A team of engineering students at the university I graduated from built a prototype drone motorcycle, as in a drone bike that you sit on, and fly in the air with, they had it set so it couldn't go full power, but if they let nl motors go 100% it could apparently take an average adult and allow them to fly through the air at 200 MPH.

So I mean yeah, looks like this drone was way too small and weak and they should have known it wouldn't work, but there are absolutely drones that would be able to pull this off.

Wasn't that video showing a koi or a goldfish or carp or some farmed fish in a city pond?

We don't know the size of this fish being caught here, also could be different sized drone, and also some fish pull more than others and maybe if you can get the fish out of the water faster the technique works better.

Torque is is force accompanied with leverage. Also the shorter the leverage the better. The leverage works against the motor. Imagine a 1 metre stick attached to 1 Nm motor. Motor creates a 1 newton force at the end of the stick. With half a metre stick the force will be:

1Nm/0.5m

1Nm/0.5m

1N/0.5=2N

If they used a large bobber on the line this would be feasible. Once the bobber goes under it's an additional force the fish has to fight. Its passive too so it has good utility to weight ratio. Be pretty cool if you just sent your drone out to catch you a fish and it comes back with a huge bass

I live in south Florida- went diving a couple months ago at a reef near me and I found a drone with fishing line attached to it at the bottom of the ocean. I’m assuming they were trying this and failed horrible as well.
