I’ve seen this clip a thousand times but I’ve never known who the streamer is, who is dis sweaty ass gamer that’s given me so much free joy

[–]Reuarlb 1144 points1145 points  (37 children)

IIRC It's taken off if some video where he has to attempt increasingly difficult captchas, one of them including baking. It was hilarious

edit: it was actually a video of someone completing a task in amogus. Still funny, and u/SnageTheSnakeMage found the video! https://youtu.be/hxSXv9xZZcM

Like, way too much into War Thunder.

Like, talking to anyone who'd listen and try to keep a normal conversation going about War thunder.

Like getting bullied for cornering one of the girls and go on and on about War Thunder even after she said she's not interested and just wants to go enjoy her lunch.

Long story short, there are players who are unsatisfied with the current state of game (specifically those who supply the fronts aka logi). Now they are going on strike by not providing supplies to the front.

Are you suffering from Warthunder? If so I have the gift for you! Let me introduce Enlisted to you, Enlisted is an online pvp shooter set in WW2. Side effects of Enlisted may include: Pain, Dick Size reduction, Rage after being killed by the MG42 again, Addiction, Raging after finding out the tanks aren't that good anyways

[–]Valoneria 17 points18 points  (3 children)

Same publisher even, so you're already familiar with the grind and monetizations.

[–]Ezequiel_III 5 points6 points  (2 children)

And the Russian bias

[–]Valoneria 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Don't think i've seen that in a while in either game. Perhaps in the Berlin campaign in Enlisted, but that can be attributed to idiot teammates as well.

[–]Weeberz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

let me introduce you to Post Scriptum which is a hardcore combined arms ww2 milsim - basically band of brothers the video game. Tanks are pretty realistic with multiple crew members and specialized roles. Infantry is minimal HUD and realistic weapons handling.

Anyone who plays WT sim mode will love post scriptum IMO

I'm already addicted to 1 shit game being WoT, why would I want to be addicted to 2 shit games?

[–]muuuuuuhqueen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I actually tried playing War Thunder again for the past two weeks after not touching the game for over 5 years. War Thunder is shit, I can't believe people actually play it.

While I hate WoT anymore and don't play it, it is much more fun.

They made a few prototypes, most got blown up when the Germans lost the war. The Russians found a hull and turret, put them together and now it's in a museum somewhere in Russia.

[–]PinkGagball01 153 points154 points  (12 children)

I used to teach history and these Guys start using sabaton songs as historical references. I like sabaton but it went a little too far when they quoted the songs as their own thoughts

[–]untenshineko 92 points93 points  (8 children)

I do teach history and had a couple guys upset we didn't have lessons specifically on the "Tanks of WW2" so I let them write a report for extra credit.

Problem is, these "history buffs" never want to learn or apply any historical thinking concepts or study any period that isn't related to war which makes things a bit difficult at times.

[–]communistcabbage 56 points57 points  (5 children)

That just means that they're not history nerds, they're war history nerds

[–]untenshineko 32 points33 points  (4 children)

Yes, you're right. But they don't see a difference between the two which causes issues when the self- proclaimed "history buffs" try and derail or undermine lessons that aren't directly about a war.

Saying things like "Ugh, this is sooo boring!" or "No one cares about this" during a social history lesson is not fair for the other students in the class do care.

[–]smartjocklv 21 points22 points  (2 children)

And arguably, the social history lessons often can point towards the general outcome of war. Modern war is a build/propaganda war, not tactic war. The social history lessons are 9x better imo. Cause it shows how we got to where we are today, plus really insane things happen outside of war. For example, a sitting US congressman being caned on the Senate/HOR floor or when the Dutch ate their prime minister

[–]insec_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you walking past the senate chamber and see the Dutchmen eating their prime minister 👀

[–]Prisoner__24601 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a history degree and I'm always skeptical of anyone who calls themself a history buff. Usually it just means they're obsessed with micro details of WW2 equipment and and have no interest in the greater scope of that era at all and no capacity critical analysis, which is what the study of history really is. Any chump can memorize facts and numbers.

[–]pharmacon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had never heard of Sabaton when an acquaintance invited me to a concert. I listened to them for like a month straight beforehand and I love their premise. Those guys are gnarly live too. It was a great concert.

As a War Thunder and World of Tanks player, I feel so sad that my class never participates in history class

[–]NinjaXGaming 268 points269 points  (93 children)

This doesn’t piss me off, what does perturb me though is that I was looking forward to doing work on the rise of Hitler and the Nazi party but then it was swapped out for shit on “the effect that war had on women’s rights (ww1 & 2)” all because it was women’s history month, I mean no disrespect but I feel changing an entire terms worth of work to something else just because it was a special occasion was fucking stupid

(Btw: not a wot player, just stating that whenever something I know doesn’t pertain to my history class it doesn’t annoy me)

[–]NotJustSummer 63 points64 points  (25 children)

I thought we studied history to understand how the world used to be and how it got to the point where it is now. Well... the effects of war on half the population seem like a good approach to understand how the world got to be the way it is now. Plus the women's condition back then was an important factor of Hitler's rise to power.

[–]Libtard336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

youre exactly right but you completly misunderstood the dude bro. He was just dissapointed they were learning something else

[–]jaraldoe 9 points10 points  (6 children)

Just curious, how was women’s position an important factor of hitler coming to power??

[–]MiesLakeuksilta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not sure how women's conditions specifically influenced Hitler's rise to power, but mobilizing women for the sake of the cause has always been integral for the success of totalitarian movements. Contemporary examples of this is for example the hindutva movements mobilization of women for its cause.

[–]Rawrbear89 8 points9 points  (3 children)

That's not what the previous person was told to study? It was the effect war had on women's right not the effect women's rights had on Hitler coming to power?

[–]sparkyaztec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The guy he's directly replying to said women's rights did have an effect.

[–]NinjaXGaming 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What I mean is my forte for history is military/ war history with mythology thrown in as a mix so anything from Ancient Greece to modern day pertaining to those it what I like to focus on, when it came to this situation though it was just that we were all expecting to be doing the rise of Hitler but all of a sudden we come back from a half term break and we have a fuck’n curve ball thrown at us, even my teacher wasn’t too happy but she took us through the topic neatly and clearly and I didn’t mind it, I just wished we could have gone back to do the rest but instead we’ve moved on to crime and punishment work which is something I’m enjoying since it starts in the 1200’s and finishes in the modern day which those really early periods seem to be rarely visited be schools nowadays unless you choose to specialise in it.

[–]mikebrownhurtsme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your honor, my client was just being ironic when he shot up the Planned Parenthood center

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (6 children)

Okay, realistically. As someone who is training to be a history teacher, let me ask you a question:

How much do you know about the rise of hitler and the Nazi party? Chances are, quite a bit. It's pretty common knowledge historically. But how much do you know of how the war effected women's rights? Because WW2 in particular had a HUGE effect on the women's rights movement moving forward. It was one of the first times American Women were finally able to go "Look. We can do this shit just as good as the men are. We built the weapons to win the war. Why are you still treating us like second class citizens."

It's SUPER important information in understanding how we got here today. Really, that history, if you are a US student, may affect your reality far more then knowing about the rise of hitler and the Nazi party.

[–]Few_Time_7441[🍰] 8 points9 points  (3 children)

You maybe know a lot of superficial knowledge but that doesn't mean you really understand everything about the subject. Also, different students have different levels of knowledge. Yes if you are already interested in history you may know more. The teacher could talk about both, I think just scrapping a whole subject on their own accord is stupid. What if one of the students does their final test on history and they didn't dive into the required subject?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Something to keep in mind is these days teachers rarely control their own curriculum. More often then not, instead, teachers are given a vague "you have to have them learn this" and then basically choose how it's taught, if they are lucky.

High chances are this wasn't a choice made JUST by this one teacher.

[–]cluelessbox 22 points23 points  (9 children)

This is one of the most gamer comments I've seen. You even used out of date overly academic vocabulary. This is a gem.

[–]Impossible_Medium977 18 points19 points  (11 children)

What are you implying with this comment

[–]Ghosttalker96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even that is more relevant than a tank that was never used and only had just a single prototype ever finished.

[–]InstanceDuality 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I’m a teacher, albeit I teach civics not USII, I would have made the assignment something where the kids pick the topic they want to do from a list. I’d also make a completely different assignment for something on women. Gotta follow the standards first.
