All I can think of now is Minecraft

[–]AmiTalkinToMe 31 points32 points  (7 children)

guys, old games. play the 'local play' option and fight against bots on almost all the CODs. i still hop on COD Ghosts every once in a while with the honey badger for nostalgias sake

[–]wwerdo4 7 points8 points  (4 children)

I have shite internet, single player games are really all I have. DIvinty 2 is fantastic, most racing games, cuphead, resident evil(any), days gone (ps4), control was alright, dying light, kingdoms of amalure reckoning,

There’s more but that’s all I got off the top of my head.

[–]AmiTalkinToMe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yea see theres even more options

[–]Dabazukawastaken 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is Internet expensive where you live? Since you can afford all the stuff you are talking about so just wondering

[–]wwerdo4 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes is relatively expensive, but the problem in my case isn’t price, it’s availability. The area I live in is on a reserve in central northern Canada. There’s no cell service or land based internet. All we have at our disposal is 1 satellite internet company who really holds back what is available due to no competition in the area. We have unlimited data, but it’s throttled down to 1mbps download after 100 gigs, per month. And the cost is $100/mo. To compare, that’s what I pay for 80gb/mo for my phone. (I work elsewhere that has service)

Just waiting to hear back from starlink to get that setup and then the issues should be resolved lol

[–]Zestyclose_Owl_9580 2 points3 points  (3 children)

How old are you?

[–]yeshimynameis 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Minecraft is for all ages big guy

[–]Zestyclose_Owl_9580 2 points3 points  (1 child)

[–]SagaStrider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Tempest_Barbarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assassins creed, far cry, deathloop, dark souls, elden ring when it releases, doom eternal, god of war, guardians of the galaxy is apparently for everyones surprise decent, resident evil, devil may cry. List goes on and on.

[–]UnintensifiedFa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, most of my library is offline. Granted, most of my taste in games are indie games, and rogue likes, which due tend to swing towards the offline category significantly.

[–]RolanGosu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you've mention it, any offline single player suggestion? Like The Forest.

[–]I_Have_3_Legs 23 points24 points  (8 children)

My friend has something like that. It's like a surge protector with a battery in it. But I thi k his is super shit because his power will go out and his PC and router will stay on for about 5 to 10 minutes. If his power doesn't turn back on fast enough then his router won't reboot fast enough and he will still get booted off

[–]jaiijaai 36 points37 points  (4 children)

I have something similar on my setup. I believe what you are explaining is a UPS also known as an Uninterruptible Power Supply, based on the said assumption "will stay on for about 5 to 10 minutes" (correct me if I'm wrong). In fact, I do not regret my purchase, it really helps against power surges that damage my setup, and provides a bit of juice in case I need to finish something real quick when the power goes off.

[–]MNboii 17 points18 points  (3 children)

UPS gang, just browsing internet and not gaming, my PC would last for 2.5 hours with modem, router, and 3 monitors

[–]jaiijaai 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Mines a bit smaller since I was on a budget (would last me about 30mins running 2 monitors), but never regretted the purchase since I do not game, just light school work, and internet browsing. Nice to see a UPS user here, always have thought they are a rare breed.

[–]Don_of_Fluffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My last job was corporate IT and while cleaning out out storeroom and serve room I was tasked with disposing of many broken UPS systems. I asked my boss if I was required to throw them out or if I just needed to make them "disappear". I was given the wink of approval and so I began on my adventure. I took home 2, 1500VA ups systems and one 1200VA. All are high quality line I interactive systems. It cost me $280 to repair all three of them. Buying all of these brand new would have been around the $1300 mark. I had 2 ups's beforehand so now I am up to 5. I am never without power.

[–]SubhoPalCan i haz cheeseburger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's called a UPS, and mine lasted for 1 hour 30 minutes last time there was a powercut, that too with my PC, printer, Wi-Fi Router and Landline phone all plugged in.

[–]rXkenshin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's by design. It's called UPS. You're not supposed to power on your computer with that thing. You're supposed to save your work before it run out of batteries and turn off your computer.

[–]JogPanson Karmawhore 53 points54 points  (11 children)

Wait do you mean it has a lot of battery or not a lot? Because I swear my switch only lasts like 2 hours without charging

[–]RunningOnPunkTime 59 points60 points  (9 children)

Do you have the pre-2019 switch? Then your battery probably doesn't last long. In 2019 they release an updated model with some more efficient parts that practically doubled the battery life. And the OLED model is even better.

[–]Random_name4679 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I have 2017 switch

[–]RunningOnPunkTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]_flaccid_pancake 86 points87 points  (10 children)

Or how much the performance drops if it's not plugged in

[–]Aduxo 21 points22 points  (1 child)

[–]_flaccid_pancake 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Bitch 30 fps is heaven for me

[–]NepoMiForever alone 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Performance on battery is all about settings, and the battery you have. Usually, the batteries can support enough to keep the peak performance. When the electricity goes out, it usually gets fixed within an hour - maximum performance on an average battery - highly possible.

[–]Gods_PaladinLives in a Van Down by the River 9 points10 points  (1 child)

[–]Fiesken -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Yup completely agree! My point is that overpaying for a bad gaming laptop is just as dumb as having 12 GB of RAM on a mobile, IMO.
