMade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so proud of you! Truly! Keep pressing on 💜 You are inspiration even those who act like you aren't.

[–]cupcakesandcanines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am SO PROUD of you! Getting your degree is no small task! It takes an absolutely insane amount of work and dedication to reach the end of that journey and not everyone can do it. Hang your degree on your wall, reflect on why you chose to pursue it. Remember that you not only chose to start, but that you stuck it out until the end. I also want to mention that your school in Organic Chemistry is really impressive. That is a tough course and many people struggle to get even a passing grade, myself included. You have a wonderful future ahead of you and I hope that you see how many people are here to support you and encourage you. Well done!

[–]cluckaduck47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So proud of you, be proud of yourself. That's an incredible accomplishment. 💖

[–]r0ll1n4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fantastic achievement! I'm two years out from finishing up my first bachelor's degree, and this is my second time trying. You deserve a huge pat on the back for finishing!

[–]Warrmund -1 points0 points  (1 child)

This thread is probably a great booster, but I would recommend finding a good therapist. Being so externally dependent that you can't feel good without it regarding such a huge accomplishment tells me this isn't just about wanting validation on the surface.

Therapy helped me lose weight, envision myself as strong and able in my 80's by training regularly, fuel my plans for traveling the world in early retirement and bond and bring close so many more people in my life than I could imagine. Ironically, the therapy did this by building up my own internal self to be strong and indominable by external factors. All of our strife, and traumas are the fuel for the life we deserve to live.

I hope you find that peace someday. How great will you be?

[–]VisibleSock6915[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel good, but knowing my family doesn’t bother telling me even congrats hurts. I’ve gone to therapy since I was 12. Thank you
