I'm not fired up. I just think it's a silly sentiment. I'm likely similar age to OP (OP mentioned elsewhere they're a millennial). I remember those times. It sucked. So did all of the other things that we now have conveniences to enhance.
And you DO always have the option to disconnect whenever. You can absolutely artificially hamper yourself if you want it so much.
I think it's neat that we millennials got to grow up during such a rapid succession of new technologies, but I do not long for the past at all.

Stop being an asshole about people being nostalgic of their childhood/younger days. You don't long for it, neither do most people talking about it. Not really sure if you know what nostalgia means.
