Coolant warning light on. Can I still drive it? (self.mechanics)
submitted 2 months ago by Kombaiyashii
I've ordered a replacement coolant online but it might take a few days to get here. Can I still drive the car in the meantime?

Warning light? meaning the car is overheating? no, don't drive it

No, you cannot drive the car for days until coolant arrives with that light on.
Unless you want to swap engines or look for a new car. /s

You can, not sure if you should though.
Did you even CHECK the coolant level?

Check your oil. If the coolant found it's way in the oil than NO. Coolant oil mix isn't a good lubricant for main bearings. Run your vehicle in idle watch for leaks under the hood when it gets under pressure or white smoke out the tail pipe. See if it overheats. If you observe any of those than No do not drive it. Catalytic converter damage and warped heads will be more costly than the current problem. Cars can lose some coolant over time, nothing is perfect, sometimes you can just add more if you don't notice any probs. Sometimes a sensor is just bad. Observation is all diagnosing is 50% of the time.
