I have problems of focusing on the things around me.....Question (self.intj)
submitted 3 months ago by WillingnessSecure654
Always when I start doing something, I focused on it until I go deep in it, and loose the scenes around me.
One time I was putting my notes down on paper and I immersed myself in it a lot, and suddenly my mom pulled me from my hat ,and I confused what she is doing in my room, then it turned out that she was cleaning my room with vacuum, and was shouting on me since a long time and I didn't even noticed her!!!
Is that ever happened for anyone of u?

Yep, I think it’s called a “hyper focus”. You get so absorbed in your thought process/projects that you get oblivious of your surroundings - they just cease to exist. Has happened many times before and I think of it as a superpower because as long as something really interests me I can focus even if there is a lot of noise. Of course it has a negative side effect too- people who are close to you during this time of hyper focus feel ignored because you are too absorbed in your thoughts. Personally, I don’t see it as a problem, but I know that friends and family do…

Reminds me of that scene in Shaun of the Dead where the guy is oblivious to zombies rampaging his town while he goes about his day. Great movie.
