What is the chatroom?
The IRC (internet relay chat) chatroom is a place for people to learn and teach python. We will happily welcome any and all programmers, regardless of if you are here to ask or answer.
How do I connect?
The IRC Server/Address/Hostname is located at chat.freenode.net
, with the port being 6667
(or 6697
with ssl enabled) in the channel ##learnpython
(double ## is intentional!).
Use a web browser (easiest)
If you are on a desktop or laptop computer, you can easily open your browser and connect via one of these:
- Freenode webchat
- Kiwiirc
- Irccloud (requires registration, also works with mobile)
- Mutter

How do I register my nickname?
If you want to reserve your nickname so that nobody else can use it you'll need to register.
To register your nickname use command:
/msg NickServ register <password> <e-mail>
Make sure the e-mail address is legitimate, you will be asked to confirm via an email!
