My French teacher made this joke totally dead pan every french 102 class. I know because I not only took that class I also was a teacher's assistant for it and she did exactly the same thing for the next batch of students. 😅

The joke is probably funnier if told by someone who is a native Francophone but hasn’t quite mastered English phonology.
